Bradley, it's frickin' spring. Baseball reporting is about going with the flow. This isn't flow. It's melodrama. We're not stupid. I wanna see Hanson pitch.

I'd like to express my commiseration for the AJC staffers who are losing their jobs. It sucks. I'm sorry.

You can, Coach.

And that was indeed my line, and a pretty good one -- if I do say so myself -- it was. It just didn't turn out very well.

Spring training won/loss records are meaningless as a predictor of success. Frenchy's performance bodes well but my optimism there is offset by Kawakami already having a tired arm. Overall, my head says we are a third place team, but my heart hopes for a great season. Hanson could be a difference maker if they'll let him in the show, and a late Hudson return could also make a huge difference. Can't wait for the season to start!

It says a heck of a lot that Francouer was humble enough to make a change in the offseason and really and truely make an effort to become a more diciplined hitter. He's always been a heck of a talent. I think he will definately start driving in the runs he used to with RISP again this year rather than focus on the HR numbers. That's already huge. Especially if he can improve his on base percentage. Also, to see that we have some major talent in the minors, the stop gap players like Anderson aren't as worrysome. They do seem like they have a plan and it's been well orchestrated even with the setbacks in the winter and last season. I think they will compete very hard this year. I think 85 wins is around the peak of what they can do though without Hudson also on the staff.

I wonder if the PHILLIES are even IN the '08 pennent race unless they get to play the BRAVES 18 times.

Move Chipper to 1B- maybe less wear and tear. Trade Kotch and a RH reliver for a power hitting young 3B for the future. Trade a RH reliver and a minor leaguer or two for a young outfield power bat for LF. Make sure to have a back up catcher ready to move McCann to 1B when Chipper retires. Francoer produces this year or a trade made before deadline with a low minor leaguer for RF with power. Don't trade top pitching - keep developing them. KJ can be a good 280 hitter. SS could be solid. CF looks to be ok if not this year, the next.
