1. Georgia has played somebody. Two somebodies, actually. Arkansas has played Missouri State.
2. Mark Richt is still King of the Road until proven otherwise. And he has never lost more than one game in an opponent’s stadium in a single season. No, Georgia didn’t win in Stillwater, but it re-learned a lesson there.
3. Orson Charles = Big Time. The best asset an inexperienced quarterback can have is a strong running game, and Georgia hasn’t found that yet. The second-best asset an inexperienced quarterback can have is a first-rate tight end, and this freshman is.
4. The Hogs aren’t quite ready yet. Arkansas is 6-7 under Bobby Petrino, 2-6 in SEC play. Its two conference victories have come by a total of four points. Petrino will get results soon, but not just yet.
5. The game’s at night, and you-know-who likes to slip away under cover of darkness. There’s every chance Petrino could be coaching the Saskatchewan Rough Riders by the time the fourth quarter arrives Saturday. See the above photo for confirmation.
(This completes our all-Georgia Tuesday. Earlier we offered 5 reasons Georgia might well have turned the corner and then, in a flip-flop worthy of Petrino himself, 5 reasons it might not have. If you haven’t availed yourself of those entries, please feel free.)

I think the keys to this game are:
1. Stopping the run, which we seem to have no problem doing so far.
2. Getting pressure on Mallet, which should be considerably easier than Garcia.
3. Forcing some turnovers. This needs work.
4. Keep running. Please Bobo? Pretty please?

Two reasons Dawgs may not win at Arkansas:
1. Willie

Seriously, Mark, don’t you think Petrino’s offense will be able to score at least as many points as SC’s did?

I have no faith in Willie Martinez. I have no faith in Richt to light a fire under these guys. The road warriors of the past were more experienced and had hunger. These guys don’t. They need a master motivator, which Richt is not.

I know they’re all back this year but the Hogs’ D was a shambles last year. The same was true for Oklahoma State, but Georgia’s offense showed some real fire power last weekend against a very good defense.
Road hassles and all, I have a feeling the Dawgs will light it up. As for the defense, if they can get any pressure on Mallet (who has very limited mobility) on critical downs UGA might be able to force some turnovers or (yes, this may actually happen) get a sack or two.

Georgia would have a strong running game if Bobo would give the ball to Samuel more. Georgia went 3 consecutive offensive series in the first half without Samuel touching the ball. This was at a time when Georgia really needed to try and give its defense a rest.

No way. Not with Joe Cox. Sooner or later this somewhat Joe T. rerun (Cox is not Joe T. but he cannot play in the SEC in the long run) will implode.

The single biggest problem on defense in the first two games has been Georgia’s inability to get pressure on the QB. We’re not even getting there on blitz packages. An average QB looks awesome if he has plenty of time to throw. We absolutely have to start getting more pressure.
Richard Samuel looked amazing against a very good SC defense. He has potential to be the best back in the SEC if he keeps finishing runs like that.
Also, Branden Smith could be a Percy Harvin-type of player if Bobo uses him right. Put together more plays designed for him and let him make plays!

It seems that Fayetteville is a difficult place to play, especially for Eastern Division teams, but I believe the Dawgs are battle hardened. Playing in a hostile environment should not be a problem for a motivated, talented team like Georgia; however, for the third week in a row they will be playing a team who has spent their whole off season focusing on them – sounds like one of those “Trap Games”.
The Dawggies can’t afford to lose this game, with their remaining schedule, if they expect to contend for the Eastern Division Title. Pressure on the passer is critical to success for the defense, and a strong running game is a necessity if the offense is to flourish.
Now is the time to make a statement and set the tone for the remainder of the season.

If the Dawgs play a clean game (no turnovers, limited penalties), we’ll win easily. Problem is we haven’t done that in what feels like two seasons. If we play clean, we beat OSU and USC handily. If we keep doing what we’ve been doing, there isn’t a team on our schedule that can’t beat us except maybe TT.

Arkansas will have over 450 yards of total offense in this game. The Dawgs will run into a buzzsaw while Mallet and his back-up put on a passing clinic in Fayetteville. Arkansas 48, Georgia 21. The King of the Road slips away in the darkness, only to discover he’s just been beaten like a rented mule on national TV. Can UGA stop ARK and Bobby Petrino’s offense…uh, probably not. As much as I hate the prick, he is still a very well established offensive mind. Would any of you bet on Willie against Petrino…uh, no! The only opportunity for victory would be for the offense to hold the ball, not commit turnovers, and less than 5 penalties…not likely.
My prediction…ARK 38 – UGA 34

The 2 pre-season games are over and UGA is 1-0 in the SEC. Now the real season starts and I think we will dominate this week. UGA struggles with mobile qbs because Sweet Willie cannot teach tackling for some reason. However, Mullet is not mobile at all, so Houston will keep him on his back most of the day. UGA 42-17.

UGA will win because:
1) Arkansas is from the Sioux word “acansa,” — which means “downstream place” or “south wind.”
2) The state beverage of Arkansas is…milk.
3) The state dance of Arkansas is…square dancing.
4) The state flag of Arkansas was chosen in a contest in 1913 and the design was finalized in…1926.
In summary, UGA won’t lose to a southwind, milk drinking, square dancing, 13 year trying-to-decide-what-to-do-about-a-flag — school.
p.s. my hero, Mark Bradley said UGA will win and I have my life savings ($12.97) bet on the game.

Coastal Hog, Don’t read into Georgia’s pass coverage too much last week. Mallet hasn’t thrown a pass in an SEC game yet this year. If you bank on what your team does against an inferior opponent then you are set up for disappointment. Just ask the Lane Kiffin and the Vols about that. They wiped the floor with Western Kentucky one week and couldn’t score the next. Ryan Mallet might be the next coming of Joe Montana but that is yet to be seen. Petrino is a lowlife and out for himself period. He will leave if the grass is greener on the other side. The Dawgs will be ready to play on Saturday I guarantee it. GO DAWGS!

Let’s see, 5 reasons Georgia could win at Arkansas
1. Electricity is iffy in Arkansas, so Georgia’s offense could score a few times if the lights go out during a power outage
2. The Arkansas scorekeeper could mistakenly give Georgia points after an Arkansas score and no one catches it.
3. Georgia won’t be looking ahead to Arizona State
4. Can’t think of any more.

m,
Stay the helle off of our blogs and worry about blowing up your doll date for tonight. i have decided to only make civil comments on the Tech blogs. If you can’t do the same, then stay the helle out of here.
This game with Arkansas worried me more than any of the 1st four because:
They had a week off.
They have a QB that fits his system.
They have a RB that can make plays.
We can win for several reasons:
Our offensive line must control the line of scrimmage.
Justin Houston must rush the passer since no one else has proven themselves.
We must make them one-dimensional, which we can. If this happens, Mallett has been prone to make mistakes. To Garcia’s credit, SOS has coached him up to take what the defense gives you. Like him or not, WM makes you go the distance and not give up the big play.
No turnovers. Take the lead early and keep it.
Make no mistake, this game will be a war. They want this bad.

5 Reasons The Dawgs Should Win:
1. CWM should play man-to-man defense
2. CMB should establish the run and stick with it
3. CFabris should have our kickers kick out of the end zone
4. Branden Smith should have at least 10 offensive plays
5. CMR should tell the players that for every penalty over 4, the entire team will run 20 gasers.
Why do we have to play these 4 hour, night games on ESPN? Is it all about the money? Peace.

Now on to the game:
This game is HUGE for Arkiesaw and scared me more than any of the 1st four before the season started.
UGA can win but they must make Arkansas one-dimensional and hope that Mallett is not as patient as Garcia was. The lines of scrimmage must be controlled by UGA. Get the lead and keep it. No turnovers.
It will be a war. Anybody that doesn’t think so is way underestimating Arkansas.

I’m rooting for the Dawgs but I think they have their work cut out for them. The Arkansas quarterback is a winner – excellent arm, good big game experience at Michigan and playing in a Petrino-built offense that is kind to great quarterbacks. The Arkansas running game is a bit better than decent too. I think Petrino – as a game coach – is at least equal to Richt. The downside for the Hogs will be the defense. I think it may look our last game like a low scoring one.

Or better yet, how about the square root of thirty-six reasons Georgia’s cheerleaders are all vestal virgins doomed to guard the old campus quad until they all pack up and head for the coast? How about this: four times seven good reasons for thinking the average I.Q. of Georgia’s defensive line is less than that of Arkansas’ offensive line. Come on, Bradley. Wake up! Think, think! Cox and Samuel are settling in and I expect them to take better care of the ball this week. Having King back would also help. Thomas doesn’t appear to be able to do much between the tackles. I also can’t remember seeing Munzenmaier getting much time. I expected to see him sharing time with Chapas and both with Samuel in short yardage.
The real test will be to see if the youngins on defense step up, and if Houston makes a difference in our pass defense. For some reason our defense has trouble playing the man in their zone, but not enough of them can play man coverage. However, I just have to believe that as the year progresses, these kids will learn and react better under fire.

Also, the Arkansas job was a lot better than the Falcons job two years ago. I don’t think Petrino will have a defensive back jump in his face and have his qb sent to prison. I say UGA drops half a hundo on that squirrelly defense and then leaves copies of the petrino letter in the visitors locker room. Justin Houston breaks Mallett into the SEC the hard way. Last time I checked 6.6 yards/ carry was an established running game.

If you want to destroy a program, pick them #1 preseason. Then when they don’t win it, the fans feel deprived and want to fire the coach, past record be damned.
You need sherrif Larry Munson to restore order but he’s retired.

The Dawgs should win if CWM plays man-to-man, CFabris has our kickers kick into the end zone, CMB has at leat 10 offensive plays for Branden Smith, and CMR warns the players that for every penalty over 4, the entire team will run 5 gasers. And, I think there is more to the Caleb King situation than just a hamstring. If it’s attitude, then kick his primma dona, non-performing a$* off the team. Just my opinion. Peace.

This is a tough game to call. I think UGA has better talent overall but then again they have been a disappointment thus far as they haven’t put a complete game together yet on both sides of the ball. The Hogs haven’t played anyone then had a week off.

Ok…people…here we go…why GA-DAWGS will beat ARK-HAWGS
1) Let’s face it people. I have heard Willie Martinez needs to be fired. He is the reason that the DDD is not doing worth a crap. In case you have no idea what DDD stands for, try D*mnD**gD*fnse. It is the players who make up the “D”, not the coach.
2) Caleb King will be used this week, no question about it. Samuel the T-back is running hard…a very early H-Walker…but has some learning to do.
3) AJ Green. One helluva game last weekend…he will pick up steam this game as well.
4) Two upperclassmen LBs are out for the year…bring in the “rookies”…they have nothing to lose except to polish off the Hawg line.
5) Mark Richt…I have never seen one coach so determined and serious as I saw him pace the sideline last weekend. I think he will add that “touch”, henceforward.
6) Mix it up between J-Cox and C-Gray. Even have one split out wide, fool the d-fense a bit. Not a problem with it.
7) With the excitement from the win last week…review of the film this week…playing in some good, soaking rain this week…finishing it off against the Hawg crowd…I mean, why not?
A close one…but let’s call it: Dawgs: 31 Hawgs 20

my what idiots write on this. Who if anybody pro or college has the top speed of the the Ga special teams. Its blinding. GA will find ways to use these guys and others we havn’t seen yet to bedazzle the rest of the way., And Cox will be fine. The scary thing is that they score so fast they force the defense back on the field too much and other teams wind up with lopsided offensive times and otherwise easy scores against a worn out defense.

Maybe he’ll slither out of the stadium at halfime and leave his players notes in their lockers. Ar-Kansas deserves Petrino. They ran Nutt out of the state for this weasel? Remember, they’re the same people who gave us Bill Clinton. Petrino isn’t the stupidest coach in Ar-Kansas history…that honor goes to “Clueless” Lou Holtz. Petrino is only the worst.

Truth,
Almost, but not quite ready for that kind of support, Petrino be damned!
Anyway, I don’t think UGA’s defense is up to it. A finger here, a thumb there, and they would have tied in regulation or outright lost to South Carolina. The Georgia – Ok. State and S.C.- NC State games provide compelling evidence. NC State flat out stuffed everything S.C. tried, for 258 net yards, and State’s defense isn’t exactly ‘Da Bears. And Georgia allowed 24 points to a team that lost to Houston. But that’s irrelevant to UGA hyperventilators, who get downright obnoxious when that is brought up. Yes, the same folks who have brayed that “the Big 12 don’t play defense.” Well, they do or they don’t, right?
This might be the most significant game of UGA’s season as to their real identity. Losing to this mystery team on Saturday would be devastating.

Wooten & Brown did get in the game. No balls thrown their way.
Ya’ll, Caleb King ain’t the answer. Even in the spring game, he never did anything — and that was against our 2nd team D. Something isn’t there. Watched the game on DVR after we got home and when BMc was coaching the RB’s on the sideline after the O came off the field, King was standing on the sideline watching the KO team. He wasn’t anywhere near his fellow RB’s taking in what BMc was saying. I’m not sure if he’s gonna set foot on the field at Georgia again.

I think alot of you guys will be in for a rude awakening come Saturday. We only played Mallett half the game against Missouri State and he still through for 300+ yards. Throwing the ball is throwing the ball, it doesn’t matter who your throwing against. Mallett has also lost 30 pounds since getting to Fayetteville so his mobility has certainly improved since his Michigan days. We have arguably the best running back in the SEC who only got 4 carries for 43 yeards against MSU, so he’s fresh. We also have solid depth behind him that we didn’t have a year ago. We also have arguably the deepest receiving corps in the SEC. Our defense and special teams is the key. If we can keep from kicking the ball out of bounds and our return team performs to their ability (see MSU game opening kickoff for a reminder) this could be a long game for the Dawgs. Our defense is all back. We have an All SEC D tackle, and our linebackers are faster, stronger, and bigger than a year ago. Our secondary is unproven, but I feel like our front seven can put pressure of Peni..I mean Cox. And to the poster who said Fayetteville is a hole obviously hasn’t been there. One of the most beatutiful areas in the country according to numerous puplications. Another thing, I am tired of hearing about Petrino being just for himself. If y’all didn’t know he took a $ 2 million pay CUT to get out of Atlanta. That seems pretty unselfish to me. Georgia has a good team don’t get me wrong, but the Hogs have arrived and they are here to stay, unlike their infrequent visits due to the idiot over at Ole Miss. Petrino will certainly want to run up the score because of the unfair criticism he received after leaving the Atlanta Thugs. I see a 42-14 score in the future. Hogs win big!

This Georgia team maybe average now but the question is will they get better each week? I think they will. Also, I don’t think you can look at the previosu games and determine what’s going to happen on a given week. Fla State, Alabama and Tenn are three good examples last week. They didn’t play as good as they did in week 1 and didn’t play as well as they can. Georgia hasn’t played a really good game yet so odds are they’ll play better this week than last. HOGMD, nice analysis of the HOGS strengths. The defense wasn’t very good last year and this year it is the same players. SC’s defense is better. This time of year is not a good time to have a week off. Hogs timing will be off. Mallet will get more pressure than Garcia did and he is not as mobile. We’ll get some sacks and turnovers. Should be a very good game.

Let’s add a few more since Bark did such a great job of using useless intangibles instead of actually using legitimate reasons why UGA *should* win, such as Arkansas’ potential coverage issues on AJ Green or stopping Caleb King once he gets in the secondary.
6. The AJC hires mouthbreathing morons like Bark to write for it and wonders why circulation is in the toilet. The last person worth reading in this newspaper was Lewis Grizzard and he took any shred of journalistic integrity with him. Can’t wait for the next “John Smoltz doesn’t like me” column. Self-indulgent crap.
7. Instead of doing any of the above and offering a shred of credible reading, he resorts to “you-know-who slips out under cover of darkness” crap. Can’t wait until TMZ’s hiring freeze is up, maybe you can actually get a call back for an interview.
8. Find me a Falcon fan who wishes Petrino was still here. Find me an Arkansas fan who isn’t glad he is in Fayetteville. Do you think that Falcons team goes 11-5 last year WITH Petrino. Seems like the whole world has moved on except you. You should try it sometime except it would leave you devoid of your last topic to write about (until John Smoltz comes back to pitch against the Braves next season, that is).
9. Mark Richt is king of the road.
Except the last game he coached in this year with the same kids going to Fayetteville for THIS game, which is all that matters.
Oops.
Nevermind.
10. Arkansas has played nobody. Well, neither did Oklahoma State until Houston came to town apparently. Oh, and will we get this when Tennessee Tech comes to town or will you be back on writing about senior ladies ALTA like you should be.
Do us all a favor, Bark. Call Furman Bisher, rent a car of your choice and drive out of this town in any direction desired but don’t come back. I’ll even be willing to pay for it. Hire Dawggirl from post #3 to do your job. She managed to more succinctly put the keys to the game in her 44 word post than your inane psychobable ever came close to doing.

Unselfish? He wanted to ride vick through the nfl and when he didn’t get to coach him and things went sour he tucked his tail and ran. If he was unselfish he would have stayed and worked with what he had. He should have been man enough to at least finish out the season! It’s all good though, we are for the better now, we have a good coach and better qb now. Good thing for the Hogs is that VanGorder is with the Falcons and not the Dawgs, or we would wipe the floor with them. As far as your passing game, our D isn’t great by any means but is sure much better than Missouri St. So we will see just how good your O really is. If you struggle against us then what about the rest of the SEC? We have DE Justin Houston returning this week and he should bring us a better pass rush. He was very impressive in our srping game. And your qb is not very mobile from what I understand so he should create trouble. We have talent on this team, just our coaching is suspect, in particular on D. It’s going to be interesting.

As far as your points go, Mark, don’t really get where you are coming from. As far as UGA’s two tough games goes, they haven’t really wowed anyone in either of those games. They looked pretty inconsistent all around. If you think a TE is a great thing to have, then I’m sure glad the Hogs will have the advantage in that category. As good as Charles is and will be, he’s not DJ Williams yet. If the Dog D leaves him open like they did Saunders, Mallett will throw for 400 yds. There’s not a group on UGA’s offense better than Arkansas’s right now. You can make an argument for the line, but that’s not much of an advantage if any.

Admit, even though Georgia should win, you are concerned that Petrino and the Hogs might beat you. Love him or hate him, Petrino knows how to score points, and this year he has a 6 foot 7 inch 5-star QB taking the snaps. Georgia’s talent should win this game, but Petrino does scare you a bit, now doesn’t he?

Tell your self what ever you need to about Petrino, he’s an effin idiot. BVG was trying to better his career. Petrino left the pro’s because he didn’t have the star player he expected. He came to the Falcons with the idea that Vick was the qb for his type of offense and when he knew he wasn’t coming back, he bailed, bottom line.

It’s real simple: The GA offense (without 2 NFL first rounders) will have to score more than Willie Martinez soft defensive schemes (not players) give up! Only 9 times out of 12 we could do that last year. This year ???

Just a quick note to all the folks talking up Georgia’s talent level: don’t underestimate the talent on this Hogs roster. We’ve got some very talented (though very young) playmakers on this team, so be prepared to start seeing a heavy dose of Arkansas highlights on Sportcenter in the coming seasons. But this year you need to worry about the handful of veterans we’ve got–Tight End DJ Williams is a freak and RB Michael Smith is arguably one of the best backs in the SEC and can run all over any team (all 5′7″ of him). The Hogs are due (loooooooong overdue, actually) for a win against UGA. If we don’t get you this year, we’ll get you next year. Be ready.

First I would like to say that since Coach Richt got here in 2001 this has been the longest period of sustained excellence in the history of Georgia Football. Winning over 78% of our games under him with 2 SEC Championships and won or shared the East Division 5 times has spoiled all of us. Fellow Dawgs I have a plan to help our team, the biggest problem we have had since Coach Richt got here is 2 to 3 games a year our team has shown up with no fire/intensity/passion whatever you want to call it. This has led to uninspired performances in games that we should have either won or at least been competitive in and cost us at least 2 to 3 more SEC Championship game appearances i.e. 2004, 2007 and possibly last year and 2 NC appearances i.e. 2002 and 2007. I have noticed that whenever the clamor starts mounting on firing coaches especially when Coach Richt’s name starts getting tossed around then we start seeing our team playing with more intensity. So if we as fans turn up the heat and keep it going then hopefully we won’t see anymore letdowns like we have seen each year and as we saw at Oklahoma State the first ballgame. Also, with this pressure maybe it will finally sink into the coaching staffs head that we stay with what is working until the other team stops us instead of this helter skelter play calling that seems to crop up every game when we are having success running the ball and for whatever reason we abandon the run altogether for multiple series at a time.

What is it with the Caleb King bashing? Are any other players subject to the gossip mill when they are injured? I haven’t heard or read anything from any Georgia coach or player that suggests he’s not working hard and hasn’t worked hard to get back in the game. Do you think any other injury is “prima donna” behavior? It’s an injury and that’s it. Injuries happen in football.

I think the offense needs to stop giving away the ball and good field position for opponents before we start getting on Willie’s back. The defense has proven to be strong in the interior, and actually was getting good pass rush vs. SC…its just that Garcia was too mobile.
There are definitely some issues with covering the flats… and guys not playing the zone correctly… but i want to see how well the defense does with zero- to one offensive turnovers.

Let’s give some real x and o reasons as to why UGA could beat Arkansas.
1. Arkansas’ D is still unproven
2. Arkansas’ Special teams is anything but special, just yet
3. Arkansas hasn’t played anyone yet…
Now, to the other side…..
1. Ryan Mallett
2. Running game. 3 guys who could start ANYWHERE else in the SEC
3. Wide receivers and tight ends. That’s right, Arkansas has wide receivers. You wouldn’t know it since no one could get the ball to them last year, but they will shine Saturday night.
4. The Razorbacks and the ENTIRE STATE have had this game circled ALL summer.
5. Bobby Petrino. Yes, the guy you all love to hate is now the head man at Arkansas. He’s a winner and he isn’t going anywhere. Maybe after they embarrass the dawgs, everyone will quit saying that. There is plenty of Money in Northwest Arkansas to keep him there. Trust me.

Whether it is the Arkansas game or the TN Tech game, I still invision QB Logan Gray or Aaron Murray in a roll out of the pocket to avoid the rush scheme, throwing the ball to our speedsters out in the flats. That creates a perfect “look” to offer up for SHORT passing, QB keeping it or QB pitching it to the trailing backs. With our fullbacks blocking abilitiies ……………this scheme is do able. We ought to be able to really move the chains …………then bust one wide open with speed.
Can Cox roll out? Is he simply too slow and slow footed? We need to get more than AJ in the passing game. Throwing it to him with three guys jumping up all around AJ is gonna hurt us badly one game. Must get the ball to the MANY other skill players or we are looking at a 6-6 year. We should strive for maybe, possibly 8-4 with this UGA team. Too in-experienced we are to win much more than 7 or 8.
It starts with Arkansas.

This game makes me very nervous. After getting beat up last year I’ve been looking forward to this game for a year. This game will tell a lot about my hogs, but I still feel in my heart of hearts we are a year or two away. Our D is terrible and the Dawgs are so physical on offense I’m not sure how we will stop them from scoring. I do think we will be able to score as well, I just hope it’s enough. Good luck to the Dawgs, I hope you guys have a great season, but just not this week. GO HOGS!!!

Based on these comments, there are going to be a lot of unhappy Georgia fans on Saturday night. The Dawgs won’t know what hit them. Georgia fans are committing a logical fallacy. They don’t realize that a team can better with experience and better players, and they also don’t realize that a team that was good last season may not necessarily be good sans Stafford and Moreno.

For me, the problem is putting my faith in two people that have done little to nothing to make me put my confidence in them. Bobo and Martinez. Some of you think it’s beating a dead horse, maybe it is. Bottom line is whether it’s a tackling thing, assignments missed, scheme problem, or personnel, it all falls on the coach. They recruit them, they work with them in practice. If they aren’t prepared it falls on them, if they are undisciplined it falls on them.

2nd- Arkansas quarterback actually has more experience (4 starts, 4-0, 3-0 at Michigan) than Cox
3rd – Arkansas will destroy and embarass Georgia secondary winning easily 40-17.

There will be much gnashing of teeth for the Georgia faithful Saturday night. Sad thing is, you’ll all be complaining about your coach, your team, your fans, and your future, and will totally fail to acknowledge that you were simply beaten by a better team. Meanwhile, the Razorbacks will march on though the season, tearing and slashing through the opposition.
Based on an analysis of these posts, it appears that about 2% of your sorry state understands what actually happened with Petrino and the Falcons, and the rest of you are still waiting on callbacks for the “Deliverance” sequel.

Mark,
There’s some issues w/ your points:
1. Being tested early isn’t really a big deal. Arkansas has returned nearly our whole team from nearly a year ago that played against SEC competition.
4. How can you say the Razorbacks “aren’t ready yet.” This based upon what? An astute journalist would have researched and found that the Razorbacks only used a small portion of Petrino’s playbook last season, due the transition from the less-complex Nutt system. Therefore, not only do the Razorbacks better understand the offense, but there will be a lot of new stuff that wasn’t run a year ago. You might ask, “well, how can an expanded playbook be a big deal?”
Ask any recruiter which is better, a guy that can run a 4.4 that’s not real sure what he’s doing, or a guy that runs a 4.5 that has good instincts. The answer will always be the 4.5 40 guy, b/c the 4.4 guy is playing at a 40 in the 4.6-4.7 range. Therefore, the Hogs should be faster this year with a better understanding of the new schemes.
I’m not saying the Hogs will win 10 games this year, but they should be a much better football team.
5. This was just a low blow on your behalf. Writing for an elite news outlet such as the AJC, you owe both your employer and readers more integrity. Whether or not you realize the fact, AJC is highly regarded everywhere, and snide remarks toward an event that occurred over a year ago serves no purpose but stirring up a fanbase. Please act with more integrity; it’s your fiduciary duty.

You weren’t yet born when the Razorbacks last played in the Orange Bowl, and I dare say your dad may have been having his diaper changed when Arkansas had it’s football national championship.
Maybe, were you to consider it from our perspective, none of that means that we can’t kick your tail all around Dickson Street this weekend; it just means that it’s been a while since we had a competent coaching staff.

I wouldn’t be getting all cocky, dawgs. AR is not a gimme game. As bad as we were last year, we improved and managed to pull a W out our asses over LSWho in the last game of the season. We’ve had a whole year to get better. Throw in the fact that BP may want to get a little payback for the way you treated his family…well, you get my drift. You just don’t eff with somebody’s family without expecting some form of payback, and it very well could happen on a football field. Just something to think about. The fact that you are all more pissed off at Bobby Petrino for leaving the Falcons than you are pissed off at M. Vick the Falcon QB Dog Killer is a bit ironic, since you are Dawgs. To me it comes down to PSI on our opponent’s backfield. Defense wins close games. Giving up 407 yards last weekend is not what I who call having a “good” day. Few hurries by our opponents qb. When your opponent has almost double the number of first downs than your team it is not having a “good” day. Defenders of our defense say our defense had to defend a short field, which was true, but they must also accept the above facts. Little PSI on the opponent’s backfield will catch up with us in a hurry as we go through our tough schedule. PSI MUST BE APPLIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DEFENSE

I love you optimists. Defense, running game. SC and Okst passed all over the defense. Offense turned over the ball for points. Granted SC had a difficult time getting in the end zone but they dominated the time, in fact everything but the score. So, unless there is a huge turn around, like Popeye eating spinach, I think the Dawgs will struggle with most people on the schedule and lose more than we will like.
