UGA in an upset? Tech in a blowout? Your thoughts, please

Here's proof Georgia actually did tackle Roddy Jones -- once. (AJC photo by Pouya Dianat)

Here's vivid proof Georgia actually did tackle Roddy Jones. Once. (AJC photo by Pouya Dianat)

OK, folks. You know what I think will happen. (Georgia Tech 42, Georgia 27.) You’ve heard my phony-baloney rationale: Tech is the better and more consistent team. Now I’m asking: What do you think will happen?

Tech blowout? Georgia upset? Overtime at Bobby Dodd? (It happened 10 years ago, you’ll recall.) Questionable call proving decisive? (That has happened a time or two, has it not?) Roddy flying past Reshad down the sideline again? A phantom fumble returned for the winning touchdown? A fourth-down throwaway? Tim Wansley with a seal-the-game INT? Tim Jennings with a seal-the-game INT? Gary Lee with a kickoff return through the fog?

I’m fairly certain you’ve had enough of my blather. I’m also certain you have detailed thoughts on the matter. Please feel free to share. Sharing is good. Sharing is cleansing. Sharing is why I’m here.

I leave you with this one factoid: In the Associated Press preseason poll, one of these teams was ranked No. 13; the other was No. 15. Anyone recall which was higher?

Anticipating the unrelenting rushing attack Tech will unleash on Georgia, in a nod to Tech’s Trekkie fans, and most importantly, in a face saving gesture to CMR, Tech has agreed to convert rushing totals from yards to parsecs, so it won’t look quite so embarrassing on the Bulldog stat sheet.

A total show of class from CPJ.

Dawgs Win and shut down the egos (and mouths) of the Tech fans that shine once in ever 6-8 years or so. Whatever happens, the dawgnation loves their dawgs, and the tech fanbase….well, they are STILL defined by their UGA hate instead of their love of Tech.

UGA jumps ahead early, but with enough time for Tech to settle down, “play their game” and make those famous halftime adjustments. Yellow jackets pull it out 35-24.

I am a DAWGS Ffan but I am scared about this game. We have the talent no doubt but it seems we don’t have the heart. Tech’s O is too tough to figure out in one week and a short week at that. We had 2 weeks last time and failed. Maybe that is the trick less time to coach down. Hey I have talked myself back into us having a chance. UGA 38 GT 37

If Georgia plays like Georgia, Georgia will win. Georgia’s best chance is to run with some pass to eat the clock and limit turnovers. About 180 yards rushing (Ealey and King need to play big), 250 passing, about a 60% run/40% pass should do it. Cox needs to hit his guys in open spaces in stide and be very efficient. Tech will also have 2 turnovers lost in this game, probably fumbles, 1 by the QB, 1 by the pitchman. I also think Georgia has a BIG special teams advantage and that should be the difference–look for some fake punts, big KO returns, maybe even an onside kick, field goal and punter advantage.

If Ga limits giveaways, they win.

Cox, Bobo, and Willie should be pumped and ready to end the year on a bang.

I’ll admit the Dawgs scare me. They don’t have anything to lose and they should be good and angry after losing to the Wildcats.

How about 28-21 Tech? The Jacket defense isn’t exactly great, especially against the pass (FSU anyone?). If Cox can throw to the guys with a “G” on their heads instead of a “GT”, they won’t get blown out.

Then again, I’m hoping for 49-0 Tech at the half ;)

UGA wins 48 – 13.

Yechs defense can’t stop Ealey & Co. Ref’s start calling all those illegal chop blocks. Nesbit and Jones get their clocks cleaned by Houston and Rashad gets some revenge by nailing Lumpy Johnson on the sidelines. All the little yechsters are sad again as it should be.

UGA owns Yech! Always has, always will.

Remember: If your a yechie…even if you win, you are still a loser.

Hate to think of UGA finishing 6-6, but think Tech will win. Hope Richt will look at what other coaches like Bear Bryant and Vince Dooley did after their programs suffered a slide. All Bear did was follow two six win seasons with about seven 10 or 11 win seasons in a row.

Bulldog Mike, Willie’s pumped every game, but it really doesn’t help him do his job. Nonetheless, maybe Tech will fumble a few times and we actually fall on them (so we can move out of 120th place in the NCAA in that category), and maybe cover on kickoffs (so we can move up from 116th place in that category), and have no turnovers and penalties ( yep, 116th and 119th in those categories), and give them a good game!! Mark, we have seen the kudos come for those who post first. Yet they are noticeably absent from this thread. A shocking omission, reverberating throughout the blogsphere, given the quality of the first post.

We have devolved into a never ending series of bloggers typing nothing more than the word first, in an attempt to gain primacy among bloggers. Yet knowing that there was a golden opportunity to be first, we instead see someone roll the dice and come up with a real post, an astute analysis synthesizing the current Tech meme, Bulldog angst, and a cultural icon all in one.

All this knowing full well that with every quality word typed, the risk was run that the coveted first spot might be taken by those who took the easy way out.

In other words, it was the Internet equivalent of CPJ going for it on fourth and one in the Wake Forest game. In another era, it might have very well clinched a Heisman. Or not. But the real question is, will it clinch the equally coveted Bradley?
