This one’s for Mrs. Lou Bradley of Maysville, Ky. Or, as I like to call her, “Mom.” And Mom always said — and I mean always — that “your sins will find you out.”
Last week a video of Erin Andrews, of whom you’ve heard, surfaced on the Internet. It was shot through a peephole in a hotel room and it featured — and here the hearts of 10 million fanboys go all a-flutter — footage of Ms. Andrews unclad. Her lawyer acted quickly to have such footage removed from the Web.
“While alone in the privacy of her hotel room, Erin Andrews was surreptitiously videotaped without her knowledge or consent,” wrote her attorney, Marshall P. Grossman of Santa Monica, in a statement released on PR Newswire. “She was the victim of a crime and is taking action to protect herself and help ensure that others are not similarly violated in the future. Although the perpetrator or perpetrators of this criminal act have not yet been identified, when they are identified she intends to bring both civil and criminal charges against them and against anyone who has published the material. We request respect of Erin’s privacy at this time, while she and her representatives are working with the authorities.”
If you check today, you’ll not find the video on the Internet. What you might find, according to Samuel Goldsmith of the New York Daily News, is a download purporting to feature Ms. Andrews but containing instead a big fat computer virus. Which, not to get all judgmental, is what you deserve.
As Graham Cluley of Sophos, an anti-virus developer, told Game On!, a USA Today sports blog: “”Hackers are no slacks when it comes to taking advantage of a hot internet search trend, and they have been quick to set up bogus webpages claiming to contain the video footage of Ms Andrews in her hotel room.”
A confession: While I have seen Ms. Andrews in person — she lives in Atlanta — I don’t quite understand the mania that has occurred since she became a sideline reporter on ESPN. (She used to do in-game updates for TBS during Braves games, and nobody seemed to find those exceptional in any way.) Yes, she’s attractive, and yes, she’s on TV, and yes, she covers sports, which caters to an audience of males, but still … a peephole video?
That’s just sick. That’s not even funny sick — it’s “Psycho” sick. (The Bates Motel, as you’ll recall, featured a peephole. And a nut behind the front desk.) Even Deadspin, a site not renowned for its sense of shame, has felt the need to apologize for directing readers to the (since-deleted) video.
And here’s a word from Mrs. Bradley’s son: Making like Norman Bates isn’t cool, isn’t sexy, isn’t anything but … gross. Now go and sin no more.

Honestly,Believing in the “Virus in the downloadable file” hype is gullibility at it’s finest in action.
While photoing or taping someone in such a manor is a major violation of privacy, when one seeks fame in such a manor-this should come as no surprise.
I’m more impressed that someone could make this kind of a setup(drilling, setting up,taking the video) and it raised no alarms and no one was the wiser at the time, that is far more worrisome then some semi celeb getting photoed in the nude.

Never had much respect for Erin, I’m afraid. UF journalism school is pretty good, but I’m told she was only a so-so student. Got her first job at FSN and immediately started dating a senior producer…then got hired by the Sunshine Network and immediately started dating a senior producer, etc. (Notice a pattern there?) While at TBS she would do any humiliating “bimbo” thing they asked her to do…dress up like a cheerleader and shimmy around, etc. (Yeah, I know she did that at college…but as a professional journalist?) And I don’t think she’s any good at ESPN. Just asks the typical sideline reporter questions, which are always inane. I honestly think she just got hired because somebody at ESPN said “Guys will watch just because they’d like to nail her…” She’s not the first woman (or man, for that matter) to get a job like that, and won’t be the last.
I didn’t care to see the video, but something’s going around the internet that…if true…would be rather curious: People are pointing out that she sure does stay right in the middle of the peephole all the time. I mean…a peephole does that wide-angle thing looking OUT, but looking in it’s rather the reverse. And she supposedly stays right in the middle of the focus, occasionally turning to give you the full nelly view of the old whiskers. And she’s supposed to be primping and fixing her hair, which one would think she would do in the bathroom. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but if all that is true, it does seem strange.
I do hope she finds out who videotaped her and files criminal charges. That kind of stuff is disgusting, and the person who did it should at least be identified so everyone will know he’s a wretched, pitiful loser.
One man’s opinion: Caveat Emptor.

You know, I’m not sure Erin Andrews really needed much more publicity. She seemed to be doing OK in that department without help of a peephole video.

never have gotten the odd fascination with here either. people frequently get upset when the following comment is made; but seriously, take a stroll down any SEC campus, and you’ll get more excited than you do watching Erin Andrews butcher a discussion of free agency during an ESPN telecast.

I’m sorry that some sick did this, really am. Probably a Techie. jk,..
Anyway, aren’t peepholes supposed to be one-way, to prevent this sort of thing? What the hell.

I couldn’t agree more that the is sick, but I question you for giving it life in your blog. I believe you are above this. While I appreciate your routine with the Cleveland media, journalist should not be THE story, especially in cases like this.

So, what’s worse really? Hiring someone because she’s female and beautiful, or some pervert realizing that they can make a quick buck violating her privacy in a most vile way.
She may have slept her way to a network job. She wouldn’t be the first!
But here’s where the rubber hits the road. Playboy doesn’t photograph women unless they have permission. That’s the difference between prudishness and criminality.
So, even if Erin Andrews slept her way through jobs — so what!
Even if she’s hot as a firecracker in August — so what!
If she poses for Playboy, and the magazine found its way at arm’s length — I look at it! Again, so what!
But exploiting her in such a criminal manner? Sophie Marceau experienced a strap dress that fell down on her left shoulder and exposed her breast at Cannes 2005. OK, she beautiful! I’m a guy! It happens.
But Erin Andrews was in her hotel room with the curtains drawn and her privacy was violated! That folks is where the line is drawn. The woman was done wrong and those who did it should spend years in prison.

Give me a break, nice try !……..
The Virus scare is a deliberate tactic by her attorney to stall people from viewing the video.
……….
Searched and found the video it with relative ease on Bit Torrent, and other sites out of
the USA…….Tell ya the truth, wasn’t impressed with those wide hips……….
They can sue everyone on the planet, but the video will rear up periodically, and it will never go away……..As for the privacy thing, too bad…It’s called being a celebrity Erin…….Better get used to it!

“She used to do in-game updates for TBS during Braves games…”
No one seems to remember this now. The poor girl couldn’t even read the teleprompter for the highlights. At least she has moved onto a job where she no longer has to read.

“I remember her TBS in-game updates and she was AWFUL! Fumbling her words, mispronunciations, errant reporting”
I remember the same thing but she was fairly new to the game, she is doing a much better job now. Erin is good at what she does much more than just a prett face.
I saw the video, really only to see if I could find it. The only problem I have now is my pc keeps freezing up, it’s constantly rebooting itself, it’s really slow and the screen flickers.

Yepper, Erin was infamous for the butchering any and all baseball jargon-Best line from her that she loved to say-”It’s a Holo Somer”. She definitely has advanced light years from her days at good ole TBS, maybe she was responsible for helping to usher in the TBS-Very Funny…

People keep talking about the video being taken through the door’s peep hole. It seems to me this was an inside job, a hotel employee. I assume they purposely gave her a room that they had set up for this purpose. The “camera man” was in the room next to hers where he couldn’t be detected.
I’m not just saying this because I saw the video. I had this theory before I saw the video.
And another thing. It’s not strange for a woman to be walking around naked in her hotel room fixing her hair. I bet 80% of women do the same thing.
And another thing, if I looked like that I would be walking around my hotel room naked looking at myself in the mirror any chance I got.

If this was your wife, girlfriend, or sister you would want to kill this guy who basically committed a form of rape. I hope he goes to jail, is sued, and too bad he isn’t put in stocks and shamed in public. This guy is a slime ball. I am glad I never looked at this video nor ever will.

I found the video on You Tube . It had been on there for weeks . Its very poor quality . If she would have denied that the video was of her no one would have doubted it . Its a shame such a deal was made about it .If not this video would have never been seen by most who viewed it . After watching the video I’m very curious to know the story of who recorded it . It wouldn’t be shocking if a) it wasn’t her . b) she knew she was being recorded & c) alot of people have been video taped though this hole or other holes in this hotel . The story behind the video is MUCH more interesting than the video itself .

It’s a terrible day in this country when a person can’t walk around naked in their hotel room (and I’m being serious). I mean that’s part of the limited appeal of traveling on business—you can literally let it all hang loose, scratch yourself if you need to, and basically be a slob (and someone else comes along and picks up after you).
Now you’re telling me that we all have to have our rooms swept for surreptitious holes drilled into the drywall, secret cameras, and other ‘bugs’ (and I don’t mean bedbugs). And no of course I’m not a public figure or even remotely resemble Erin Andrews—all I’m saying is that if it can and did happen to her then it can be done to anyone just for the heck of it.

I saw it. It was cool, but in that peeking at your dad’s playboy kinda way…it was nothing extremely revealing, just your basic PTA. I think her sister looks better than she does, but that is just my opinion. Is there any footage on Shelly Smith? Now THAT would be news worthy!

It was wrong, wrong, wrong, but did I look for it? Yes. Was it worth it? Not especially. It is not a “sex tape” or anything remotely provacative. She is just doing her hair and getting dressed. Her being a celeb was the only reason I looked for it, but her being a celeb does not mean she should expect this sort of thing. Frankly, if I were her, I’d quit the whole business. If this sort of “fan behavior” is happening now, it might escalate to where she should feel her safety is in jepordy. ESPN is not worth it…

The people that did this are sleaze, but I have a hard time feeling to sorry for her, I find it ironic that there is such outrage about the invasion of privacy of someone who goes into male locker rooms while they shower on a regular basis. True what she does is legal, true some maybe most of the players don’t care…but what about those that do, do they have a choice. It was wrong, it was sleazy, but how much concern does she have for a naked athelete who has to accept her presence in the locker room….Karma?

Deadspin never linked to the video. They had the address that it had been on in an article about ESPN’s response. ESPNs attorney had the address in his letter. When Deadspin posted it – it was long gone. It was the creative geeks who used the old address to utilize Google’s cache system.
Now, the NY Post goes and publishes the illegally obtained photos. Classy. Google or Bing ‘NY Post Goes Too Far with Their Erin Andrews Peephole Pictures’ to see the response that Phil Mushnick will have to deal with.

1) I saw the video…quality sucked pretty bad don’t know what the hype is all about. 2) She is a very pretty woman. All the guys who said she wasn’t anything special probably had their wife or girlfriend behind them as they typed all that…3) she is a great on-air sports announcer. She does her Homework days in advance and preps on many things..just to say she shows up to the park, stadium etc etc without doing any work is pure stupidity.

Too many sick responses. If this was one of my daughters, people would be hiding and I would be hunting. The investigation sounds like it will be straight forward, and I hope the judge has a rotten day prior to sentencing.
As for all the comments pro and con regarding Ms. Andrew’s appearance, shutup. She is an good announcer and a pro. She is always prepared, easy to understand, and contributes to the broadcast. However, all of these facts and those other comments are inappropriate and immaterial. She is the victim of a crime and deserves our support.

All you have to do is se the video and you will quickly conclude that either she does her hair with wierd movements or she is posing for the video. I have been around many women who are using a curling iron and never seen them with these types of movements. Also if anyone is curious, it does prove that Erin is NOT a natural bonde

I like Erin, and don’t think she’s a bad reporter. When you get right down to it, all sideline reporters ask inane questions (”Coach, you’re losing 17-3. Are you satisfied with how your team is playing?”). I don’t think it’s a coincidence that so many sideline reporters have been pretty women over the years.
I did look at the video, and she sure does stay right in the middle of the focus an awful lot for a reverse peephole shot. She even turns to face the “camera” a lot. I thought maybe she was just trying to get a “side view” of how her hair looked in the mirror…but she doesn’t turn the opposite way NEARLY as often. I’d hate to think she was just trying to set us all up. (Look at how often women do Playboy spreads to generate a little publicity and help their career…Kim Basinger, Claire Danes, etc.) I sure hope Erin isn’t pulling one on us…and preparing to launch a modelling or an acting career.
