Erin Andrews! Nude video! Better cool those jets, hotshot
This one’s for Mrs. Lou Bradley of Maysville, Ky. Or, as I like to call her, “Mom.” And Mom always said — and I mean always — that “your sins will find you out.”
Last week a video of Erin Andrews, of whom you’ve heard, surfaced on the Internet. It was shot through a peephole in a hotel room and it featured — and here the hearts of 10 million fanboys go all a-flutter — footage of Ms. Andrews unclad. Her lawyer acted quickly to have such footage removed from the Web.
“While alone in the privacy of her hotel room, Erin Andrews was surreptitiously videotaped without her knowledge or consent,” wrote her attorney, Marshall P. Grossman of Santa Monica, in a statement released on PR Newswire. “She was the victim of a crime and is taking action to protect herself and help ensure that others are not similarly violated in the future. Although the perpetrator or perpetrators of this criminal act have not yet been identified, when they are identified she intends to bring both civil and criminal charges against them and against anyone who has published the material. We request respect of Erin’s privacy at this time, while she and her representatives are working with the authorities.”
If you check today, you’ll not find the video on the Internet. What you might find, according to Samuel Goldsmith of the New York Daily News, is a download purporting to feature Ms. Andrews but containing instead a big fat computer virus. Which, not to get all judgmental, is what you deserve.
As Graham Cluley of Sophos, an anti-virus developer, told Game On!, a USA Today sports blog: “”Hackers are no slacks when it comes to taking advantage of a hot internet search trend, and they have been quick to set up bogus webpages claiming to contain the video footage of Ms Andrews in her hotel room.”
A confession: While I have seen Ms. Andrews in person — she lives in Atlanta — I don’t quite understand the mania that has occurred since she became a sideline reporter on ESPN. (She used to do in-game updates for TBS during Braves games, and nobody seemed to find those exceptional in any way.) Yes, she’s attractive, and yes, she’s on TV, and yes, she covers sports, which caters to an audience of males, but still … a peephole video?
That’s just sick. That’s not even funny sick — it’s “Psycho” sick. (The Bates Motel, as you’ll recall, featured a peephole. And a nut behind the front desk.) Even Deadspin, a site not renowned for its sense of shame, has felt the need to apologize for directing readers to the (since-deleted) video.
And here’s a word from Mrs. Bradley’s son: Making like Norman Bates isn’t cool, isn’t sexy, isn’t anything but … gross. Now go and sin no more.

I have never understood her appeal either. I too have seen her in person. She’s okay looking but far from “hot”.
To be in such a position, Andrews is not very knowledgeable of sports and never has any insight into the games she is reporting.
I remember her TBS in-game updates and she was AWFUL! Fumbling her words, mispronunciations, errant reporting. It made me wonder who she @#$%ed or who her father was to get such a gig.

What’s unfortunate, is that Andrews takes away from the women who work in sports, who aren’t all that good looking at all, but actually know their jobs inside and out.
Think Linda Cohn, or Robin Roberts, or Jackie MacMullin.
The only woman I can think of who works sports who knows her stuff just as well as the guys, and who actually asked insightful sideline questions (unlike Andrews who’s just as bad as Jill “David Pole-ock” Arrington), is Suzie Koblar.
You can talk football with Suzie Koblar.
If you want to know the color of Tim Tebow of Nazareth’s eyes, ask Andrews.
If you want to know how “awesome” Pete Carroll is, ask Andrews.

I love Erin Andrews. I have to admit though, in the most steroetypically dude-who-would-never-even-have-a-chance-to-begin-with way, I didn’t think she was that hot at first. I know, pathetic. Of course she’s hot.
But she’s also a pro at what she does in a profession filled with hacks. Even if the video was still on the internet I probably wouldn’t be albe to bring myself to watch it. It’s an invasion of privacy and it’s utterly disrespectful.
But good God what I wouldn’t give to see it. I’m just going to have to stop thinking about it or else my head will explode.

Hey, folks — Sorry I haven’t blogged much today but for some reason my computer started acting funny last night and then it completely went kaput. I was online downloading recipes for peach cobbler at 2:30 a.m. — like I sometimes do — then things went terribly haywire. A bunch of popups opened up on the screen, then the screen started flashing on/off, there was a high-pitched whine coming from the processor.
Then I heard the ESPN theme come from the speakers and a voice said “5…4…3…2…1…MELTDOWN!!!!” Then….nothing. The computer got quiet and wisps of white smoke started coming from the computer like it always did on Mission Impossible when Jim Phelps would play those tapes.
I still can’t figure out what happened.

Seen the video, and while she may not have wished it “leaked” (we’ll see in the future) she most certainly knew she was being filmed. She was standing in the only possible vantage point for a camera through the hole and shook her “assets” right at the lens several times. The “sick perv” who gets arrested is going to wind up being her boyfriend and she’s really gonna have some ’splainin’ to do when ESPN finds out she lied and it was just a home sex tape.

Mark, Erin Andrews is almost every man’s dream woman. She is reasonably attractive, although not blow away good looking. She is intelligent, although not Noble Prize winning intelligent. She not only likes sports, she is highly knowledable about sports. And finally, the girl is just plain fun, with a great smile and sense of humor. This did not come across when she had her two minutes during Brave breaks and when Skip was always putting her down and making her nervous. But, after she took the ESPN job, her entire persona came forth and made her not only attractive to men (there are tons of those on TV), but also very likeable (not so many of those out there). For me, the final icing on the cake was…she is a Gator. Of course, almost every man who admires the woman would like to see her without clothes. We would then start to feel guilt and shame for it because it would destroy the almost perfect, non attainable image we have of her…using the toliet like all of us!

Anyone who says Erin is not a good sports reporter has never seen her working the sideslines during a game to report an interesting tidbit, interview coaches at halftime and after a game and ask very good questions, or watch her behind the scenes taking notes, doing some research, or writing down good questions to ask. She is not as polished or experienced as some of the other female sports reporters mentioned on this blog, but she is good and not worthy of some of the put downs given, which were probably more Gator-hater driven that Erin-hater driven. She has made dramatic improvement from her TBS days, or even from a couple of years ago. And I also like the fact that she can go from the sideslines during football games to interviewing celebs at the ESPYS with ease and with personality. And, like the guy said on the ESPYS, I didn’t realize she was so tall.

I can think of at least two dozen websites that specifically cater to just that profile. Have you forgotten that R and X rated images make up more than a quarter of all internet traffic? Sure, the guy who filmed it is a creepo, but if you put a naked picture of a hot chick in front of me, I’m going to look at it, it’s that simple.
