Poll Position: Which big win would make you happiest?

Now for something completely different …

As my longtime readers know, I’m a sports fan. And if there’s been a bigger four-day stretch of big and potentially big sports news in Atlanta than we’ve seen beginning Wednesday, I don’t recall it.

Which of these big wins makes (or would make) you happiest?

  • UGA's (potential) SEC title/BCS title game berth (120 Votes)
  • The Falcons' big win (64 Votes)
  • Sports? I'd rather be shopping ... or raking leaves! (21 Votes)
  • Tech's (potential) ACC title (18 Votes)
  • The Braves' big moves (13 Votes)

Total Voters: 236

Wednesday: The Braves reached a deal with free-agent CF B.J. Upton.

Thursday: The Falcons beat their arch-nemesis, the Saints, to move within a whisker of the NFC South title and a step closer to home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. (As a bonus, a loss Sunday by Tampa Bay would give the division title to the Falcons.)

Friday: The Braves traded pitcher Tommy Hanson, freeing up payroll funds for another possible big move (a LF or 3B, depending on where the ultra-versatile Martin Prado plays next year).

Saturday: Georgia Tech plays for the ACC championship in Charlotte while, here in Atlanta, Georgia plays Alabama for the SEC title and a spot in the BCS national-championship game in Miami on Jan. 7.

Oh, and the Hawks are playing better than most people (or at least this person) expected when they traded away All-Star Joe Johnson earlier this year.

For a city that has never been confused with Titletown, U.S.A., this is a big Bid’n deal.

Make no mistake: My main interest, really my only interest, this weekend is seeing the Bulldogs knock off Alabama and keeping marching toward the promised land. As far as predictions go, my head says the two teams are evenly matched except that experience and coaching give an edge to the Crimson Tide. But my gut … well, let’s just say I’ve learned not to listen to my gut.

But how about the rest of you? Football is king in the South, but I know from experience that some of you (cough, cough, Dusty) are bigger baseball fans. Which development (or potential development) makes you jump for joy at the mere thought?

That’s this week’s Poll Position question. Answer in the nearby poll and in the comments thread below.

(And no, none of these would make me change my mind about a new stadium.)

I am for our President’s middle class tax cut and against the gop adding regulations to our economy.

The Upton deal is every bit as exciting as the Uggla deal was a couple of years ago.

Something happens to major league hitters when they put that tomahawk on their chest.

saywhat@7:01, Out of the mouths of babes/idiots. (?) Finally, the left admits that the Democrats’ ploy is to raise taxes on every taxpayer. The fiscal cliff is designed to blame the Republicans for what was the Democrats’ ploy from the beginning. Have your cake & eat it.
