RNC 2012: Before Romney’s speech, campaign releases a bevy of Bain videos (see one here)

Hours before Mitt Romney takes the stage to accept the Republican presidential nomination, his campaign released nine new videos on YouTube about his successes in business. Could they represent a preview of the case he’ll make tonight? Here’s one of them, about that staple of shopping malls across the country: Brookstone.

A robust defense of his business career has been a long time coming. Will these help do the trick?

I don’t see any women and children getting health care, just the HOPE of that in the future. Mitt actually put it into ACTION in Mass. when he was governor! And what money has Obama spent on Americans? And where can I get some to save the house I bought that continues to lose money?

======================================================================

That’s not the point. The point is that if you look at typical Democratic conventions, you see a fair representation of Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans, etc… MORE SO than Republican conventions which usually tend to be overwhelming blonds, brunettes, and red-heads.
I must say this RNC Convention is an improvement over the one held in 2008, though.

Race is AN issue with Republicans and anyone who denies it is living on a different planet.
Not that the Dems are entirely pure but race is a far more bigger issue in the Republican Party.

For example, SINCE Reconstruction, how many Black Republicans have been ELECTED into the House and Senate of the US Congress compared to the Black Dems? There is the elephant in the room, but they WILL ALWAYS deny reality and use Blacks and other minorities as puns when they have to but get rid of them when the “right” White boy is ready. Look at what they did to Michael Steele… LoL !

Sad you think that way, hsn, because:

A: it’s not reality, and

Now, if you want a party that takes minorities for granted, without providing anything but empty promises and no results, look no farther than the Democrat Party.

There ya go !!! You proved my point. Tell them the obvious truth that was live and colored and they WILL DENY it. Instead of answering a simple question vis-a-vis number of Black ELECTED House and Senate members for the two parties SINCE Reconstruction, the first thing you did was to DENY and insult me. BTW, “Denial” is a river in Egypt. :) :) :) ….

“Instead of answering a simple question vis-a-vis number of Black ELECTED House and Senate members for the two parties SINCE Reconstruction,”

Because it is an idiotic question that has no meaning, hsn.

It doesn’t say ANYTHING about how Republicans treat or value minorities, hsn; it has everything to do with how minorities value the GOP.

If a political party isn’t going to give you free stuff, why would you vote for them?

==================================================

You can’t help yourself, can you? Re-read what you wrote c.a.r.e.f.u.l.l.y….

Contrary to Republicans lies, minorities don’t mainly vote for the Dems because they are “lazy” and want “free stuff.” Aaah… So, only, if minorities will be “hardworking” and “reject” all “free” stuff as Whites do, then maybe, just maybe, they will be welcome in large numbers in the Republican Party?

Wow… so is your logic suggesting that, by nature the Republican Party just happens to attract more White people because White people “hate” to be given something for free while Minorities just can’t get enough “free” stuff?

You see, “that thought” has been so ingrained inside of you cons that you don’t even realize you are validating my charge that the big ELEPHANT within the Republican Party is race. Maybe Minorities hate to be labelled with such racial stereotypes? That is why they DO NOT VALUE the GOP in large numbers, not because they want “free” stuff?

hsn, why would ANYBODY vote for the Democrats / liberal Party?

Because they promise government will take care of them. I can’t help it if the majority of blacks vote for security over freedom. That is THEIR problem, but it is not the Republican’s problem.

The Republicans are who they are, and they don’t pander to any group based on skin color in order to get their vote. They are just not that shallow (as you seem to be).

hsn, you need to go back to history class–black legislators have been an important part of the Republican landscape since just after the Civil War. In Georgia alone, 68 black men were elected to help reconstruct the South at both the national and local level.

And they were Republicans, following the party of Abraham Lincoln. Black men and women continue to get voted into Congress from both parties. And you need to at least google your ‘facts’ before you start spouting off that racial crap.

Expecting the usual anti-Romney attacks from those who couldn’t be bothered to listen and watch last night, but after the convention, thought I’d put together a little comparison between Obama and Romney.

Obama – Nice, open guy who centers things around himself (how many times do you hear “I” coming out of his speeches?)

Romney – Nice, reserved guy who prefers to have his role in an accomplishment kept quiet. The people who were helped know, and that’s all he cares about.

Obama – the guy you can sit down with and have a drink and toke.

Romney – doesn’t drink or smoke anything.

Obama – successful in getting elected to higher government positions.

Romney – successful at everything that matters.

Obama – wants to lower the seas and heal the planet.

Romney – wants to help Americans get back to work.

Obama – when faced with the biggest challenge of his life – failed to lead (but doesn’t fail to tell you who else was to blame).

Romney – just leads. Humbly, quietly, and effectively.

Nobody knows that 716 billion is being fumnneled back to Seniors in new benefits. But that is through Obamacare. Just mention that Obamacare and those elederly go running to change their diapers. Not one word at the whole convention about Romneycare as Mitt’s signature accomplishment as governor and how it has cost US taxpayers 8 and half billion in excess Medicaid.. I’m looking at the Republican party platform here….Education: Republicans support consumer choice including home schooling, single-sex classes and year-round schooling. Republicans call for replacing family planning programs for teens with abstinence-only education until marriage…oh yeah this is going to be a huge winner. You bet, this is going to bring voters out in droves. Although they did forget to bash Charles Darwin and the theory of evolution. But there’s always 2016.

Below are my thoughts regarding Gov. Romney’s speech which I posted on Jay Bookman’s blog this morning at 3:08 am:

“I must point out much duplicity, and some arrogance, within Romney’s speech. See below:

(1) Romney: “This is when our nation was supposed to start paying down the national debt and rolling back those massive deficits.”

(A 14 Trillion Dollar Debt as of July, 2011, with only 1 and 1/2 Trillion because of Obama’s policies – according to Bruce Bartlett, Dep. Secy. of Treasury, under President George H.W. Bush)
—————————————————————————–

(2) Romney: “And I don’t doubt for a second that Neil Armstrong’s spirit is still with us: that unique blend of optimism, humility and the utter confidence that when the world needs someone to do the really big stuff, you need an American.”

(Double Meaning Intended. Romney misses entirely the arrogance – and irony – of his statement, framed around the word, “humility.” I don’t think Americans are the only people in this world who can do something “really big.” That is simply arrogance. Why not build commonalities and collaboration with others on this globe, instead of continuing to perpetuate the hierarchial mindset of American superiority? Other meaning: A nuanced toss to the Birthers, i.e., Obama is not really “an American.”)
————————————————————————

(3) Romney: “He took office without the basic qualification that most Americans have and one that was essential to his task. He had almost no experience working in a business. Jobs to him are about government.”

(That statement shows blatantly Romney’s hierarchial view of human beings. Romney implies that “government jobs” are less valuable than “business jobs.” I do not perceive that service-oriented jobs, such as teaching, have less value than jobs in business.)
———————————————————————

(4) Romney: “President Obama promised to begin to slow the rise of the oceans and heal the planet. MY promise…is to help you and your family.”

(Romney mocks science, climate change, and conservation of the Earth’s natural resources. Romney’s values do not embrace all of mine. I believe all people on the planet share a common interest in being caretakers, together, of our environment; we are not simply interested in ourselves and our own families. Human beings can encompass, and develop, commonality and common interests with all others on the planet, as well as safeguard their own self-interests.)
——————————————————————–

(5) Romney: “And does the America we want succumb to resentment and division? We know the answer.”

(Yes, we do know the answer. As Sen.Mitch McConnell said years ago, “Our (Republican) goal is to make sure that Barack Obama is a one-term president.”)
——————————————————-

(6) Romney: “And let me make this very clear – unlike President Obama, I will not raise taxes on the middle class.” “Today more Americans wake up in poverty than ever before. Nearly one out of six Americans is living in poverty. Look around you. These are not strangers. These are our brothers and sisters, our fellow Americans.”

(Totally duplicitous. Republicans have not attempted to create programs to help those in poverty, and their policies have hurt the middle class. Anyone who seriously believes Romney is looking out for the interests of the middle class, or for the poor, is fooling him or herself. Romney’s interests are with big business.)
——————————————————————

(7) Romney: “The President has disappointed America because he hasn’t led America in the right direction.”

President Obama has led this nation out of a near Depression; he has achieved a health care program for all; he is not trying to dismantle Medicare and Social Security, and he is creating a more egalitarian nation and world. I would say that President Obama is leading America in exactly the right direction, which Gov. Romney has little sensitivity toward, or understanding of.

- – – – – – – – – – – -

There are many more duplicitous statements in Romney’s speech. One was his stating that President Obama’s does not value “success.” President Obama’s life story has been one of success. And, it was not the Obama economy that “crushed the middle class,” as Romney said, but the Bush administration’s policies of cutting taxes and starting wars which ran up the deficit (and that, also, encouraged cuts to “entitlements”) and that culminated in the Great Recession, which has “crushed the middle class.”
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
