UGA in an upset? Tech in a blowout? Your thoughts, please

Here's vivid proof Georgia actually did tackle Roddy Jones. Once. (AJC photo by Pouya Dianat)

OK, folks. You know what I think will happen. (Georgia Tech 42, Georgia 27.) You’ve heard my phony-baloney rationale: Tech is the better and more consistent team. Now I’m asking: What do you think will happen?

Tech blowout? Georgia upset? Overtime at Bobby Dodd? (It happened 10 years ago, you’ll recall.) Questionable call proving decisive? (That has happened a time or two, has it not?) Roddy flying past Reshad down the sideline again? A phantom fumble returned for the winning touchdown? A fourth-down throwaway? Tim Wansley with a seal-the-game INT? Tim Jennings with a seal-the-game INT? Gary Lee with a kickoff return through the fog?

I’m fairly certain you’ve had enough of my blather. I’m also certain you have detailed thoughts on the matter. Please feel free to share. Sharing is good. Sharing is cleansing. Sharing is why I’m here.

I leave you with this one factoid: In the Associated Press preseason poll, one of these teams was ranked No. 13; the other was No. 15. Anyone recall which was higher?

Bobby Dodd beat Georgia 8 straight times; went 59-7-3 between 1951 and 1956; won 8 of 12 major bowls; was one of the pioneers of the dadgum option offense; developed assistants and players who became head coaches at no less than 6 other major schools; and is one of the great gentlemen in the history of the college game. When he stepped down as head coach after 22 years, Tech had had 3 coaches in 63 years – Heisman, Alexander, and Dodd.
I like Paul Johnson as well as the next Tech fan, but what say we let him get grey-headed before we go to renaming things.

Sautee Dawg, you can take EVERYTHING that you said and dress it in red and black (or whatever other colors you mutts like to wear)! Just THIS year, it is LAUGHABLE at how little I see pup gear! The sun has shone on the hind parts of your dawgs and ya’ll have been revealed for the ‘almost’ team you are, time and time, again! Time for your pups to jump back up on the porch….ya’ll aren’t ready to run with the big dogs!

In regards to the subject of the blog, one would be foolish to believe that a blowout is in the making….just not common in a rivalry with this kind of ‘hate’…. Tech wins by two touchdowns! It’s gonna be a GOOD game! GO TECH!!!

This is the score according to the crazy tech bloggers on here. That’s crazy. As bad as the dawgs have played this year, they are the 6-5 team that you don’t want to play.

They will not beat tech, but if I were a tech fan I would not brag so much. As coach Green says, “Go ahead and crown their a**, they are how we thought they were”. This game is techs to win or lose. Georgia cannot even step on the field with Tech. CPJ would not want any of Georgia’s players, because they are not good enough according to tech fan’s.

Really all you crazy UGA and Tech fan’s. Here is the keys to the game.

GT: Get the ball on the perimeter and expose the UGA secondary. For the past two years teams have feasted off of bad corner and secondary play. Once the linebackers start spreading out then run up the middle. Then after the cheat-up throw down field. This worked last year and should work this year.

Georgia: No turnovers, no penalties..glad that is out of the way. Also, you need points in the red-zone, which has been terrible over the past two years, 7’s not 3’s. Also the UGA offense needs to keep Tech on the sideline, a dose of CPJ elixir will go along way to shutdown an offense that can’t go anywhere. Last but not least, listen puppy defense, you have to shed the blockers on the perimeter and get in the back field, watch out for the chop-block. Reshad Jones, no more excuses…I thought he was out of bounds. Tackle.

End of the day, if UGA has 2 or more turnovers and/or 65 or more yards in penalties with one penalty then, GT 38, UGA 31

If UGA has no turnovers, has over 400 all purposes yards and runs for alt east a 150, and wins TOP, then UGA 38, Tech 31

This is Techs to win.

Go Keydets.

What does it matter who wins. So what if Tech wins! That is just another statement in Mark Richt’s inability to adapt or make immediate changes necessary to win. Be real! You choose your QB because its HIS turn! You keep a DC that has given up more points per game than anybody in my life time.
I have always pulled for tech when they did not play the dawgs. I am sorry! I can not do that anymore. I love a winner and can not tolerate a loser. Just call me an American! Think I got my line from one of the greatest. Willie Martinez is a loser….and most of you analyst are being anal defending him. I think tech will score at least 45 and who knows what “its his turn QB” will do. 45 to ? tech wins.

Fianl score: Tech 2, Pups 2. The defenses kick the cat poop out of both defenses. The stands empty and everyone does a mass hug at the 50 yard line. Buzz and the replacement UGA mascot curl up and go to sleep in the corner of the south endzone. Everyone agrees to meet at the Varsity for chili dogs and frosted oranges. The players don’t have the strength and stamina to stop the running onslaught. The coaches don’t have the skills to find a way to stop it. Offense does not have the ability to match them score for score. Only hope is to eliminate turnovers and penalties. To make matters worse, we have to be around a bunch of jerks dressed in puke yellow.

38-17 uga….too many good players to let what happen last year happen again… if not for about 6 or 7 min of the third qt where uga turns the ball over 3 times..tech loses last year game 42-15

tech will never have the better football players and thats why they will lose most games against uga than win..thats why they have a losing record by 20 games or so right now…

the only way tech holds uga to 17 if ugs turns the ball over 4 or 5 times…we turned it over 4 times last year and stilled scored 42..techs d gives up tons of big plays and uga has a ton of big plays already this year against better defenses…

CPJ and CMR decide to settle the outcome in a game of tiddly-winks on a card table set up on the 50 yard line. 60 minutes, four time outs each, three challenges each, SEC officiating, and instant replay. First one to 100 wins… I think that would work.

It’s complicated-
Blair Walsh kicks long field goals.
Scott Blair sometimes makes 35 yarders.
But, Scott Blair has 8 tackles on kickoffs. Is that good, though?
Other than Scotty, Tech doesn’t cover kickoffs well, so must limit UGA scores.
Including Blair W., UGA does not cover kickoffs well. Must limit Tech scores.
Josh Nesbitt throws strange-looking passes, but has a rating of 156. Tebow 155, McCoy 152.
Cox throws nice looking passes, has passer rating better than McElroy, Jefferson, Crompton.
Defending Bay-Bay is like trying to cover a 6′3″ white oak with 4.45 speed.
Defending A.J. is like looking around desperately for the kryptonite.
3-1 on FGs, Georgia.
4-3 Tds, Tech.

Final score – Ga. Tech 31, Georgia 30.

OK Taxdawg33, it’s hard to know where to begin on your comments.

No. 1
Let’s see, about your fans being fair-weather, just re-read the blogs of your brethren chums and it should be plain to see for you. All I read are comments about how bad the coaches are, the lack of leadership on the sidelines and on the field, and how ‘heads must roll’ because you have had one down year. Oh yeah, don’t forget the lines about how CMR is ineffective because he doesn’t throw temper tantrums on the sidelines and acts like a professional. If you don’t think that demeanor can be successful, check out Bill Belichick, Tony Dungy just to name a few. Yeah, real smart.

No. 2
I was right here during all the tech years of the past 50 years, and even though we had up and down years, many of them down, my GT DNA runs deep and I never wavered in my team loyalty. It seems to me however that near the end of the KY game last week, the announcers pointed out the streaming of fans leaving the stadium before the clock hit 0:00, and were incredulous about it because there was still a chance to win for UGA. That my bad tax-dawg is the epitome of “fair weather fans”.

I guess I struck a nerve with you and sorry it seems to hit so close to home.

By the way, I was very jealous of your program when you hired CMR, and my opinion of him is still the same. I guess I get a little annoyed when your fans call for his ouster when they are way out of line. Yes, you play against Saban, Meyer, and Miles but you have the best chance against them with CMR. I can’t think of anyone better to run your program, so instead of bashing tech fans who for a change are having success, concentrate on helping your program instead of hating the fact that you are having an average year.

Or maybe bashing Tech fans gives you some pleasure in a year with disappointments. Go ahead, and we’ll laugh at you again after Sat. night for another 365 days.

Go Jackets!!!

Last year the dawgs had the ability to score 40+ points. This year I just don’t think it is possible. Willie Martinez’s defense is questionable at best. Tech’s offense has only got better. UGA is in trouble. Someone will have to be fired to justify these losses this year. Possibly two terminations. No decent bowl for UGA means no revenue. Which is the real motivation of these programs. So Sorry dawgs fans:

TECH: 41
UGA: 13

If UGA gets behind early. They could get set on passing which doesn’t suit there style. Cox tries to force it even more than usual. Then Tech is notorious for ball control they average 2 to 1.

Rather than take the easy way out with a one word post named First! which is the equivalent of taking on an NAIA opponent I weighed in with a full paragraph, yet still claimed the coveted first spot. Yet apparently to no avail.

Yo ‘dawgs-

This one’s easy. the Dawgs have great talent, but also have Preacha Man and his Medicine Show masquerading as the coaches. This means, er uh–no coaching.
GT has some mediocre players but real coaching and therefore they are trained, hungry, and motivated.
I’ve been warning the Bulldog Nation to quit drinking Preacha Man’s hallucinagenic elixir Koolaid of false hope. Now it’s time to reconcile the books.
This game is going to be ugly. The Dawgs are gonna get embarassed on national television (again). When the dust has settled, GT will run all over the soft Dawgs in the 4th quarter and will be happy to run up the score. The undisciplined Dawgs will lose by 30+ tomorrow night.
Unless new coaching arrives, it won’t get any better next year as UGA sinks into football oblivion…

I’m not sure I could pull for GT even if they were playing Notre Dame. Having said that, it would probably be better in the long run for Georgia to lose this game. Even someone as totally clueless as Mark Richt must know that the one thing the Bulldog Nation WILL NOT TOLERATE is losing to GT on a regular basis. Lose this one and his job will surely be on the line next year. Ask Jim Donnan.
