Poll Position: Which big win would make you happiest?

Now for something completely different …

As my longtime readers know, I’m a sports fan. And if there’s been a bigger four-day stretch of big and potentially big sports news in Atlanta than we’ve seen beginning Wednesday, I don’t recall it.

Which of these big wins makes (or would make) you happiest?

  • UGA's (potential) SEC title/BCS title game berth (120 Votes)
  • The Falcons' big win (64 Votes)
  • Sports? I'd rather be shopping ... or raking leaves! (21 Votes)
  • Tech's (potential) ACC title (18 Votes)
  • The Braves' big moves (13 Votes)

Total Voters: 236

Loading ... Loading ...

Wednesday: The Braves reached a deal with free-agent CF B.J. Upton.

Thursday: The Falcons beat their arch-nemesis, the Saints, to move within a whisker of the NFC South title and a step closer to home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. (As a bonus, a loss Sunday by Tampa Bay would give the division title to the Falcons.)

Friday: The Braves traded pitcher Tommy Hanson, freeing up payroll funds for another possible big move (a LF or 3B, depending on where the ultra-versatile Martin Prado plays next year).

Saturday: Georgia Tech plays for the ACC championship in Charlotte while, here in Atlanta, Georgia plays Alabama for the SEC title and a spot in the BCS national-championship game in Miami on Jan. 7.

Oh, and the Hawks are playing better than most people (or at least this person) expected when they traded away All-Star Joe Johnson earlier this year.

For a city that has never been confused with Titletown, U.S.A., this is a big Bid’n deal.

Make no mistake: My main interest, really my only interest, this weekend is seeing the Bulldogs knock off Alabama and keeping marching toward the promised land. As far as predictions go, my head says the two teams are evenly matched except that experience and coaching give an edge to the Crimson Tide. But my gut … well, let’s just say I’ve learned not to listen to my gut.

But how about the rest of you? Football is king in the South, but I know from experience that some of you (cough, cough, Dusty) are bigger baseball fans. Which development (or potential development) makes you jump for joy at the mere thought?

That’s this week’s Poll Position question. Answer in the nearby poll and in the comments thread below.

(And no, none of these would make me change my mind about a new stadium.)

Romney@10;00 & 10:01, I’m not a mister. I’m Linda, a lady & not just a woman. I pray every day, for myself, my family, my friends & neighbors, my brethren & for heathens like you. I thank God for the many blessings He has bestowed on us & ask Him to forgive us for our sins & that people like you will wake up to the fact that an intelligence design formed the universe & man, that it was not an accident & that man did not evolve from monkeys or whatever.

As a former Candler Park resident, I’ll have to go with the Dawgs.
Alabama can be beaten by a very good QB…..last time I checked, the Dawgs have one.

Also hope the Falcons get “home-field advantage”, until my Packers get there. Our QB is 9-1 in his last 10 dome games. He prefers the solid footing, lack of wind, and better grip on the ball.

My apologies. Missed that your your not a Mr. part.

Seem like a good brainwashed believer, you do.

Again, pray for your own sins and the sins in your own backyard as well as the faults you judgmentally see in others. Your god will give you KUDOS for that.

Romney@10:45,Your beliefs are apparent.
@10:48, We were brainwashed until we started watching FOX News. Get on with your life. Do your own research. Do you even know what critical thinking is?
My liberal friends admit to me that they have never watched FOX News. What is the program on FOX NEWS that you feel is the most biased? Ever watch Megan Kelly? Ever see the Democrats on FOX? Obama on FOX?

Team Obama is undefeated, so I’m already happy.
On your list, Falcons are tops.
I’d like to see UGA and UAT play to a 3-3 tie in a six hour game. I know it won’t happen, but I can dream.

WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – The median net worth of American households has dropped to a 43-year low as the lower and middle classes appear poorer and less stable than they have been since 1969.

Our President’s tax plan win will be the biggest and best of all. It really matters, unlike silly football games played by kids, most of whom could not gain legitimate college entry without athletic prowess. Stupid system hurts our already needy education system in this nation. Go Better Georgia!!!

When the voters choose the Auburn athletic department to lead us to prosperity, instead of the Alabama athletic department, gives one concern for the future, not bitterness. We tend to get what we ask for.

So try getting better and stop being bitter.

Dogs played their hearts out, I’m proud of them. For once we can’t blame Murray, he did a good job. Some poor coaching decisions on both sides, but in the end, I think Bama just had a little deeper team. Go Dawgs. After Bama puts a hurting on ND, I think we can say that UGA had the second best team in America.

CC@6;19 thanks. Check out this article, Barry deliberately shoots himself in the foot and then plans how he is going to treat his wound. It says he knows the tax raise on the wealthy will kill the economy, so his plan is to ask for some stimulus money to offset that effect. So, incredibly boneheaded, that if any one but the Messiah proposed such foolishness, the lapdog press would nail them to the wall. In effect, just more redistribution from the wealthy to his minions.

“Dems are extremely unhappy that you cons elected and re-elected the worst President in US history.”

The worst president in American history was elected in 2008, and reelected in 2012. That’s saying quite a bit since he nudged Jimmy Carter out of that position!
