T. Boone’s line on UGA-OSU: Cowboys by 363 points

I’ve picked Georgia to lose to Oklahoma State by 10 points. T. Boone Pickens, who has more money than Arthur Blank and I put together, likes Georgia to lose by 363 points.

When I read T. Boone’s “predicted” score of 387-24 in a post by Terrance Harris on Fanhouse — thanks to observant reader Dink for the tip — my first thought was that the oil wildcatter has obviously been scouting Willie Martinez. But after reading Dave Sittler’s original column in the Tulsa World, I’m not sure this was an actual prediction. Sittler used the word “requested,” which is a bit different.

Example: I would like to request that Mr. Pickens give me 165 million bucks, but I’m not predicting he will.

T. Boone is 81. (He and the fourth Mrs. Pickens traveled to Athens in 2007 when OSU lost to the Bulldogs. Both Boone — his pals drop the “T” — and Madeleine spent some time in the press box. They seemed nice.) Three years ago the oilman gave the OSU athletics department $165 million. The refurbished edifice Georgia will enter on Sept. 5 is, you’ll be shocked to discover, named Boone Pickens Stadium.

TBP is already on record as believing his Cowboys will enter their regular season finale against Oklahoma unbeaten. Sittler quotes Pickens thusly: “I know I stuck my neck out in that Tulsa World column when I said we’re going to be 11-0. And I still believe that’s what we’re going to be, but it’s going to be tough getting there. We have to beat Georgia first if we’re going to be 11-0, so I think we’re going to win that game.

You’ll also be shocked to know I have some experience being on the wrong end of a projected blowout. I picked the Rams to beat the Patriots 42-3 in Super Bowl XXXVI, and the Patriots not only beat my 39-point spread but won the doggone game. So now I’m thinking T. Boone might have jinxed his ‘Boys. And, since I’ve also picked OSU, jinxed me.

Great, I say. Just great. Give a guy $3 billion and he thinks he owns the world.

(Oh, and here’s another column on T. Boone, this by Jenni Carlson of the Oklahoman. If her name rings a bell, there’s a reason. Her column provoked the infamous Mike Gundy rant, for which we should all be eternally grateful.)

Yellow fuzz you moron,

We beat florida and alabama in 2007. We didn’t make any rings. Go get me another hot dog at the Varsity. You left the mustard off of the last one.

Also, my computer needs servicing. Can you get on that right away?

One more thing, stay out of the HOV lane on I-75. Having a blow up doll in the front seat with you doesn’t make for a 2nd passenger.

yellow fuzz, if you want to talk about history, then you lose there as well.

7 in 8 years. 14 in 18. Actually, that last one is not intirely true. I mean, because O’Liar was cheating in those three years (as well as getting suspicious ref help), it’s more like 14 in 15 with 3 that don’t count because of cheating, lying cheaters.

Then we can get into the All-time record if you want.

See, it’s amazing that I didn’t think a fanbase could have a worse idea of the scope of history than Florida fans who seem to think that football was invented in 1990 and that their team wasn’t the most historically disappointing football team in the SEC for 100 years.

But then I remember that a Bug’s memory isn’t very long because of the small size of y’all’s brains, so I guess if you can only remember one year at a time, it makes sense.

Why don’t you abide by the in-season moratorium of posting on the other team’s blog instituted by myself and RAMBLER. After all, he is senior nerd-in-charge and you should listen to him.

Leave the UGA blogs for the winners in life and on the field 7 out of every 10 times we play you.

Okie State is a two dimensional team instead of just Robinson to Bryant. Kendall Hunter is a threat out of the backfield running and catching. He had 1555 yards rushing with 16 touchdowns and 198 yards recieving with another touchdown. But he was stopped by the defensive powerhouse, Oklahoma, 84 yards and wannabe powerhouse Oregon for 37(?). We as fans are focusing on the Robinson-Bryant combination. Let’s hope the coaches are focusing on both attacks.

What would a UGA football discussion be without RambleOn and yellow fuzz. Boring probably.

JB,
Why do you think that every team UGA play is a joke. Nobody has a defense, nobody has a line, nobody has quarterback. As if you think UGA has all of those components and no other team does. Just wait and see this Cowboy offense play against UGA. It’ll be a lot different than 2 years ago.

Mark, will give me the 10 points in a friendly wager? I’d take you straight up, but if you are giving points, I’d be dumb not to take them.

OSU was hyped just as much coming into our game in 07 with a few media outlets proclaiming that they’d have the best offense in the nation. What happened? They were blown out in Athens.

I’m not predicting a blowout, but think we win by 10 or more.

This game will simply be ball control. Georgia is going to run the ball all day long. Thus keeping the OSU explosive offense off the field. This won’t be a shoot out – far from it. Battle in the trenches and a few key sacks. UGA 20 OSU 17

UGA will be fine if they just keep listening to their coaches and working hard and if they execute, that’s most important, executing! Coaches don’t block or tackle, so they have to lock up, when they tackle, not when they block, because that’s holding. Holding is a penalty, and penalties are bad. UGA cannot afford all those stupid penaties. They have got to run behind their pads and stay low, especially Samuel. Staying low is very important, almost as vital as executing. Staying low is even more important when you are six foot two. CWM has to blitz more, the fact that the Dawgs got burned like a Varsity dog every time they blitzed is not important, if CWM doesn’t blitz on every play he should be fired! I mean it’s not like the cover two ever worked for Tampa Bay! So stay low, run behind your pads, no holding and no late hits. Unless it’s Tebow, then nail that sucker! Oh yeah, and execute! I have learned so much from these football blogs.

How2Fish, I forgot disciplin! Richt must do a better job of controling his team. A wrong turn on a Mo-ped leads to an underage drinking arrest which leads to a bar fight. Before you know it there is a Glock going off in a kids sweat pants and he blows his kneecap off and goes to jail for two years. Gotta nip it in the bud! It’s good that the police in Athens are experts at bud nippin! BTW, Plaxico must have failed his NFL Risk and Rewards course when he was a rookie. Lesson #1, “Posse tote da Glock”.
