5 reasons UGA shouldn’t be worried about Joe Cox

1. He was considered the No. 1 QB from the day Matthew Stafford turned pro. When last Georgia went into a season without a holdover quarterback, Mark Richt threw the competition open to four candidates, Cox among them
2. He has the respect of his mates in a way few quarterbacks — D.J. Shockley would be an exception — ever do. Asked after spring practice to name the team leader, 107 of 110 Bulldogs famously voted for Cox. The other three voted for Ralph Nader.
3. He seems, as A.J. Green has said, to have “the complete confidence” of offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. Three years ago, Joe Tereshinski III was considered just “a game manager.” The playbook seems more open now.
4. He has two hugely gifted receivers in Green and freshman Marlon Brown, which means every throw won’t have to be on the button.
5. He should be working behind a better offensive line than Stafford ever had. And if you don’t think a O-line can aid and abet a new quarterback, please consult Matt Ryan of Flowery Branch.
(Not to get all wishy-washy on you — too late, I fear — but here are 5 reasons Georgia should be concerned about Joe Cox. And, coming a bit later, I offer 5 reasons Matthew Stafford left Athens without a title.)

Irony: A Tech doofus spouting off on here that UGA will have an average year when Tech went 9-4 last year, gave themselves rings after they beat UGA by 3 points for the first time in seven years, lost to those goober teams in the ACC, crushed by LSU and UGA has not lost six games in years. Irony, indeed.

Pitbull, stop with the conspiracy theroy moron. MB never claimed that UGA had a QB controversy. He gave five reasons to worry about Joe and five reasons not to worry. But ALL of his points were about one quarterback, because there is no controversy to speak of. Here is a quote from the article you obviously didn’t read…”He was considered the No. 1 QB from the day Matthew Stafford turned pro.” And I would hesitate to criticize someone’s research when you have obviously missed the FIRST line of the article in question.

m, Nesbit got lucky last year ONLY hobbled by a ankle injury. Getting hit 25-30 times a game( even by a pansy ACC defense), it’s only a matter of time before he’s in street cloth’s watching. I hope not, I want to play ya’ll at your best.

Nesbit WILL be injured by the UGA game, and GT will get blown out and for the whole offseason we will have to hear the f’ing Nesbit was hurt we didn’t have our whole offense wah wah wha boo hoo hoo. Take it to the bank, with Jaybo out Nesbit has a huge bullseye on his chest and will have to play with injuries or sit out with injuries by the 6th game. I don’t wish this on anyone, not even Tech players but I think GT fans are kidding themselves if they don’t think this is what’s going to be their achilles heel.

With Aaron Murray behind center and Carlton Thomas in the backfield I believe we can win the SEC and possibly a NC this season. With Cox behind center and Richard in the backfield I just don’t have confident in them.

Joe knows the playbook. Ex dawg Tony Gilbert says Cox was better than Staff in his book. he has been there one year before Staff, and one year after. the players trust him, the coaches believe, and the fans will love him. Not your average Joe.

If I were UGA, I’d be a little afraid. They’re going into the season with an unproven QB who doesn’t have any experience (in-game).

Good point. We largely stunk until 1991. But that doesn’t change the fact that our qb is a stud the great Tebow. You simply cannot deny the fact that your qb is just plain goofy looking. Nobody wins with such a goofball at qb. When’s the last time you saw a really goofy looking qb win anything. Oppy just aint got it in him. I just started bawling laughing when I saw the pic of this guy. I’m surprised the Tech fans haven’t picked up on this yet.

Nesbit will be fine. There isn’t anyone in the basketball conference who can hit hard enough to hurt someone. UGA put him out for two plays and Shaw got manhandled like a rag doll. Nesbit comes back in and makes a perfect pitch, the runner makes a great run down the sideline, and defensive back makes a perfect shoulder swipe like an old lady trying to get to the dollar table and GT scores. This is CPJ offense for 25 years and nobody can stop it. Oh wait. What about GW,UNC and LSU?

Just run the football on offense and stop the run on defense, play sound special teams and don’t turn it over and you will be in every game.
If you can hit your receivers in stride and let them run then you won’t have to throw the deep balls.
If Cox had of been a Jr. or Sr. the year Matthew came along he would have started over Matt or JoeT.

With the recruiting UGAY has done the past 10 years, it’s hilarious that the best QB they can come up with is Joe Cox. He might turn out ok, but with top 5 classes every year you should have a top 5 QB. Joe Cox is a long ways from a top 5 QB. Then, the best RB they can come up with is Richard Samuel. Another unimpressive player. For all you ugay fans that were displeased with Stafford wait till you get a load of Joe Cox !

Looked like “Playing football since 1991″ got my sarcasm, and jumped in. You “dawg” fans are always on the defense (defending having great recruiting classes and not developing the players, or defending why you have two top 12 players drafted yet can’t win the National Title) about football related issues. I can’t imagine any current UGA tailback has the talent of Moreno, but I can see a bigger Samuel being a problem if the line lives up to its hype. Nobody likes tackling big, strong dudes when they have a full head of steam moving forward. And if he bruises the defense, Thomas (maybe King too) can jet through the defensive holes.

Biggest difference in Florida football history and Georgia. The trophy case at Georgia is old and creaky and had to be refinished. The trophy case in Florida is pretty new and was made in China. Nuff Said.
