Doing my due diligence on Willie Martinez’s defense, I ran across an eye-opening score on Page 163 of Georgia’s 2009 media guide. The score from last year’s Georgia Tech game is reported as Georgia 42, Tech 42. Which would be a tie. Which would be, from the UGA perspective, wholly preferable to reality.
We all know Tech and Georgia can’t even agree on which side has won how many games in the bitter series: Georgia claims 59 victories against 37 losses and five ties; Tech claims 39 victories against 59 losses and five ties. Still, it’s not often we see a loss turn into a tie. (Although Georgia folks still insist a win became a loss in 1999 when Al Ford and his crew failed to see Jasper Sanks not fumble.)
So this was pretty odd, and definitely amusing. Even Claude Felton, Georgia’s Hall of Fame publicist, laughed off the typo. “I guess we felt like a tie was better than a loss,” he e-mailed. (Though he did note the score and the result — Tech won 45-42 — are correct in the all-important series standings.)
In 2004 Georgia had great fun with Reggie Ball’s fourth-down throwaway: “A math school and the players can’t count to four?” So consider this numerical payback: All the calculators on all the computers at Michael Adams’ university? They stop functioning above 42.

Give them a few years, there will be an asterick besides the 1999 game as well as last year.
What a bunch of schmucks over there. Considering they turn off the scoreboards immediately after a loss. Now they can’t bring themselves to put the correct score in the media guide.

No worries, Mark. After all, the guy in charge of the media guide is a former UGA football letterman, who, when awarded his letter, asked his coach to read it to him.

Doesn’t apply to this story, but have to put this somewhere. Isn’t everyone feeling so sorry for Rick Pitino? That bad media reporting “lies”. His family has gone through pure hell because of the media? NO RICK, they are in pure hell because you couldn’t keep your pants on in a restaurant, when you were married, even with your assistants just around the corner hearing it all. How about taking some responsibility? We tell that to athletes all the time… Vick, Plaxico, etc. Don’t let Pitino play the part of the victim. That would be like the Governor of SC saying how he has been mistreated. Ptiino’s no different, I feel sorry for both their families, but lets get it correct as to whose fault it is that their families are in this position. Tell Pitino to step up and deal with it, not whine about how he is being mistreated.

Mark, you’re working hard to fuel the UGA Hate you all at the AJC are trying to achieve. UGA had a better season than Tech did last year as evidenced by the better record, the better bowl game, the better bowl game result and the better final ranking. Yes, Tech snuck out with a 3 point win to win the game for the first time in 8 years; but, UGA had a better season. UGA returns deep lines on both sides of the ball, a strong group of linebackers, solid running backs and receivers, and a 5th year senior at QB whose only fault was having to play behind the #1 overall pick in the last NFL draft. All of these things are part of the reason why the national media, the national coaches and even Jeff Sagarin have UGA ranked above Tech this year, as well.

Is it me or does UGA have an unbecoming knack for miscalculation? In the Florida series, they claim 47 wins (please correct me on this number if it’s inaccurate) while UF claims only claims 46 losses. As for the typing errors, they’re exactly that; errors. While I tend to disagree with Bradley on a lot of topics (i.e. his unmasked disdain for my Gators), I still usually enjoy his articles. I have to say, however, that we stand exactly one week before the opening game of the season and it would seem that a sports writer for a major news publication would have much more material on which to report. At any rate, I would like to chime in on a debate that I saw in yesterday’s sports section. Barnhart inadvertantly sparked an argument between UGA and Bama fans by having the cojones to put AJ Green and Julio Jones in the same class. Obviously, Dawg fans staunchly stood behind Green, while Bama fans did the same for Jones. The decisive factor here for me is the fact that AJ Green amassed more yardage and more TD catches in one fewer game than Jones (Bama played in the SEC title game). Advantage; Green. Please let me know what y’all think!!

Denial
UGA is always in denial. Even after the Alabama crushing last year, you could hear some Dog fans mention that the score did not reflect how well UGA really played. Give me a break….the score reflected just how UGA played, horrible.
The bottom line is that UGA is totally embarrassed and ashamed that they got beat by an engineering school with a first year coach from the Naval academy.
In terms of the overall record, UGA could never man up and admit the 2 losses in the media guide, because the program is just that arrogant and lost.
This entire article is why UGA is so hated and disrespected in the D-1 football, which is due to the fact they respect no one, and think their program is flawless. LOL!!!

From what I read in the recruiting period and what I am reading now simply does not make sense. Did CMR get some talent during the recruiting period? Are all the teams better than the dawgs? I just know that the schedule is tough and it is not because we are playing Ok st. The schedule is tough because we are playing 8 sec teams. Of course we know with OK, USC, Ohio St., and any team with a wimpy schedule in the other conferences will automatically get a bye to the BCS. I just want to watch sec football. go dawgs!

No college

Just donuts, computer screen and blow up dolls for the interception idiot. Ah, what a life.
I predict 9 or 10 wins for UGA. I also predict an opening day win. I also predict Florida will win the SEC if Tebow stays healthy. I also predict they will lose a game along the way.
The UGA/Tech game at the end of the year can actaully have two teams with 18, 19 or 20 wins in it. That would be fun to see.

Look, the bottom line is that UGA is embarrassed to only have 1 national title in 116 years. Most other programs have 8-12 titles, but the UGA program just cannot seem to get off the ground.
They hired Donnan, who was a quality coach, but the program ruined him. They go out and get Ray Goof, an average recruiter and former player, who had no clue about coaching. They hire Bobo as their OC, who was the leading interceptor during his career and cannot formulate a consisent offense.
The program is in trouble and no one can admit it. “The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem, and UGA has a major problem.”

Not too surprising considering their media guides are wrong about the number of national championships as well. UGA has 1 in 1980. They claimed the other 1 (or 2 depending who you talk to) DECADES afterward. If you can’t claim the NC the year it happened how can you claim it decades later?

Didn’t we just have a discussion regarding the best tuition investment between the two schools? It appears that Georgia’s inability to get their own media guide correct reflects their consistent compromise and apologies for their substandard education capabilities and subhuman academic “graduates.” Forget Jan Kemp, just remember the Jim Harrick Jr’s (son of the head basketball coach) credited course FINAL EXAM, “Coaching Principles and Strategies of Basketball” comes to mind. For those of you who do not recall, the following questions are from that exam. No wonder they cannot get their media guide correct.

I will say 2 things: 1-Classy move by tech losers vandalizing our stadium after their fluke win
2-When we broke those long losing streaks to uf and tn, I actually acknowledged what a relief it was to fiknally win those games, and that it had been embarrassing losing all of those game.
-The fact that the score was put on rings just further emphasizes that tech football is a joke, and their fans are as simultaneously pathetic, clueless and obnoxious as any in college football!

PJ’s policy is to get rings for his teams that go to bowl games and to let the team (seniors) decide what to put in the design.
The 2008 seniors decided to put the score of the UGA game on one side.
The rings were not made for winning the game, the score was simply incorporated into the design.
Yet, the illiterates (guess who) continue to believe there would have not been rings except for the win over the dawgs.
……and even after reading this (or having it read to them), they’ll continue to insist that’s the case.

Gosh, I surely hope not! See the final exam posted above, for a perfectly good reason why.
And half of your “blue chippers” couldn’t get through a single semester at GT.
Oh, and how’s the team doing with all those “blue chippers” anyway? Preseason #1 last year, how’d that turn out for you?
If you are getting all the “blue chippers” then maybe you have a coaching problem? I hear Jim Donnan is available.

Far from a redneck interception idiot. Just call them like i see them and you are a WIMP.

Won’t admit where you went to college because you didn’t go.
You rag on Mike Bobo for his year in 1996 where he had a lot of interceptions. Why don’t you talk about the fact he was playing for a new coach?
Why don’t you talk about 1997? Why don’t you talk about him beating Florida that year? Why don’t you talk about his stats for that year? Why don’t you talk about his Outback Bowl record for completions in a row and overall completion percentage?
Why? Because you are a tool. A wimp. An idiotic, ignorant, no college attending moron who spends his free time dissing the UGA football team.

No surprises here. This from a school that chooses to delete from it’s record books losses to GT in 1941 and 1942, but counts their victories from that year. Idiots!
Really then the UGA wins against GT from ‘80 through ‘82 should be stricken from the books –Herschel Walker was essentially seven personalities (hence seven players) using one scholarship. that’s a no no.

Look, any progam that cannot man up and admit 2 miserable losses is quite frankly one of the mosts pitiful and non-respected programs in the country.
Even other larger and better programs never take losses off the books, but only UGAY does and the crux of why they are do disrespected and hated. It is always someone else’s fault, and not their fault.
It is a total joke and the main reason everyone takes great joy watching them lose, and 2009 should be a windfall year for watching UGAY lose and drop out of the top 25.
