‘Somebody else’ and Obama’s concept of how the world works

A pair of four-word phrases are proving unshakable for the Obama campaign.

The first is a line Obama actually spoke last month in Virginia: “You didn’t build that.” The second is the implication in a new advertisement by Obama’s super PAC that attacks Mitt Romney’s corporate past: Romney killed a lady.

Taken together, they reflect the president’s apparent belief that the good things as well as the bad things in our lives — success and failure, joy and tragedy, growth and death — are the products of forces beyond our control that only government can bring to heel. Unless you’re rich, in which case you didn’t do the good things in your life, just the bad things in others’.

“You didn’t build that” has been making the rounds for weeks now. The full line — “If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that” — came amid a laundry list of ways in which, according to Obama, the successful should play down their own success. It wasn’t because you were smart or hard-working; Obama said “a lot of smart people,” a “whole bunch of hard-working people” weren’t so rewarded. Chalk it up to “a great teacher … this unbelievable American system … roads and bridges … government research [that] created the Internet.”

In short: “Somebody else made that happen.”

The speech resonated with the public, but not the way Obama intended. It resonated negatively, and not because successful people don’t acknowledge those who helped them along the way. Of course they do.

It resonated negatively because Obama focused exclusively on the collective. No acknowledgments of the ways successful people differentiate themselves, much less the government-imposed obstacles many of them overcome. Just a brief nod to “individual initiative” while bowing to the greater number of things “we do … together.”

It resonated negatively with a public that has become accustomed to hearing Obama talk about success almost always in the passive voice: It happens to people “who’ve been most fortunate” and who “have been incredibly blessed.” By, one can only guess, “somebody else.”

The attack on Romney is fresher. It arose in a video ad by Obama’s super PAC, in which a man who once worked for a company bought by Romney’s Bain Capital essentially blames Romney for his wife’s death from cancer.

Camera 1 ...

... Camera 2

The man, Joe Soptic, worked for GST Steel in Kansas City, which Bain bought in 1993. In 1999, Romney left Bain. In 2001, GST Steel closed its doors and Soptic lost his job and his health insurance. “A short time ater that,” Soptic says in the video, his wife was diagnosed with late-stage cancer. She died within weeks.

It’s a tragic story, but the ad omits a few details. First, that Soptic’s wife still had a job and health insurance until 2002 or 2003. Second, that her diagnosis and death were in 2006, five years after Soptic lost his job.

Amazingly, the ad isn’t even an attempt to justify Obamacare. It’s just a crude attempt to put blood on Romney’s hands.

Although an Obama spokeswoman initially denied knowing Soptic’s story, claiming the campaign is insulated from the super PAC, a recording of a conference call from this spring reveals the very same spokeswoman talking with Soptic about his story. The Obama campaign has also run its own ad with Soptic, depicting him wearing the very same shirt (see photos on left).

But maybe we shouldn’t blame her or the campaign for that little fib. After all, in Obama’s America, only the super-successful could be responsible for something bad. Somebody else, I’m sure, made that happen.

I’m not all that impressed with the two commercials above. But as for how Obama’s “You didn’t build that” line has gone viral, it’s mainly because most folks never got to hear the entire speech. In context it really speaks to how great it is to be an American. Jon Stewart probably rebuffed this best, and Fox News perverted it the worst.

And regarding the otherwise heavily slanted commercials, the best part was the response by Mitt Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul. Saul said on Fox News that if the Soptics had lived in Massachusetts, they wouldn’t have lost their health insurance. “To that point, if people had been in Massachusetts, under Governor Romney’s healthcare plan, they would have had healthcare,” Nothing wrong with the statement, but it was amusing to see and hear the conservative backlash. Apparently reminding folks that Romneycare and by the transitive property Obamacare would actually help people and save lives is a taboo topic.

Thank you, Beyond for pointing out the fact that the statement was completely pulled out of context. I’m surprised you didn’t research that, Kyle. What’s worst is it’s pretty obvious!!!

As for the death of Ms. Soptic, tragic. Now to attack the reasoning you righties are yapping about. There STILL is no proof to refute that Mitt was not serving as CEO of Bain. Plenty of documents, required legal filing, et al., showing Mitt as the head of Bain. Therefore, Bain’s closing of the plant, knocked the Soptics of the healthcare plan which was what was serving the now deceased Ms. Soptic. The rationale most Americans get, that would be working and now unemployed Americans, the current healthcare system is stacked against the common American. If you are not receiving medical benefits from your employer, it is rare that an individual could afford healthcare on their own. Its cost prohibitive. It’s the Hope and Pray Healthcare plan, I hope and pray NO ONE or I get sick!! That’s the reality. And since mr. Soptic lost his job and along with it his benefits, and retirement benefits. Something that he and millions of other AMERICANS work for to support and provide for their families. All that American ingenuity, OUTSOURCED. So as a result of NO BENEFITS, how the heck were they to pay? Guess this is an argument for single payer, too.

That commercial was in context, and in real time.

Oh, the (former?) aid to Mitt stated that if this had occurred in Massachusetts, she would probably still be alive because of ROMNEYCARE!!!

So why are you GOP’ers trippin’? HEALTHCARE SINGLEPAYER IS A GOOD THING FOR EVERYONE!!! That alone seals the fate of your Presidential run this cycle….

Well, to me the most damning comments on the Soptic saga are his own comments:

“JOE SOPTIC: Well, I guess the first thing I noticed after the company was bought out by GST, they became very union-non-friendly. I mean, they started looking for ways to eliminate jobs. In my case, in my department, they actually offered to buy our jobs out from underneath us.”

Isn’t that something……he obviously declined the buyout……and now it’s somebody else’s fault.

If josef stops by, I wanted to mention that I’ve been doing some more studying about the story of Job. Most likely it is a composite story composed between the 7th and 4th centuries BC, although it has antecedents from other traditions dating all the way back to the 11th century BC. It still remains fascinating to us all these years later due to its core theodical question: If God is both righteous and all-powerful, why does He allow good people to suffer??

One of the keys to understanding Job lies in the translation of a key phrase in Chapter 13, verse 15. which is traditionally rendered “”Though he kill me, yet I will trust in him”. Other Hebrew linguists have alternatively translated this passage to say “See, he will kill me, I have no hope.”, or “Yes, he may slay me; I shall not be quiet.”

Similarly, the New Oxford Annotated Bible renders chapter 19:25-26 as “I know that my redeemer lives, and that at the last he will stand upon the earth, and after my skin has been thus destroyed, then in my flesh I shall see God.” But, “redeemer” could also be translated as “vindicator”, “in my flesh” could read “without my flesh”, and the meaning of the traditionally translated Hebrew phrase “I shall see God” is uncertain.

Thus, in the end, the Story of Job raises more questions than it answers, which is perhaps how it should be.

_____________________________________________________________________________

God knows that there are hundreds of millions of people who, are in pain every day, be it physical, emotional, or mental. God sees the 800 million people who go to bed hungry every night, the millions of others who suffer from domestic violence, and the many parents who fret about the future and the welfare of their children. Have you ever wondered whether God will take action? Surely, since we want to help our loved ones, would not God want to help the human family, his creation?

God’s Kingdom will remedy any suffering we may have experienced

FOOD FOR ALL:
“There will come to be plenty of grain on the earth; on the top of the mountains there will be an overflow.”—Psalm 72:16.

SICKNESS WILL BE NO MORE:
“No resident will say: ‘I am sick.’”—Isaiah 33:24.

WICKED PEOPLE WILL BE GONE:
“As regards the wicked, they will be cut off from the very earth; and as for the treacherous, they will be torn away from it.”—Proverbs 2:22.

But then again, that 4 letter word makes ALL the difference in the world, which is of course why it is so important for Kyle and people on his side to EXCLUDE it. It helps to keep people stupid doing it that way. Go ahead Kyle, be BOLD. Be BRAVE, put the four letter word into your article to correct it. Have you ever wondered whether God will take action? Surely, since we want to help our loved ones, would not God want to help the human family, his creation?

Myth–I think the deepest revelation of “God’s Ways” is found in his return question to Job after Job challenges God’s actions: “Where were you when I laid the foundation for the earth??” This passage can be understood in a few ways. First and foremost, it highlights the fact that we, as insignificant humans, are too small to understand the ways of the Creator. Yet, it doesn’t completely clarify God’s position in the world either. There appears to be some implication that suffering is an unavoidable part of the Creation, that it is inevitable. Yet, if God is truly omnipotent, He could simply change the rules of the game. On the other hand, if God is all-powerful and permits undeserved suffering, then He is not just.

Scriptures That Point to a Bright Future

And while I’m glad your obviously cut-n-pasted Scriptural response points toward a bright future for us all, it’s kind of hard to ignore a few hundred thousand years of suffering up til now.

BTW, in case Kyle thinks I’m going off-topic too quickly, I will respond by saying that the Story of Job is a very appropriate answer to this Joe Soptic farce backed by Obama. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. Obama and the Dems aren’t God, though they apparently think themselves as being God-like with their false promises that they will cure all of society’s ills if we will simply give them unlimited power.

Regardless of obamacare the illegals are getting treated in emergency rooms, etc. The freebies have to stop and we must begin to run the country on a “work rather than freeload” basis again. Bruno,

As usual, you lke to make things complicated so you can figure them out. I make things simple and clear as I can and then figure them out.

The story of the first garden with Adam and Eve tells us that they broke the rules God had given them (don’t eat the apple). They lived but had hard rules to face. Among their losses was eternal life and an easy life before death..

When I wrote a play drawn from the book of Job, the first situation was a talk between Satan and God. God said Job was a good man who would never stop loving and obeying him. Satan said that God just liked Job and Job was just as weak as everybody else. So God offered to put Job to a test.

Thus began the trials of Job, everything from loss of family, health, and all that he owned. Job’s wife and friends told him he had sinned and God was punishing him. But Job would not turn away from God because of all his difficulties. God & Job had great arguments in Job’s distress but Job remained faithful.

Just as God had known, Job never lost his faith in the Almighty and the Devil lost his argument. Job acquired all that he had lost and lived to be a rich old man.

Now that’s the simple version without all the intricate details and the beautiful language. For me, that helps with the understanding. I”m sure it is not enough for you.

As to my “play”. it was an exercise by non-actors in which I hoped to get them interested in a closer study of Job. It was kinda fun in a casual atmosphere. I hope you get great understanding in your study. Reading Job in the Bible gives you the best approach. The pure words are better to follow than someone’s book.

I thought of the book because of your post about Job’s travails, which I found very interesting. I knew there had to be more to that story than what I read in the bible. I remember thinking, “Seriously?” Anyway, do read it; I used to keep several copies on hand to give to friends in need & I recommended it to Midori when she lost her daughter. If you do read it, I hope you will let me know what you think. I mostly hang out at Jay’s but will check back here. Hmmm, what has to happen for Kyle to give you my email address?

Now that’s the simple version without all the intricate details and the beautiful language. For me, that helps with the understanding. I”m sure it is not enough for you.

Sister Dusty–You know me too well, and I know you too well. ;-)

The story of the first garden with Adam and Eve tells us that they broke the rules God had given them (don’t eat the apple). They lived but had hard rules to face. Among their losses was eternal life and an easy life before death.

Though the story of Adam and Eve is traditionally presented as story of something lost , I prefer to see it as a story of something gained . In a nutshell, God made us in his own image. As such, it was preordained that we share the power of moral discernment with the Creator, i.e. the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Otherwise, we would be no different from a squirrel, which acts strictly upon instinct. Of course, such Knowledge comes with consequences, such as the awareness of our nakedness, of our own mortality. But, the most important point is that the eating of the fruit was pre-ordained. It wasn’t a mistake.

God said Job was a good man who would never stop loving and obeying him. Satan said that God just liked Job and Job was just as weak as everybody else. So God offered to put Job to a test.

Technically speaking, Dusty, the “test of faith” is not God’s idea, it is “Ha-satan’s” idea, the “Accuser’s” idea. God simply gives permission for “The Accuser” to test Job. A subtle, yet important point. By the middle of the Book, however, the focus changes significantly from the testing of Job by Satan to a questioning of the reason and justification of evil by Job. IMO, this is what makes the Story of Job so fascinating. Just as interestingly, the Buddhist concept of karma figures prominently in the story as well, with Job’s friends theorizing that Job or his children must have sinned to bring such a terrible fate to themselves. In other words, they take Job’s suffering as evidence that he must be guilty of some kind of sin since God only punishes the sinful.

Job acquired all that he had lost and lived to be a rich old man.

Not so sure I completely agree with you here, Dusty. Can one’s dead children ever truly be “replaced”?? I still don’t see the story as simply as you do…..

11 Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. 12 It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” 14 No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.

That’s just it, BRUNO

You get to piddling with the details such as who instigated the testing of Job. The whole story was one of strong faith and explained in great detail. Also, the Buddist had nothing on the story of Job that Job’s friends did not exemplify. The “friends” & wife consistently told Job he was being punished for sin when he said steadfastly that he had not sinned. So the Buddist, like everyone else, decided this HAD to be punishment. Even trying to implicate Job’s children but this was not a story of Job’s children but Job alone.

But that goes to prove the point of faith. JOb KNEW he had not sinned and did not understand his suffering but he knew it could not be punishment. So he did not lose his faith in God even if he did not understand.

As to replacement, I believe replace means to put in place what has been removed. It does not signify whether by happiness or unhappiness. It just means Job had a family once again.

I”m afraid you are looking for “loopholes” to justify your lack of belief. But faith means belief beyond our understanding. As you well know, it takes a strong faith to overcome the “loopholes” and tragedies of life. Job had it.

When I looked in the mirror, I saw what was standing in my way…between he and I. It was me…my reflection. Once I realized that, Satan was no longer behind me. God was in front of me, leading the way.

Old timer,

The economy is better off than 4 years ago 2008 which in which case we were in fact in a recession and bleeding jobs. Now if you ask is the economy doing better than 6-10 years ago then that’s a whole different story. In terms of unemployment and growth the empirical evidence is clear- we were better off during the W years except for the last 2 years when the recession hit.

“The speech resonated with the public, but not the way Obama intended. It resonated negatively,”

Maybe with a minority but not with the majority.

Obama is still ahead in the realcclearpolitics poll average and in 10 of 12 “battleground” state polls. This is not the issue. And writing columns about it will not make it the issue. The “choir” agrees with Kyle, but the choir is only 47% of the vote.
.
The issue is Romney and his taxes and offshore millions in offshore bank accounts. And he keeps on keeping them secret. Until he releases the tax returns he is on track for a November defeat.

Today the election is about Romney and not about the Obama record. That in itself is a stunning development.

The economy may be better some places and for some folks but it’s not gotten any better in my neck of the woods and probably isn’t going to, anytime soon.

Funny thing, though, those folks that were using the local banks as personal piggy banks for them and their developer buddies, oh they’ve taken a bit of a hit, but they’ve all still got their big houses and are driving their MB’s. The banks bellied up and a whole lot of the little people lost out. I guess that’s the way the world works.

The only way the “problem kids” on an open blog can be dealt with is the “good kids” possessing the ability to ignore them. Imposed “rules” by a host only feed to the “problem kids” and their ability to control the blog especially when the host lacks the resolve to actually enforce the supposed rules. That’s a valid point. On every one of these blogs, though, it seems like only half the equation gets booted. The ones who egg the offender on, always seem to skate. But it’s not my house, so it ain’t up to me.

Dusty

There’s always one thing that’s stuck in my craw about Zell, back the first time he ran for Lt Gov (and this can be verified by looking at newspapers of the time), he said Lt Gov was a useless office and if elected, he’d have the office abolished. So what did he do? He spent 4 terms, 16 years in that office and building himself a springboard for higher office.

As far as gambling, I’m not going to partake in it but if they’re going to have it, I don’t think the government should be involved in it. It’ll always end up like the lottery, they’ll spend every dime they take in and if the income increases, they’ll find a way to spend every bit of the increase. But nothing lasts forever and sooner or later, the income goes down for whatever reason. Then they’re screwed and guess who pays for it.

They never read about the 7 years of plenty and the 7 years of famine, I reckon.

Obama’s comments about “you didn’t make that all by yourself” was taken out of context and you know it, Kyle. Fact is–no one makes it entirely on his/her own and that’s a fact. Try and dispute that. People who think they “made it” all on their own are truly conceited. They have no gratitude.
As far as the Joe Soptic commercial, it is a fact that he lost his job because of Bain Capital, with Romney at the helm whether he denies that fact or not. The man lost his insurance. That’s devastating. His wife had insurance from her employer and then lost that. She died without insurance. That is a fact. That is also a shame because no American should be dependent on having a job that has insurance in order to get health care for a serious illness. Americans should be able to get treatment for serious things like having a heart attack or stroke, or getting cancer–all without losing their homes if the insurance company decides not to pay enough. It’s a sick mind and soul that wants to deny people health care and the ability to get affordable health insurance. Joe Soptic simply told how he feels about losing his job and health insurance and then losing his wife.

“People who are self employed, or Public sector employees like teachers, firefighters, police officers and other law enforcement (FBI, CIA…MILITARY PERSONNEL) DID NOT pay for that same infrastructure??”

I never said that they do not pay for some of that same infrastructure. They do. They give back a % of their salary in taxes but nowhere near enough to pay for themselves. But the rest of their salaries, their benefits, etc have to be financed by other taxpayers. Surely you knew this.

As for the rest of your angry rant you sure seem to be heavy on blanket statements about conservatives and short on facts.

“Public sector employees pay the SAME taxes any PRIVATE SECTOR employee BASED ON THEIR ANNUAL ADJUSTED INCOME! ”

I understand that. We all do. That you think this is somehow enlightening is quite bizarre. I’ll repeat this again very slowly so that maybe you will understand. Public employees entire salaries and the equipment they work with has to be paid for. The public employees themselves help pay for it partly through their own taxes. So 20% or higher or maybe lower of what they earn goes right back into the pool to help pay for govt services. What I am saying is that the rest of that public employees salary and benefits have to be paid for by everyone else.

And put aside the hate for a moment. No one is getting down on public employees. They provide needed services such as fire and police protection and educating our kids. Being a govt worker doesn’t make you sorry or lazy or bad or anything like that. You’re completely missing the point. The point is that the more unnecessary govt programs and non essential bureaucracy that we have the more of an overall burden you’re putting on the private sector to pay for those programs and the administering of them. Its not about hating public employees dude. Its about what we can reasonably afford. And for what its worth my mom retired from the state of Alabama, one brother is an accountant who works for the state, and my older brother is a lieutenant colonel in the Army- all govt employees. I do not hate or look down on my own family for working for the govt.

Here’s one for those in the governmental know to consider…. If the 17th Amendment was repealed, meaning U.S. Senators would no longer be elected by a popular vote and returned to being elected by State legislators, do you think any unfunded federal mandates could ever make it into law?

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has picked Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan to be his running mate, according to a Republican with knowledge of the development. They will appear together Saturday in Norfolk, Va., at the start of a four-state bus tour to introduce the newly minted GOP ticket to the nation.

I’ll feel great deal better when this is made official. Only Rubio could have brought an equal recognition to the ticket. However, I doubt notwithstanding personal favoritism of him and his energetic charisma that Rubio can equal Ryan’s economic wisdom.

In short, Real Americans understand that Obozo is a fascist.

He started with, ” I am always amazed when someone says I must have been smarter” Really, what biz owner has come up to you and said, I am successful because I am smarter then everyone else ? Obama then tells us that we have alot of smart people. So he is telling biz owners they are not smaeter than the rest so they must be lucky. He says the same about working harder by telling biz owners they do not work harder than others. So Obama’s little rant was bashing biz owners and even without the you didn’t build that line was anti biz. For those that think Obo is right, show us an example of someone being smarter than Bill Gates when it comes to windows. When you say “resonated” you must defined that comment. Yes the rich noticed the comments like a pitcher on steroids winning 20 games notice someone calling him a cheat. But the poor guy playing it straight never seeing daylight just trying to compete, like the little store owner squeezed out by Walmart or the gal who can’t get her community bank to lend her money for a business after the Republican bail out of banks like they have an agenda they don’t get to compete it “resonates” too. Now with the present administration always apologizing to other countries and trying to become a socialist nation like Europe our country is no longer respected or admired. This administration must reflect the views of a lot of voters who did not grow up when America was great. Voters who are much more liberal and whose morals do not match those of the WW II era. I had hoped we could defeat Obama. The emails I have received these past three years seem to indicate he could never win but now polls show him ahead 7 points. Weird how Obama’s carefully-planned agenda didn’t factor their odd relationship. And of course, Obama’s relationship with that nasty racist Hillary Clinton (or at least that’s how he saw her during the primaries as he walked over her campaign’s carcass).

But roll the tape back to Bush, we love going back to Bush right? Remember “MIssion Accomplished”? Who was that banner for? The president? Nope. It was for the ship. They were heading home, their mission was accomplished. Instead their pride was twisted to be used as toilet paper with GW’s face printed on it. Romney created Bain, Bain does horrible stuff, without the creation this vehicle would not have been in the area to do what it did. The buck stops at Romney, he is responsible. He only wants the good image from Bain and apparently the thing went to hell after he left. How convenient. If, on the other hand, you feel that the interests of America are better served when everyone has an equal shot at success, when the country sacrifices together to solve our financial problems, when we do not involve ourselves in costly and needless wars in places like Iran, I would encourage you to consider a vote for Mr. Obama.

Taken together, they reflect the president’s apparent belief that the good things as well as the bad things in our lives — success and failure, joy and tragedy, growth and death — are the products of forces beyond our control that only government can bring to heel

Surely you’ll acknowledge, Kyle, that what this debate really is about or should be about – Obama’s relative articulateness or inarticulateness aside – is the vulnerability of the less fortunate and less powerful in this country to the vicissitudes of life: a serious illness or health condition being one of the major ones. And in an economy where productivity has grown steadily while wages have stagnated for the vast majority, it’s reasonable to ask: just why is this country the only major industrialized country in the world without some form of universal health coverage?

That glaring fact could at least be somewhat justified, arguably, while there was some hope of the economy continuing on an indefinite expansive course out into the future, but now that the fruits of the ruthless dismantling of older social democratic mixed-model strictures and a hyper-marketization of everything are on display for all to see, I think that argument becomes quite apparent in all its cruelty.

So for you to wrench the discussion out of that, its proper context and try to paint this as being about “government”, is a bit disingenuous. Of course, Obama is also partly to blame here for not going a crucial step further and emphasizing the fact that these questions have nothing at all to do with being pro- or anti- “big government”. Everyone is in favor of the government that favors their group’s interests. Big business interests and their conservative defenders are just as dependent on big government as anyone else. But given the mileage that conservatives get out of trying to convince voters otherwise, exploiting their resentment against the supposed “freeloaders”, I can understand why they have their opinion people like you out there still pushing that line.

Because it pays.

This running mate is the last act of a desperate candidate not unlike the Palin choice. Romney is really slipping in the polls and this truck load of money, his only hope to whitewash his evil, will dry up if there is not some energy in his campaign. He has done us a favor picking Paul Ryan. One on one with a guy who has taken cheap shots and throws the red meat of lies to the mob is exactly what this country needs. The man has never held a job that wasn’t a direct link to the government teet…government seldom creates any opportunity for the average businessman who isn’t politically connected. Whether at the local, state or federal level, government intrusion, regulation, zoning; government impedes business development, requires expensive attorney fees and typically some government employee- who makes union employees look highly productive- continues to stand in the way. Anyone who owns a business knows exactly what I am saying.

How much did Bain get in tax breaks for relocation expenses when it shut that steel mill and shipped jobs overseas? Romney wrote the book on using government assistance through tax write offs to get wealthy. How did that $77,000 tax deduction do in the Olympics?

Paul Ryan was a poor pick by Romney. He already has the Tea Party vote wrapped up, he should have selected Rob Portman to increase his chances of winning the swing state of Ohio.

Doubt that statement, after all Congress writes the government assistance and taxes laws. Closer to the truth, what is making you mad is that Romney took advantage of every subsidy and tax write off that was written in the book.

However if when you truly live-up to your selected moniker you might support doing away with all tax subsidies, write-offs, write downs, shelters, deductions etc. for a much more honest less abusive flatter tax code. The present heavily aggressive multiple-compound progressive tax code is laden down with layers of dishonest and punitive laws, that in reality, if not in purpose, punishes progressive achievement while rewarding progressive deceitfulness.

Notwithstanding the sorrow or losing a spouse, or more importantly using one’s own life, the Soptic commercial is based on anger or other motivations – rather than fact. Check out the facts, Mrs. Soptic died long after Bain changed hands, and she did have health insurance.

Facts emerge – and some blinded Obama-ites will not face them. Some diseases are fatal, and kill regardless of your health insurance coverage; and, health insurance is available to everyone now. Yes, it is available – and unlike what so many in O’s camp purport it is not free. Someone is paying for the insurance. This is not about the lack of available insurance; rather, this is about people wanting someone else to pay for their insurance.

I do not wish cancer on anyone, nor do I negate the incredible pain of losing a spouse – however, I am disgusted by those who lie to make a point and use those circumstances as their foundation.

Beyond Mr. Soptic, make no mistake the scheming and unsavory shameful behavior of the Obama campaign and inner circle are unmistakable and consistent. Their fingerprints are all over this – and they lied – yes, OBAMA LIED – when asked about this and so much more. We now know that they knew about it from the beginning, and are exploiting every untruth that they believe might help their self-serving agenda. They are deplorable.

The facts indicate there is a fluid line between capitalism and socialism with many points along that line. With the passage of Obamacare, the current point on the line has moved further toward socialism, there is no way it hasn’t.

And one must also remember, Countries like Greece and States/Cities like CA are also not true socialistic entities…….but it is those policies that are their problem.

He needs to assure them that nothing will change for them. He also needs to remind them that it’s their generation who kept a close eye on their neighbors’ children. They’re the generation that acted when they saw neighbors children putting themselves at risk.

It’s time to talk policy and issues…something Americans have been demanding.

During the GOP primary campaign, Ryan said this:

On Sunday, NBC’s David Gregory asked Ryan if it was a “legitimate” issue for the country to be discussing.

“Actually, I came on to talk about the debt crisis we have and the budget,” Ryan replied. “I support the Wisconsin amendment to define marriage between a man and a woman. Look, Bill Clinton signed into law the Defense of Marriage Act. If I recall from the last presidential campaign, President Obama and Vice President Biden said that they support marriage as being between a man and a woman.”

“I don’t know why were are spending all this time talking about this,” he added. “We’ve got a debt crisis coming and the administration just gave us a budget that simply just charts another path to debt and decline. It’s an unserious budget that just fails to tackle these challenges. And I think that’s what we ought to be talking about.”

(By the way, we had regulations in place when they did find that contaminated PB)

Paul Ryan should stay in the House

Another point to consider is that if Romney puts Rep. Ryan on the ticket and loses, it could tarnish any future prospects the latter wishes to have. Remember, Ryan is only 42 years old. He may still have a long political career in front of him.

For what it’s worth, Portman and Pawlenty, the other potential running mate picks, leave a lot to be desire. Portman is unknown even in his home state and Pawlenty is, well, the worst of any of the potential choices. But while Rep. Ryan’s “Path to Prosperity” may not be perfect, conservatives should want him sticking it out in the Congress, which is where policy really matters, rather than taking a largely ceremonial, pointless job.

There was a time when I would have agreed…but that was before I found out Ryan had passed his torch to Dan Camp who is working quietly behind the scenes to achieve Ryan’s goals.

I know…..that is why the illusion of “Hope and Change” worked on so many. We got plenty of the change part of the equation……now we need to hope it doesn’t put us out of our misery.

16 Trillion with an additional 1.5 Trillion a year are raw facts……..Greece didn’t do so well when presented with their raw facts……and we seem to be right on their heels.

That’s because w spent too dang much too………

Tick, tick, tick……the rating agencies are just biding their time as the misfits do nothing. If one doesn’t like the comparison to Greece, than take a look at Spain…..their problems also stem from downgrades………

And Barack Obama, during his first campaign, said that raising the debt ceiling was unpatriotic. He said in 2009? 2010? that raising taxes during a down economy would be the wrong thing to do. He extended the tax cuts.

Bill Clinton recently reiterated that point.

We’re still in a down economy.

No, they won’t kick you out but they will tell you that you need to see your family doctor or give you the name of a specialist and send you on your way. They aren’t going to treat it there.

I’ve had several in the family tree basically live in the emergency room……I’m not too sure about the ones near you, but they always treat…..yes, they may release too, but they always treat again when they go right back in……..I’ve never seen them denied and for the most part they very rarely pay.
