Michael Vick gets a reality show, but hold the outrage
The Los Angeles Times reports that Michael Vick will star in a reality series on BET, only it really won’t be a reality series. Writes Greg Braxton:
“Producers of the Vick series emphasized the program should be considered a docu-series — not a typical reality show like VH-1’s ‘The T.O. Show,’ which revels in the excesses of its flamboyant star, wide receiver Terrell Owens. The tone of Vick’s show, say producers, will be serious and somber as it focuses on his personal struggles since his release, including the strains on his relationships with his fiancée, Kijafa Frink, and his children. It will also revisit the federal prison in Leavenworth, Kan., where Vick spent 1 1/2 years behind bars and the Virginia property where he ran and financed a dogfighting ring.”
The eight-part series, Braxton reports, is scheduled to air next year and is being financed in part by MV7, Vick’s production company. And it has, you should know, already drawn the boilerplate complaint from our pals at PETA. From a spokesman: “People who abuse animals don’t deserve to be rewarded.”
But I say everyone should just hold his/her figurative horses. (”Figurative” because I don’t want PETA mad at me.) I have a prediction, and we know how good I am at predicting, don’t we?
My prediction: Nobody will watch it.
Nobody will watch because — let’s face it — we don’t want to see “serious and somber” in our reality TV. We want to see pseudo-celebrities do silly things. We want to see the Kardashians go shopping . We want to see Kate humiliate Jon on-camera. (Though that rat deserves it.) We don’t want real reality; we want to escape our own personal too-real reality.
Vick to Braxton: “What I want to do is change the perception of me. I am a human being. I’ve made some mistakes in the past, and I wish it had never happened. But it’s not about how you fall, but about how you pick yourself up.”
Not to be totally insensitive, but that sounds far too educational and perhaps even uplifting to make for what is known as Good TV. Because Good TV is fluff. Good TV is junk. Good TV is worthless.
I am, as you might have gathered, not a fan of TV in any manifestation. Except for Kate. I like Kate.

Jenny….. They are ex-cons. But our efforts and money into people whos deserve it. Law abiding folks who have lost their jobs or down on their luck for medical reasons ect. Solve that problem then try and help the folks who decieded to break our laws of our land. Doubt ex-cons are going to get much of that pie, and rightfully so. I guess next you would like to see bank robbers go to your kids school and tell them how they have turned it around!! GEEZ. wake up people.

Vick’s reality series will be a success for the simple reason that a lot of black people look up to criminals and thugs as heroes. Why that is I don’t know. It just is and I suspect its due to a complete breakdown in values and morality in the black community.
70% of black kids are born out of wedlock: black kids in school openly disdain education and call academic excellers “acting white.” And then they wonder why they can’t get jobs later in life cause they can’t read or write. But they think its discrimination instead of illiteracy as the reason they can’t get a job. That gang of black kids beating a black honors student last week in Chicago. That kinda crap happens all the time in majority black schools. Its because all these kids don’t know who their father is or if they do know him they don’t see him anyway. They end up looking up to thugs and criminals, and rap stars as role models. What is it with black parents anyway that they don’t see anything wrong with their kids watching more tv than any other ethnic group(fact verified by numerous studies and surveys) and that all these rap videos are in most cases just soft porn. It just filth watching a booty shaking in the camera’s face in video after video after video.
This is a pretty sick culture and that is why Michael Vick’s show will be successful. Sorry if this sounds racist but everything I’m saying is true.Every black person reading this will say its just racism and want to shoot the messenger rather than acknowledging that the message is true.
I know the truth hurts but its still the truth. Do something about it black america!

Better do your homework. Do you know how whites entered Australia? If you did a little homework, you will know that England’s prison system was overun by LOWLIFES and REJECTS and didn’t want them running around their country.
Therefore, instead of letting them out in their society, they sent all their MOST HARDENED “White” scumbag prisoners and located them in Australia.
To this day, Australia is the only country comprised of white convicts. Check your family history and there is a good chance that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree!

In 1788, the eleven ships of the First Fleet landed their ‘cargo’ of around 780 British convicts at Botany Bay in New South Wales. Two more convict fleets arrived in 1790 and 1791, and the first free settlers arrived in 1793.
From 1788 to 1823, the Colony of New South Wales was officially a penal colony comprised mainly of convicts, marines and the wives of the marines.
The early convicts were all sent to Botany Bay, but by the early 1800s they were also being sent directly to destinations such as Norfolk Island, Van Diemen’s Land, Port Macquarie and Moreton Bay

I just think that its high time that rather than patronizing black people and making excuses for them and their condition I think they need a wake up call. Michael Vick doesn’t deserve to have a reality show. I think we all know this.. He should have his teeth ripped out with pliers, have a chain tightened around his neck, and then tied to a post.. defenseless.. Put him up against the most vicious there is.. and if he doesn’t win- hang him by his collar and shoot him. He deserves worse. I feel bad for his family. They have been living with a monster all this time. I’m surprised he doesn’t take his kids and fight them.

The only reason there are less whites in prison is because they represent most of the lawyers, judges and public safety officials. They own most of the property, have most of the money and make most of the decisions that affect our everyday lives. When you have that kind of power and add to that outnumber blacks by at least 10-12:1, it stands to reasons you can skew the numbers in favor of the whites. Heck, most whites can’t wait to lock up the minorities, no matter how big or small the offense.

Your reasoning and logic are faulty at best, not to mention your stats. There are not 10-12 times as many white people as blacks. There are roughly 6 1/2 times as many whites. Out of a population of approximately 300 million people about 210 million are white (about 70%) roughly 13% are black around 40 million. 13-14% are hispanic, and the remaining 3-4% are Asian and other groups.
Also, owning property or having money has not a dam thing to do with committing the crimes which put people in prison. If you commit a car jacking and or murder and you get caught and their is dna evidence all over your body, car, etc, and the gun on your person matches the ballistics then it doesn’t matter how much freaking money or property you have. You’re going to jail. Unless you’re OJ of course and the majority black jury simply chooses to ignore the DNA evidence of both victims blood on OJ’s socks and the gate to his home.
Your comments have no reasoning or cold, hard stats to back them up. Just your opinion. You couldn’t even get it right that there are about 6.5 times as many whites than blacks as opposed to 10 or 12 times as many. That’s part of the problem is just general ignorance, lack of education, and lack of reasoning and critical thinking skills.
