Maybe the pitchers should have been picked but Jones, why? What has he done, leads the league in errows at third. No way Chippie!

Rafael Soriano definitely deserve an All Star berth. He is the 2nd most dominating reliever so far (behind only Broxton). I thought there has been a trend toward awarding guys who may not be THE closer recently but Charlie Manuel apparently does not believe in that.

Well, Raefy sure could use some rest with how Bobby sort of overuse it.

Blame the all-star snubs of our stellar pitchers on our lousy bats. When was the last time any starting pitcher made the All-Star team with a losing record?? Not saying it’s just, just the way it is. This, obviously, is no fault of Javy and Jair. If they had some semblance of run support they’d both have around 10 wins.

Reality: The Braves have been a 3rd/4th place team all season.

Did we really “deserve” more than one all-star? I mean if we really had a bunch of all stars on our team, shouldn’t we have a better won/lost record? Shouldn’t we be higher in the standings?

I agree that BMac is, by pretty much any stastical measure, the best catcher in the NL and was deserving of the start. However, with the rosters now at 33, it’s hard for me to feel like anyone gets “snubbed”…

The pitchers were deserving, but they didn’t make it because of their won/lost records. Sinple as that really…

A very valid question.

The AllStar game is just a popularity contest and nothing to get worked up about. The only thing to get worked up about is Bud (I make Bowie Kuhn look competent) Selig’s harebrained scheme of making it determine home field advantage in the World Series.

And no offense but I can’t see any scenario where I would call Jeff Hullinger even if I had his number.

–As others have pointed out, Frenchy DID improve after working with the Texas coach, his numbers early on were better, but he reverted to bad habits under TP. Alot of people say that a player should already know how to hit when they get to this level, and that’s true up to a point (if it were totally true, there would be no need for a hitting coach). Where they really earn their pay is helping the hitters adjust to the pitcher’s adjustments, and helping hitters out of slumps. TP fails miserably in this regard. Besides, apart from one good year, he wasn’t all that great a hitter himself (~270 lifetime, respectable, but not great)

this is how the braves were so successful in the 90’s…strong pitching, good defense, timely hitting and a great farm system that could step when others couldnt…lets get back to that

i do think that bmac should get the start…and if the game is close then it comes down to the manager/player selection to come through is all i was saying

and for chipper i keep forgetting that he has been slumping the past 3/4 weeks…but his numbers till then were pretty reasonable but i would NOT want him to go so that he doesnt pick up another tweak or whatnot

i am also satisfied with no trade being made…keep farm system strong so if players due struggle you would actually have someone to call up to replace him
