RNC 2012: Before Romney’s speech, campaign releases a bevy of Bain videos (see one here)

Hours before Mitt Romney takes the stage to accept the Republican presidential nomination, his campaign released nine new videos on YouTube about his successes in business. Could they represent a preview of the case he’ll make tonight? Here’s one of them, about that staple of shopping malls across the country: Brookstone.

A robust defense of his business career has been a long time coming. Will these help do the trick?

Well, we can put away the toys – the easy bake ovens, the Lite-Brites, and the unicorn dolls and move into the world of adults next week.

I hope you cons enjoyed your week cause it’s gonna be all whining until 2016.

The following were my follow-up remarks to my comments, above, which I posted on Jay Bookman’s blog at 9:27 am today:

“I want to express my ‘thank you’ to all of those who have appreciated my analysis of Romney’s speech (and thinking) around 3:00 am. Romney seems like a good family man to me who has loved his wife, children, and mother and father. However, as I have mentioned before on this blog, I do not think that he has Obama’s vision of the type of leadership that Obama wants America to foster in this world.

(For those who may want to read further on this – I think Obama’s leadership style is more in keeping with the values that George Washington, the father of our nation, tried to emulate for leaders of our nation to assume into posterity. I hope that some readers will explore these thoughts, which I developed in my own blog, ‘Mary Elizabeth Sings,’ December 26, 2010. See below for an excerpt from and link to that entry on my blog:

‘Are we wise enough to know that America’s first president, George Washington, by his example of deliberately relinquishing power, was modeling for posterity the role he desired for America’s leaders to emulate in the future? Will America acknowledge that all in the world are inherently equal? Will America and Americans lead others in seizing this budding egalitarian world consciousness through the choices we make? If America can lead others into the coming new age, in this new direction, then she, like her first president, will become a great leader through her grace of spirit and wisdom, rather than simply through her power.’) ”

Four years of 8-10% unemployment.
$1.5 trillion deficits every year.
Record numbers on the dole.
Fewer jobs today than at the beginning of the Obozo regime.
Lost our AAA credit rating.
$800 billion wasted on non-stimulus and union payoffs.
$50 billion owed by GM to taxpayers.

Republicans have made a cynical calculation. They believe they can keep repeating lies (despite fact checkers that call them out) and convince the ignorant, low information voter they’re telling the truth. Their entire convention was wrapped around lies and distortions–from taking the president’s comments out of context, to outright lying about Obama “raiding Medicare” and “taking work out of welfare.” They have to lie. Nobody’s buying their ideas otherwise. If they told the truth about how their policies will affect the middle class voter, they know they will lose. They even came out and said there will be no fact checking of what will be said at the convention. Now, let me repeat–Romney–release your tax records!

Complain, complain, complain…….and those investors are? Yep, teachers unions, retirment plans, police unions, firefighters unions, etc……basically our FUTURE income.

What is it with you people that don’t understand that we WANT corps to make huge profits…..we NEED corps to make huge profits. It is those profits that allow for jobs, income, gov’t, taxes, etc etc

What a Bleepin’ lie. Every year, a new round of people are let go, with the next round of layoffs coming after the election. Mr. Romney is a job destroyer.”

Okay back to the platform…..the republican platform supports the creation of a federal personhood law, which would outlaw all abortions and many forms contraception. It also opposes using public revenues to fund organizations that perform abortions………in other words Planned Parenthood. (It would also outlaw pregnancies resulting from rape, of which there are 32,000 annually.)

What the platform does not address is the fact that 40% of couples or single women that get pregnant are on Medicaid. They do not address this because they are not fiscal conservatives, they are religous conservatives. One can not be both.

A good example of this religious driven nonsense can be found in Mike Huckabee. When he was the governor of Arkansas a 15 year old retarded girl became pregnant as a result of being raped by her step-father. Alas abortion in not consisistent with Huckabees silly religious beliefs (the Bible is word-for-word true) and he used his position as governor to try an insure the retarded teen did have the child, and add yet another burden to already over-burdened taxpayers. Fortunately the courts applied reason and logic to the question instead of fundamentalist religious retardism and the pregnancy was terminated. (Huckabee is a former Southern Baptist minister, a former member of the ecclesiastical establishment.)

“Ecclesiastical establishments tend to great ignorance and corruption, all of which facilitate the execution of mischievous projects.” James Madison, 1774.

Mary Elizabeth, you really shouldn’t be writing things at 3:00 in the morning. Your thought processes are not very good on a more normal time, but they are REALLY out of whack at 3:00 am.

“I must point out much duplicity, and some arrogance, within Romney’s speech. See below:

(1) Romney: “This is when our nation was supposed to start paying down the national debt and rolling back those massive deficits.”

(A 14 Trillion Dollar Debt as of July, 2011, with only 1 and 1/2 Trillion because of Obama’s policies – according to Bruce Bartlett, Dep. Secy. of Treasury, under President George H.W. Bush)”

You want duplicitous, Mary Elizabeth? EVERY dollar spent under Obama, regardless of whether it was a result of “his policies”, is a dollar he’s responsible for. You see, he can’t say (nor can that idiot Bartlett) “Sorry, those dollars I didn’t cut aren’t on my watch”.
—————————————————————————

“(2) Romney: “And I don’t doubt for a second that Neil Armstrong’s spirit is still with us: that unique blend of optimism, humility and the utter confidence that when the world needs someone to do the really big stuff, you need an American.”

(Double Meaning Intended. Romney misses entirely the arrogance – and irony – of his statement, framed around the word, “humility.” I don’t think Americans are the only people in this world who can do something “really big.” That is simply arrogance.”

No, Mary Elizabeth, that is a REALITY. And it’s only a birther remark if you are looking for troll chow this morning. The problem isn’t that Americans think we are exceptional, Mary Elizabeth; it’s that not ENOUGH Americans believe it. (Like you)
————————————————————————

“(3) Romney: “He took office without the basic qualification that most Americans have and one that was essential to his task. He had almost no experience working in a business. Jobs to him are about government.”

(That statement shows blatantly Romney’s hierarchial view of human beings. Romney implies that “government jobs” are less valuable than “business jobs.” I do not perceive that service-oriented jobs, such as teaching, have less value than jobs in business.)”

Sorry, Mary Elizabeth, but if you’re hired to create jobs and get an economy moving, the basic qualifications are that you should have been successful creating jobs and know what runs an economy. Obama was, and remains, clueless about both. And as usual, you read far more into the comment that Romney intended, just because you want to be offended no matter what he says.
———————————————————————

“(4) Romney: “President Obama promised to begin to slow the rise of the oceans and heal the planet. MY promise…is to help you and your family.”

(Romney mocks science, climate change, and conservation of the Earth’s natural resources.”

Actually, no, he doesn’t. Despite the MSNBC talking points of Chris Matthews, Romney is deriding the majesty of how Obama perceives himself. Romney points out, rightly, that Obama is so obsessed with his own image of world savior, that he forgot to focus on the important things – like leading this nation and fixing the problems at home first.
——————————————————————–

“(5) Romney: “And does the America we want succumb to resentment and division? We know the answer.”

(Yes, we do know the answer. As Sen.Mitch McConnell said years ago, “Our (Republican) goal is to make sure that Barack Obama is a one-term president.”)”

And yet, for some reason, Mitt Romney isn’t Mitch McConnell. Go figure.
——————————————————-

“(6) Romney: “And let me make this very clear – unlike President Obama, I will not raise taxes on the middle class.” “Today more Americans wake up in poverty than ever before. Nearly one out of six Americans is living in poverty. Look around you. These are not strangers. These are our brothers and sisters, our fellow Americans.”

(Totally duplicitous. Republicans have not attempted to create programs to help those in poverty, and their policies have hurt the middle class. Anyone who seriously believes Romney is looking out for the interests of the middle class, or for the poor, is fooling him or herself.”

A rising tide lifts all boats, Mary Elizabeth. Romney doesn’t believe in creating new programs that will fail like all the old programs created to help people out of poverty. The ONLY thing that gets people out of poverty are jobs, Mary Elizabeth. Something Mitt Romney knows how to create, and Obama does not.
——————————————————————

“(7) Romney: “The President has disappointed America because he hasn’t led America in the right direction.”

President Obama has led this nation out of a near Depression;”

Not really. It was heading that way before he took office.

“he has achieved a health care program for all;”

Not even close to all”

“he is not trying to dismantle Medicare and Social Security,”

Please provide the specific plans that Romney has proposed that do this.

“and he is creating a more egalitarian nation and world.”

He’s the President of the United States, NOT the world. maybe if he’d focus on that a bit more, he might have a better chance of re-election.

“I would say that President Obama is leading America in exactly the right direction, which Gov. Romney has little sensitivity toward, or understanding of.”

I was unaware that plunging off a cliff is the right direction. But you keep thinking that way, Mary Elizabeth. :roll:

What was not mentioned at this GOP PR stunt in Tampa:

1. Romneys’ offshore accounts and possible tax evasion;
2. Romney care
3.Unfunded Medicare Part D passed by the GOP and costing possibly over a trillion dollars in ten years
4. Medicare Advantage giving huge Medicare dollars to private insurers and free gym memberships passed by the GOPand Ryan under Bush and cut back by Obama;
5.Bain Capital lunder Romney shipping jobs overseas starting in the mid nineties and continuing right now in Freeport Illinois where they just closed a plant
6. Tax credits for companies that relocate overseas;
7.GOP fillibustering two bills to eliminate that relocation tax credit and credits for companies bringing jobs back;
8. the 38 anti-abortion bills passed by Aiken and Ryan;
9. GOP swearing allegiance to Grover Norquist instead of the Constitution;
10. That 716 billion dollars Obama allegedly stole from Medicare being cost savings agreed by providers which the Affordable Care Act funnels pack into new Medicare benefits and covering unfunded Medicare part D
11. The ongoing mess Bush got us into in Afghanistan and thousands of soldiers who were killed and maimed due to GOP blunders;
12. Condi and Bush forcing Israel to turn over Gaza to Hamas and kick Israelis out of their homes
13. Obama going to Sderot and putting himself in harm’s way of Hamas missles in 2008 while Romney only went to raise cash at a fundraiser in Jerusalem and some photo ops;
14. Our banking industry and auto industry being rescued by Obama;
15. Worst terrorist attack on civilians ever under Bush due to incompetence and none under Obama and
16. socialist medical care in hospitals passed by Reagan being funded by individual mandates under Obama.

Yes lets have some speechst on these topics The lies, half truths and self adulation were nauseating for the above ommisions. And no mention of the troops dying every day for all of us.
