Dawgs in denial? Last year’s Georgia Tech score: 42-all

A typo? Sure. But a Type A typo if ever there was one. (Photo by M. Bradley)

A simple typo? Sure. But a Type A typo if ever there was one. (Photo by M. Bradley)

Doing my due diligence on Willie Martinez’s defense, I ran across an eye-opening score on Page 163 of Georgia’s 2009 media guide. The score from last year’s Georgia Tech game is reported as Georgia 42, Tech 42. Which would be a tie. Which would be, from the UGA perspective, wholly preferable to reality.

We all know Tech and Georgia can’t even agree on which side has won how many games in the bitter series: Georgia claims 59 victories against 37 losses and five ties; Tech claims 39 victories against 59 losses and five ties. Still, it’s not often we see a loss turn into a tie. (Although Georgia folks still insist a win became a loss in 1999 when Al Ford and his crew failed to see Jasper Sanks not fumble.)

So this was pretty odd, and definitely amusing. Even Claude Felton, Georgia’s Hall of Fame publicist, laughed off the typo. “I guess we felt like a tie was better than a loss,” he e-mailed. (Though he did note the score and the result — Tech won 45-42 — are correct in the all-important series standings.)

In 2004 Georgia had great fun with Reggie Ball’s fourth-down throwaway: “A math school and the players can’t count to four?” So consider this numerical payback: All the calculators on all the computers at Michael Adams’ university? They stop functioning above 42.

Tech fans, Mr Bradley has a blog about our favorite “D” coord at UGa and the dog fans are really trashing him. You guys remember Cuz and friends starting the FOC? It might be time for Tech fans to come to the “D” of Willie. FOW does not sound correct…any suggestions?

For real Nerds?, it IS a lame argument….the ncaa doesn’t seem to have a problem with it…WHY do the mutts?! You gotta think all of the ‘legal’ issues were handled appropriately before those men stepped onto the field. The pups lost and ya’ll can’t handle it. I DO realize that these games were played during the war… these guys were in the military…could’ve gotten called up ANYTIME! No need for syntac….GO TECH!!!

If there is anything to summarize U[sic]GA, that photo is it. Maybe the folks in Athens ought to leave the state of Georgia once a decade. And learn to count. Q.E.D.

Dawgs are always legends in their own minds. They probably won the national championship last year. Its not who you are. Its who you think
you are.

And we all know that 1n 99 the refs gave the game to UGA. Sanks did not
fumble. The Clark County Fishwrap reports that Tech has never beaten
UGA.

UPDATE PLEASE: Speaking of Reggie Bush…whatever happened to him? Did he try playing at any professional levels after he left Tech?

For real Nerds? said: “The UGA players went off to fight for our country in WWII. Typical Nerds putting their own spin on things. We STILL dominate your sorry arses wi9th or without those 2 games. Let me guess Technik: you have a pocket protector and tape holding your glasses together in the middle!?”

I believe this has been stated already in this thread but here I go anyway. Tech also had players go and die in WWII, just like you precious dawgs. AND, U(sic)GA had winning seasons in ‘43 and ‘44 BUT only discounts there losses to Tech both years. WTF? I don’t know who I disrespect more, the University(sic) who published the scores or the retard fans that hang on to this self-righteous patriotism from the 1940’s.

Let’s not forget who holds the most National Titles, Conference Titles, and longest winning streak in this bitter rivalry. The good ole’ White & Gold!!!

Yes, Tech got rings for the bowl invit but no for beating UGA. You guys got rings for your first SEC champ in twenty years. UGA players promptly starting selling them! Some things never change. Munson; “they are going thru us like we were Wake Forest or Maryland” Actually, those teams are better than UGA. THIRTY YEARS and counting!

I really like UGA’s team this year. I think the QB position is underrated. Joe will deliver as good or better than Stafford. Our offensive and defensive lines are one of the best in the nation and that is a recipe for success.

Did I hit a nerve with telling the truth? You see Spike, sometimes the truth just hurts, plain and simple…

Look, UGAY means well and tries real hard, but just always come up short. There is no way to defend your program, and if not for Barnhart and the AJC there would be nothing to talk about.

Someday you might run with the Big Boys…some day…

“Whats the Good Word?”, don’t be surprised by the ‘take away the third quarter” statement….the mutts have a history of ‘taking away’ complete games!

“Speak for yourself wreack….”, better chance at winning a BCS title and STILL nothing to show for it!

“Life coach”, NICE!!!

Now I’m just a dumb guy that drives a truck. But even I know that the game last year against Arizona was played in ARIZONA (AZ) not Arkansas (AR). Then again, being an old truck driver I know state abbreviations.
