Vick to the Vikes? If the Vikes have any sense, absolutely

The Minnesota Vikings were willing to wait all summer on a 39-year-old prima donna who has nothing left. So yeah, they could do worse than a 29-year-old who has a point to prove. Yeah, I’m thinking Michael Dwayne Vick would look just dandy in purple.

The Vikings have no quarterback unless you count Tarvaris Jackson, which even the Vikings don’t. If they had a quarterback, they wouldn’t have prostrated themselves before the latest whims of Brett Favre. Michael Vick needs a job and is free to look for NFL work. (Perhaps you’d heard something about this.) So if you’re the Vikes, here’s what you do:

You tell your fans, “We know Vick comes with more baggage than Louis Vuitton, but we’ve got no choice. We’ve got a decent team that’s lacking at the most important position. We know some of you might have some reservations about his character, but would you rather us hire the nearest Eagle scout and do a Detroit? (Meaning: Go 0-16?) Or would you want us to take a chance on a guy who we absolutely know will want to play, as opposed to the fossil who just strung us along who never knows what the heck he wants?

“Would you? Thought you might.”

I’m thinking the notion of Michael Vick and Adrian Peterson in the same backfield might influence a few Viking backers to choose forgiveness over PETA-like lifelong wrath. (Shoot, I wouldn’t mind seeing that tandem myself.) I’m thinking folks in the Land of 10,000 Lakes recall what happened when last Mr. Vick played in the Twin Cities. And in case they’d forgotten … well, here you go.

If those clowns are ok with Al Franken and Jesse Ventura, they will have no problem with Vick and all his baggage.

I’m so tired of everyone giving this man a hard time. He paid his debt…..just to think if you all know all of those ones that have done the same, but did not get caught…….. I wonder how you all would be acting if he killed a HUMAN! I hear many stories on the news where everyday people killed dogs in worst ways then he did and no one say a word,no PETA no nothing!

The Vicks have a potentially great team … except at quarterback, where they have the equivalent of Tony Graziani and Doug Johnson. So, by all means sign Vick today.

Why does this have to be a racial thing. Michael has paid for what he has done. I hope that he will be a better person and has learned from his mistakes. Hopefully he has realized what is important in his life. Which is God and Family. Please ya’ll give him a chance.

I’m a PETA supporter and am totally fine with Vick returning to the NFL. He paid his dues and needs to be able to move forward. After all, wasn’t his jail sentence meant to rehabilitate him? There are way too many hateful people on this planet.

Vick to shock the world??? Puleeeze. Anyone who thinks he’s going to be as good (?) as he was before his incarceration, is either delusional or stupid. Vick will be a project at QB for whoever takes a chance on him. It’s not like he was Tom Effing Brady as a passer. His greatest attribute was always his elusiveness, and who knows how long it will take him to get his instincts back, or if he even has anything close to what he had in physical ability.

He had better start thinking about Canada…..Or maybe he could be the savior for the Arena Football League….yeah, that’s it ! A 50 yard field, a bunch of guys who couldn’t play major college football, and a chaotic pace to the games…Vick’s perfect environment.

It’s going to be difficult to maintain the homeboys, the “ho’s”, fancy cars, and mansions on an AFL salary, but it’s a start.

The reason the Vikings went after Farve was because of his throwing ability. The NFL is way past the stage of the running QB of the late 90’s and early 2000’s. As much ability as Vick has as a runner, his passing abilities are not good. He has an arm, but cannot hit a target. In the most simple offense under Mora, he could only complete 50% of his passes.

Yes, he paid...

…his “debt” to society, but he has yet to pay his “debts” to all the crditors to whom he owes millions of dollars – including the dumba$$ Falcons – now that is really a situation to be in – owing millions of dollars and not being able to do the one thing that could possibly help solve that situation!

I’m not sure why any team would want Vick as a QB? And honestly I don’t think there are any teams interested. He’s the most overrated QB ever to play the game. Check out the stats. He can’t complete passes in the pocket. He had 1 good season where he took us to the playoffs but other than that, he can’t win games in the NFL. Once teams starting to realize all he could do was run, they just kept LB’s in the box and spyed on him the entire time. He was completely inaffective. And now that he’s been out of the league for 2 years, he can’t be any better than he was before. He’s no doubt one of the most athletic players I’ve ever seen but he can’t play the QB position. I think he can help a team in some fashion, whether it be lining up in the slot or maybe in the wildcat formation for a couple plays a game. At this point, he’s not worth paying over the league min.

Wow!!! Another article in the AJC sports section today about Michael Vick by Mark Bradley….what a surprise…NOT!!!

There has got to be something else to write about concerning the upcoming NFL season and/or the Falcons other than another article about Vick. At this rate, there will probably be a speculative article on who might sign him everyday.

Anyone else ready to sign the petition for the AJC management???

If I remember correctly this is America and our justice system is the best in the world, it’s not perfect, but the best. Michael Vick was convicted of a crime and did his time in prison. He is now out of prison having fulfilled his duties. If you or I were convicted of the same thing I can promise you we would not have gone to prison, he has been made a scapegoat for all to us. Mind you, I am not defending him personally, it is what it is. A crime is a crime and consequences should be paid. He has paid them. Now on the other hand, all he knows is football and being a Falcon fan I will miss some of his spectacular plays. He needs to be picked up by someone, even possibly as a tailback or running back. He has way too much talent to be dismissed. Remember all the other thugs being paid millions out there in the NFL, why should he be treated differently. I an also a pet lover and owner, but he has paid his dues. Now move on to someone else, you negative self-centered folks!

He probably could be signed for minimum bucks. From a PR standpoint, I doubt there are many PETA sympathizers in Minnesota. If he gets picked on too much by an outside-the-neighborhood group, does well, doesn’t ask for too much, it might end up being the coup of the century for the Vikes.

We need to send this article and all comments to the Minnesota Vikings and to all of the news outlets in Minnesota to help Mike’s Back To NFL Football campaign. Michael Vick is a perfect fit for the Vikings. Let’s be supportive and pray that he will have the strength and stamina needed to move past the mess and go on to have an outstanding NFL career and a wonderful life. Much love to you MV7. You were bamboozled, and the Falcons Organization were the ring leaders of the bamboozlement and left you twisting in the wind like a used candy wrapper. The NFL’s hands aren’t clean on this either, but you have to work and your occupation is NFL Football player. Wherever Michael lands, that team will become my new favorite team – Atlanta born, Atlanta bred, always been a Falcons fan, but will find another in its stead. ‘Nuff said!!

The connection that needs to be drawn is the commonality of the MV haters and the people that did not vote for President Obama. Can you for once accept the fact that you are a bigot. You have asked African-Americans to forgive & forget your white ancestors for the murders, rapes, tortures, lynchings, burnings, mutilations, and every vile, sub-human act imaginable to man-kind done to them. Somehow you can’t forgive a wrong act against animals. Your problem is not animals and you know it.

Obviously, every owner in the league has or is doing a risk/reward analysis on MV.

I think teams like the Vikes (borderline playoff teams with iffy QB’s) have the biggest risk with him.

Signing Vick today would affect the locker room on many levels. First, you’d have the ridiculous media frenzy – the first question to every player is going to be about their ex-con back up QB. You know some players already think Tavaris Jackson sucks – the first conversation in the lockerroom where someone says they can’t wait till MV starts, you have division in the locker room.

If Tavaris Jackson plays well this year, you’ve brought on undue stress in the locker room.

If TJ doesn’t, at some point MV gets in. If MV plays great, all is well.

If, and this is the big if, MV hits the field and stinks, the organization could feel the effects for years. And I don’t think we’ll ever see a team be so lucky in bouncing back the way the Falcons did.

Risk/reward.

It’s probably not a requirement that you be a brain-dead pimp to work for the ajc, but it definitely helps. I am a lover and owner of pit bulls, but Mike Vick deserves a chance. Humans do cruel things to dogs everyday, but if they don’t get caught they don’t suffer the consequences. Vick just needs and deserves a chance to prove himself. It would be sad for all that talent to go to waste.

Is he still an idiot… probably…is he sorry that he did the dog fighting..NO.. is he sad for getting caught and loosing all the money and the jail time…yes. Unless he gets a brain transplant the will always be the talented Michael Vick and no more.
PETA you WON let it go and enjoy the victory and stop being the IDIOT hypocrites that never did a stupid thing in your life.
