I may as well bow to the reality that y’all will spend the entire weekend talking about the election regardless of what topic I write about, so here it is: Your weekend-before-the-election open thread.
The rules still apply — it’s an open thread, not a no-holds-barred thread — but otherwise, have at it.

Rev. Lowery, from the pulpit, told a racist joke about white people going to hell. While some have called him out on this, you may be sure the establishment press will essentially give him a free pass. For his part, Lowery has professed suprise that anyone would be offended by his remarks.
Imagine an elderly white, retired leader making a joke from the pulpit about all blacks going to hell. Do you think Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would ignore it? The establishment press? Absolutely not! They would come down with both feet on this white man.
This is what’s known as a double standard. It’s been around for some time now and is one of the reasons civil rights progress has not only come to a halt but is starting to go backwards. Many blacks know this but, hang on to their double standard “rights”. Why, you ask? Because these “rights” give them the opportunity to stick it to whitey, and not have to worry about whites having reciprocal rights.
So, the next time any of you complain about your “civil rights”, I will give your whining all the attention it truly deserves.

Feds, States Waive More Rules to Help Get Fuel to N.Y., N.J.
The federal government waived a shipping law and the states of New York and New Jersey waived fuel restrictions Friday as they ramped up efforts to quickly move diesel and gasoline supplies into the two states hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy.

I love it. An admission by the government that their own rules create inefficiencies and raise prices for American families.

You are right for once, a close example of what you are talking about is the ruckus raised with Trent Lott jokingly said of Strom Thurmond, on the eve of his retirement, that maybe America might be better off if Strom had won the Presidency in 1948. Strom had run as a Dixiecrat. It was said in humor and as somewhat of a complement for 100 year old Strom. The race pimps jumped on this and the bruha went on for weeks. It probably was a poorly thought out complement, but the fuss raised, far exceeded any harm.
Lowery wasn’t joking when he said white people were going to hell. He had made that comment before.

That’s just for Stimulus I. Let’s not forget Little Stimulus II, Cash for Clunkers, the GM bailout and various and sundry other spending bills touted to create jobs during Obama’s first term. CNN even estimated that total spending to create jobs was well over $2 trillion.

Basically, Romney thinks Americans are dumb.
‘How did you get your wealth?’ “We’ve given ‘you people’ enough of our tax returns.”
‘How are you going to balance the budget, while giving more tax cuts to the rich, and increasing military spending?’ “By eliminating tax deductions, but I’m not going to tell you which ones.”
‘How are you going to improve the economy?’ “I have a five point plan; you’ll like it when you see if after you elect me.”
Sorry, Mr. Romney, but a majority of Americans are likely smarter than you think we are.

“The weekend before Nov. 6, what else would we talk about,” asks Kyle.
For the cons on this blog the answer is obvious: To hurl worn out, pathetic insults on the President and make stupid comments they mistake for witticism so that they would not have to talk about Gov. Christie’s praise of the President.

Cherokee, in case you haven’t been paying attention, each and every pollster (while standing by the “accuracy” of their polls) have all stated they need to re-think the way they poll. Too few landlines are not representative of the electorate as we move to a cellular society. Not only that, early voting is skewing all the numbers, if they’re even included at all into the poll (a majority of them don’t use those numbers).
This is to say that it will be a minor miracle if ANYBODY’S polls are accurate following Tuesday’s election. Best bet is that one or two national polls will be with the margins, but state polls will be off considerably.
I will be disappointed if Obama wins re-election, but I won’t be surprised no matter who wins.

“It’ll all come out in the wash.”
That’s what this older gentleman used to tell me all the time. Especially when I told him about something that was worrying me.
Tuesday night “it’ll all come out in the wash” as Romney suffers a humiliating defeat. Then, he can go back to what he does best: shipping jobs to China a la Sensata Technologies. He can go back to hiding his money in offshore accounts to evade paying taxes. He can go back to not having to worry about releasing his tax returns. But, most of all, he can go back to not having to worry about making up the “correct” lies for whichever audience he happens to be addressing at the moment.
You cons can go back to trying to some other imbecile that you think has a minute chance of being elected by old white people by 2016. Good luck!

Big frikkin’ deal. You’re supposed to praise people who perform their duties (you also don’t bite the hand that is going to feed you, either), but don’t think for a moment Christie is voting for anybody but Mitt Romney.
