In regards to “Robert, I have said this before..”…me thinks you are the dumb-a%* and the idiot as you have so called someone else! Not only IS Herchel the GREATEST college football player EVER, he had an AMAZING pro-career as well. During his first season with the Generals in 1983, he set a professional single-season rushing record with 2,411 yards and was named the USFL’s Most Valuable Player. When the USFL folded in 1986, Walker signed with the Dallas Cowboys . He led the NFL in total yards from scrimmage in 1987 with 1,606 and led the league in rushing in 1988. During his NFL career, Walker played in two Pro Bowls, and at the time of his retirement he trailed only Walter Payton in all-purpose yards gained in the NFL. Additionally, he led all players in that category in professional football history, counting his years in the USFL. So, please, GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT before you call anyone a name or an idiot…you may find that all you do is make yourself look STUPID! Herchel Walker only player for UGA for 3 years. It has been stated that had he finished out his 4th year with UGA, he would have set records that would have been unbreakable by anyone! So yes, HERCHEL WALKER IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE GREATEST COLLEGIATE FOOTBALL PLAYER OF ALL TIME! GO DAWGS!!!

Let’s also not forget, when discussing National Titles, that we are comparing the BCS era to the regional voting era.

Although it still isn’t a playoff, it is light years ahead on the non BCS era in terms of making an effort to really match up the best teams to play for the title, and the hurdle of earning one becomes much more difficult in terms of what happens on the field (but maybe easier for some teams in terms of avoiding regional voting bias’ of old).

Example:

Miami 1983. Cinderella got blown out by UF to start the year. Then proceeded to march through some cream puff teams before beating FSU by one point at the end of the season. This earned them a matchup with a very overrated Nebraska squad which they also just barely edged due to regional slots for bowls.

For comparison, UF also played FSU towards the end of the season that year and beat them 52-17 …..

And we weren’t even the most talented SEC team. You will never convince me Miami deserved that years title.

That Tebow has done what he’s done during the more difficult BCS era, in what could be considered the height of the SECs power with so many super talented teams, is amazing.
