Normal service has been interrupted due to vacation

I’m off this week. My first week off of calendar 2009. In case you were wondering. If not, that’s OK, too.

Vacation reading: Finished “The Abominable Man” by Maj Sjowall and Per Wahloo. (Swedish detective stories — I’m addicted.) Am three-fourths of the way through “Inherent Vice” by Thomas Pynchon.

Next up: Beats me. Maybe the Neil Young biography “Shakey.” (Finally bought “Archives Vol. 1.”) Maybe a book of short stories by Henning Mankell. (More Swedish detection.) Maybe something else.

Back Monday. In case you were wondering. If not, that’s OK, too.

Mark, if you care to add to your reading list look into ” We Need To Talk About Kevin”, by Lionel Shriver. Everyone I have recommended it ti has loved it. Another good one, it’s a short read, ” The Long Shot” by Katie Kitamura, her first novel. It’s about a MMA fighter, think “The Wrestler”. I hope you enjoy your time off, Bat.

Mark, you need a break after blogging 4 1/2 hours during the GT/FSU & writing that master piece afterwards. An awesome piece I may add. The Georgia/LSU game was good also.

The Jackets, & Falcons will keep winning until you come back. Georgia will be preparing to beat floriduh!

Couldn’t be a better time to take a vacation. The Braves are in the offseason, and the Falcons aren’t in the playoffs yet. Lets face it fans, college football is meaningless and probably the worst of the major sports (even tho im a GT and UGA fan).

Imagine if before the NFL season started u already knew that no matter what, the Falcons couldn’t go to the super bowl because they werent in the preseason top 10? Would that not be LAME …thank God all the other sports have the fans and players best interests in mind!
Mark: Id like to see you do a story on the worlds best fighter (Fedor) take on bigg azz Brett Rodgers. Or how about a story about how GT basketball will probably be in the Final 4 this season!
Not ONE story in the AJC yet this year about how we have the Nations BEST frontcourt (2 top 10 draft pics in Lawal and Favors). Favors is the best player to come out of Atlanta since Dwight Howard! This will be a very special season for GT hoops!

I’ve always enjoyed the Spenser series, by Robert B. Parker, for detective fiction. Didn’t know the Swedes needed detectives.

Rest up before Jacksonville Mark, if the power of the Georgia defense can hold Florida to under 20 points they have a great shot of winning.

Mark, some food for thought while you’re on vacation.

How come Bad Company has not been inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame?

I mean come on!

Have a good vacation, and be weary of Mr. Young…he don’t like us Southern Men, and he shot his baby down by the river.

The dude’s crazy I tell ya.

If you are into Mankell, check out the Wallander series the BBC did this year. Filmed in Southern Sweden with English actors – it was well done. I was able to get it from netflix. Easier to understand than the Swedish films. If you have never been there, you should check it out. Sweden is just about my favorite country – the only problem is they don’t have college football.

Dear Mr. MB–it’s a relief to learn that you are on vacation since I thought, having missed your posting for a day or two, that you might be off on some skanky adventure. Or other. Try reading something to improve your mind instead of that trash you and your bloggers wallow in. But Neil Young is ok. So is Bob Seger. Gordon Lightfoot. Maybe M. Piorot might chime in with a suggestion. Your pal, Leland

Lets see. The NFL & college football are in full swing . The baseball playoffs are in full gear . The NBA season is starting . The NHL is off & running . Yeah , sounds like a great time for a sports journalist to be taking some time off . Your a real chucklehead Bradley . I bet you hate sports don’t you ?

Hey, Mark, how about adding to the list my new book “War Like the Thunderbolt: The Battle and the Burning of Atlanta.” C’mon, enough with the mystery novels and celeb biographies – you could use a little history. The original “Atlanta Flames,” as it were.
