The ideal Christmas gift for a Dawg fan? Not this. (Photo by M. Bradley)
Understand: In my entire life, I have never thought of Bobby Dodd Stadium as the Joke by Coke, but seeing as how I’m tasked with chatting live tonight from a Georgia perspective I thought I’d get in the spirit. But that, I should report, is where it ends. No cracks about John DUI-berry. Or Reggie Ball. (Well, maybe only one or two.) Everything else will be straight down the middle. Fair and balanced, as we say here at Fox News.
And we at Fox News have learned that the Ol’ Ball Coach doubled the score on young Dabo of Swinney, which has the effect of doing two things near and dear to Georgia fans’ hearts. First, it devalues the ACC title game, in which the North Avenue Trade School — sorry, couldn’t t resist just one more — will take part, and it also offers further proof that the ACC isn’t exactly a fortress of a league.
South Carolina entered having lost five of 11 games, same as Georgia. South Carolina had lost to Georgia by four points on Sept. 12, two days after Georgia Tech beat Clemson by three. So comparative scores were pretty close. (Not that comparative scores tell us much, but hear me out.) And today the Evil Genius whipped his in-state rival 34-17.
Can it happen in another state championship game? Honesty compels me to say I don’t think so, but I’ve been wrong about this game twice in the past three years. I figured Tech would handle Georgia in 2006 given that the Jackets were ranked and headed for the ACC title tilt — sound familiar — and the Bulldogs had needed an upset of Auburn just to get to 7-4. And I figured Georgia would still be too much for the Jackets were — for a half. Then things changed.
I see Georgia scoring some points on Tech. I see Tech scoring a lot more on Georgia. I’ve been saying 42-27 for two weeks, and yesterday I asked you kind folks for your thoughts on the matter. At last check, the semi-consensus among respondents was that the Jackets would win big or Georgia would win close. I’d bet on the latter if I bet. Which I do not. So feel free to disregard my gambling advice.
Please also feel free to join us as we discuss the game from a Georgia angle tonight. I’ll be here until it ends, which I figure will be at 11:29 p.m. EST. And it had better be. My print deadline is 11:30. But that’s problem, not yours. And I look forward to your company on what promises to be an intriguing night.

Jacket Lawyer…did you by chance represent the tech player that was caught with 90 lbs of pot in his trunk….who proudly took the field against UGA shortly thereafter? Or maybe the assistant coach who was arrested for DUI, hit and run, and possession? Or the 290 pounder that crushed the GIRLS face at the pizza parlor? Ya’ll had anymore baseball players die from herione overdoses?
Just wondering since you are sooooo concerned with UGS’s players riding motor scooters without a drivers liscense? BTW….unlike Reggie Ball…all out players can count to 4!!!!!!

I’m only talking about Georiga’s schedule. They opened up with a top 10 team and will close with a top 10 team. Tn. Tech was homecoming. Most teams scheudle cupcakes for homecoming. But dude, seriously, no ACC team could touch Florida and Alabama.

Geez, this waiting is killing me! In about 5 hours, UGA fans will slither back into their trailers and we won’t have to listen to their mindless drivel for 9 months.
I am stuck in a house with UGA fans, and they are already making up excuses for how they are going to lose this game. It is not a big game for us……our defensive coordinator is an idiot…….our offensive coordinator is an idiot…..AJ Green is out of the game…..the refs stole the game from us against LSU……SEC is a superior conference……ACC sux…….blah, blah,blah…..I know you are trying to soften me up, but I am still going to laugh my arse off everytime we score. By the way, if you are reading this blog, I am the one in the recliner with a Corona and a GT shirt and hat on.

I take offense that Clemson be a “top team” John. Both VT and Miami I would say are better. Just because Heather Dinich wishes it, doesn’t make it so

And your mantra Jacket Lawyer is 40 years of mediocrity. So what’s your point Einstein? That an SEC team that plays a cupcake schedule is still capable of beating a team that hung 44 on Tech 30 to 0 and the 3rd qtr is only half over. I bet you lose a lot of cases with arguments and logic like that. You’re the dumbest lawyer I’ve ever encountered. How’d you ever pass the BAR?

FSU is having an off year, but despite the points they scored, we had more points at the end of the game. That, in case you math illiterate mutts don’t know, means GT won. So FL, after that tough schedule, plays refreshed and whips FSU. Big deal. Cupcakes I say.

McClusters Report:
McClusters finished with 82 rushing yards and 63 receiving yards, giving him 985 rushing yards and 475 receiving yards for the season.
He’ll have a chance in the Rebels’ bowl game to become the first player in SEC history to rush for 1,000 yards and have 500 receiving yards in the same season.

The ACC is a weak conference.UNC,FSU and CLEM?Top tier teams?Folks are putting too much stock in last years game.Let’s keep it real…Stafford threw a pick 6…Samuel fumbled and GT had 3 long runs…it’s not like they moved the ball at will and dominated the game or anything.GT has not dominated ANY of the so called “top” teams in the ACC so why in the hell should they dominate UGA?The UGA front 7 is better than they were last year and are better than ANY team in the ACC today!2 hrs to kickoff…ACC will be fully exposed by 11pm

Jacket Lawyer do you seriously think ANYONE here thinks for one split second that GT wants to play the Gators? If GT wanted to play Ala., UF, Tn., LSU, Aub. etc they would STILL be in the SEC!
A mistake GT will never recover from when it comes to their football program! After the powers to be at GT realized what a collosal mistake they made by going independant, they lobbied for years to get back into the SEC before thet settled for the ACC!
UGA has owned GT for the last 45 years…UF has owned UGA for going on 20 years! And you want some of UF….sure you do…wink wink!

Seriously, though, from a man who spoke to Claude Felton recently:
“Willie Martinez won’t be at Georgia next year.”
The only problem I have with that particular statement is the fact that Mike Bobo and his 90th-ranked offense isn’t also included.
I think part of the reason why he keeps on having kids is a kind of emotional blackmail on nice-guy Richt.
I mean, you can’t fire a guy with 11 kids under 3 years old, right?

MB, I felt okay till I read your prediction of UGA winning close. I imagine that means we (UGA) get blown out. How could we not lose? We have the worst DC in the history of modern football and our OC is completely overmatched on every play in every game. Tech has the finest schemer, adjuster and all around football coach in history. Better than Bryant, Dodd, Dooley, Jordan, Vaught, Neyland and Belichick combined! Or not. Go Dawgs.

What the hell are you smoking?
2007 was talent trumping coaching.
2008 was talent trumping coaching.
2009 is too much bad coaching ruining very good talent.
Get your head outta your butt. We have NO chance tonight. Coach Richt and his idiotic loyalty to Willie Martinez and The Red-Headed Turnover Menace has seen to that.
