The latest from the party of ideas

OK, I admit it: I saw this on Power Line earlier today and was convinced it was really a hoax. Then I finally got the email from the Democratic National Committee, with a link to the latest innovation in bumper-sticker politics:

"Change that matters"?

"Change that matters"? Clearly, that's another slogan on its way to the scrap heap.

Yes, this is bound to be a campaign full of substance and thoughtfulness. Yessirree.

Well, if all sides are determined to keep this campaign on the low road, I might finally have to surrender and play along. One can only guess the only slogans that were considered and rejected …

“Democrats: Not to be confused with any other parties”

“Democrats: Alphabetically superior”

“Democrats: Hey, look — George W. Bush!”

“Democrats: Fresh out of short, vapid slogans”

“Democrats: Get our full message on Twitter”

And it’s not even silly season yet. (Sigh.)

for my money, this is the single most offensive thing available from the GOP store.

I know, it doesn’t specifically call for hauling liberals off to concentration camps, but it certainly comes close enough.

Kyle, since you posted only Republican stickers I thought you might like to see a few Democratic ones:

For what it’s worth, I happen to agree with Kyle that the “Not a Republican” sticker is kind of stupid. I cringed a bit when I saw it; all I could think was, “the DNC, they sure do stink at provocation.”

But if you’re looking for merch with actual Democratic ideas spelled out clearly, there is this.

So Mr. Wingfield begins his search for serious, issue-driven, intellectual dialogue in the political arena by examining … bumper stickers. Shrewd thinking, sir. Very shrewd.

One can only guess other forms of expression were examined and rejected for not fitting a pre-conceived partisan thesis.

Mr. Holmes has this right: Kyle is searching for deep thought by looking at bumper stickers and finding them not good enough. Ummm….

Kyle your other article today was much better.

As for “Not a Republican”, it’s actually pretty succinct for about 75% of the population at this point. :)

Mr. Holmes: Yes, because I always begin my search with whatever happens to land, unsolicited, in my inbox …

You must have missed it, or declined to comment on it because it didn’t fit — oh, I don’t know — a pre-conceived partisan thesis, but yesterday I said the Romney campaign should drop the dog-eating talk and focus on the issues.

OY, how hard can it be to understand?

Think of federal budget deficits themselves as barometers of economic activity: when economic activity declines, tax revenues plunge and social welfare expenditures rise as more people are thrown out of work. As a consequence, in bad economic times, there are higher deficits; conversely, when prosperity returns, deficits decrease.

Fair enough, but just because you get an email about something doesn’t necessarily mean you have to blog about it. As several people have pointed out, it’s not like the DNC has a monopoly on puerile/inane/insulting bumper stickers. What’s next, a column about how Democrats spin facts to support their positions?

I got an email today that might be a good article. Men’s Wearhouse is having yet another sale. I think George Zimmer is up to something. Can’t trust a guy that smiles all the time. And can he really guarantee I’m going to like the way I look in one of his suits? Something’s fishy here Kyle.

The mental desparity within America’s political community is astounding, eclipsed only by the droves of people on either side of the aisle that swallow the rhetoric hook, line and sinker. While this piece might be viewed as an attempt to lift us above the din of ignorance, considering the tone I have my doubts.

Every once in a while, a bumper sticker is good for a chuckle or a grin, if you’re stuck in traffic. Other than that, all they really do is mess up the looks of your bumper.

I’m not sure what the point of this is. When it comes to hate-filled invective directed at the other side, Liberals rule the roost. Look in any forum and it will the libs who try to persuade with attacks and insults.

Democrat game plan: appeal to the baser instincts of their constituency. This means: insult the opposition, wage class warfare, blame it on Bush.
