I may as well bow to the reality that y’all will spend the entire weekend talking about the election regardless of what topic I write about, so here it is: Your weekend-before-the-election open thread.
The rules still apply — it’s an open thread, not a no-holds-barred thread — but otherwise, have at it.

I don’t know, we could also spend some time talking about how stupid it is to hold a marathon while people are still digging out, fighting for survival and preparing for another winter storm. Nah, you are probably right, it will be 95% election talk. Hope we have an answer some time Tuesday night, but it looks like it could drag on for a couple of days before we know definitevly.

You are right. The election will be the topic of discussion throughout the weekend.
Tell Dick Morris to place his blood pressure medication on advance order. He will need them on Tuesday and beyond as his agony over a potential Democratic win is not about to expire anytime soon.
On another note, I thought Bloomberg going ahead with the marathon thing is in poor taste and in fact, an exhibition of poor judgement.

Kyle, do the patriotic thing and endorse Obama. Convince all your right-wing friends to have a change of heart and drag them to the polls by the tens to vote a straight Democratic ticket on Tuesday.
Under Obama, we now have an effective banking regulation, ended the EXPENSIVE war in Iraq that was concocted on LIES. He also killed Osama bin Laden, and is committed to ending the other senseless war we continue to fight. Sounds like Americans will remember, and continue moving FORWARD.
Compare him to the Robme/Ruin ticket that changes its stances on the issues every 3 seconds.

I think that’s the main problem. It takes generators, cops, hotel rooms and other resources of which there clearly are not enough. This makes cancellation a no-brainer in my book.
That’s before you start discussing the wisdom of holding a sporting event while they’re still digging around for bodies. It’s like “Hey, grandma is missing but isn’t this race cool?”

So very glad the Mayor of NYC took a different tack. The split screen images would have ripped hearts to pieces. People rummaging out of trash dumpsters, waking long distances for water to flush toilets, let alone drink. 70 to 90 year olds lugging water up tens of flights of stairs to rooms with no running water, nor electricity. While crowds lavish runners with water, shouts of support, etc. while thousands suffer, and are essentially abandoned or not yet reachable.

So, hsn, the only conclusion is that Obama hasn’t really done anything but follow his predecessor’s policies, and still not fixed the big issue, which is the economy.

I agree. The “split screen ” would have essentially ended any future political hopes both Gov. Cuomo, and Mayor Bloomberg had. They and their corporate sponsors would have been done for good. It would have been seen as a “judgement” or “lack thereof” issue.
I, too, am glad the most sensible action has been taken out of respect for the victims of Sandy, even if for nothing else.

Bloomberg is an absolute nut job. He bans large soda buying and schedules a marathon during a hurricane recovery. Why doesn’t he use those generators to run gas pumps. I feel so sorry for those folks trying to get gas to run generators to stay warm. Those generators have been wasted for two days sitting in Central Park waiting for the media to come to the marathon. Yet, people praise the buffoon for finally cancelling the event. How many victims was he planning to run out of hotels for his marathon runners. How many police and fire department people was he going to usurp to work the marathon. What a loser, just the type to endorse Barry the Blunderer.
And did the non union utility people finally find work, and were they screamed at and called Scabs? I didn’t want them to turn around and leave people in the cold, but I wish they could ID the folks shouting Scabs and leave them in the dark.

Here we go again ! The cons taking credit for anything that succeeds under Obama and claiming it was due to the “continued GW Bush policies.”
But as soon as things go wrong, the same people can’t take the blame on the “GW Bush policies.” Their usual response is, “Well, Bush is no longer in office anymore.”
You claim you are voting for “the guy with actual experience in creating jobs…” Well if Robme was soo great at “creating jobs” it seems to me he should be ahead in the polls in Massachusetts by a landslide. In fact the good people of Massachusetts quite remember that their state ranked 47th in job creation while Robme was governor. That is how abysmal Robme’s record of “job creation” is. But hey, to you cons, I guess it is a record to “flaunt.”
And please quit harping on “experience”… We’ve heard this before. What EXACTLY did the towerhigh combined “EXPERIENCES” of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Rice do for us during Bush’s 8-year reign of terror? They trapped us into hugely expensive wars, ran our economy to the ground, GOT REWARDED for 4 MORE YEARS, pushed us to the edge of financial cliff and left a tsunami of disaster behind that we are still mopping up.
But oh no! You cons never learn. You want to place the same tape back into the player, and press “repeat.” Sorry, you can keep that type of “experience.”

You sir are a LIAR. As usual, folks like you were duped, yet again.
Gov. Christie today put to bed the ghost story that non-union Alabama utility workers were turned away.
Christie said he spoke to utility and union officials today and that a worker from Alabama called from Roanoke, Va., and was given bad advice. That person, in turn, spoke to a local news outlet there and the story mushroomed.
Christie, in no uncertain terms, said he would put an end to such nonsense if it happens.
He also said that if the workers are still in Roanoke they are welcome here.
Thanks for that report to Bob Ingle, senior political columnist for Gannett New Jersey newspapers and co-author of The New York Times’ Best Seller, “The Soprano State: New Jersey’s Culture of Corruption” and “Chris Christie: The Inside Story Of His Rise To Power.” On Twitter @ bobingle99

Did a group of Alabama power-company workers get turned away from Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts in New Jersey because they weren’t union crews? It depends on which website you’re reading. A Decatur Utilities worker said that after driving more than 1,000 miles, they were essentially told “thanks but no thanks” because their nonunion status kept them from working in the state. But other Alabama power companies have disputed that story. Huntsville Utilities said its crews went to Long Island because Jersey had all the help it needed. “We were not turned away,” spokesman Bill Yell said. “It’s complicated … You don’t just go up there and say, ‘Hey, we’re here. We’re going to start putting up poles for you.

hsn, I would first note that I use the President’s actual name (as in Obama) while you denigrate the opposing candidate’s name (as in RobMe). That is the first indicator that you are not serious in your choices or knowledge of this year’s current Presidential candidates.
Second, comparing the Massachusetts of today with the one which elected Romney, and putting a personable, minority candidate (and incumbent President) against him to try to compare experience levels, is disingenuous at best, and foolish at worst. One doesn’t compare “experience” with “popularity”. They are contrasting points.
I will not defend GWB. Never have, except for his handling of the post-9/11 issues (except for that foolish Patriot Act, he was everything America could hope for in a leader). However, just because Mitt Romney is of the same political party, that doesn’t mean he has the same talent as the previous occupant. Nor does it mean he has the same policies as GWB, despite the Obama and DNC campaign structures attempts to paint him so.
In short, no matter what position Mitt Romney has undertaken in life, he has succeeding at it, and wildly so. You can use any measurement you want to, but that is an undeniable FACT. Most of those positions created actual jobs without going into debt.
I’ll take THAT guy over the guy who has failed at that every day.

Just to shed a little light, I don’t know about Alabama but I used to work for an EMC here in GA. To the best of my knowledge, every electrical utility in Georgia has a contract with IBEW.
It’s also true that you don’t just go to a storm area and volunteer to go to work. The way it works is that utilities in the affected area put out calls for help. In the case of a storm like this one, these calls probably went out long before the storm ever got there. Crews from wherever (with their own trucks and equipment) then go to a specific utility and report in. The local utility runs the show and sends the crews wherever they think they are needed.
I have no way of knowing (having not seen any reports of this until skimming through the blog) but I tend to doubt the authenticity of the story in question. I’d have to see some footage.

Uh, gullible. I’d be a bit more circumspect in tossing out the “liar” accusation.
Your own rebuttal (and other reports) showed that it may well have happened, even if it was a “misunderstanding”. The mere fact that Christie has said he would put an end to them says that there may be some truth to the story, no matter how slight it may be.

His early voting / absentee ballot trend he’s been following there has wiped out the entire margin of victory that Obama had in 2008. There is a combination of more GOP voters and less Democrat voters to the tune of 263,000 votes likely going to Romney, and Obama’s margin of victory was 262,000. If Republicans continue to to the poll on election day as they usually do (and McCain won the election day votes but lost the early votes), Romney takes Ohio. There are also tens of thousands less residents in Cuyahoga County (Democrat stronghold of Cleveland) than there were in 2008. They might have moved and stayed in Ohio, but they might not have, either. Either way, the people who look at JUST raw polls aren’t picking up on this kind of analysis.

We should be talking about freedom, liberty, sound money, sound foreign policy, personal freedom, small government, constitutional government – in other words, we should be talking about everything that we will NOT be getting regardless of whether Obama or Romney gets elected. Sadly, even Gary Johnson, the Libertarian Party candidate falls far short of the libertarian ideals he claims to support.
So when that discussion ends, we should be talking about the imminent demise of the american empire, the imminent collapse of the dollar, preparing by stocking up on food, fuel, guns, ammo, or getting out of this country completely before it all goes to hell, just how bad and repressive the government reaction to the collapse will be, how many people will be taken from their homes by force and imprisoned in the series of FEMA camps that have been built all around the nation, why the government has purchased over 750 MILLION rounds of ammunition of various calibers despite only using 25 million rounds a year at the height of the Afghanistan/Iraq wars, and other uplifting topics that will be at the forefront of our discussions again, regardless of which totalitarian statist gets elected.
Wonder what people who live in free countries are talking about this weekend? Maybe they are talking about how they wish Ron Paul hadn’t been robbed of the nomination by Romney and his goons and how they really hoped there was a chance for america to regain its freedom.

hsn, I would first note that I use the President’s actual name (as in Obama) while you denigrate the opposing candidate’s name (as in RobMe).
================================================
I will begin to take you seriously when you begin making cogent arguments. You claim one can’t compare the running of a state with the running of the entire republic. Yet, you are perfectly ready to claim that running Bain and a Winter Olympics held in the middle of nowhere is a predictor of how successful one can run the entire republic.
But you do prove my point because if all Robme could muster for a mere state was to rank 47TH in job creation, then why should he be trusted with 49 more states?
You also say, “In short, no matter what position Mitt Romney has undertaken in life, he has succeeding at it, and wildly so…” Yeah, exploiting gullible people with tools of “vulture capitalism” and making millions off them is not exactly what I would call “success.”
I don’t expect you to defend GW Bush. Afterall, around this time in the campaign for his second term, I suspect you and your con friends were actively busy TOUTING Bush’s “EXPERIENCE” and “SUCCESS.” You went ahead and rewarded him with YOUR VOTE for 4 MORE YEARS so you get to live with it.
YES, Robme is NOT GW Bush, but LISTEN to the trickle-down economic policies he is proposing, look at the FOREIGN POLICY advisors he is parading with, etc… NOBODY needs to remind you of GW Bush. Robme will say anything, anything to get elected. He was against pulling the troops out of Afghanistan, he comes to the debate and he agrees with Obama almost 100%. He was against the auto bailout, now he is for it.
Every politician changes positions but the rate Mitt Robme does his is at an unprecedented level. But hey, he is a Republican so you will vote for him anyway. Party come first. It is a question of character. These people know Robme quite well and so does the American electorate.

Let’s talk about the dismal state government in Georgia and how the Republicans have failed miserably at their attempts to govern.
Foxbusiness.com- not exactly an enemy of the GOP- issued it’s annual list of most corrupt states. Georgia topped the list- worst in the nation. Don’t believe me? Read this:. Georgia
> Overall grade: F (49%)
> Public access to information: F
> Legislative accountability: F
> Political financing: F
> Ethics enforcement agencies: F
Georgia has the worst levels of corruption risk and lack of accountability of any state in the country. The state scored a D or worse in 12 of the 14 categories. The state’s biggest problem is the absence of a strong ethics enforcement agency. Republican governor Sonny Perdue managed to get an ethics bill through the legislature, but by the time it passed, his proposals to ban gifts to state workers and clearly define appropriate campaign spending had been stripped out. According to State Integrity reporter Jim Walls, while Georgia has provisions to prevent certain kinds of corruption in campaign finance and lobbying, the state is full of unaddressed loopholes and lax enforcement. “About 2,000 Georgia officials, including one in five sitting legislators, have failed to pay penalties for filing their disclosures late, or not at all.”

“You claim one can’t compare the running of a state with the running of the entire republic. ”
Strange, but I never wrote such garbage. Only in your fertile imagination did I do so. But we’ll continue . . .
“Yet, you are perfectly ready to claim that running Bain and a Winter Olympics held in the middle of nowhere is a predictor of how successful one can run the entire republic.”
Yes, especially since the current President ran NOTHING before being elected, and HIS record of failure is readily apparent each and every day. But we’ll continue . . .
“But you do prove my point because if all Robme could muster for a mere state was to rank 47TH in job creation, then why should he be trusted with 49 more states? ”
Once again, you fail to show your seriousness and maturity in debating this subject with your name-calling of Romney, when I have shown nothing but respect by using the President’s real name. In addition, you use the “there are lies, damned lies, and statistics” debate, which proves you do not pay attention to the actual facts, but cherry-pick that which supports your side. However, the FACT is that Mass. unemployment rate dropped from the mid-6% range to the mid 4% range during Mitt Romney’s term of office. Most every economist considers 4% virtual full employment. When you consider there was little room to improve the raw numbers any further, it is difficult to show percentile improvement as others did who were worse off than Massachusetts. But we’ll continue . . .
“Afterall, around this time in the campaign for his second term, I suspect you and your con friends were actively busy TOUTING Bush’s “EXPERIENCE” and “SUCCESS.” You went ahead and rewarded him with YOUR VOTE for 4 MORE YEARS so you get to live with it. ”
Never voted for Bush. Not once. But we’ll continue . . .
“Yeah, exploiting gullible people with tools of “vulture capitalism” and making millions off them is not exactly what I would call “success.””
No “vulture capitalism” was used in the Salt Lake City games turnaround. Nor was it used at Bain. In FACT, 70% of firms invested in by Bain under Romney’s leadership created or saved jobs – many of those jobs that would have been lost if Bain hadn’t invested in them for years. But we’ll continue . . .
“He was against pulling the troops out of Afghanistan, he comes to the debate and he agrees with Obama almost 100%.”
He was against the TIMING of the pullout, but not the pullout itself.
“He was against the auto bailout, now he is for it. ”
An absolute lie on your part. He was always for MANAGED bankruptcy, where the government would guarantee loans to keep GM afloat while management was restructured – just the way every major corporation goes through bankruptcy without a direct government takeover. GM would still be alive, but more importantly, their business model would have been better restructured and more top executives would have been given their walking papers. And yes, union contracts which are killing every auto maker would have been restructured as well in the case of GM. But we’ll continue . . .
“But hey, he is a Republican so you will vote for him anyway. Party come first.”
Actually, I usually vote either Libertarian or None of the Above. This time, I’m voting for experience and success; neither of which Obama had before being elected, or has after 4 years.

Leave America Now Liberals
November 3rd, 2012
12:42 am
I saw the comment by the ass that said that conservatives or anyone who disagrees with his 3rd-Reich Obama movement are un-American.
Liberals (not necessarily Democrats) are the most un-American people this country has had to endure especially for the past 40 years. Liberal interpretation of the Constitution by Federal Courts has moved this country in the wrong direction on many issues, but worst of all it has made the Judicial branch of government a defacto-Legislative branch.
No other group of people have done more to expand the power of Federal government than liberals in our government. I won’t go into all the various actions but things today that we think are normal such as Social Security were unheard of when they were first proposed. When I was growing up people talked ablout how great it was, but I used to ask a simple question – why can’t people just chose to save money themselves; why does the government force them to save money? Now we are dealing with a huge failure looming of a big liberal “big brother” program that will ultimately fail just like most nanny-state initiatives will.
Speaking of government thinking they know better than the average citizen, the Affordable Healthcare Act is another program that will fail this country given enough time. Since government agencies are not held accountable to profitability like private insurance companies are I’m sure that the ultimate plan is to unfairly compete with existing healthcare companies who will throw up there hands because they can’t compete with the deep pockets of the FED (our money). Then the only game in town will be Obama scare.
Yes liberals need to get their heads out of their a** and realize that not all business is corrupt, not all success is evil, and not all of government is altruistic and honest. Stop destroying the architecture of the founding fathers of this country. They did not have everything perfect, but not one current-day liberal can hold a candle to the wisdom of even the least of the founding fathers.
Now pack your bags for Ireland. I’m sure Alec will put you up for a night or two.

We should just take away their guns and see to it that they don’t arrest anyone.

Unemployment is lower now than when Obama took office. It was 8.2 then and it’s 7.9 now. Lil’ needs to learn how to do math. And no rational person would argue that a president’s financial policies could have a noticable effect on a national economy in less than 6 months to a year, and when Obama had been in office for 6 months the unemployment rate was at 9.5 and at 10 months it was 10%. There has been a HUGE reduction in unemployment since his policies took effect.
The stock market has doubled since his first year in office (from 6,500 in 2009 to 13,000 now). The housing market has stabilized. New unemployment claims are down as the number of jobs created is rising. Anyone who think the economy hasn’t improved is either ignorant or indoctrinated into hating this country.

Rev. Lowery, from the pulpit, told a racist joke about white people going to hell. While some have called him out on this, you may be sure the establishment press will essentially give him a free pass. For his part, Lowery has professed suprise that anyone would be offended by his remarks.
Imagine an elderly white, retired leader making a joke from the pulpit about all blacks going to hell. Do you think Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would ignore it? The establishment press? Absolutely not! They would come down with both feet on this white man.
This is what’s known as a double standard. It’s been around for some time now and is one of the reasons civil rights progress has not only come to a halt but is starting to go backwards. Many blacks know this but, hang on to their double standard “rights”. Why, you ask? Because these “rights” give them the opportunity to stick it to whitey, and not have to worry about whites having reciprocal rights.
So, the next time any of you complain about your “civil rights”, I will give your whining all the attention it truly deserves.

You are right for once, a close example of what you are talking about is the ruckus raised with Trent Lott jokingly said of Strom Thurmond, on the eve of his retirement, that maybe America might be better off if Strom had won the Presidency in 1948. Strom had run as a Dixiecrat. It was said in humor and as somewhat of a complement for 100 year old Strom. The race pimps jumped on this and the bruha went on for weeks. Basically, Romney thinks Americans are dumb.
‘How did you get your wealth?’ “We’ve given ‘you people’ enough of our tax returns.”
‘How are you going to balance the budget, while giving more tax cuts to the rich, and increasing military spending?’ “By eliminating tax deductions, but I’m not going to tell you which ones.”
‘How are you going to improve the economy?’ “I have a five point plan; you’ll like it when you see if after you elect me.”
Sorry, Mr. Romney, but a majority of Americans are likely smarter than you think we are.

Cherokee, in case you haven’t been paying attention, each and every pollster (while standing by the “accuracy” of their polls) have all stated they need to re-think the way they poll. Too few landlines are not representative of the electorate as we move to a cellular society. Not only that, early voting is skewing all the numbers, if they’re even included at all into the poll (a majority of them don’t use those numbers).
This is to say that it will be a minor miracle if ANYBODY’S polls are accurate following Tuesday’s election. Best bet is that one or two national polls will be with the margins, but state polls will be off considerably.
I will be disappointed if Obama wins re-election, but I won’t be surprised no matter who wins.

That’s what this older gentleman used to tell me all the time. Especially when I told him about something that was worrying me.
Tuesday night “it’ll all come out in the wash” as Romney suffers a humiliating defeat. Then, he can go back to what he does best: shipping jobs to China a la Sensata Technologies. He can go back to hiding his money in offshore accounts to evade paying taxes. He can go back to not having to worry about releasing his tax returns. But, most of all, he can go back to not having to worry about making up the “correct” lies for whichever audience he happens to be addressing at the moment.
You cons can go back to trying to some other imbecile that you think has a minute chance of being elected by old white people by 2016. Good luck!

You could, without stretching, make an aesthetic case for voting against Barack Obama. Leaving aside the hobbled economy, the promised second term “flexibility” with Putin, the job-diminishing Dodd/Frank act, the Benghazi debacle, the train wreck called Obamacare, the assault on the free exercise of religion, the pretense that the Lilly Ledbetter Act codified equal pay for equal work, the limp response to Iran’s nuclear threat, the many Solyndras, kicking Bowles/Simpson to the curb, the “free” contraceptives, the recommendation that Israel do some “serious self-reflection,” the preening over bin Laden’s assassination, the Bill Clinton ad saying Romney wouldn’t have approved the mission, the pretense that Gabby Giffords’ shooting should put us on the path to political civility, the savaging of Paul Ryan in a speech to which he had been specifically invited, and the fact that Obama didn’t know the number when David Letterman asked about how big the national debt has become — there are grounds for firing Obama that rest upon seemliness.

Obama’s was inaugurated on Jan. 20, 2009. His first full month in office was February 2009. The unemployment rate that month was 8.3%. It is now 7.9%. That is a decrease for you mathematically challenged conservatives out there. Even the dimmest Republicans (with the exception of Barry & Tiberius) would have to admit that when a president comes into office it takes some time for his policies to take effect on the economy at a macro level and that the numbers at the initial part of his term are residual effects of the previous administration. So how long should we give him until we expect his policies to influence the economy? A year? (unemployment = 9.8% in 2/2010) 10 months? (unemployment = 10% in 10/2009) 6 months? (unemployment = 9.5% in 6/2009) 3 months? (unemployment = 8.7% in 3/2009).
Any way you slice it, the unemployment rate has dropped considerably under Obama. And Obama has created more jobs in 4 years than Bush did in 8 years.
The Dow may have been at 14,000 at some point under Bush, right before he destroyed the economy. It was at 9000 and dropping when he left office (5000 points below where it is right now). And yes, the Dow is a partial indicator of the strength of the economy (and certainly affects my net worth).
But it doesn’t surprise me when criminal swindlers (Tib) are supporting a fellow swindler (Myth Romney).

Well, it is always nice to remember THE NATION’S DEBT
Martin Crutsinger AP wrote a ;piece about it in AJC Nov. 1 on page A2. Here are a few quotes from his piece “Debt limit will be hit in December, feds say”
“Treasury Assistant Secretary Matthew Rutherford said Treasury would employ the same types of procedures it has used previously to keep borrowing under the current debt limit of $16.39 trillion until Congress votes to increase the debt limit ceiling. The nation’s debt stands $16.16 trillion.”
and
“Lawmakers and the administration will also need to reach agreement on a budget reduction plan to avert tax increases and across the board spending cuts from taking effect in January. Economists have warned that if this so called fiscal cliff is not avoided, the adverse effects on the economy could push the country back into recession.”
and
“Treasury says it expects to borrow $342 billion during the January-March quarter of next year..”
Crutsinger also mentioned the ways Treasury will “get around” the debt ceiling so they can still borrow money.
It does look like our present $16.16 TRILLION DEBT will be even greater by the end of the year. Then the debt ceiling will be raised next year.
We definitely need some NEW fiscal management in this country. Romney knows how to do it as he already has the experience of doing it successfully.. . .

My principal worry is that crowd of Cheney worshipers who Romney has on his foreign policy team.
You’ve so boxed yourself in to a narrow ideology, that there’s little chance you could make a similar statement if the President is re-elected.

I am proud to have worked for President Bill Clinton and then-Senator Hillary Clinton, and, during that time, I saw firsthand what can be accomplished by strong, bipartisan leadership. I know what it means to work across the aisle on issues that are important to the American people. And that’s why I am supporting Mitt Romney. Governor Romney has a plan to restore the prosperity this country deserves and expects. He will work with people of good will no matter what their party, and he will pursue the policies that are in the best interest of our country, no matter who proposes them. That’s what President Obama promised to do four years ago. But like so many of his promises, bipartisan cooperation is just another one he has broken. We can’t have four more years of failed policies and two parties that can’t work together. We need the change Mitt Romney is offering.” Gigi Georges

The largest changes in the composition of the electorate compared with the last presidential election concern the partisan affiliation of voters. Currently, 46% of likely voters identify as Democrats or lean Democratic, compared with 54% in 2008. But in 2008, Democrats enjoyed a wide 12-point advantage in party affiliation among national adults, the largest Gallup had seen in at least two decades. More recently, Americans have been about as likely to identify as or lean Republican as to identify as or lean Democratic.

Either you do not understand the word obnoxious, or you have a very different concept of ethics than I have. Whenever Tiberius is shown to be wrong, or does not have answers to an argument, he resorts to insults and bullying. This goes well beyond any disagreements about politics. Those are methods of someone intellectually inferior and a moral coward. The notion that you would defend such a character is incomprehensible to me.
As for LBB, the above applies even more strongly. Here are some of his “clever ‘ comments (according to Dusty)

Don’t despair Cons; the Romney folks control many of the voting machines across the country-particularly Ohio. Strange investment for a candidate’s family and top supporters isn’t it? We’ll have another of those unxeplainable variances from exit polls of a couple hundred thousand votes in Ohio just like in 2004 with the GOP in control there and same in Florida. Then we will see Karl Rove boasting that he predicted Romney would take those states. If that doesn’t work Scalia is ready to select Romney by finding any vote challenge violates Romney’s civil rights provided Scalia’s son is on Romney’s legal team and is guaranteed a job in the administration- just like ocurred in 2000 with George W..

Bush, has been missing in action totally this election. He surfaced Friday , however, in the Cayman Islands where he is delivering the keynote address at a private “investment” conference.
The press is locked out. A spokesman for the Cayman Alternative Investment Summit says the speech is totally closed to all journalists. Spokesman Dan Kneipp says he is not even permitted to discuss the subject of Bush’s speech scheduled for Thursday evening at the Ritz-Carlton. Attendees are paying $4,000 each to get advice at this “investment” seminar. Sponsors include KPMG, a company that provides tax advisory services, and Deutsche Bank.
What is the conference about? It is about the benefits of using the Cayman Islands to shelter income in order to avoid paying U.S. taxes. How did George Bush become an expert on the subject? Perhaps Mitt Romney gave him some tips.”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”

Here’s why the romneys will not disclose their 2009 tax return:
“”"”"”"”"”"”A trust in Ann Romney’s name listed “more than $1 million” invested with Elliott Management, run by hedge fund guru and GOP mega-donor Paul Singer. (That’s the minimum amount of disclosure required by law, so it could have been much more than $1 million.) Singer subsequently snapped up large amounts of stock in Delphi at pennies on the dollar, and then, along with other hedge funds, demanded that the government assume pension responsibilities and bail the company out—or they would shut it down, thus crushing General Motors as well.
The government acceded, Delphi became lucrative again and then went public, and Elliott Management and its investors—including Romney—reaped enormous rewards.
Under any rational interpretation of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978, these are holdings that a presidential candidate would need to disclose, because they can be affected by government action. The Romney campaign doesn’t argue that they are not, but rather that, since Ann Romney’s trust is “blind,” there is no disclosure requirement.
Ann Romney’s trust is blind in name only. Romney himself has said that “the blind trust is an age-old ruse, if you will. Which is to say you can always tell a blind trust what it can and cannot do.” Moreover, this is not a federally recognized blind trust of the sort Romney would be forced to create if he won the White House. If it was, he would have never been able to reap his windfall from Delphi”"”"”"”"”"”"

You may well be right, in whole or part, about Bush and Cheney. As a conservative I certainly had my problems with them; it was BUSH (not Obama) who effectively spawned the Tea Party. But the Democrats and their media mouthpieces are taking us over the cliff economically, socially, politically, and in foreign relations. This election is about ideological direction, core values, and liberty.

I hate to keep beating a dead horse, but, since the Benghazi dead horse continues to be pounded, let’s note that nother was done wrong there other than trying to get the information out as soon as possible. The GOP wouldn’t pass a budget bill until the security for our embassies was cut, so we didn’t have enough people on the ground. It was the anniversary of 9/11 and some nut had released an anti Islamic video. The CIA still doesn’t know whether the attackers decided to attack then in order to take advantage of the chaos. Oh, and there was chaos at American embassies all over the ME, so, where do you send your GOP limited resources? It is most unfortunate that four people were killed, but, at least they were working for the government and knew that was a risk. The Bush Administration had intel presented to them months before 9/11/2001 that Al Queda was going to fly planes into our buildings. Bush was even friends with some of the Bin Laden clan from his oil days, so he could have asked them what brother Osama was up to. The people at risk weren’t government employees who signed on knowing they were taking risks, they were civilians working office jobs. Over 3000 Americans were killed (and thousands more in the ensuing wars) because Bush couldn’t figure out how to address this intel. I don’t blame Bush – you can’t protect thousands of airports and millions of buildings with limited resources, but, nevertheless, he was the head man on duty. Anybody who tries to say what Obama did or didn’t do is somehow worse than what Bush did or didn’t do is either a) just dumb or b) just playing politics, pure and simple. That’s why it’s not a story – because, just like Reagan got over 200 Marines killed in Lebanon and Bush got over 3000 killed on 9/11/2001 and more soldiers died in Viet Nam under Nixon than under Johnson and Kennedy combined, people understand that when America exerts its power overseas, it’s risky and there are people who don’t want us in their countries. Those people will try to kill us and sometimes they succeed. People who want to believe ancient aliens built the pyramids, the world will end in 2012 and there was a shooter on the grassy knoll in Dallas will never believe the truth about things, but normal people ought to process facts.

The crap about the video spawning this attack was debunked by the CIA’s Chief of Station within 24 hours of the attack.
You may not like it, but Fox news has proven without a shadow of a doubt with the administrations own emails and state department cables that the administration lied to the American people from the first weekend following the murders and continues to cover up their mistakes even now. “The Republican voters hate Obama but they desperately need him. Without him, there will be no excuse for blindly following the party directives to vote for a man who is anti-Christian, anti-liberty, and anti-life. Obama provides the perfect excuse why principled voting should be avoided at any cost, and the party line should be toed. Just like the Nazis needed the Communists, and the Communists needed the Nazis to justify their immorality, today’s Republican voters need Obama as the reason why they don’t have to think clearly, and why they don’t have to be faithful to their professed conservative principles. If Obama didn’t exist, they would have invented him. While they all say how dangerous Obama is for America, none of them can explain why they vote for Romney without throwing the blame on Obama. Romney has no independent existence without Obama. And the GOP has no purpose unless it can use the Democrats as an excuse.
We can say, Obama serves an important political function for the neocon leadership of the GOP, and an important psychological function for the neocon voters.
That’s why it is so unbearable for them when they are asked the question about the difference between Romney and Obama. It brings them back to the reality of the mirror, and the face they hate in that mirror”

If Obama had announced in 2008 that he would take the unemployment rate from 7.8% in Jan., ‘09 to 10% by Oct., ‘09 & keep it above 9% for 2 years (the rest of ‘09, all of ‘10 & until 10/11), & bring it down to 8.9% in Oct., ‘11 & to 8.7% in Nov., ‘11 & to 8.5% in Dec., ‘11 & keep it above 8% for the first 8 months in ‘12 & finally back down to 7.8% in Sept., ‘12 before increasing again in Oct., ‘12, the liberals would have still voted for him.
Since the unemployment rate was 7.8% when Obama was inaugurated & has never been below 7.8%, the fact is that not ONE NET job has been created under the Obama adm. Zilch! Nada! At least he ended up where he started, until last month.
What is sad is that liberals actually believe that jobs have been created under the Obama adm., that the Obama adm. actually wanted to create jobs & that his next four years will be better than the last four years.
Shucks, with a few trillion more dollars thrown down the sewer, maybe better luck will flow out the other end.

Watching the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, I wouldn’t be surprised if Obama’s next demon is water.
In the ’70s, we were warned of Global Cooling. In the ’90s, it was Global Warming. In the ’00s, it became just plain old miscellaneous Climate Change. The culprit, we were told, was air, i.e., not dirty air, but just plain old air. We had too much air. We had too much of the air we naturally exhale & that plants naturally omit in the air. Too much air in the air. We were told that it was our fault & that politicians could fix the problem by taxing it. They could tax it or we would all die.
Seems like we might also have too much water, not dirty water, but just plain old water, both salty & saltless. It will be our fault & the politicians can get rid of the problem by taxing it.
If I were a betting person, I would bet that liberals would believe the entire story.

The Redskins Rule is a trend involving NFL football and United States presidential elections. Briefly stated, there is a high correlation between the outcome of the last Washington Redskins home football game prior to the U.S. Presidential Election and the outcome of the election: when the Redskins win, the incumbent party wins the electoral vote for the White House; when the Redskins lose, the non-incumbent party wins. This coincidence has been noted by many sports and political commentators and has held true since 1940.

When gas prices escalated under Bush, he lifted the presidential moratorium on exploration for oil & gas on the Otter Continental Shelf & in Alaska on 7/14/08, followed by the congressional moratorium being lifted on 10/1/08. Gas prices dropped based on speculation.
One of Obama’s first orders on 2/10/09 was to halt exploration. The moratoriums are back & will stay as long as Obama is in office.
If gas prices dropped in late ‘08/early ‘09 due to decreased demand/world-wide economic slowdown, why are they so high now with the world-wide economy still in the tank? Could it be due to the moratorium Obama also placed on the entire Gulf of Mexico, killing jobs & sending oil rigs to other countries?

More than 50 EPA staff are now crashing to finish greenhouse gas emission standards that would essentially ban all construction of new coal-fired power plants. Never before have so many EPA resources been devoted to a single regulation. The independent and non-partisan Manhattan Institute estimates that the EPA’s greenhouse gas coal regulation will cost the U.S. economy $700 billion.
The rush is a major sign of panic by environmentalists inside the Obama administration. If Obama wins, the EPA would have another four full years to implement their anti-fossil fuel agenda. But if Romney wins, regulators will have a very narrow window to enact a select few costly regulations that would then be very hard for a President Romney to undo.
He doesn’t quit in his efforts to bring the country to its knees. 700 billion more damage to our economy.

Obama has declared a war on coal, which fires almost half of our electric plants. He said, “If someone wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them…”

“But if Romney wins, regulators will have a very narrow window to enact a select few costly regulations that would then be very hard for a President Romney to undo.”
Unless those regulations are in the form of law and subject to the whelm of the courts, executive orders should be able to handle that situation. After all, look at what Hussein has been able to do via executive order!
The communists found their home in the environmental movement. It was and is a perfect place to handle redistribution of wealth on a global scale. Cap and Trade is a perfect example of that attempt. Hussein has had to proceed without that single piece of legislation, but he has been effective.

No, MarkV, I just don’t ignore the obvious–the redistribution, the wealth envy, the lack of respect for private property, the cronyism…Obozo’s a Marxist. And his adoration of Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers–he’s an America hater, born and raised.
Vote American. Even Democrats are doing it.

Ive always wondered what its like to live in a fantasy world where reality can be ignored. A world where every fact is dismissed and ignored simply because it doesn’t make MarkV ’s candidate look good.
What’s that fantasy world like MarkV?

How many times did Obama or someone from his administration go on TV in the days following the murders and say, “the best information we have is that it was a spontaneous demonstration” brought on by that idiotic video, MarkV?
Answer: DOZENS of times.
Except we now know that the CIA Chief of Station reported that it was a coordinated attack less than 24 hours following the murders.
We now know that the ambassador himself sent cables to the State Dept. (and directly to SOS Clinton) 3 weeks beforehand, stating his belief that his Libyan “protectors” were likely infiltrated and that the consulate was under surveillance.
We now know that the murdered ambassador identified at LEAST 10 terrorist cells operating in the Benghazi area weeks before he was killed.
Continue to stick you head (and other orifices) in the sand and deny the FACTS that only one news organization has had the wherewithal to ferret out, but you cannot change the REALITY of the FACTS, MarkV.
He may be the most incompetent boob to ever reside in the Oval Office, but regardless of that opinion I have of him, there is NO denying he and his administration has lied about Benghazi.
Unless your IQ has dropped below 30, or if you’re a liberal, which is about the same thing these days.

You, Tiberius, and the other moral cowards, cc, Lambeau and others, stop pour weaseling and squirming, and man up! You have accused the President of lying. If you stand by that, it should be obvious what to do:
1. Quote the President word by word (Provide a link or accurate information, so that it can be checked. If his is an answer to a question, make sure you include the question.)
2. Provide evidence, that the statement was a falsehood.
If you cannot do that, take the accusation back. Not that I expect that from people like you, who have only the “courage” to insult and accuse, not to admit, they were wrong.

OBAMA WINS – Stock Market predicts winner on Tuesday (absent Republican shenanigans)-
“”"”"”"”"There is a 94% chance you’re going to read that headline on Wednesday morning.
That’s because the direction of stocks has been a solidly reliable predictor of prior presidential elections.
For Mitt Romney, this is grim news indeed.
Though I’ve discussed the market’s ability to predict elections before, here’s a quick review:
When the stock market sported gains in the two months before the election, the incumbent was re-elected 15 of 16 times. Conversely, when the stock market declined during that time, the opposition won 10 of 12 races. The combined data, which InvesTech Research compiled, shows that the stock market predicted the next president a mind-blowing 25 of 28 times (89.2%).”"”"”"”"”"”"”
