ESPN: Goodell could let Vick attend an NFL training camp

Citing sources, former colleague Chris Mortensen and Sal Paolatonio of ESPN.com reported Tuesday night that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell could meet with Michael Vick as early as this week. And Goodell, ESPN also reported, could allow Vick to join a NFL team in training camp. From ESPN:

“Under a scenario involving conditional reinstatement, Goodell would reserve the right to extend or further define Vick’s indefinite suspension but allow him to attend training camp if he is signed with an NFL team, sources said. A conclusive reinstatement, or additional suspension, for the 2009 season would be expected before Sept. 1, the first mandatory date for roster cuts.”

The belief here has been that Goodell would allow Vick to play in the NFL at some point this season, but I didn’t think we’d see No. 7, who was released from federal custody only Monday, back under the league umbrella this summer. Assuming Goodell sees the desired “genuine remorse” from Vick in their meeting, a “conditional reinstatement” would indicate:

  1. That Goodell believes Vick has paid a sufficient penalty for his admitted crimes;
  2. That the NFL doesn’t want the guy once among its biggest names to make his reappearance as a member of the start-up United Football League;
  3. That the commissioner has some indication there’s interest in signing Vick among NFL clubs, no matter how much those clubs might insist there isn’t;
  4. That clubs interested in Vick would feel they had Goodell’s tacit, if not blatant, approval to pursue him.
  5. That Goodell, as Mortensen and Paolatonio report, could still choose to suspend Vick further depending on his conduct, which would make training camp a probational period.

As mentioned in Monday’s post and subsequent comments, I think there’s a market for Vick. Not necessarily as a starting quarterback, but certainly as a backup and potentially as the in-vogue Wildcat quarterback. Several NFL clubs could use Vick – Vinny Iyer of Sporting News Today identified Miami, San Francisco, Jacksonville, Washington, Seattle and Oakland — but the entire NFL has been waiting to take its lead from Goodell. And the commissioner is apparently ready to move.

Vick never caused problems on the team: granted the people he associated himself was BAD judgement and stupid. I believe in second chances with the exception of murder and violent crimes to humans ….. if he is truly repentent God would give him another chance. Do we have the right to judge Vick more harshly than God? I think not.

This isn’t a surprise. I wish it were, in fact more so I wish Goodell would just hand down a suspension for the full season. I realize killing dogs isn’t as serious as what Pac Man Jones did with his “posse” in maiming for life a human being.

However, since when does Jones need to be the litmus test!

What Vick did is bad enough.

However it will be interesting to see what team will take the flyer. Vick isn’t spotless from a purely “on the field” measurement. His off-the-field baggage is very significant. If he so much as hiccups wrong, Goodell is poised to strike with a season-ending suspension. Replacing a starting QB mid-way in the season is a lot more negative than replacing a lineman!

You guys who compare what Vick did to accidents are to dense to comprehend concepts. Vick knowingly and willfully chose to fund and operate a criminal enterprise, the lied about it. Car accidents are just that, accidents. What vick did was not an accident.

That said, he did pay a mighty price, and he certianly deserves the opportunity to earn a living.

Mike Vick goes to Washington Redskins- Daniel Snyder has the balls to sign him- In the state capital DC is black and the state capital- he is in his back yard with Virginia Tech fans- How come nobody sees this coming- You haven’t heard Daniel Snyder say he isn’t interested- Plus he’s better than the quaterback they have now-

This guy is going to tear up the league this year- Mark my word if he gets in the league and goes to the Redskins- (oh by the way Deangelo Hall was just signed to a multi year contract) for what that is worth-

You don’t think Daniel Snyder takes a chance- I would-

By the way there are a lot of scum bags in the NFL now and there are a lot that have gotten away with a lot worse than Vick-

From my recollection I can’t recall someone serving as much time ( please see Stallworth) for a crime that didn’t involve a rape, homicide, shooting, stabbing, drugs, domestic violence than Mike Vick-

Oh and how about the loss of about 150 million in wages and endorsements-

How about the players that beat up on their wifes? They get a slap on the wrist for black eyes and its just a domestic violence issue?

Don’t tell me he has paid a price- Prison, bankruptcy, tarnished image-

I would think the NFL would want to show to the young kids in the ghetto or where ever that if you make a mistake there are consequences but also, that you don’t have to stay down- you can get back up-

Now I think that would be a great story of second chances- just my opinion

No, he hasn’t overpaid, he’s paid exactly the cost required by society. But, now that he’s served the time prescribed by law, he should be allowed to pursue his chosen profession — and we shouls all allow him to do so. I hope this man has learned his lesson. I hope Roger Goodell will recognize the price he’s paid. I hope he gets a second chance and someone will sign Mike Vick and let him play football again. There’s nothing to be gained by continuing to drag this out; let him play if he is still capable. Get on with it! Good luck, Mike Vick!

What a lot of people don’t realize is that Mike Vick was raised around dog fighting- that was a part of life he grew up in and was accepted- You never heard the NFL going around saying no dog fighting-

To me you always bet on the man that has the most to prove and nothing to lose- That’s motivation- This guy is only 2 years removed from football he’s game was with his feet not his arm- so if it was a timing issue then I would say he was screwed coming back to the NFL-

It’s just the opposite for him- So instead of starting the season running a 4.2 he’s running a 4.45 then by November and December he’s in shape he gets down to a 4.3 come playoff time-

You don’t think coaches have thought about that scenario?? they just can’t oomment out of respect to Roger Goodell-

Dude this is the easiest bet of the year- Washingto Redskins by a landslide for Michael Vick-

Every once in a while I get motivated to come back and blog from time to time, because I read all of the idiot comments-

Like you really believe that the NFL is an all angel league? Never has been never will- Peta just used this to promote their cause- which I don’t blame them- Gotten them more exposure than 100 years could have-

Now its time for the ACLU to go head to head against PETA if they don’t let this man earn a living- I have seen them represent much worse-

PETA can’t continue to blackmail the NFL forever- People are human- going to make mistakes- paid the price- time to move on

Although I like Dogs and think what Vick did is definitely wrong, no one has ever paid a bigger penalty for dog fighting. There will be a huge public outcry against any team that signs him. He should be allowed back in the NFL, but any team that signs him is crazy.

Mark Bradley

I used this line the other day, but it’s late and I’m tired so I’ll repeat myself: I think a handful of teams have real interest in Vick but none wants to be the one to make the first move for fear of fan repercussions. But I also believe the repercussions won’t be half as dire as some envision. In my view, PETA has already overplayed its hand. And if Vick does indeed demonstrate “genuine remorse,” I believe the majority of people will be inclined to give him another chance.

drsoul

I think people are forgetting the fact that if Vick does come back and does not break any ’society rules’, that it will be more of an illustration of character for youth than punishing him for life for his mistakes. There is a certain culture of youth, of all races, that needs to see you get punished for stepping out of line, but if you come back and work it out, you can have an opportunity for better things in life.. for the ‘pantywaist’ whiners who do not want him to have a chance to make it back, I think their actions and statements alone speak for the type of character that they represent…and, you certainly do not want your kids associated with them…!!!

Vick should not be allowed back in the NFL – ever. Slim like him never change – it may not be dog fighting next time, but there will be something else. He’s not a smart man. Coach Reeves had to dumb down the offense so Vick could actually call a play in the huddle. As noted by others, he couldn’t read defenses – he’s just plain stupid, but yeah, he can run.

I will join many others in boycotting any team that takes Vick. People will never let him live it down. Given the debt he’s paid to society he does have the right to make a living, but he doesn’t have a right to work in a sports league that young people look to for role models. Allowing him to return to the NFL simply tells young people that’s it’s okay to commit heinous crimes, that is, as long as you can run fast, albeit “running while stupid.”

Mark- You heard it hear first- Michael Vick signs with Redskins- #7 starts out third string to show everybody he has to fight his way into the lineup- learns playbook- Third week of the season enters Redskin stadium to hear chants of ” We want Vick-

Second quarter- Here comes Michael Vick in the spread formation- Michael Vick breaks a tackle and goes for 40 down to the 18 yard line-

“Oh way it looks like they are going to Keep Vick in for first down-

Then, Michael Vick is the starting QB for the rest of season for Washingto Redskins- Thats how predictable this is- I wish I could legally bet on this with Vegas-

Is Vegas taking bets on which team Vick will go to? If so, this is the easiest money of the year-

Let’s see- You don’t think Deangelo is lobbying for him right now? along with other teams- seems like Deangelo has a little pull with the multi year contract- Lets see Mike Vick’s family and house is right down the street- Only environment that is right for him to be in- In my opinion-

He has the owner that has the resources to hype it up- with the state capital in the background and his VT fan base in the back yard?

Oh and what about the ratings for the NFL? You don’t think there will be more buzz surrounding this-

DC is the only city that can handle this- and what a better place for Mike Vick to get his ECONOMIC STIMULUS??? RIGHT FROM THE CAPITAL!!

In my personal opinion I can’t think of a better PR move for the NFL- The NFL would set the all time ratings record this year if Mike Vick comes back- There would be more cameras and attention to the NFL than anytime in history-

You would have people watching football that don’t even watch it just to see how Michael Vick does or to root for him to fail.

How could you not see the power in that? Even the visiting teams would profit immensely from Vick visiting- Every game would be sold out or there would be more pro/anti Vick merchandise sold-

People would come to games just to rag Michael Vick-

Sounds pretty exciting to me- I am ready for football season already

Did any of you read the 74 page indictment? Very sick reading. Michael Vick was never charged with RICO. He absolutely should have been. However, RICO carries a MANDATORY 5 year sentence. When you bankroll a felony conspiracy across state lines you are guilty of RICO,. Are you really saying he wasn’t? No, Vick has not even begun to pay society for his sick sick crimes. And I believe Peta is correct. He is a sociopath.

Ode to ignorance: For all the things Vick gave Atlanta, Matt Ryan will surpass it all with much less fanfare, less attention, far better statistics and never ever will Matt embarass the city and the fans like Vick did. Michael Vick, what a wasted life!

I think RG will let Vick play for the 2009 season. Vick has paid his debt to society….and for that matter the NFL. Vick was not the only NFL player involved in dog fighting so the fact that he took the blame for his fellow collegues says alot. He could have exposed others in the NFL and caused chaos for the entire league. Therefore, since we all know this…….they will let him play!

There is no real and valid reason to not let him play…. he, and he alone, will determine his level of ability and success and how to get there.. and, if he is determined to get there, he will..there is no reason that he should not be allowed to succeed if that is the path for him.. no one has the right to wish him otherwise… again, we have politics getting in the way of life; sad how it comes into play at all levels of life.. there is really no valid argument against letting him play again.. you always have whiners regardless of the situation and most of them are jealous wannabes.. it takes a certain breed of people to want others to fail, no matter their argument.. those are the ones that should not be allowed in the stadium…

Some these comments are so ignorant with people’s writings that seems to me to have a third grade education. To stick to the topic about Vick’s ability to play in the NFL is the only thing that needs to be discussed. Character attack is senseless, because the public does not really know Vick the human being. As I stated earlier, I am from his hometown and we know him. He made a mistake, and we all are guilty of something that is unacceptable in society. Again, Martha Stewart is a felon. Big business like KMART NEEDED HER to help them compete. Goodell will do what will generate the most money, that’s what pro sports is all about these days, making money. If you took every criminal or idiot out of the NFL, you wouldn’t have a team worth watching. Vick has been regulated to the freak bin; you can’t think of Vick without thinking of fighting or killing dogs but if the league says he can play, he can play. You don’t have to watch him, you don’t have to like him. Most everyone will agree you have to be dumber than a bag of dirt to have an IQ as low as Vick’s must be and have the potential to makes tens of millions of dollars and throw that away because you can’t cut loose of the ” I still live in Building C of the projects” mentality that a lot of rich NFL players carry with them but money doesn’t buy gray matter. It buys fancy cars and shoes but not brain power.

People like Wade Phillips will never want Michael Vick to play professional football again. Why? Because they probably did not want him to play initially. How dare this man make all this money while Wade and his ilk have to put in a day’s work for a day’s pay. Maybe Wade is making a large salary or maybe he is barely above minimum wage, the fact remains that jealousy has reared it’s ugly head once again. Clean Wade’s “jock strap”? Just how dirty is this strap that one would have to hire anyone to clean it! Isn’t just throwing it in the washing machine sufficient. Probably not! Some people would say “scrub my floor, dig ditches, clean up the garbabe heap, etc., but no Wade says “clean my jock strap”. Wade, whether Mike Vick plays football again or not, he will still probably have a more positive following that you will ever have. Hopefully Vick will play professionally again. Of course, Wade and his henchmen will probably be in the crowd booing. I do believe that if Vick survived prison, negative press, a tether on his ankle, a $10.00 an hour construction job, etc., he will overcome jackasses like Wade!

Everybody has one…an opinion. But the fact of the matter is that there are so many others judging what Michael Vick done was so this and that until you have not swepted around your own front door. Ok, he messed up and so have you somewhere along the line. All of us have. Maybe you didn’t get caught doing what he did, but as sure as you have breath in your body, you have errored in this life somewhere and had to ask for forgiveness. I can’t say it enough, wrong is wrong and maybe because you have not been in the spotlight does not exclude the fact that you don’t have skelton’s in your closet either. There is no such thing as a little wrong or a big wrong, it is all just WRONG.

So,get over… he is human and we all have sinned. Now, he has paid his debt to society…bottom line. Who do you think you are to hold something over somebody’s head… nobody for that fact. He has just as much of a right to have another chance as anybody else, including all you haters of him. You are just mad as hell because he had more money than you and will still get more money than you. And, you can’t stand to see that. Get over it… Worry about your own grass and stop trying cut other others. If you spend this much time trying to clean up your own mess, maybe your life would not be as miserable as it is. In the end, you ain’t got nowhere for no one to lay their head anyway, so what you say really don’t even matter…NOWHAT.

Vick is a poor example of a human being and the sight of him makes me sick. With that being said, there is nothing wrong with him trying to earn a living. It’s just too bad that he did not see the error of his ways BEFORE he did all that crap.
One of the posts above said for him to ‘keep God in his plans’. If he had done that initially, we wouldn’t be having this discussion. I have noticed that all of Vick’s supporters conveniently forget that he lied to both of his superiors about his off-field activities when given a chance to come clean. And then he failed a drug test while on probation. That shows his true character right there…so let me leave with you a quote: “Character is what you do when no one is watching.” Think about that…then think about what kind of character example you want to show to the children who may be in your life. Don’t depend on a pro athlete, celebrity, etc to be those examples; YOU must be the example…by living an honest and (more importantly) law-abiding life.

for instance if this year the ol does not produce the city will place the blame on the ol not ryan… but with vick he took all the blame..are u people sure that the problem with vick was that he is BLACK.. people hate when blacks speak on racism but its obivous when i read some of these comments… I love matt ryan, i think that he is going to get better and better but after the Arizona game u all put the blame on the defense not the 3 turnovers by Ryan.if vick was the qb he would have took all the blame..people say vick was not accurate, thats BS.. how can a Qb be accurate when he is running for his damn life… we had the smallest line in the nfl at the time…we could not block elite ends…vick will play again and if a franchise is willing to put a TEAM around him he still can perform at a very high level…vick started 4 years, he beat the packers in year 1, broke his leg the next year, nfc championship the next year, no playoffs the last 2 years due to bad supporting cast and bad coaching..

No One watches Hockey, Look at the TV Ratings. That is why that Hockey player can get away with it here in Atlanta. No one knows who he is.
The NFL is huge and the ratings can’t be compared. Also, Dan Snyder’s parents were fools and allowed him to walk away from the charges. Vick was a household name that Franchise and Arthur put everything into. That is the difference.

Leonard Little, Ray Lewis (got off thanks to Paul Howard), Jamal Lewis. 3 players who all committed harsher crimes than Mike Vick and all are back in the league. I am extremely confident in saying that Mike Vick is and will always be known in the sports world as a dominant player. The undertones of his dominance and knowledge of the game still linger in the sports world. I am a realist; therefore, I have to say that what Vick did was wrong; however, for some of us the divide between a human being and an animal is not clearly defined in our psyches. Lastly, as an African American woman, I am mindful of the adversity that one must face, and I am ever mindful of the struggle that some of my African American counterparts have gone through,as well as I, but at the end of the whim of adversity is triumph. Mike Vick will triumph, and his triumphant stride back to the gridiron is one in which me or anyone else has no control over. For Mike Vick, stay in tune with your maker, God and let him be the head of your life and the source of your strength.

God allows second chances after committing murder and/or violent crimes against humans. See Moses (murdered an Egyptian), David (bedded someone’s hot wife and had a hit put out on the guy), and Paul (tracked down Christians and terrorized them). I’ve never been a real Vick supporter (although I have been amazed at his natural God-given athleticism), but, if the aforementioned guys were given second chances, then just maybe (insert tongue-in-cheek) we should at least consider it. Michael Vick should not have raped the dogs.

However, he went to federal prison for running an illegal, interstate gambling operation for the purpose of making money in violation of federal law and NOT for abusing animals. Unfortunately, many of the Obama voters on here who worship Vick like a “god” still do not understand that.

Why is this front page, top story news? The governor just announced a 3-day furlough for state employees in 2009, which includes public school and university teachers. This was just a side-note on the front page, but probably much more important – at least in my mind. There has been a lot of talk about a ”biased media” lately. The real bias is not political. It is bias towards reporting the sensational, the absurd, and that which distracts us from the important yet mundane issues of the day, like education and health care. I really could care less about the career prospects of a millionaire football player superstar who blew it on illegal dog fighting, even if he has served his time.

Not only do I want the judgemental jabronis that continue to hate on one man that has taken the flack for a whole generation of badasses to feel free to BOYCOTT the team that picks Vick – they can feel free to choke and electrocute themselves for all I care. It bothers me how misguided the values in the world have become.

Mike Vick coming back and doing well opens the door for a whole lot of troubled players to straighten up and fly right…..but the folks that are against this dont give a crap about that………these guys are just their “negro gladiators” to be used and disposed at the fans and owners will. Fine give up your friggin tickets then……there are folks waiting for your seats.

The man’s “crime” involved DOGS!!!!! There are more serious criminals that are involved in drugs, rapes, murders, domestic violence cases, assault cases, child molestations, & internet predatory activities that receive less punishment & ridicule than Vick did. I was watching Dateline’s Internet Predators just the other night & those caught received 30 & 90 day probations or 3 mth prision time, in which they’ll just go right back out & do the same thing all over again (one guy had already been arrested for the same act). Ummmmm, what makes some of you think just because a person sits out 2 seasons they have lost a step? I play ball with 40 year old men that can out run guys in their 20s. At age 29, you don’t lose a step unless you just plain out let yourself go! And with the speed that Vick has, a good month of training, he will be just as fast and quick! And plus, what else do you have time to do in jail? Workout! And I know I wasn’t the only one hearing the rumors of him playing QB in jail for the teams. Also, think about this, some of your best athletes are in jail. I think alot of the inmates want to see him get back on his feet. Now, when he comes back and destroy the Falcons and other opponents and he’s the biggest comeback story, then what you got to say… All this dogfighting stuff, it didn’t stop, they just thinking of new ways to get away with it.

But to say this man is evil…heck I’m sure many of us live and see evil everyday-in your homes, on your jobs oh but I guess that’s okay. There’s no question that Mike Vick has talent. Give him a chance.

He’s paid his debt to society, probably more so than anyone else in his position. I just hope that Mike has not become an angry, resentful man. His behavior put him in prison. His fame kept him there.

NFL clubs must be salivating to get him, but no one wants the publicity that’s sure to follow.

But let’s face it, television ratings and ticket sale will soar.

Just remember, Vick defender’s, that while yes….he does deserve a second chance….nobody took anything including $150-million from him. Vick did it all by himself. Well, Vick and some “friends”.

As far as comparing him to Stallworth, Heatley, even Leonard Little…they are different crimes, different scenarios, different everything.

Not saying it’s okay that someone who killed a human being gets less time than someone who “only” held a dogs head under water until it stopped struggling, watched a puppy squirm while hanging in a noose, or ran electrical current through a dog who never had a chance, but what I am saying is that just because people don’t take a gamble on Vick or don’t want him on their team doesn’t mean they are doing anything wrong, it just means their not dumb.

Vick, prison aside, hasn’t played in two years and was ONLY good because of his athletic ability. Not his brain, not his intangibles, his speed and arm. We’ll have to see if he still has that before anyone should even think about signing him.

And also, yes, while we’ve all done things that are bad and that we could have gone to jail for I for one have never violently killed anything more than a mosquito or bee so no, Vick doesn’t deserve people to be playing that card either.

Get a clue, Vick DESERVES a second chance, but no one OWES it to him.

I kinda feel for the guy. He was ripped off by his attorney Billy Martin (How is he still a good attorney btw). The big mistake he made was trusting his family. He should have SOLD THEM out at the state level and it would have all been done. The state really didn’t want to try him but if came clean to them it would have been probation and maybe a 4 game suspension by the NFL. He paid a heavy price already. A mistake is going 55 in a 45 when the speed limit changes and you don’t notice, what Vick did wasn’t a mistake, he participated knowingly in an illegal activity for YEARS.

Again, I wonder how many of you defending Vick would be doing it if he was Asian, White or Hispanic… if you’re going to call people racist you might want to look internally as to why you’re ACTUALLY defending the criminal.

How many times, when a black athlete is in jail for something, do people (black and white) play the race card? 100%, made that one up to, probably a little more accurate than your made up poll, however. I’ll take a man who can hold a gun over a dog any day, if I was going to war…and yes…I’m white.

No; Michael Vick was not your typical QB…His stats were not that great and yes he did fumble
quite a bit. The man was running for his life! That offensive line left a lot to be desired and the receivers other than Crumpler was dropping everything that hit there hands. Yes; Matt Ryan has a higher football IQ than Vick but the buck stops there. He is no where near the athelete Vick is, if Stallworth had caught for Vick the way he catches for Ryan he would have made the pro bowl with Vick. The absolute worst thing that happened with Vick as a Falcon is Auther Blank’s choice not to retain Dan Reeves as coach to help Vick become a better QB. I don’t recall opposing teams designing special defensive plans when facing Matt Ryan but they all admit Vick gave them fits. Don’t get me wrong I like Matt and he is exactly what the Falcons needed but Vick did lead the Falcons to a playoff win in Green Bay and to the NFC Championship game. You can’t judge a man by stats alone; Vick comes to play every game.

The whole situation has been blown out of proprtion. The simple fact is that at some point in history, it was deemed that some animals make for pets and are illegal to kill/torture and others are deemed for food and sport to be killed and tortured. If I could get a license to hunt and kill dogs, would I be the worthless person Vick is? If doing what he did was illegal, is it still an intoerable act?

The opinions on this tend to be two-fold: 1)Is what he did cruel? 2)Should he be judged for breaking a law, regardless of the crime. Most people believing he should rot in hell and never get the “privilege”of playing in the NFL again are making emotional decisions becasue an animal was involved. So I refer you to an earlier question…if it was legal to dog-fight, should he still rot in hell for doing it?

The guy’s crime was more stupidity for not doing this in Mexico or some other country that does not care about this stuff.

And yaeh, yeah…I have dogs and I have had season tix since before Vick, blah blah.

Let him play, Goodell is trying to be GOD-dell. I cannot wait to see how this pans out if Roethlesburger is a sexual predator. Also, did anyone see the story about the footage of circus trainer beating elephants? Don’t the beat them across state lines?

Killing innocent animals who haven’t harmed anyone only to have a death sentence in less than 30 days after their arrival at a place where Dog Killers are suppose to care for animals and have their best interest at Heart? People should be protesting and demand the closing of these Death traps for animals. How do you know Matt Ryan is oh so classy, etc… You do not know Matt Ryan. I don’t want to take anything from Matt Ryan. I don’t know him either and I wish him no ill will. But most of you MV7 haters act as if Matt Ryan walks on water after one good season. I know one thing for sure. Matt Ryan is not perfect as a human being, none of us are. Now I talk badly about Ryan as a football player. I am one of the main ones who says Matt Ryan has a weak arm and I stand by that. But, so far Matt Ryan is record is 11-5, took his team to the play-offs and won rookie of the year. He has also been a model citizen in the NFL. His name has not been associated with anythig negative, but, if you think that he can do no wrong, you are either very young and naive or just stupid.

I’m not a fan of Mike Vick but he did his time (more than someone else in the league who caused a human death). So if he can keep his nose clean and somebody wants him, let him play.

As for PETA, after the Obama fly incident, does anybody take them seriously?

It appears that the only way people can build Michael Vick up it to tear other people down. Please try to understand that: #1 The Humane Society does not destroy animals, the local shelters of the municipalities do that, according to their own law and rules. Some euthanize, some do not. #2 There would not have to be millions of dogs destroyed every year if people didn’t allow their animals to over breed, not want to care for them properly and release them on the streets without any concern about what will happen to them. #3 You don’t have to be a whack job to care about animals, simply a human being. #4 No on said dogs were more important than humans, simply that they should be humanely treated. #5 Raising dogs for the sole purpose of having them kill each other for your viewing pleasure is not a mistake, it is a significant character flaw, I don’t care if you were raised in that “culture”. #6 Arthur Blank did not let Michael Vick down, exactly the opposite. #7 Matt Ryan did not take Michael Vick’s job, Michael Vick lost that due to his own bad actions. Now go ahead, call me a racist, a moron, an idiot, whatever it takes to make you feel that Michael Vick was justified in what he did, because quite frankly your opinion counts for nothing in the minds of most rational people.

Remember when Vick first got into trouble with the worthless dogs and Mike Tommin (youngest coach to win superbowl) said he thinks Mike Vick deserves a 2nd chance, when all of “evil” America said he should be banned for life?

Well guess what Falcons fans? It looks like one of your golden boys is in big trouble, accused of R A P E! That’s right raping a real human being.

Now, if Goodell is true to his word, “protect the shield” and the shield does not look good if we have a low life rapist of “humans” running around free – lock up your daughters!

Now there are rumors started that Mike Tomlin may pursue Mike Vick, in the case that big Ben feels the wrath of “God”, I mean Goodell.

Can you imagine the great Mike Vick on a defensive team like the Steelers? They may go 19-0. Finally, he will be on a team with true talent.

WOW!! I got to agree with Bad News @ 1:43. It may just be a gold digger trying to get money, but if thats not the case then it is definitely worse than what Vick did and he should be punished beyond what Vick got. The NFL can’t have star QB’s going around raping women. If that’s the case then Vick is the least of our problems. “Our” meaning humanity.

That is typical of “you” people. Trash the victim as long as the villain does not have dark skin. I don’t recall you coming to Vick’s defense before he confessed – typical.

That poor woman did not deserve to be raped. The Steelers win and cannot sweep this under the carpet as you would hope. “Do the crime – do the time”! I am sick of this Vick talk. He is not being trated unfairly. Most companies, legally, have a policy of refusing to hire convicted felons. I was convicted of “leaving the scene of an accident” in 2005. Hell, I didn’t think there was an accident until after the fact. I served my punishment. However, I am continually denied employment that I am more than qualified for because of it. Why is it fair for me but not for Vick? He was no better at his work than I was in mine. Is he a better person?. Not judging by his actions. Keep in mind, until the finger, I was a BIG MV fan. Only logical replies please. No racial BS.

Anyway, you sound bitter and employers aren’t keeping you away from work because that shouldn’t be a felony conviction…it should be a misdemeanor (if you were smart enough to get a lawyer with ANY skill it would have been reduced, either that or we’re not getting the whole story)…I think it’s time you look in the mirror. My God, the ignorance! You buffoons just pick and choose what you want to be true. Here’s the truth, like it or not. Donte Stallworth didn’t kill anyone. He WAS guilty of drunk driving when a man committed SUICIDE by stepping in front of his car and, according to all eyewitnesses, there was NO WAY Stallworth or anyone else could have avoided him, even if the driver was a teetotalling baptist minister. So, I’m afraid that the contrived scenario you guys tried to play doesn’t have validity. Vick is still guilty of the most heinous crime. Even so, reinstate him and move on. Mike Vick should never be allowed to play anything professional ever again. This should be treated a tragic event, and not just fixed with a rehabilitation at our expense. If he ever gets signs I will never support the team he plays for, I will loss all respect for the family that owns the team and if the state does not step in and have a say I will not be surprised. When will this stop? The steroids, Limo drivers killed, Dogs forced to eat other dogs so they know what it is to kill. If you feel jail fixes everything, you know what I am about to say.. Think twice before you say he should play, he learned his lesson (he is still in jail) nothing good can come from him playing.. Nothing can compare to the sound of the crowd. He should never be allowed to hear it the same way.. SORRY VICK YOU LOSE…
