Flowery Branch – A year ago minicamp for Matt Ryan was about Matt Ryan, who was just trying to show he belonged in the NFL. This one was different. The world now knows Matty Ice belongs, and the Iceman himself is focused on his team.
“Last year you were just trying to keep your head above water,” Ryan said Sunday, the Falcons having completed their weekend drills. “I certainly don’t want to sound like I have it all figured out — because I don’t — but this year it’s more about fine-tuning.”
A quick way to get Ryan to try and change the subject: Ask about last season. The greatest rookie quarterback in NFL history doesn’t care to revisit his rookie year — at least not yet. “It’ll be be nice to look back on when you’re done playing,” he said. “But right now it was just a good start. It’s something to have in the bank.”
When he does recall 2008 — hey, writers are paid to be persistent — does he think first about successes or failures? “A little bit of both. You have to learn from your mistakes: ‘Why did I make that mistake?’ But you also have to learn from what you did well: ‘Why did this work?’ You can’t just focus on the negative plays, or the positive.”
Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment. Then this: “At this position, you have to have no conscience. You’re going to make some mistakes, but you can’t let them weigh on you.”
If he’d dared to imagine the ideal rookie season, would what became reality have come close to the dream? Ryan: “We would’ve won a couple of more games down the stretch, with us being in the playoffs. It was a good first year, but that’s done.”
Regarding minicamp, Ryan said, “It was a chance to work on the things I need to do better.” Such as? “Decision-making. There are two things you have to do as a quarterback — make good decisions and be accurate with your throws — but making good decisions is No. 1. I want to make decisions quicker and better.”
Ryan might or might not have a better season in 2009 than in 2008, but if he doesn’t it won’t be for lack of trying. This, as we know, is a young man — he turns 24 on Saturday — of unflagging focus. Asked about his new playmate Tony Gonzalez, Ryan pointed to the field, where practice had technically ended.
“You see six guys still out there, and four are doing interviews,” Ryan said. “But those two are working. [Indeed, Gonzalez and another Falcon were hitting a blocking sled.] He’s teaching young guys how to work. It’s not by chance — there’s a reason he’s the greatest tight end of all time. He’s a huge pickup for us.”
What would be reasonable goals for Matty Ice and the 2009 Falcons? “It’s the same as last year: We’re not worried about outside expectations. But we want to win our division and give ourselves a chance. That’s it. There are no personal goals.”
Last question: What’s with the hair? “Aerodynamics,” Ryan said, and then he laughed. “I just felt like going shorter. It’s easy to maintain.”
He laughed again. “I’m just happy it still grows back.”

Team first attitude will go a long way towards making 2009 a success for the ATLANTA FALCONS.
Win the Division, and go from there. Great way to set goals for the future. Winning the division automatically will put Matt Ryan or Michael Turner in the MVP race (you figure they’ll both put up big numbers) and for the Pro Bowl selections. So as far as personal goals, I’m sure Matt understands they are both connected to making the Falcons division champs and back to back winning seasons for the 1st time in this Franchise’s history.
Tony Gonzalez is the ultimate pro, and he’s already proving it during this 1st mini-camp. Way to go Tony! Glad he’s a Falcon!

I was rather hoping for a exciting, more talented QB. So one who gives defensive co-ordinator a fit. Some one who excites the crowd and can motivate a city. Some one who is salable and marketable. Some one respected by his peers….some one like say MICHEAL VICK!

THE ONLY THING THE CURRENT QB IS GOOD FOR IS HANDING OF TO TURNER AND NORWOOD. YOU ARE RIGHT ON ONE THING. TURNER WAS THE MVP FOR THE FALCONS AND RUNNER UP FOR THE LEAGUE. BIRDS HAD TO RUN BALL CONTROL. HOW ABOUT A REAL QB THAT CAN THROW DEEP, ACROSSS HIS BODY, CHANGE ON THE RUN, AND SCORE IN THE RED ZONE. BY THE WAY…WHAT WAS THE BIRDS AVERAGE IN THE RED ZONE?… THE CURRENT QB CERTAINLY DOESNT HAVE THE TALENT OF 28 YEAR OLD MICHEAL VICK. GO VICK!!

Nothing against Ryan, he can be an average QB, even with a system that fits his strengths, something Vick didn’t have here after Reeves was fired unjustly. For the first time in – well, forever – I feel like the Falcons have a clue. This is a blue collar, let’s line up and play football team that seems put together using the New England and Pittsburgh way as a model. You know, the model that is successful year after year. Thank God the smoke-and-mirrors act of the past few years is gone. It’s no longer about the bling, it’s now about the ring.

Paul From Milton, well tell me why it wasn’t this way when Vick was here? You think Vick FORCED A.Blank to make it a one man team? I’ll give you one name…Rich Mckay. Things sure have improved since he was stripped of his GM duties…what a coincidence. They build a true “TEAM” atmosphere for Ryan because they know he’s limited, yet when they have Vick, they want to sell tickets and put the ENTIRE LOAD on his shoulders. Its all good though, its in the past. Vick will redeem himself

Ryan sure seems to be a remarkably mature young man.
No-one knows how the season will go, or if he’ll escape injury.
But if he fails, it won’t be because of his head. And that alone makes a pleasant change from what preceded him with the Falcons.
It’s great to see the Falcons have picked-up another leader in Gonzales. The Hawks are a prime example of what leadership, and its absence, makes to a team. Fascinating to see New England’s “character” philosophy spreading through the league along with its alumni. You now hear it emanating from KC and Denver, too.
By the way, y’all, ignore Truth, don’t respond to him. He’s a troll. And trolls only feed on one thing: attention.
So starve him to death.

His peer took a ten thousand dollar fine from the gag ordering NFL to make a statement of there support for Vick. Most Atlantians favor Vick. Its the press and rednecks who have an issue. His Peers? He’s garbage and will never be better than a below average QB, yes he is a great runner and sure he made some awesome plays for the falcons but all he did was beat green bay he never play good against Carolina TB No or any other good team he’s the definition of a bottom feeder and he’s bringing his dog circus to a project near…. right where he belongs!

First of all I’m white and I love seeing Michael Vick play football “truth-serum”. The thing you are really missing is Vick would still be here if he had not broken the law. I would not have a problem with him still be our quarterback. But he is not here and it’s no one elses fault but his. Matt Ryan led us to 11 wins last year when we were supposed to be the worst team in football. The facts don’t lie. You can say what you want. WE TRUE FALCON FANS DON’T CARE who is quarterbacking as long as we win and they conduct their selves as good upstanding citizens. But I will say that what Vick has gone thru is wrong. I think he should be punished for what he has done but the commisioner and all these animal rights groups are trying to make an example out of him and that is wrong. If it were anyone else this would have all been over. Like I said, I love watching Vick play and I hope he comes back stronger than ever. It’s just the true falcon fans don’t care. We’ve got a quarterback and so lets support him now. Vick is paying his debt to society and lets hope he does great in the future. Let’s stop making this thing be all about black and white. Remember, he is the one who got himself in this situation and so that’s why we’ve got Ryan in the first place!

Mike Vick gave up his right to ever play another game for the Falcons. Nothing was forced on him, he did it himself. On top of what he did, he lied to Arthur. You don’t lie to Arthur.
An example should be made of Michael Vick. An example for kids everywhere. An example for kids of all colors. If you can’t handle the responsibility of being a decent human being, then don’t expect to be treated like one.

I hope one day they meet in the SB.Now lets be clear it was a lot more than just handoff to Turner. As I remember it several d’s were starting to figure Vick out.And did it ever occur to you that White became a great receiver after Vick left b/c Vick threw the ball too hard and inaccurate. I guess some people will never be happy unless people of their own race are QBing the team.
I’m white, & my favorite College football player of all time is Joe Hamilton, the former Tech QB.

Bill put it perfectly, the WR’s (Roddy) started playing much better after Vick left, Roddy even had 1,000 yds in 07 when we had 3 different QB’s.
I watch a lot of football, & understand the game. One of the biggest reasons the the WR’s struggled w/ Vick was said perfectly by Bill, he threw it too hard & was inaccurate.
Ryan did a lot more than hand the ball off, last yr for the first time in quite a while the Falcons actually had balance in the Offense, a good mix of run & PASS. Vick was the QB that could hand off & run himself, but was never a CONSISTENT passing threat. He had his moments but many times he was not a threat to throw.

Vick supporter and other idiots who bring race into the debate are blind. Blacks are the dominate race in all of sports. No argument. outta 52 players on any football team i bet on the average team 42 are black. And that is fine. But when your black Jesus at quarterback ends up being a criminal and he is replaced by a white guy you shout racism. I think that in its self racism . If somehow we made a trade for mcnabe, I bet a million dollars you would not be complaining every week.
Have you ever met Vick? He is an as shole. Seriously, not a nice guy. Roody, Turner, Tuggle, Ryan, Finneran, Jenkins, C. Davis, Mike Smith, Milloy, G.Jackson, Redman all really nice people. But Vick, he looks down on people, or he did when he was on top. He is rude. he has bad karma. And thats what happened to him and his life. Don’t treat people badly it will come back to haunt you.
He has hit bottom. I don’t wish him any ill will. but he blew. Don’t scape goat anyone. Believe in personal responsibility.

Vick was perhaps the greatest athlete to ever play the quarterback position in the NFL. He was at best, however, a slightly below average quarterback. Never once did I sit back and think “Mike’s gonna win this game by tossing for two TDs in the 4th quarter”. Instead, I’d used to think, “maybe Mike will bust a long run for a score and then do something insane to get them back in the game”.
Vick is like the psycho girlfriend many of us have had. Certainly provided some fascinating times but the drama just beats you down in the end.

Surprise me Mark –
Vick finished with a 75.7% QB rating with a 53.8 completion percentage. He averaged 155 yards a game. Joey Harrington has a 69.4% QB rating with a 56.1 completion percentage and 181 yard per game. Vick tossed for 71 TDs, Harrington threw 79.
Remember, my comment was that he was an unmatched athlete but a very average “quarterback”.

I love watching Vick when he was here. He was exciting and electric but he has no IQ? Anybody says otherwise is an idiot and I can explain my logic. If someone gave you a 100 million dollar lottery ticket would you rip it up? That is exactly what Mike Vick did? Hence he has no IQ. He lied to the coaches, fans and stood in Arthur Blanks office and lied to team owner. What it comes down to his he has no common sense. He should have know dog fighting is illegal and he should have known how this would look to some of his fans. Yes if one is from the hood they will think there is nothing wrong with it and give an excuse that he made a mistake but he was doing it day in and day out so it wasnt a mistake or lack of judgement? He took a lottery ticket and wiped his a$$ with it…Idiot

Please I would like someone to give me a list of quarterbacks in the NFL who started every game in their rookie season and then had a “sophomore slump” in their second year. Hmmm? Usually in the NFL it is more correctly called a “freshman slump” due to complete inexperience and possibly nerves.
Sophomore slumps are for baseball players more than any other sport because of innate superstitions that are ingrained in the players minds. Occasionally you may find slumps in other sports, but in our case with Matt Ryan, there is nothing to worry about. Knock on wood.

Truth-serum,
Regarding Vick- “The man should have a right to get his job back.”
Truth Serum’s world = you can do whatever you want, lie to your employer, lie to the NFL commissioner, lie to the media in a business related intensely to public relations, commit crimes related to gambling while being a sports personality, and still be able to walk out of prison as the most important piece of a multi-million dollar business investment that is the Atlanta Falcons franchise?
Dude, there isn’t a sane business person on the PLANET that’s drinking that Kool-Aid my friend. Regardless of what anybody thinks, this issue may be about color, but it ain’t about black or white. It’s about GREEN. Vick might be marketable in the ATL microcosm, but he’s poison on a national scale and he’s proven himself to be a liar, a very poor decision maker and an untrustworthy investment. He may yet get his chance in the NFL, but its gonna be an uphill battle for someone who has betrayed that kind of trust. Business, and Life for that matter, isn’t about what you ‘deserve.’ If any one of us got caught lying to our boss, and then lying to the owner of the company, you think we’d ‘Deserve’ to get our jobs back once they fired our arses? Man, come back to Earth and Try again.

The Falcons are gonna have to be dialed in with this year’s schedule being what it is. I don’t think it takes a rocket surgeon to predict there probably won’t be a wild card team coming out of the South this year. If we wanna get into the playoffs then we’re gonna have to win the division, which will be no small task considering where Carolina and N.O. finished last year (my guess is the Bucs struggle mightily this year; another brainy pick there, eh?). Nice to here Gonzo is already taking his rightful place as a leader on this team. Even with high quality guys like that, you never know how a player will react to changing teams for the first time, especially after so long w/ the Chiefs like he was, so it’s nice to know he’s adjusting in the manner that would be expected. The Birds got their work cut out for them this year, and with the maturity and professionalism being displayed by this group I’ve confident we’ll have a very competitive team. Let’s get those back-to-back winning seasons this year and make a run that Lombardi trophy.

I believe that Atlanta will wind up 9-7 maybe a wid card. This defense will be very young and sadly make alot of mistakes. The offense as good as it can be will not overcome all of them.
Throw in a brutal schedule and I am looking at 9-7.This will be a step up as it will mark the first back to back winning seasons in franchise history.
I really think this team will have a huge year in 2010.

Thanks Mac, I wish i could claim that as a ‘Leggo Original’, but you know how it is… heard it somewhere and adopted it as my own.
There will be those i think that, regardless of Matt Ryan’s numbers, consider his second season a sophmore slump if he doesn’t get the win totals we had last year. But have you guys seen the new schedule? I know i’ve brought it up before, but in the event you haven’t then trust me it’s a Killa. The good news is that everyone in the South will be playing predominately the same schedule minus a couple of seeding games so we’re all tested by the same scale predominately. Ryan may not get 14 wins this year like many are unrealistically expecting, he may only get 9, but that might still be enough to win the division. The big thing for me for Ryan is seeing an improvement on the red zone numbers, maintain that nice completion percentage (improving on it would be very cool) while increasing the number of throws by around 5 a game average and keeping the picks down. All very achievable goals in my book. The real weight is on Mularkey to scheme for this very potent offense. He hasn’t really been known for being a 3 wide/pass catchin- tight end kind of OC, so we’ll see what he’s made of. But he was a tight end too, right? Surely he’s got plenty of plays squirreled away for his old position other than ‘Block Down!’

I don’t know that Mr. Sanchez is in the same league talent wise as Mr. Vick, nor do I feel that he has been a target of hate as has M. Vick. The crime of Dog fighting was a misdemeanor two months before his arrest. Everyone including the owner new Vick was a dog fighter since his childhood. Dogs fight every day, as do humans on the Ultimate prize fight. Big deal. The bottom line is the Bubba Crew has an issue with a Black quarterback and the Press is about selling papers so they stir up controversy. Look at where your sampling poll is coming from, your Bubba laden blog sight. No, I don’t think he was ever popular in red country.
Most people don’t bother to speak to you or this paper. They see hate journalism for what it is.
It’s clear that AJC sells are down.
It’s hard to be an enthusiastic Fal-con, emphasis on con, fan when you see the racism and hatred that showed with the treatment of Vick.
Righteousness exalteth a nation.
No the city of Atlanta is not behind the falcons the way they were with Vick as the QB. Just keeping it real.
Nobody really cares what they do, no matter how many free ticket giveaways you have. The handling of Vick has left a bad taste in the people’s mouth.
You talk to your bubbas when you do your polls, why don’t you poll the inner city and see how they feel? I do agree with you that the Falcons lost a lot of fans with how they handled Vick. It’s easy to see why.
The falcons showed very little class and they obviously don’t care about how we feel as a city or as a people. So you have a lot of redneck NASCAR supporters. It takes the support of the WHOLE city to win…something you don’t have. I expected you’ll start a campaign and dump free ticket inner city…
I won’t be surprised and it won’t work. Most people see you for whom and what you are.

First of all I’m white and I love seeing Michael Vick play football “truth-serum”. The thing you are really missing is Vick would still be here if he had not broken the law. I would not have a problem with him still be our quarterback. But he is not here and it’s no one elses fault but his.
EXCELLENT POST.
I ALMOST AGREE WITH YOU ALMOST 100%. IM NOT MAKING THIS TO BE ABOUT BLACK AND WHITE. IT IS WHAT IT IS…BLACK AND WHITE. WOULD THIS have happened IF HE WERE NOT THE COCKY BLACK SUPER ATHELETE?
I APPRECIATE YOUR POST. I AGREE NOW THAT VICK HAS BEEN HUMBLED AND DONE WHAT THE LAW HAS REQUIRED. LETS GIVE HIM A CHANCE TO GET HIS JOB BACK. THATS ALL I ASK. IF RYAN IS A BETTER QB THEN LET VICK BE BACK UP. JUST GIVE THE MAN A FAIR CHANCE TO COMPETE.

[...] [Falcons] Falcons QB Matt Ryan Aiming For A Division Title A year ago minicamp for Matt Ryan was about Matt Ryan, who was just trying to show he belonged in the NFL. This one was different. The world now knows Matty Ice belongs, and the Iceman himself is focused on his team. "Last year you were just trying to keep your head above water," Ryan said Sunday. "I certainly don’t want to sound like I have it all figured out — because I don’t — but this year it’s more about fine-tuning. It’s the same as last year: We’re not worried about outside expectations. But we want to win our division and give ourselves a chance. That’s it. There are no personal goals." Is Michael Vick a rising star? Will he Quarterback the falcons soon?
Is he better than the handoff artist the falcons have now that averages 7 yards per pass completion(3 1/2 yard pass-runningback falls forward 3 1/2 yards = 7 yards)

Lets look at Matt Ryan and compare him to the other hand off artists in the league in 2008. Ryan – 7.93 YPA; Eli Manning – 6.76 YPA; Payton Manning – 7.21 YPA; Jake Delhomme – 7.94 YPA; Jay Cutler – 7.35 YPA; Kurt Warner 7.66 YPA. I guess the Falcon’s chief handoff artist is in very good company. Mike Vick’s career was 6.7 YPA in comparison

NEWSFLASH: All of Black Atlanta did not drink the Kool-aid and holdheartedly support Vick, and there are many of us who feel that he was anything more than an exciting athlete who should have never been drafted as an NFL QB. If you look at his QB stats, (check out the NFL website) as compared to other QBs in the league for the same amount of time, he was average.
SECOND NEWSFLASH: The commissioner hasn’t agreed to let Vick back into the league yet. No team has openly discussed acquiring him from the Falcons yet. Oh..my bad..there was interest by some minor league team. JUST THE FACTS!!!

Truth Serum/Vick Supporter- What you guys are missing is the fact that this man is a convicted felon who did a terrible thing. I agree that Vick has done his time and, if Goodell lets him, he should have a chance to get a job somewhere in the NFL. There is no way on earth that the Falcons would let this man back on their team. He burned them too many times. Not to mention, that they have worked to build themselves out of this “funk” they were in for the past 2 years. With the media circus, and hub-bub that would come along with Vick coming back to Atlanta, there is no way Blank would allow that and I don’t blame him. Vick was electric when he was here, and there is no doubt about it. I think a lot of times people forget just how good he really was because of everything that went down. Ryan is a going to be a great QB. His arm isn’t the strongest, but his decision making and accuracy more than make up for it. He does have a great running game, but so did VIck’s teams. He has the ability to take this team very far, and will be able to lead them better than Vick would. As a true Falcon fan, you should be able to recognize that.

This team we have put together will game plan his team like every other team game planned us and defeat him and put an end to all this bs. Ryan is a QB, not some freaky fun to watch spinning wheel who fools some of the people some of the time. Ryan simply is smarter and has better touch and accuracy who is willing to distribute to the player who has the best opportunity to score without any desire to show case himself. It’s called TEAM. Mr Bradley, I see that you are willing to allow the hatred and racism spewing from “Truth-serum” to comtinue. That is truly a shame. Mr. Vick has served his sentence for the unspeakable atrocity stemming from very bad judgement, and (providing he truly is contrite) deserves the courtesy (yes, courtesy) of being allowed to put his life (that he alone destroyed) back together, possibly in the NFL, definitely with another team (he’s burned his bridges, and deserves NOTHING BUT SCORN from the Falcons and their fans). It’s a shame that racist, hateful trash like the low IQ moron who calls himself “truth-serum” (groan) continued to stir up the bad feelings and foul taste in the mouth that the true Falcons fans feel over Vick. Im sorry you interpret my support of Michael as racist. Of course you see things to racist eyes and refuse to admit that judgement of Vick was based in a large part on the FACT that he is a BLACK super athlete and his cockiness brings out another side of whites.
Its your inability to deal with truth that upset you and have you living and speaking a lie. Perhaps you should be slow to speak and quick to hear instead of the other way around.
“I don’t recall you saying anything positive about our new quarterback.”
Again you lie, have I not stated that he is a handoff artist?
From now on I will not talk to you because you have nothing of substance to say. You ignore reality and you sprew lies and hate.

I’m sorry you somehow interpret the truth and being racist.
The truth is that Michael Vick has suffered because he is a cocky Black super athlete. Apparently that strikes a nerve in certain element of white America. Fact.
Truth.
Look in the mirror.
There are many whites on the page who have admitted as much.
Discussing racial effects does not make one racist. Judging someone for their color does. I think you tried to paint any discussion of race as racist because it is proven that racism is a disease that affects white America more than any other race of people. You may not like to hear, it but that doesn’t remove its truth. You have been called racist so much that any discussion of race automatically brings a counter cry of racism from you. My prayers are with you.
Yes Vick fought dogs. Yes he was in denial when he got his hand caught in the cookie jar. Yes he was raised in the ghetto, and yes he was living an unsaved lifestyle. The charge was his first offense and a misdemeanor 2 months before he was arrested. I agree with many of the posters here that he should have got a fine and a suspension but it was made into much more because he is a was a Cocky Black athlete who was the star NFL player and quarterbacked a team in a Bubba red state.
So my heart goes out to the young man. The hatred here and the parasites like Peta will only deny him a chance (like most of us get) to make mistakes, learn and grow from them while living a changed life.
I am rooting for Michael Vick because he is the underdog…no pun intended… My prayer is for him and the city of Atlanta and the falcon’s organization. We all have an obligation to up hold right and we will all be held accountable when we don’t.

The hatred here and the parasites like Peta will only deny him a chance (like most of us get) to make mistakes and learn and grow from them while living a changed life. I am rooting for Michael Vick because he is the underdog…no pun intended… My prayer is for him and the city of Atlanta and the falcon’s organization. We all have an obligation to up hold right and we will all be held accountable when we don’t.

I appreciate a man who supports his heroes. I am aware that black quarterbacks don’t get an even break, sometimes. I played ball in college with an outstanding black quarterback named Tracy Ham. He set a record for the first quarterback to rush and throw for 5000 yards in a career. That is over 10,000 yards of production. He won national championships. He was drafted by the Rams and was offered a contract as a defensive back. I was pissed off! He went to the CFL and won the MVP a Grey cup. He was the first quarterback to rush for over 1000 yards professionally.
My assessment of the racism comes from you calling everyone a “Bubba” who disagrees with you, not because you support your hero. Have a nice day.

And yes racism does affect a lot more white people. When I had my Obama sign in my yard, I was threatened. People repeatedly took down or stole my sign; they crapped their dogs in my yard, challenged me to fights, and told me I was going to lose my business for my support of Obama. Even at church I was given crap. However, there are more white people in this country than black people. College educated whites voted overwhelmingly for Obama. People making over $200,000 a year voted overwhelmingly for Obama. I have experienced tremendous amounts of racism from BOTH blacks & whites. I think it is a sickness and I know it when I see it. If somebody calls somebody else a “Bubba” or a “Leroy” I know what they are saying. They are speaking in terms we all know and understand. It is not clever, it is a sickness. I wish you well.

Michael Jordon is a cocky superstar athlete and people love him. He never got into serious trouble and then showed his remorse by smoking dope. Roger Clemmons is a white cocky superstar athlete and people hate his guts, because he won’t accept responsibility for what he did and he blames others for what he did. I think people hate cocky, remorseless superstar athlete’s period!

I’m sorry your voting for Obama was to appease your conscious. I voted for him because I felt he was a better candidate than McCain. If there had been a better candidate than Obama he or she would have got my vote. For me race wasn’t the motivating force of my vote. I’m not surprised that this is your experience and view of the past election. I forgive you.
It’s funny that the press offered that blacks voted for him because he was black. That is an example of the problem and an erroneous way of thing. Subtle racism is ever present in your views. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and say that you did not mean to be racist and you just don’t understand and that you are ignorant. Clearly you won’t get better if you won’t admit you are wrong.
As usual you are wrong; yes the rocket is in denial, as was Vick until evidence overwhelmed him. Denial is a very human behavior. I still love the rocket. I don’t care for how baseball has dealt with A-rod who made a confession to what he knew they had evidence of. I don’t care for lance Armstrong or that pot smoking bong wielding swimmer Phelps that we look the other way on.
I also love Mrs. Marion who was the only one of the athletes to show true remorse to the point of tears and confessions and yet was given prison for lying about steroids use. There is certainly two rules at play here.
No, Michaels persecution was a result of being a super black athlete/quarterback in a bubba red state, otherwise he d still be playing after a short suspension, like A-Rod or competing like the pot head bong wielding Phelps.
I understand you have a problem accepting this. That’s why I can appreciate whites who can accept the reality of racism. To deal with truth is to bring about healing, to deny as you are doing, only perpetuates the problem. That’s why this blog was dominated with discussions of Vick and the Fans of Atlanta have not hitched on to that hand off artist. That’s why you think there are more Vick fans than Falcon fans. It’s not. It’s not that Vick was righteous, he was not. It’s the issue of righteous judgment, or rather the lack thereof that causes people to rally around Vick. Never throw out the baby with the bath water, as the falcons are doing.
Lets deal with the truth first and not do like M. Bradley and bury our heads in the sand and act as if this doesn’t exist. Or council people on how to respond when confronted with the discussion. How weak.
Vick is still loved in black America, regardless of your crucifixion. Not because he was right. He wasn’t he was wrong, but because he suffered as a result of racism that many blacks can identify with. I’m sure you see this through bubbas eyes. So the issue goes on.

I am glad you are able to read my mind and know why I voted the way I always have (based on issues and the integrity of the candidate). Oh that’s right, you were wrong as usual! I am a Democrat and have never been impressed by Republicans. However seeing how you are omnipotent, it saves me having to continue trying to continue this exchange. Hopefully next time you go off on one of your self righteous know-it-all diatribes, no one else takes the bait. Had I known how thinly you twist your arguments to redirect your own racism by projecting it on to others, I would have never given you the satisfaction of taking out your own self-loathing on me. It would have saved me the time of trying to explain the truth to a person such as you. You have been right only once, when you pointed out that I called you an idiot. For that I apologize. For a moment I sank down to your level. Have a nice life.

The truth is an idiot!
Prior to your statement we had not spoken or exchanged any communications.
They say if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then its probably a duck. You approached me like a Bubba, you acted like a Bubba… you do the math.
The enemy you have is the one in the mirror. Like Mike Vick, you apologized because it was in black and white and you were called on it. If I hadnt pointed it out you would have continued. You are so full of hate towards M.Vick that you dont pay attention to your behavior.
If you get past your denial you will see that you were negative from the beginning. Perhaps you should show some genuine remorse(since you demand it of M.Vick) instead of trying to make me the reason for your name calling and negative start.
YOU DID THAT BECAUSE THATS HOW YOU ROLL. THATS HOW YOU THINK.
THATS HOW YOU ARE.
I wish Michael Vick good spirits, and I wish you good spirits.

First of all I’m white and I love seeing Michael Vick play football “truth-serum”. The thing you are really missing is Vick would still be here if he had not broken the law. I would not have a problem with him still be our quarterback. But he is not here and it’s no one else’s fault but his. You can say what you want. WE TRUE FALCON FANS DON’T CARE who is quarterbacking as long as we win and they conduct their selves as good upstanding citizens. But I will say that what Vick has gone thru is wrong. I think he should be punished for what he has done but the commissioner and all these animal rights groups are trying to make an example out of him and that is wrong. If it were anyone else this would have all been over. Like I said, I love watching Vick play and I hope he comes back stronger than ever. It’s just the true falcon fans don’t care. We’ve got a quarterback and so let’s support him now. Vick is paying his debt to society and lets hope he does great in the future. Let’s stop making this thing be all about black and white. Remember, he is the one who got himself in this situation and so that’s why we’ve got Ryan in the first place!
LET’S GIVE HIM A CHANCE TO GET HIS JOB BACK. THAT’S ALL I ASK. IF RYAN IS A BETTER QB THEN LET VICK BE BACK UP. JUST GIVE THE MAN A FAIR CHANCE TO COMPETE.
I AGREE THAT PETA IS A RADICAL ANIMAL RIGHTS LEACH THAT SUCK ON THE BLOOD OF CELEBS.
THE PRESS FEEDS ON HATE JOUNALISM. ALA RUSH LIMBAUGH.
I CANT ROOT FOR INJUSTICE. Hats why the Falcons have lost fan base. THE MAN HAS DONE HIS TIME. LET HIM COMPETE.

Vick peers are the other NFL Players. Vicks Peers are Not Team Bubba. The other NFL players support Vick and acknowledge the press injustice and the racial hatred. The NFL too acknowledges the support of the NFL Players…Why do you think the commissioner put a gag order in place and why do you think he fined falcon’s player for posting banners of support for Mike? Bubba.
You may force the hand of the organization with your vocal hatred, but Atlanta takes note of your behavior. It will be two or three decades before anyone has respect for the falcons.
Bubba.
All your generations of hatred and you still haven’t learned. Stupid is as Stupid does, Bubba.
Got any more free ticket for your belly up first round team? The ones you gave away last year really helped. I got a free tire gauge for mine….What you get for yours?
The only thing this team will draw is flies.
I appreciate the reminder that your handoff artist had a good first pass and apparently A good game against Chicago. Gee, (Did I mention that a broke clock is right twice a day?) Although it was on free TV, like most Atlanta’s I did not bother to watch.(advertisers take note) If you have any more free tickets to prevent blackouts late in the season during your playoff run like you did last season please let me know. I could use a bucket of paint for the rails on my back deck.
