In an agitated region, Israel-Gaza conflict has dangerous potential; U.S. leadership needed

While we sort out who in our national security and defense hierarchy has been sleeping with whom, it appears Israel and terrorists in the Palestinian-controlled Gaza Strip are heading into a full-fledged war. As night falls in the region, Israeli officials have confirmed the first rocket attacks on Tel Aviv since the 1991 Gulf War. The Times of Israel has a running live blog of the action.

Those attacks followed yesterday’s Israeli strikes on terrorist targets in Gaza, including one that killed the leader of the military arm of Hamas. Both Hamas and another group called Islamic Jihad previously had ramped up their sporadic firing of rockets into southern Israel; as of mid-October, Israeli officials said there had been more than 800 rocket attacks on their country from Gaza this year.

Given the civil war in Syria, to Israel’s east; the new Egyptian government’s support of its fellow Muslim Brotherhood affiliate, Hamas; and Iran’s ties to both the Syrian government and the Gaza-based terrorist groups, it doesn’t seem likely that this conflict will be as contained as in previous flare-ups in recent years.

One thing is certain: The various actors in this conflict will be looking to see what the U.S. response is. President Obama’s initial engagement — voicing support for Israel’s right to self-defense, and urging the Egyptian government to work to de-escalate matters from the Palestinian side — was good. He’ll need to hold that line in the days to come and give stronger measures of support for Israel. I very much hope that stops short of involving our own military, but anything less than absolute support for Israel could trigger a war that engulfs the entire region.

Yes I realize the inauguration is a long way off so Romney would not have been President today etc.

In all seriousness though.

Obama pushed the point that he had foreign policy experience and Romney didn’t.

I honestly feel he is better suited to make these calls and the nightmare scenario would have been Romney surrounded by a bunch of hawks ( which he most certainly would have been ) telling him what he should do at times like this.

@Kyle…”I very much hope that stops short of involving our own military, but anything less than absolute support for Israel could trigger a war that engulfs the entire region.”

While maybe in the realm of possibly I see no real likelihood of American Troop involvement. As for “absolute support” I don’t think there is a doubt that we support Israel’s right to self defense. However, having someone sit down with Bibi and explain the proper uses of carrots and sticks would do a world of good.

I don’t claim to be an expert on the Middle East but I see it like this. There’s been a “probing for weakness” going on and some of these groups have perceived weakness, so they’re pushing further. I think Netanyahu has pretty much come to the conclusion that Israel is own its own. The chances of anything but escalation are pretty slim, in my opinion.

In the Muslim world it is OK for Muslims to kill Muslims by the truckload. But it is not OK for any non-Muslims to kill any Muslims. It is also apparently not OK for any non-Muslims to use force to protect the lives of Muslims.

For 64 years Muslims have fought to remove Israel from the region. For 64 years Israel has survived, although barely on several occasions. You would think that intellect would rear its head and seek a solution to the issue. But………………………………..!

This is the way Israel celebrate the election of American new President? They acted similar way in the year November 2008, killed more than 12,000 occupied human beings, destroyed more than 3000 buildings, hospitals, schools and utility establishments. Obama remained quite for 3 long months allowing Israel to do whatever she can do using FREE American bullets, bombs, missiles even white sulfate powder. Is Obama is likely to allow once again super power Israel to carry out killings, massacres, genocides and destruction at her WILL?

I have tried to be understanding of the Palestinian point of view and would like to see Israel stop with the settlements in certain areas. But there is a part of me that says just go ahead with it and get it done. The political situation in Syria and Egypt are such that they would not be able to provide much support to Hamas. The big concern is if Iran tries to get in on the action. But they would suffer the same fate as the “Hawk of Achill” if they were that foolish. Yeah here’s why that superpower is behaving badly and not sitting down and giving the Arab Palestinians whatever they want:

“”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”The first three Palestinian missiles reached the Tel Aviv suburb of Gush Dan, Thursday night, Nov. 15. shortly after a long-range missile exploded in Rishon Lezion southeast of Tel Aviv and sirens sounded in outlying towns of Holon, Ness Ziona, Gan Raveh and Beer Yacov. None report casualties or damage. Defense Minister Ehud Barak has ordered 30,000 army reservists drafted. The IDF spokesmen earlier reported units of the elite paratroop and Givati Brigades were mustering outside the Gaza Strip on the second day of Israel’s counter-terror operation Pillar of Cloud.

Thursday morning, a rocket from Gaza killed three Israelis in Kiryat Malachi. By then, some 120 rockets – mostly targeting the major towns of Beersheba and Ashdod, but also smaller locations – had followed Jabari’s death. Iron Dome intercepted 27.The first reserve units had been mobilized for possible ground action in Gaza to supplement the air offensive against the Palestinian missile arsenal.”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”

From Debka File one hour ago.

The Iron Dome system was developed jointly with the US courtesy of Obama and has deflected and destroyed over 100 missiles. I guess John is justifiably offended that the Israelis are retaliating .

According to US law, Hamas is on official list of FOREIGN TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS, an FTO.

According to US law, anyone who supports an FTO can be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

In that context, at a time when the Hamas regime in Gaza continues to launch aerial attacks against the Israeli civilian population, the Jewish Voices for Peace has issued a statement of full support for the Hamas regime in Gaza.

The Israel Advocacy Task Force calls on all supporters of justice and peace in the middle east to demand that the US Justice Department Division of Counter Intelligence to arrest and incarcerate the members of the Jewish Voices for Peace and to prosecute JVP to the full extent of the law.

Liberman spoke with his counterparts from Germany, Italy, Britain, France, Canada and Bulgaria, trying to convince them of Israel’s right and responsibility to carry out strikes in Gaza in order to protect Israelis.”

Any response other than to stand with Israel, ultimately will spell our doom. Every nation that has ever stood against Israel has eventually been destroyed. Call me a fanatic if you want, but read your history books. Ancient Babylon no longer exists. There are carbon-dated chariot wheels that have been pulled out of the Red Sea dating to ancient Egypt. If you want a modern day rendition, look at Cuba. Cuba refused to accept Jewish refugees running from Nazi Germany in WWII and what happened when they turned their back on God’s chosen people? BAM…50 years of oppression of their own under a communist dictator. The free became the enslaved.

Frankly, it is fairly obvious that Obama is a Muslim sympathizer if not an actual Muslim who has gone secular in his ideals. It seems possible that he is even a plant from the Middle East and our country is now so stupid that everyone who drank the Kool-Aid bought it. Things are about to get real for the U.S. in the next generation in a way that it hasn’t since 1941, if not worse than that. The wolves at the door, this time, are in the Middle East and the Far East.

Also, Wingfield, I abstained from the free-for-all yesterday on secession, but I found your viewpoint to be pretty insulting and demeaning to anyone who doesn’t have ‘New World Order’ type ideals who doesn’t think Obama is the 2nd coming of Lincoln. I am personally 100% in favor of secession because our situation now is the SAME as what it was when the U.S. declared its independence.

We have no real REPRESENTATION, but we have more TAXATION than at any time in our history. I don’t care which side of the aisle you’re on, you can’t honestly say that there is a single Senator or Representative that gives a rip about you if you aren’t a millionaire, the leader of a special interest group, or able to do something to help them get theirs. Modern politicans are almost exclusively disgustingly corrupt criminals who re-write laws to criminalize and marginalize true Americans who work by the sweat of their brow honestly. The problem is that these days the phrase is “Give me Liberty or Give me Cable Television and Government Benefits”. No one is willing to die or be inconvenienced for what is right anymore. Secession IS the right thing to do unless you want to go on being a ‘useful idiot’ to the present regime.

@Glenn,
Don’t act like there was an open-armed invitation by the middle east after WWII to the Jews…there was not. We see just how much the middle-east has “taken them in.”
The middle east, idealogy notwhithstanding, has become a putrid cesspool. “Hamas” and other b.s. organizations have sprung up because they have been allowed to, and Muslim terrorists have caused trouble world-wide….with MUCH of the problem originating in the middle east. So, back to my original point. LBJ stopped the Israelis during the six-day war when they had the troops, means, ammo, plan, and everything else to put a stop to many of those animals over there. Egypt dropped billions (not millions, billions) of $ worth of stuff on the side of the road as they ran….they left enough arms to that Israel could have used what they captured to finish the job and put their own stuff in storage. Syria, as well as Iran and another few places need to be wiped out as nations and started over for the common (no, not U.S.) but the common good. Israel has shown more restraint over the years than many would………..and they can take care of that (once-again) putrid cesspool over there. I’ll get a few folks mad, but deep down, if tomorrow there WAS no Syria, Iran, and a few others the world would breathe a little more easily!

Kyle’s right. There’s no way to tell which militia to arm in Libya. You just pick one. Obama did not want to get involved in a civil war, and used the role of commander in chief to employ CIA managed involvement in Libya. That’s why Benghazi broke well after the five seconds it took for the tape to self destruct. It does appear that the Islamic Governments now surrounding Israel are postioning themselves for a new negotiative stance. To think that Obama, or any commander in chief can assuage this ten thousand year old passion is whistling past the graveyard. The Islamic Radicals pressing hard both militarily and via their own electoral process are comprised of a tangle of ethno-sectarian intersects that are as old as their hatred for Israel. So which one do you pick? We never knew in Iraq, we still don’t know in Afghanistan, and we’ll never know in the forming ring around Israel. Libya’s electoral process: I guess both sides have hanging Chads.

Kyle, it seems that our Intelligence agencies, our military leaders, the Secret Service and even the FBI are adopting the operational standard that has been established for them from the Obama Whitehouse. Obama has no real desire to enter into the foreign relations arena because if he makes a mistake there, it is on display for the whole world to see and that may tarnish is much worshipped image. His tactic is to maintain the status quo (which is non-intervention and non-confrontation with our enemies) and if possible placate them with our money or treaties such as the nuclear weapons drawdown treaty with Russia that he agreed but to which Russia did not adhere to. Putin is laughing over our present leadership and the fact that our country has become so weak. Obama’s bowing to the muslim extremists in the mid-east is about to come back to haunt him though. The Muslim Brotherhood (whose leaders have repeatedly visited the Obama Whitehouse) is a force that will soon have to be reckoned with as it gains more and more power in the muslim world. It does not have the best interest of the US in mind. It’s only purpose is to propagate Islam worldwide and to destroy those who will not be converted and to destroy Israel (which Obama has abandoned). Sharia law is the Brotherhood’s bible and its constitution.

The mid-east is about to explode and the US economy is about to go from bad to worse. Soon Obama’s “tax the rich to cure all of our ills” ploy will be revealed as the lie it is and Obamacare is about to come into full bloom and all of the medicare cuts included in it are going to come to light for all of those old people out there to see. It is going to an interesting next four years for Mr. Obama. There is no light at the end of the tunnel and he fully owns his own policies of the last four years.

Yes, the U. S. participated jointly with Israel in military exercises, and I’m sure those were arranged by the Pentagon. Yes, Israel still receives financial aid from the U. S. at about the same level as before Obama took office, that money appropriated by Congress.

For this nation to involve itself in a war or military action, the President takes the lead, and with Congressional approval, can commit military forces. Should Israel need assistance, I don’t trust Obama to take the necessary action. Obama has shown his disrespect, if not outright disdain, for Israel and Netanyahu in the past.

Obama lies, and a man who lies with the ease Obama has demonstrated cannot be trusted. I won’t go into the many lies in which Obama has been caught, but will remind you of Benghazi.

Sanctions against Iran or any other country without serious international cooperation are useless and it has taken most of the Obama term and his re-election to undue a portion of the damage in US international relations to get other nations to follow US “leadership” on that long-standing and ongoing problem — (you do remember the rebuilding of the relationships being called an apology tour?). We can only hope that the right wing-nut public statements during the recent election has not damaged the “realtionships” the current administration has been building. Obama won the presidential election, but will cause the economy to continue to worsen, to cause the US to retreat into a double-dip recession, worse than we can imagine, will cause another credit downgrade & will have the worst legacy of any president in not only modern day times, but one of the worst in history.

All those rockets falling on Israel are Obama’s fault. That’s what happened when you suppress the vote and have a community organizer in the white House, This whole Hamas thing could have been avoided if we had a Republican in the White House. George W. solved the Gaza problem:
“”"”"”Bush Sees Gaza Withdrawal as Key to Israeli Security
President optimistic about emergence of a peaceful Palestinian state
Israel’s disengagement from Gaza is a key to the future security of Israel and will create an opportunity for the Palestinians to begin laying the foundations of a peaceful, democratic state, according to President Bush.

Under the plan, Israel will remove settlers and military installations from the Gaza strip and four villages in the northern West Bank between August 15 and 17 in what will be the first ever withdrawal of permanent Israeli settlements from the Palestinian territories.

In an interview with Israeli television August 11, Bush hailed Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s decision to move ahead with the disengagement as a bold and promising departure from the past.

“[T]he previous system wasn’t working. I mean, there was an intifada, there was death, there was killing. And if you notice, there’s been a calm in attacks. One attack is too many, but there’s been fewer attacks. And I think in the long run, two states living side-by-side in peace is the ultimate solution for Israeli’s security,” Bush said.

Bush expressed confidence in Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ understanding of what must be done in order to carry the Palestinians forward to statehood. “He knows that a democracy can’t exist so long as you’ve got armed groups willing to take law in their own hands. And he’s committed to a democratic state,” he said.

The president stressed that all parties have obligations in the context of the Gaza withdrawal: Israel to ensure a peaceful withdrawal, the Palestinians to maintain control over terrorist groups, and the Arab states to provide political and financial support to the Palestinians as they work to build the basis of a peaceful, prosperous state in Gaza.

Regarding the Palestinians’ obligation to fight terrorism, he noted that dismantling terrorist organizations is a process that cannot simply be achieved by disarming and isolating terrorists. He said it is necessary to provide hope to the Palestinians and the Israelis that a peaceful, democratic state can emerge. “”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"

Kyle is right, if Obama held a fund raiser in a fancy hotel with some rich Jews like Adelson at his side, Hamas would not be acting up. Instead Obama went sightseeing, meeting with the locals in 2008::

“”"”"”"”"Sen. Barack Obama stepped gingerly through the intractable politics of the Middle East on Wednesday, offering resolute support for Israel’s security, warning that Iran’s acquisition of nuclear weapons would be a “game-changing” event for the world, and pledging to make peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians one of his highest priorities if he becomes president.

By motorcade and helicopter, in private meetings and public appearances, the Democratic candidate moved from the Yad Vashem Holocaust museum in Jerusalem to the Palestinian Authority headquarters in the West Bank city of Ramallah to the southern Israeli town of Sderot just outside the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.

Palestinian gunmen in Gaza have long fired makeshift rockets at Sderot, typically after Israeli military operations in the strip or the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Obama used Sderot’s police station and a backdrop of racks of spent Qassam rockets to declare his “unshakable commitment to Israel’s security.” He added: “The state of Israel faces determined enemies who seek its destruction. But it also has a friend and ally in the United States that will always stand by the people of lsrael.” “”"”"”"”"”"”"”

Why was there no mention in the AJC news coverage of the 150 rockets that hit Israel in recent days, that were the cause of this strike? Why no mention that up to 1 million Israelis in southern Israel have been confined to bomb shelters? Why no visuals of the damage or disruption in Israel?

Instead we were told about casualties in Gaza, about the Gaza military figure, about confusion in Gaza, about Israeli strikes in Gaza. The bottom line – namely that Israel has been hit by so many rockets in a few days, was simply absent. It read like Hamas was retaliating for Israeli strikes, not the other way around!

How long will it take to stop focusing primarily on the Israeli response, and to start focusing on the Palestinian attacks? How long will it take to stop reversing causality? How long will it take to stop pointing the finger at Israel for trying to defend itself from Hamas and other rocket attacks?

About owning the land: Jews clung to the Holy Land through all the Ottoman and Arab rule and persecutions. They were a majority in East Jerusalem (now called Arab East Jerusalem by the media) until they were expelled by Arab mobs in the 1920’s riots. There was an ancient Jewish community in Hebron until the 1929 massacre.

Moreover, more than half of all Israelis are descendants of JEWISH REFUGEES FROM ARAB LANDS. So its nonsense to claim that Jews don’t belong there (as one commenter did above). If anything, the Palestinians are mostly descendants of migrants from Egypt.

Dorn L

November 15th, 2012
10:13 pm

To Mike: the Arabs started the wars – and lost. They rejected a two state solution and mostly still do. The Arabs kicked out all the Jews from countries across the Middle East. The Jews got a piece of land the size of New Jersey. The Arabs have more land than the US. So the Arabs are not short of land for the Palestinians – and Jordan, which is four times the size of Israel, has a Palestinian majority, and ought to be a Palestinian state.

Mike, there is no real desire for a (second) Palestinian state (Jordan is the first). The real obsession is with destroying Israel. For the Arabs cannot accept Jews, or other “people of the book” as anything but second class peoples. That is the way it has been for 1400 years in the Middle East, and they cannot accept any change. They need a reformation – but the Arab spring is heading in the other direction.

Tell me, if you will, what they called the county that became Israel, prior to 1948?

Palestine was divided into Israel and Trans-Jordan (now Jordan) by the UN. The Palestinians were to go to Trans-Jordan but they didn’t want them there. The Jewish people were to stay to the west in Israel. The question that md asked, “please explain why they only want land that is now in Israel when they were also forced out of the original homeland in Jordan?”, is a valid one. Not saying they don’t have legitimate grievances but it’s a question that most overlook.

That commie Obama thinks that giving Israel funds for some kind of high tech missle defense system will solve their problems :

“”"This week, The Heritage Foundation hosted “Iron Dome: An Examination of the Important Strategic Partnership on Missile Defense Between Israel and the United States.”

The event focused on the future of the successful U.S.–Israeli missile defense cooperation—especially in the context of the Iron Dome missile defense system—following President Obama’s signature of the United States–Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act into law. The Iron Dome system is designed to counter short-range ballistic missiles and is a part of the Israeli multi-tier missile defense system.

Lieutenant Colonel Merav Davidovits of the Israeli Missile Defense Organization delivered opening remarks. She focused on the threat environment and the benefits of the Iron Dome system. These include protecting the lives of citizens, national assets, and giving the leadership more time to decide on the most appropriate next course of action.

Ilan Berman, vice president of the American Foreign Policy Council, focused on the increasingly complex and changing capabilities that Israeli adversaries (especially Hamas and Hezbollah) are acquiring, the scope of their arsenals, and sophistication of their technology.

Randy Jennings, a defense and media consultant with P-51 Consulting, commented on Capitol Hill’s significantly boosting funding for the program in the latest yet-to-be-signed National Defense Authorization Act. The United States–Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act contains strong language supporting the Iron Dome system. It is one of eight bills Congress has produced supporting Iron Dome.

They serve in the army and even get elected to the Knesset (parliment). Some of the Arab citizens may not like their government’s support of certain policies, but that would be true for Jewish Israelis as well. As to why some Palestinians left in 1948 and why Palestinians living in areas which have changed hands after wars, that’s a long, complicated story and you’d get different answers from different groups, with the truth prob somewhere in between.

Is the never ending argument between these two groups… SO IMPORTANT…that it has the potential to drag the world to the brink of war? This situation should have been resolved long ago by someone other than the two groups.

@Kyle…you and a lot of the folks here should listen to Barbara Bush…she always was the smartest one in that family…

“I am tired now of the elections,” the wife of former president George H. W. Bush said at an event at Lyndon Johnson’s presidential library, according to Reuters. “People spoke. Move on, get on with it. I want to do other things and not to be ugly.”

Barbara Bush also weighed in firmly on the side of working with President Barack Obama: “They are going to have to compromise. It’s not a dirty word.”

It’s being reported that Petraeus will testify that within 24 hours of the attack he was aware that it was a terrorist attack carried out by AQ. If true how will he reconcile his comment on September 14th that it was related to the ant-Islamic video protest resulting in a flash mob attack on the Benghazi consulate. Essentially repeating the administrations talking points.

“David Petraeus is going to tell members of Congress that he “knew almost immediately after the September 11th attack, that the group Ansar al Sharia, the al Qaeda sympathizing group in Libya was responsible for the attacks,” CNN reports.

In his closed door meeting on the Hill, “[Petraeus] will also say he had his own talking points separate from U.N. ambassador Susan Rice. [Hers] came from somewhere other in the administration than his direct talking points,” Barbara Starr of CNN reports, referencing a source close to Petraeus.

The former CIA director will move to further himself from comments that didn’t accurately characterize the terror attack that Rice made 5 days after on national television shows.

“When he looks at what Susan Rice said,” CNN reports, “here is what Petraeus’s take is, according to my source. Petraeus developed some talking points laying it all out. those talking points as always were approved by the intelligence community. But then he sees Susan Rice make her statements and he sees input from other areas of the administration. Petraeus — it is believed — will tell the committee he is not certain where Susan Rice got all of her information.” ”

OBAMA BEGINS PUSH FOR NEW NATIONAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM

“A recent hearing sponsored by the Treasury and Labor Departments marked the beginning of the Obama Administration’s effort to nationalize the nation’s pension system and to eliminate private retirement accounts including IRA’s and 401k plans, NSC is warning.

The hearing, held in the Labor Department’s main auditorium, was monitored by NSC staff and featured a line up of left-wing activists including one representative of the AFL-CIO who advocated for more government regulation over private retirement accounts and even the establishment of government-sponsored annuities that would take the place of 401k plans.

“This hearing was set up to explore why Americans are not saving as much for their retirement as they could,” explains National Seniors Council National Director Robert Crone, “However, it is clear that this is the first step towards a government takeover. It feels just like the beginning of the debate over health care and we all know how that ended up.” ”

Repeating a lie over and over again does not make it true…

In the 2009 fiscal year — the last of George W. Bush’s presidency — federal spending rose by 17.9% from $2.98 trillion to $3.52 trillion. As Kyle and I have thrashed out before only about $200 billion of that was as a result of the stimulus, the remaining $3.32 was directly from Bush’s budget.

In fiscal 2010 — the first budget under Obama — spending fell 1.8% to $3.46 trillion

Eastern Airlines was beyond saving, even if the unions hadn’t gone on strike. My dad was a pilot for them at the time. When the strike was called, he was planning to cross the picket line. Then he saw a video from Farrell Kupersmith, of the accounting firm then known as Touche Ross (since merged into Deloitte). Mr. Kupersmith showed how a corporate raider was looting Eastern in order to build up Continental and line the pockets of his holding company, Texas Air. Eventually my dad decided to honor the picket line–not to try to bring Eastern down, but to try to save it. Somehow I doubt he was the only one (or even close to it) trying to save Eastern.

I can’t explain ignorance but even the ignorant will find out soon. ObamaCare will cause taxes to rise to the level of other socialist countries.

Something will have to give. You can’t keep borrowing and printing money to sustain this country

But you have not noticed that the president keeps right on spending more and more and you keep right on defending it. If you think that is smart, I don’t. . . .

DOZEN HOUSE WOMEN DEFEND RICE OVER LIBYA COMMENTS

“A dozen female members of the House staunchly defended U.N. ambassador Susan Rice against Republican criticism over her remarks on the deadly Sept. 11 Libya attack, suggesting the GOP lawmakers’ comments were racist and sexist.”

@LBB..”You should look at a chart of federal spending by year, and note the $500 billion step change in 2009″

I have seen it LBB…what you are too ignorant to understand is that FY 2009 ended in October and was conducted under the budget put in place by your revered Duhbya. As submitted it was around $3.2 trillion and was run up mostly by all the line items, such as unemployment insurance payments, that are approved as a percentage but paid as incurred. Of that budget Obama is responsible for AT MOST $200 billion.

You are misguided or just plain stooopid.

We have already been through that. Not my fault your reading comprehension isn’t up to the task.

Since you are answering for Finn

Why don’t YOU tell us about the great things the stimulus did? I don’t want to know what liberal business surveryors are saying about the stimulus. I want you to tell me exactly what You have experienced or seen .I know you skip over national debt, unemployment and foreclosures but just skip the companies talking in percentages of so and so and so and jjust tell us some first hand experiences. Your investments are better therefore you are investing more in the stock market?

Maybe you can convince me that everything is peachy keen..

“The stimulus kept us from sliding into a great depression”

No.

The stimulus aided Solyndra, Obama contributors and Obama voters (read as “labor unions”). It did nothing to help the economy for anyone except those I named above. It did, however, add to the debt, aided in the reduction of the U. S. bond rating and furthered quantitative easing which upped the inflation rate.

Steve,

We are not sliding into the great depression because of the stimulus?

When your credit card debt is high, your home foreclosed and you lost your job and you may have to go into bankruptcy; Grandmother sends you fifty dollars. Are you then in good financial shape?

I gather you think so. The stimulus put a little money in a few pockets. The national debt kept right on rising Does it take a depression for you to know that the finances of the USA are in big trouble?

I doubt that would even convince you that spending is not the way to go to remove debt.

Everybody is not a simpleton like you. Bush took down a central Middle East dictatorship (Iraq) which had already agressively invaded Kuwait. His intelligence agency told him there were wmds in Iraq. With that info and his overall advancememnt in the war against terror (which has prevented other attacks on the USA), he laid the plans to stop terrorism. Obama has followed his exact plans.

If you want to complain about the cost now, talk to President Obama. He has continued the wars against terror for the last four years and it still costs money. Lotsa money so be sure and tell him, sweetums, because he seems to know nothing about the control of finances.
