We need to go after a point guard that is not being paid 15 million . We could strengthen our bench with 4 veterns at say 3-4 million. I like Mario's husstle however we got exposed when he keep passing up shots.

do not re-sign mike bibby, marvin williams, soloman jones and acie law.
re-sign zaza pachulia and flip murray
trade speedy claxton and his expiring contract for a need.
draft well hopefully we could land Jrue Holiday, eric maynor or johnny flynn.
try to land tyson chandler from the hornets in the offseason to fill the center spot on the team.
trade joe johnson and get some good players in return now that way you want be losing him for nothing after 2010.############

no dont do that that is the dumbest move you can ever have. this is obviously not a real hawks fan but one of the bandwagon jumpers. dont listen to bandwagon jumpers, they are the reason joe johnson was traded from the celtics and the deal with the suns who by the way both teams have openly regreted the transactions. no starter should leave just load up the bench obvoiously there are too many bench warmers. let speedy go because even he himself said that he doesnt see himself playing with the hawks. id rather see the team sign another mario west for cheap than pay speedy on the bench and get no production off of him no matter how many injuries the team has. im for keepin JJ and the Starters because the hawks bench has at some points been the lowest scoring benches. say thy moved up 2-3 spots then maybe we have a 50 win team.i agree that solo can go but not before othello and morris. acie is still learning. so keep him.
on the other hand the bench might not even be the problem this offseason yes we need some pieces but on piece we cannot return is having starters play 40 minute games.

are you trading away any of the picks because i dont think another rookie would be a good thing for the hawks. just look at the miami heat and all their youth.

OK, folks. Interview with Rick Sund is finished. It lasted more than 90 minutes. (I told you he's a great conversationalist.)

I'm going to put up a Q&A pretty soon, and some of you -- advance warning -- will be disappointed in the lack of specifics. But Rick wasn't going to discuss specific free agents or draft targets -- no GM would. But you'll note that many of your questions were indeed addressed: Is Horford a center? Do the Hawks have an identity? Is Sund happy with Woodson? Do the Hawks need an offensive (or defensive) coordinator? And does this GM believe that it's possible to win a championship without a superstar?

Give me a couple of hours. And again, thanks for all the submissions. This was kind of a test exercise, and I'm mightily pleased with the results.

Given the salary cap limitations, would Sund choose M Bibby over J Johnson? Realistically, how many players could the Hawks re-sign? Would he entertain the possibility of bringing J Childress back? We could've used his defense tenacity and rebounding skills against the Cavs.

I've heard a lot about David Andersen in recent days, but I do not know much about Cenk Akyol. What is his skill set and is there any talk about him coming to the NBA?
