With the election results almost upon us, Jay Bookman, Aaron Gould Sheinin and I decided it was time for another chat using Google+ Hangout. Check it out:
Depending on how quickly the results come in tonight, we’ll do another of these either tonight or tomorrow morning.

What’s next?? Same old, same old. Nothing fundamentally ever changes with elections in this country and that is exactly how the powers-that-be like it.
Seriously, What exactly is fundamentally different about Obama and Romney’s positions on these critical issues: Ending the empire, slashing military spending, restoring sound money, abolishing the Federal Reserve, eliminating unconstitutional government agencies, restoring a free market in health care, restoring a free market in everything else, ending the failed war on drugs, ending the ethanol subsidy program, ending agriculture subsidies, ending bank bailouts, eliminating entitlement programs, ending the income tax for everyone, ending the wars in the middle east and bringing all the troops home to defend America, restoring integrity to our election system by banning all electronic/unauditable voting machines. You get my point. I could go on for hours showing that on every major issue that would actually positively impact the American economy and restore freedom and liberty, Obama and Romney are both the same and both on the side of continued tyranny. No hope for change folks. The ship is headed for the proverbial cliff and though you may notice a slightly decreased rate of acceleration from one, the end result will be the same. Prepare, buy gold, buy food, get your money out of the dollar and out of treasury bills, and prepare for the disaster that lies ahead.

Bravo, you two. Do wish Jay would temper his uber-liberal gambits (but most of the time methinks he’s in the sane range) and VERY much wish Kyle would be CONSERVATIVE and not “right wing” or just plain radical (witness knee-jerk support of the Amendment 1 debacle which is actually “You voters are just plain too stupid to take care of your schools so we’ll do it for you” – which is not under any rational definition “conservative”), but hats off for avoiding the dueling field.

Two observations:
1. The first black President WAS re-elected…in 1996.
2. Much as I hate to say it, we probably WILL hear about lawsuits, not election results, come tomorrow morning. Here’s a good start:
http://www.politico.com/blogs/under-the-radar/2012/11/judge-sets-hearing-in-ohio-provisional-votes-fight-148512.html?hp=l13
My guess is one candidate will have a bit over 260 electoral votes, the other a bit over 250 electoral votes. I won’t guess which is which. Whoever wins the lawsuit, and then Ohio, wins the election. This brings to mind something I read during the hubbub surrounding the election 12 years ago. Replace November 8th with November 6th and 2005 with 2017, and it should make a little more sense: http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/blrevocation.htm

I would disagree with Jay, on the last question. If Obama loses it will be a repudiation of his policies. He’s gone far left in his first term and that wasn’t just intended to energize his base it’s the way Obama believes. The Democrats would have to re-think their strategy even if Obama wins what’s appearing to be a very close election. Of course even with those two scenarios the Democrats may not re-think their strategies as they’re pretty smug in believing that the country is trending far left. The financial collision course we’re on may ultimately turn the country far right of center. If Obama wins reelection he may end up wishing he hadn’t.

I agree with what you said, it is called over reaching and Dems are famous for that. Think Pelosi in 2007, when she came in like the demon she is, and just pushed everyone aside and said here is how we are going to govern, ignoring whatever procedures and past protocols that were previously used.

Kyle Wingfield said,
“I proudly cast my vote for the president. He has been a world-class leader even under extreme partisan opposition, record Republican fillibusters, and surrogate assaults. He killed our No.1 wanted man – Osama bin Laden, instituted badly needed banking regulations, ended the expensive war in Iraq, signed the fair-pay act for women, ended DOMA, rescued our auto industry from total collapse, and our economy from bleeding 800k jobs a month, among others.
Considering the hand dealt him by his predecessor and what he has accomplished in almost 4 short years under unimaginably difficult circumstances, I couldn’t live with myself if I did not help MOVE our country FORWARD by voting for our president.
I therefore, urge all my readers and voters to vote Obama/Biden 2012. It is the least we can do for our country.”

Finn, here’s the thing: the liberal ideology DIDN’T WORK!
No administration in the history of this nation has ever had such a slow (and in some instances non-existent) recovery from an economic downturn.
And don’t try that tired old “but the GOP were obstructionists” crap, because according to that contrived list of his alleged accomplishments you touted on the previous column, he got 96% of his legislation through IN THE FIRST YEAR! He got most everything he wanted through his second year.
You can’t have it both ways, sonny-boy.
Maybe if he actually TRIED to work with the GOP instead of dismissing their ideas out of hand, he might have gotten something through in years 3 or 4, but if he doesn’t learn to play nice in the sandbox (if he’s re-elected of course), he’s going to have the same problems for AT LEAST 2 more, if not 4 more years.
Romney will at least work with the other side, and watch him peel off a couple of moderate Dems if he’s elected to get through his agenda.

Of course, any GOP encumb. who works for compromise is subject to being ousted in his/her home state primary by another GOP’er running to the right of him/her. And – so? I never said we didn’t. However, “adding” jobs is a bit subjective, given that there are still fewer people working now than were working when he took office. So technically, we haven’t added a single job since 2009. In addition, many of the jobs added are part-time jobs, not full-time as were the ones that were lost.

ABC News’ The Note reports that the Romney campaign is serious about its chances in Pennsylvania, a closely divided state that Democrats have nonetheless won for the last twenty years:
All the body language from the Romney campaign suggests that they see Ohio as a long-shot. Instead, it is now Pennsylvania that paves their path to 270. The Keystone state has eluded plenty of industrious and hopeful Republicans before Romney. While the western and central parts of the state tilt red, the city of Philadelphia and its sprawling and populous suburbs are the key to winning the state.
This gets to Team Romney’s theory of the race. For Pennsylvania to be genuinely competitive, the composition of the elctorate needs to be whiter than is currently projected. At the moment, pollsters assume a voting pool similar to the one in 2008, when 74 percent of voters identified white, and 26 percent of voters identified as nonwhite. Pennsylvania was on the lower end of that — according to exit polls, African Americans, Latinos and Asian Americans were 18 percent of the electorate in the state. Romney is essentially counting on high turnout among whites — and lower turnout from African Americans and Latinos — to push Pennsylvania into the toss-up column. Then, he would have a chance to capture the state, and make up for his problems in Ohio. And if Team Romney thinks this is a real possibility, than they’re also counting on a whiter electorate nationwide.

So in your world, Cheesy, there is no consideration for early and absentee voting totals – just polling, right?
Polling that consistently uses a 2008 or better model for Democrat turnout when no such enthusiasm exists IN THE POLLS THEMSELVES.
But when early and absentee votes ARE calculated which shows a complete wipeout of Obama’s margin of victory in Ohio in 2008 (before the first person goes to the polls today – when Republicans generally wait to vote), you don’t consider that because it doesn’t fit your desires?

They and states like New York and New Jersey subsidize the welfare Southern states like Alabama Georgia and Mississippi etc.
They send far more money in to the government than they get back and the poorer states like Georgia take that money.

Mighty bold big talk . . . since no poll in the U.S. has yet closed.

“If you are going to cry…….”
Merely stating the obvious if one has a clue as to how things actually work in this world…………

Barack is the best – I agree. In both chats I have watched Kyle was much more moderate than in some of his blog articles.

You do not speak for me nor do I speak for you. You are welcome to respond to any comment on the blog, just as I am, but quit putting words in people’s mouth to meet your narrative. That is stupid and I am sure you are much smarter than that. Act like it, dear child.

Oh I have a clue. My education, income, charity work, etc speaks for itself.
But do carry on with your stereotypical stupidity

BL, you seem to be having a problem following the bouncing ball…..it was you that had the question on unions and wages, and I merely added to the conversation…..do try to keep up….dear child.

I added much more to the conversation than just unions. You elected to show selective condemnation and go after one thing as well as putting words in my mouth.
You need a drink. Can you have one or is that why you are so rigid today?

Ohhhhh….tooting one’s own horn, good for you.
Now, would you like to carry on the debate about wages or are you already too full of wisdom??

Again, try to follow the bouncing ball……I commented on unions AND non-unions, but you must have missed that little tid-bit…..are you drinking without me?

Never drink during the week and not every weekend.
Some people have that kind of self control, do you?

The people I feel sorry for are those (like Finn McCool) who have decided that disagreement with someone means you hate them. Hate and disagreement are two seperate terms. Please consult a dictionary to remove any confusion of the meanings of each.

The future of the US Supreme Court is that indivdual liberty and equal right under law have prevailed over tyranny by the evangelical zealots; also, the winners include the employee class and the consumer class.
The “fiscal cliff” can now be used as as a tool with very real potential to reinvigorate the economic middle class [ instead of the GOP plan to use it as as tool with which the moneyed investor class who are the wealthiest among us would use to finish destroying the economic middle class as they further widen the wealth gap, resulting in a society of a few landed gentry with everyone else not serving as obedient military as sharecroppers and/or indentured servants to the wealthiest among us.
