And the Oscar goes to . . .

The Oscars are this weekend and, as I’ve seen only one film in the running for Best Picture (”Argo”), I can’t give you the slightest hunch as to who will win the big award. (Insert joke here about just how reliable my gut feelings are.)

If getting to the movie theater with two small children weren’t so hard, I’d like to have seen some of the others — especially “Lincoln” and “Zero Dark Thirty.” I’m sure I’ll see them at some point, even if it’s at home.

If any of you got to see more of the nominees, let’s hear which of them you think deserves the award. Or any of the other awards. Or, take this cue to swap YouTube links, talk baseball (the Braves’ Grapefruit League season is officially under way!) or hoops, or what have you.

I have my legs crossed for Clark Gable to win the best actor award for Gone with the Wind. I do not know about the rest of the cast. Vivian Leigh shooting the Union soldier, that was unconsionable. Hattie McDaniel, no chance there. Margaret Mitchell for best book put to screen, no chance there.
Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.

MarkSteyn: There are lots of things to get upset with the guy over, and the issue with the golf for me is this, that we have a president who does not lead, who leads a strikingly imperial lifestyle. While he was playing golf, his wife and kids went off skiing in Colorado. This is a guy, the issue here is that there’s, the gulf between what the President preaches and how he lives. I mean, for example, on his Christmas vacation, he spent, that Christmas vacation cost more money than the entire Royal Family cost not just British taxpayers, but Canadian taxpayer or Australian taxpayers, Jamaican taxpayers, the entire British commonwealth, in a whole year. One Christmas vacation costs more than flying the Royal Family around the world for a whole year. So the issue here, I think, is the gulf between the President and his cheap, lousy class warfare, and the fact that he doesn’t live like 1%. He lives like the .0000001%. He costs more money than every European royal family put together. There’s a disconnect here.

Well, he is a pimp.

Thanks for sharing that. It is just partisan hypocrisy. Bush obviously took a lot of days to cut brush and project around his hardscrabble little ranchette, but man he got criticized for being a Big Oil rich guy born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Most of his time at the ranch was somewhat working vacations. I know he visited the wounded at Ft Bliss while there, and entertained the usual dictators and potentates, while there. Reporters hated being stuck in Crawford, so they whined every time me made a trip. Never a big Dubyah fan, but looking back he caught hell for things the Kennedy’s, Clinton’s and Obama’s get away with. Wealth envy is obviously only envy of GOP wealth.

Meanwhile Obama is living like he is the Sultan of Obamaland or some Saudi prince, and catches no flack from the press. Do as I say, not as I do, for sure.

Remember when they asked Pelosi about gas prices, and she said what do you expect with two big oil guys in the WH.

Well, Nasty they are gone, and prices have gone up faster than people are dropping out of the work force.

There are things that are covered extensively when the GOP is holding the WH, gas prices, right track/wrong track polls, homelessness, and violence in the streets. Nothing improves when the Dems take over, usually they get worse, but the stories change to how much America loves the first lady, how gun crime is exploding, how awful Congress is for not working with the president, and what the daily propaganda is from the President.

This is where the libs get all their information -

Chris Matthews: “It’s a down and dirty world when you decide chopping down the government and hurting the economy is the smart move. But bring it all down is now the hard right battle cry. Slash spending, short the pentagon, screw up traffic control, whatever raises the noise level, bashes Democrats and lowers hope. Is this the tea party dream? Is this John Boehner’s version of feeding time at the zoo, giving the crazies what they want so they will sit in their seats and behave? Is this final payment to insanity the last vestige of what calm Republicanism is ready to cough up? But how else can you explain the readiness of the GOP leadership to let this Frankenstein’s monster, this doomsday machine, this sequestration go all out berserk? How else can we understand the party of Lincoln doing such economic damage to the Republic, such damage and moral to the people?”

Sequestration may indeed be the bitter pill our politicians need to swallow. And, the rest of us may need to tighten our belts and live according to our Country’s means.

However, we both know that neither Obama or Congress has the stones to actually let that happen.

After the standard round of name calling and finger pointing, Congress and the Pres will get together and kick it down the road.

Then, some months from now, we get to do it all over again!!!!!!

There’s no such thing as an “Obamanist America”.
_______________
I think we are living in an Obamanist America right now. Americans are still here and fighting to preserve America, but the liberal loons, the state approved “legitimate” media, and the Dem politicians are definitely in charge.

A non Obamanist America would not be preparing for a fifth year of 1 T dollar deficits and preparing to implement the small business killing Obamacare. A non Obamanist America would be interested in what happened in Benghazi, who is responsible for this fiasco, and what we are doing to retaliate for it. A non Obamanist America would admit we have fiscal issues and be working on solutions rather than extending the status quo.

Having worked for many years for the feds, I can remember the imbalances of funds at the end of the year, where we would have money left in the travel fund, but we were out of pads and pens, so we were made to travel, but the supply people told us they couldn’t provide more supplies. I remember many years we had to find places to go, because if we didn’t spend up our travel money, next years travel budget would be cut.

This inability to transfer money from one fund to the other is what gives Obama the ability to cry about how devastating the cuts will be, a 2.4% cut.

With one simple act, Congress could approve fund transfers between agency accounts and the sequesters impact would be non existent. Don’t expect that to happen, The ruling regime and Congress loves the control of putting money into an agency and telling them exactly how they want the money spent. It has been this way for hundreds of years and that is why we have all this fourth quarter wasteful spending by every agency because of the inability to manage the funds by the agencies.

A leader would have dusted off the two-year-old General Accounting Office report that identified $100 billion in duplicative and wasteful spending and sat down with the GOP to find the sequester savings there.

But Obama is not a leader, and his goal is not to resolve the crisis; it’s to exploit it. If he can maneuver Republicans into a position where they either have to accept the blame for whatever consequences the spending cuts bring or cave in to yet another tax hike, the harm done to the economy is a fair trade-off.

Ask yourself why the 100 billion in waste and fraud hasn’t been cleaned up yet.

And then ask yourself, if you are a Republican, will we not get the blame no matter what we do?

Cut.

The.

Spending.

The America-hating left’s gravest fear is that the sequester will happen, and no one will notice.

A Real American president would be working to make it so. Not Obozo. His goal is to cut where it will hurt the most.

Obozo: An enemy of America.
