Is it possible to lose to the hated Gators and still feel good? (AJC photo by Pouya Dianat)
Georgia heads to Jacksonville unranked, which it almost never is, and a two-touchdown underdog, which it never is. It will be met by a team that hasn’t lost since September 2008, a team tracking a second consecutive BCS title. (Know how many schools have won consecutive BCS titles? None.)
Put simply, Georgia is up against it in a way unaccustomed to Georgia teams under Mark Richt. It lost to Florida 49-10 a year ago in what seemed a coin-flip game going in. This one is no coin flip. This outcome seems foregone.
But hope springs eternal in the breast of every fan, and on the day before Halloween I want to ask Dawg fans this question: What would you deem an acceptable outcome Saturday?
A narrow and honorable loss? (Within a touchdown, say.) Or is actual victory the only satisfactory result? And here’s a twist: If beating Florida convinces Mark Richt he doesn’t need to make changes within his program, would you rather Georgia lose? Or would beating the Gators when they’re ranked No. 1 be worth another year of Willie Martinez?
I’d put up a poll, but I don’t think the parameters of a poll are broad enough. I’m interested in your thoughts. So rather that click on “yes” or “no,” I invite you denizens of Bulldog Nation to avail yourselves of the white comment box below. And I thank you in advance. And you’ll hear from me again Saturday afternoon from you-know-where.

If and Only IF, Cox play error free and the defense grow a pair. The dawgs can keep it close. If not…….”It will be a long afternoon in Jacksonville. “Good Luck puppie!”

The thing you dumb dogs need to remember is you are a SEC team, not a SEC power. You are the type teams like Fl, Alabama, LSU, anf Tenn play on their homecoming because you are an easy mark. Mark May of ESPN said that Fl will hang half a hundred on the dogs and he is right, your defense sucks and your coaching is pathetic. Tebow will catch nd pass H Walkers record on the dogs, which is awesome, he is a better player than Walker ever was. Hope you enjoy the beat down you get today dumb dogs, Fl will run up the score on you and use all their time outs…..again

nochancedogs you are obviously a Gator fan. A BIG MOUTH and little or no brain. How many yards rushing does your precious Tebow have compared to Walker and how many rushing TDs are for more than 10 yards. GET REAL

Big 10 refs a joke like the sec. Ind just scored a td. The call on the field was a td. The replay confirmed it. The announcers say it’s a td. And they overturn it. What a joke. Guess they gotta keep the osu showdown at night for tv. These refs have to go. It’s becoming a joke.

I do not like Willie Martinez as defensive coordinator. To say that he is a horrible coach would be inaccurate. Since he has been at Georgia he has been a part of some really good defenses( check the stats ). I would be okay with Martinez being demoted back to a position coach in fact I think it has to be done. The fact is a good position coach will not always make a good coordinator. I willie is as loyal to Richt as Richt is to him he will step down. My problem with this Georgia team is the lack of passion i see week in and week out. I watch teams like Alabama and Florida and they consistently beat the will out of their opponents. Georgia Tech is a great example of this. Those players will fight until exhaustion to win a game. Georgia’s coaches are to blame for the majority of the problems but the players should be held accountable for not giving 100 percent all of the time. They need to toughen up. Back to the defensive woes, there is only one solution. Georgia needs to kidnap will muschamp, remind him that he is a dawg, and let him choose his defensive staff.

Tebow is better than Walker? Fact: Herschel Walker only played at UGA for three years. Tebow has been at Florida for four years. An extra year equals extra stats. Another fact: Herschel Walker”s touchdown total only includes those touchdowns scored in regular season games. Tim Tebow’s total includes all games he has played in. one more fact: Herschel Walker was the focal point of Georgia’s offense, to beat Georgia you had to stop walker. If tebow has a bad game Florida can still manage because his supporting cast is much more talented and diverse than was walker’s.Tim Tebow is clearly the most productive player in NCAA history, however alot of players have contributed to that. Look at Tebow’s stats with Percy Harvin and without. Fact is Tim Tebow could not do the same things as herschel walker and to think that he could would be ignorant.

The beating will soon begin. It is amazing how easy the dogs are, almost a scrimmage. I think you should keep this coaching staff together for years and years. 5-7 and watching the Gators play for championships while you sit at home, what a year!

Walker was not that great. His teams never won much, the one NC was bogus, the dogs were scared to play a top 5 in the bowl. Instead they played #10 Notre Dame and barely skated by. If they had played Pitt, Penn St, or USC in a bowl that year they would have been blown out. Walker and Dooley are what is known as closet champions, they were scared to play the best competition. Gators are about to make it 3 out of 4 NC’s, the dogs are nothing

Grambling 10
If only we had Doug Williams at quarterback…
Could we be a worse coached team? Unbelievable. What happened to the 2001-05 Georgia Bulldogs, who were twice an SEC Champion and three times a division champion? The team that beat Florida in ‘04 and owned Tennessee, especially in Knoxville. The “Finish the Drill” and “Knock the Lid Off” guys. Any of them still around?

If you have to alter the sharpest uniforms in the SEC to motivate your team and give them a glimmer of hope, then something is seriously wrong with your program. The uniform changes since ‘07 look like the desperate moves of a coaching staff that has completely run out of ideas.

Time to clean house at UGA. CMR has had nine years, and in that time has beaten FL twice. Sorry. Not good enough. Dawgnation has to get real. CMR is now a mediocrity. Time to move on. CMR, thanks for the memories.

All you CMR haterz are wrong. It’s not CMR’s fault that our players suck azz. CMR didn’t come out and throw an INT on the first play of the 2nd half. All our players with heart and ability have left. You can’t coach garbage.

41-17 in the 4th and it looks simple to me-it ain’t the kids,it’s the coaches. They can’t teach tackling, disipline,or call plays. MR,MB,WM,all need to go IMHO. 119 out of 120 in penatlies, sticking with a quarterback about as accurate as a Lebonese missle, few blitzes, substandard runningbacks,it’s amazing how little MR has done with these great recruiting classes. I’m a long time fan, but I am sick of this. MR’s record the last few years was down to M.Stafford and Moreno, not his,and certainly not Bobo’s coaching. And, please, replace Eric Ziare on the radio. A voice made for silent movies if ever there was one.

The idea of borrowing Grambling’s helmets was brilliant! If only UGA could’ve capitalized on the early moments of the game while the Gators were laughing their azzes off, this could’ve been a different game.
