Who says I never let y’all have fun on the weekend?

For your weekend entertainment pleasure — at least if you’re a nerd like me — I present:

Tax Reform: The Game.

Feels like it needs a bit more, huh? How about:

Tax Reform: The Game!

That’s better.

All joking aside, this is a pretty neat interactive site created by Christine Ries, an economist at Georgia Tech and member of the special council on tax reform which the Legislature created three years ago to produce reform recommendations. Reform recommendations it largely went on to ignore, that is.

But, had those recommendations not largely been ignored, there would be no reason for Tax Reform: The Game. In it, Ries has included several of the recommendations the council made. Players can mix and match them — and see how their choices would affect state revenues.

Here’s a preview of what it looks like, though you’ll have to click through one of the links above to actually play the game:

Tax Reform The Game

And if fiscal fun isn’t your idea of a good time this weekend, feel free to use the thread below to discuss other topics.

(H/t to, and more information about the game available at the site of, the Georgia Public Policy Foundation.)

If Cheney were a little younger and his health was better, I’d support him for President. Thank you for posting his excellent qualifications!

We are in desperate need of a President now and could use such a well-qualified person as Vice-President Cheney!

How can anyone believe an assessment of another person by someone who claims that “America has come roaring back” during President Incompetent’s term of office?

Well, did someone mention Cheney? Yes they did and they should. Cheney has devoted most of his life working for the USA and doing it exceedingly well. Not only is he superbly intelligent and honest, he is not afraid of anyone. When he speaks, everyone listens because they know it is a truthful appraisal without political adjustments.

That is so much missed in Washington.

Cheney got it right again in the last speech I’ve seen published. He denounced the latest nominees put out for appointment to the Obama cabinet. Second rate people, he said, referring to their abilities and records.

When we look at Kerry’s high speed Purple Heart Persuasion and Medal throwing, there’s plenty of doubt about being first rate. And Hagel begins to look like a wishy washy change-my-mind sorta person. Surely there is someone around with stronger minds and experiences.

As usual, Cheney is right on mark. Truman would love him. . .

HillBilly,

I think the last one I read was the water basin one. I wondered if two water basins, Ocmulgee and Appilachicola ( I think) adjoining Atlanta could be a source of water for us big drinkers?? Of water, that is.

I haven’t talked to my more informed son (geology) to find out his thoughts. .I surely do appreciate your information. That made this water problem a lot more interesting. Thank you.

Camellias! I carried a big bouquet of white blooms to church this week. That cold snap had browned up a lot of them but I found some pretty ones. They are always a hit. My white ones bloom after most of the pink and rose ones are gone. My daffodils are kinda scrawny but I’ve seen some big yellow ones bursting out elsewhere. Early spring? What did the groundhog predict?

The new health law rules provide leeway for insurers to charge smokers thousands of dollars more for coverage. They impose a $63 per-head fee on insurance plans – a charge that probably will be passed on to policyholders – to cushion the cost of covering people with medical problems.

Dusty,

I am used to people making all kinds of accusation and insulting remarks for political reasons. But there are some limits that decent people do not cross. That is what you have done with the statement above.

“When we look …” So you have looked, have you? And you have evidence for you insulting “doubts?” Perhaps you have also doubts about Hagel’s decorations? Have you no shame at all?
