Whats going to separate the Hawks from a nice team to a serious championship contender is a shot altering, physically intimidating center. Horford is Great…a budding superstar…but not a center. He is a power forward who is forced to spend minutes at the five because ZaZa rock hands, watch this turnover, may I have a foul please,Pachulia cant!
Ditto on the J Smoove non existence jump shot…Yeah,”true that” But what he lacks in a jump shot he more than makes up for in intimidating blocks and in” your mama’s face” dunks!!
At some point in the next two year Marvin will be better than Joe Johnson, and Bibby will come off the bench. No problem because Ron Murray,Marvin Williams, and Acie Law will take care of business….All we need is a center.

Thanks, Turth Serum. And after 25 years here I'm relieved to know I've still got the Bradley Touch. I write something nice about a team and it loses to the Bobcats. I am the man!

The Hawks REALLY, TRULY need to acquire someone who is a true gentleman and gamesman to help them win the championship this season. There is one guy out there who can really help them win who has proven time and time again that he is a hall of famer and is still in good enough playing shape to come out of retirement and help the Hawks be productive during these difficult times. Yes of course, I'm referring to the great guy in the broadcast booth, Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins. Nique can come in and teach Josh Smith to play his old position with style and class. As soon as Josh Smith reaches superstar status, with Nique mentoring him all along the way, Nique can step aside and watch the Hawks soar all the way to the top of the NBA standings. Nique can still play and if he is activated before the playoffs, the Hawks can win the NBA title this year!

I'm not really a big fan of Josh Smith, but I can see a great potential in him. However, I think we need a coach who knows how to get the most out of him. Just an observance, but he is forced outside due to the stupid offensive plays designed to isolate Joe Johnson. If Josh stays near the basket, he jams things for Joe's one on one's...thus, Josh HAS to move to the perimeter (where he is most ineffective). Perhaps, if we ran a real NBA offense of cutting and back-picking to isolate players for an open shot, rather than 18 seconds of Joe trying to get off a shot and then pass it with 5 or 6 seconds left on the clock, then, maybe all our players could reach their potential. I've noticed that many times Josh has actually been forced to shoot a 3 because the shot clock has run out AND Joe has finally let go of the ball since he couldn't get his shot off.
Having said this, and seeing how Acie responded in his 2 minutes against the Knicks, why wouldn't the Hawks use their point guard to actually SET UP the shooters with those easy layups or an inside-out for the 3?? That's what Acie brings to the table, however, we don't have a coach who knows how to use that.
I honestly believe that with a REAL coach. these Hawks could actually be playing for a championship this year (Yeah, I said THIS YEAR!).

Mark, I see you been reading Sekou blog again. I basically stated the same thing, on a previous blog. I agree, I believe the Hawks will hold that 4th down, and my prediction is on record as 48 wins this season.

The Hawks really need to consider getting Josh someone like Dwight Howard has. I mentioned Nique since he’s knows Josh and he is already part of the organization, but I got scoffs at on the blogs. The next time you chat with Sund, ask him why it wouldn’t be plausible to get Josh a mentor.

I think we would see a different player if Josh had a mentor. The year we drafted Josh, I had a chance to meet him at my daughter AAU Track Meet at Marietta High. He was standing over there quite with his group. One of my friends said, that’s Josh Smith. I went right over to speak to him. He is a nice guy, he spoke to us, and he was hanging out like everybody else. Yeah, he drives me nuts with the turnovers and 3 PT shots, but I believe when it all said and done, Josh will redeem himself.

Just to think Bradley, I have suffered through most of those inept years with you, save for my time in the military. Any way, GOOD BLOG!!!!

GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Hawks stink to high heaven. I'll give you an example of what I mean. The Hawks lose to the New York Knicks, a game that is as winnable as it gets. Of course it was a road game at the garden, but the Hawks still should have won the game against an inferior opponent. Ok. But before the Knicks loss, the Hawks had come back from a west coast trip where they go 1-5, with the only win against a sacramento team; at that time the team with the worst record in the NBA. The best that the Hawks could do against sacto was a 105-100 win, just barely winning the ballgame. You must ask yourself WHO CAN THE HAWKS BEAT? If they have trouble beating the sactos and knicks of the world then how will they fare against the lakers, caviliers, celtics and orlando magic. I believe the Hawks are done for this season. Stick a fork in it, its over. The reason why is that the Hawks cant seem to get up for a quality opponent and whenever they play someone good, they automatically lose the game, giving ABSOLUTELY NO EFFORT Whatsoever. And I believe they are proud of that. I wont waste my money going down to Phillips arena because I know that the Hawks are going through the motions and are not playing quality basketball right now and I dont want to waste my time and my money supporting a team that quits on itself and doesnt care about the city or the community about putting a quality product consistently on the basketball court. I wont watch them anymore. I'm done. I was watching the Hawks play Cleveland the other night and the Hawks went down into clevelands end of the floor, missed a shot, and Josh Smith got the rebound. Intead of slowing it down and waiting for his teammates to catch up and reset the offense so they can take their time through the 24 second clock, Josh immediately runs to the three-point circle and hoists up a three pointer, which of course he missed. What a dump play for a veteran player to make, someone who has no clue whatsoever of how to play basketball. I WONT WASTE ANOTHER SECOND WATCHING THE HAWKS PLAY BASKETBALL. I PUT A PREMIUM ON MY TIME AND THAT IS CERTAINLY A WASTE OF TIME.

Ive read you for years Mark...its nice to hear something refreshing and upbeat out of your mouth. You appear to be learning......Whats going to separate the Hawks from a nice team to a serious championship contender is a shot altering, physically intimidating center. Horford is Great...a budding superstar...but not a center. He is a power forward who is forced to spend minutes at the five because ZaZa rock hands, watch this turnover, may I have a foul please,Pachulia cant!
Ditto on the J Smoove non existence jump shot...Yeah,"true that" But what he lacks in a jump shot he more than makes up for in intimidating blocks and in" your mama's face" dunks!!
At some point in the next two year Marvin will be better than Joe Johnson, and Bibby will come off the bench. No problem because Ron Murray,Marvin Williams, and Acie Law will take care of business....All we need is a center.
