UGA in an upset? Tech in a blowout? Your thoughts, please

Here's vivid proof Georgia actually did tackle Roddy Jones. Once. (AJC photo by Pouya Dianat)

OK, folks. You know what I think will happen. (Georgia Tech 42, Georgia 27.) You’ve heard my phony-baloney rationale: Tech is the better and more consistent team. Now I’m asking: What do you think will happen?

Tech blowout? Georgia upset? Overtime at Bobby Dodd? (It happened 10 years ago, you’ll recall.) Questionable call proving decisive? (That has happened a time or two, has it not?) Roddy flying past Reshad down the sideline again? A phantom fumble returned for the winning touchdown? A fourth-down throwaway? Tim Wansley with a seal-the-game INT? Tim Jennings with a seal-the-game INT? Gary Lee with a kickoff return through the fog?

I’m fairly certain you’ve had enough of my blather. I’m also certain you have detailed thoughts on the matter. Please feel free to share. Sharing is good. Sharing is cleansing. Sharing is why I’m here.

I leave you with this one factoid: In the Associated Press preseason poll, one of these teams was ranked No. 13; the other was No. 15. Anyone recall which was higher?

DawgsWin, what makes you think that the Tech fans are going to shut up with a loss tonight? YOU lost last year, and you’re still yappin’.

Truly there are so many ways this thing could ultimately turn out.
One thing I am convinced of Georgia could win comfortably with
the right game plan. Problem is it takes quite a bit of faith to
believe that the coaching staff will come with the right plan.
Assuming the Dawgs don’t have AJ Green it will be important to have
a very good alternative plan of attack. This is the week to give
Branden Smith a lot touches on offense. The kid can blow doors
against Tech. Personally I would use him in the wild dawg and in
the backfield, every creative way I could think of to get the ball
in this kid’s hands at least 10 times. Obviously more foolish play
and the game could be a blowout for Tech. I admit based on play
up to this point I have no reason to think the Dawgs will play reasonably error free. One thing that is not being spoken of and needs
to be in the conversation is that this Dawgs team tackles more
consistently than last years team. That deficency killed Ga. in
the game last year. So if the Dawgs do what seems unlikely and actually
protect the football the chances of the upsey are pretty strong.
Again based on their play there is no reason to expect them to protect
the ball and error free but I have a strong feeling they suprise
and win by 11 let’s say 44-33 Dawgs. Gonna be a heck of a contest.
GO Dawgs!

No way Dawgs play error-free. Combined with lapses in tackling and turnovers it looks ugly for the Dawgs. Don’t think they’ve figured out how to beat the option either – just like last year. A close one, but not as close as last year. Insects get another one.

UGA will make it interesting early and then Ga Tech will take over and the idiotic bandwagon Tech fans can rush the field like the bunch of amateurs that they are.
Then Paul Johnson will sign a 10 year 80 million dollar deal to be the NEW NOTRE DAME COACH.
Enjoy it while you can, d-bag Tech fans.

But seriously, The SEC is a joke of an overhyped conference. Obvious to even the most obtuse.
Also ridiculous is this “talent” ga has. I have to agree w/ Spurrier. Where did it go? Tech played a much tougher schedule than ga & would be undefeated if they played ga’s schedule. Bobo & Cox will both be working at Taco Bell next year.

I’d say about GT49- ga24

I love how the UGA and SEC fans forget about how the doggies have played all year and think they can win this game. And how UGA fans keep thinking “we won 7 years in a row, you won 1 out of 8 and will lose again.”
What have you seen all year from your defense and from Joe Cox that makes you think suddenly you will stop GT’s O and Cox will play error free? And you beat Chan Gailey 7 times, not CPJ.

Jackets put a thumping on the doggies in the 55-21 range. I want it to be so bad that the UGA fans are walking out at halftime, like I had to do in Chan’s first year.

Its is finally the day to get the bugs payed back for all the smacking they’d been doing since last year. I can’t even waiting until UGA blows that high school joke team off fields to shows who owns state and not that arrogant backend Johnson with the gimickeys. Dawgs is unloading the huge whooping can to show nerds what SEC football competition reallys is about.

Nerds have a flukey win last year and they so stupid they thinks they can play againts SEC speed. Dawgs is coming to game mean and hungry and take no prisoner until nerds is dead. After yechies steal hedging last year, we goning to revenges it this years game.

Dawgs D has nows seen that freak showing offenses and we defensing good to stop option this year. Nerdie rushsing stats was made playing wimpies Vandy, Wakes, and Dukes. That aint happening today now that Dawgs D want be surprises any more.

Dawgs youngsters talent lost some games this year but now they experienced ready for yechies. Dawg fans got to bow up and smacking back at bugs because we be state games again by this time next day. The high school boys of nerds is goning to losing big to the Dawg mens.

Final score: UGA 55 – Nerds 6 with Dawgs each taking home a brick out of stadums as a trophies.

Go Dawgs!

I agree with Born2Buzz. Tech has had a better season than Georgia this year so there’s no possible way that Georgia can win. The higher ranked team always wins the game. Just look at last year. Georgia came in ranked 13th after being ranked #1 early in the season. Tech was only ranked 18. Surely Georgia would win the game. Why even bother to play? Just look at the final score,,,who won?,,,Huh….there goes your theory Born2Buzz you friggen moron.

In a battle of surprisingly tough defenses or unsurprisingly inept offenses, this one becomes a defensive dawgfight…

You see tech ’s record and you think they are great but they are one of the worse one loss teams i have seen in a while. Really what great team have they beat this year? I like a 38-24 deal by the Dawgs… All Georgia has to do is not turn the ball over and they would be in the top 5 right now. So more talent at Georgia and you will not see turnovers tomorrow by the Dawgs.

HairyDawg…..ebonics much?! I LOVE that you’re not a Tech fan! I’m loving all the references to uga ‘hanging’ 42 points on Tech last year. The only guy left from that team who scored any points is Greene! Who’s going to THROW him the ball?! Joe Cox?! He will hit our secondary more often than he’ll hit Greene….IF Greene EVEN plays! I love all the fools that talk about, “This high school defense will get killed once people have seen it and can plan for it!” Absolute morons, these people are.

Last year, Tech’s offense averaged 24.4 points a game. This year: 36.0. For the UGA fans out there, that’s nearly a 50% increase.

Last year’s team was 8-3 when it faced UGA (in Athens). This year’s team is 10-1 going into tomorrow’s game (in Atlanta).

Last year’s Tech team had a 3rd-down conversion rate of 36%. The 2009 squad clocks in at 48.7% (3rd in the nation).

This year’s GT team averages 449.6 yards a game, while the 2008 group was at 372.5 (a 77.1 ypg increase).

Yeah, wait till everyone has a chance to plan for the Jackets. Like, you know, that entire 2008 season worth of footage that every team had on Tech.

Does anyone see where I’m going with this?

Hairy Dawg and the rest of the “crazed” Bulldog posters accuse Tech fans of being arrogant about our team. Boy if that’s not the pot calling the kettle black. I can’t say UGA is the most obnoxious group of college football fans (I witnessed a jaw-dropping exhibition at the SEC Championship 2 years ago by the UT fans) but I’d say UGA fans have an incredibly over-inflated opinion of their team’s success. 2 SEC Championships in 26 years? Tech fans…arrogant? Come on.
