Activists rate Romney’s appeal to Georgia conservatives

After all the hand-wringing and rancor, the Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Republican primary came to an abrupt, if unofficial, conclusion this week. On paper, 20 state contests and two challengers remain. But Rick Santorum’s suspension Tuesday of his second-place campaign removed the last, best challenge to Mitt Romney. Barring tragedy or scandal, the former Massachusetts governor will be the GOP standard-bearer against Barack Obama come November.

Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul pledge to soldier on toward Tampa and this summer’s GOP convention, but Romney has earned the right to begin running against Obama instead of his fellow Republicans. His biggest bit of unfinished primary business is whether the 60 percent of GOP voters who chose a candidate other than Romney will transfer their loyalty to him without some wooing. If the general election becomes a matter of which party can fire up its base more, can Romney inspire the kind of conservative turnout needed to win?

Georgia, where Romney finished a solid but distant second to favorite son Gingrich, is a good testing ground for those questions.

Four years ago, John McCain won our state narrowly by recent standards, with just a 5-percentage-point margin over Obama. But the closer margin owed to larger turnout among black voters supporting Obama; the electorate was almost as conservative and a tad more evangelical as it was four years earlier when George W. Bush was re-elected.

But this year, and Romney? “I definitely think he’s got some challenges to overcome,” says Kay Godwin, a co-founder of Georgia Conservatives in Action and a key GOP activist in South Georgia.

“People honestly do not see him as conservative. We see it a lot with what he says, but we’ve not seen it lived out in action, and we’re getting a little bit wiser. But at this point, our goal is Obama has to go. It’s my number-one goal, period. … At this particular moment in time, I think people are trying their best to settle into this [with Romney as the apparent nominee]. And I just hope and pray they can. But there’s so much skepticism out there, time will tell.”

Julianne Thompson, state coordinator of the Tea Party Patriots, says she does see Georgia’s grassroots activists coming to accept Romney.

“I think most people see the bigger picture here. It’s what I hear from a lot of tea-party people, I can tell you that … they’re looking toward November and want to concentrate on Barack Obama and really are ready to be done with the primary.”

Thompson says Romney’s choice of running mate will be critical to solidifying conservative support here.

“There are a lot of great names out there that have been put out,” she says, mentioning Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin and Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida specifically. “I personally like [former Arkansas Gov.] Mike Huckabee a lot, though I’m not sure he’s interested in doing anything like that. But I really do like him and he would be a good contrast, and we would be hitting all across the Republican spectrum if we had a vice-presidential candidate like that.”

Godwin also mentions those three names, along with Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (who just might be my own choice to join a Romney ticket).

“If he puts somebody on there that the conservatives trust, that would make a big difference,” Godwin says. “It can’t be [New Jersey Gov.] Chris Christie … it’s got to be somebody from the heartland, the conservative movement, so that we’ll get behind him with everything we’ve got.”

Chris Perkins, the state director for Ralph Reed’s Faith and Freedom Coalition, strikes a more optimistic note. Romney, he predicts, “will do better than McCain did four years ago.”

Why? “Mostly because I think there are people who voted for Obama four years ago who are going to change their mind. Hard-core Democrats will vote for Obama, hard-core Republicans will vote for Romney — but there are people in the middle who are going to want change, or they’re not happy with the way things have gone under Obama.”

The GOP primary dragged on longer than some people would have liked, but it still wrapped up with almost five months to go before Tampa. That ought to leave Romney time to wrap up some loose ends with conservative voters — and ensure the election is a referendum on Obama, not his own reliability.

I agree. We could use at least one actual conservative on the ticket. Maybe round two of the Republican Party shooting itself in the foot will cause the leadership to reassess what type of party they want to be.

Romney is handling the “conservative” (meaning rabid) wing of the Republican electorate the only way a dignified, educated, experienced politician can: act like a fool and cater to their stupid, self-destructive notions until the day after the election.

If he should win the November election, he’ll govern as he did in Massachusetts.

Romney should put Georgia in the win column easily. Not all the gopers will stay home and the donks don’t have the special circumstances of 4 years ago, and even then they lost.

I live in Oconee County and we vote goper 2-1, 70-30 if he’s invaded some country lately. It doesn’t matter if the candidate is Romney or Ralph Reed or some other fraud and it won’t matter in the rest of the state either.

I do not understand the “conservative” Republican desire to have a “conservative” head the GOP ticket. If getting Obama out of the White House is the goal, I would think having a “conservative” head the ticket would be an error. I would think that having a moderate, like 4 of the last 5 Republican White House winners, would the the ticket.

Look at history. Since 1932 Republicans have had one “conservative” elected president, Reagan in 1980. (And Reagan turned out to be one of the more moderate presidents.) All other Republican winners of the White House since 1932 have been “moderate” to liberal.

Romney fits the mold of the Republican winners of the White House since 1932.

I also agree any desires not manifested in Romney pale to voters desire to get Barry out of office.

My biggest concern with Romney is will he be tough enough against the Left? I don’t want no stinking compromises. Compromises are another word for the Left getting at least some of their way. And we know what we get with their way.

Repealing Obamacare is not enough. The Whitehouse and all the various departments controlled by POTUS need an enema, manybe two.

A new Washington Post/ABC News poll shows that 54 percent of Americans disapprove of President Barack Obama’s handling of the economy, while only 44 percent approve.

Likely Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney scored some major victories over Obama on economic issues. A total of 47 percent of respondents said Romney would handle the economy better, while 43 percent chose Obama. And 51 percent said Romney would handle the budget deficit better, while only 38 percent chose Obama.

The numbers are mixed for Obama when it comes to gasoline prices. Only 28 percent of respondents approve of his handling of that issue, while 62 percent disapprove. But only 21 percent of Americans blame Obama for high gas prices, while 28 percent blame U.S. oil companies, and 25 percent blame foreign oil-producing countries.

While the recession officially ended in June 2009, a whopping 76 percent of Americans say it feels like we’re still in a recession, while 21 percent feel it’s over. Respondents were about equally split as to whether the economy is improving, with 48 percent saying yes and 49 percent saying no.

Mitt Romney’s ‘Amazing’ Statistic On Women’s Jobs Called Into Question

WASHINGTON — Mitt Romney has come up with an “amazing statistic” “92.3 percent of all the jobs lost during the Obama years have been lost by women.”

But more men than women have lost jobs since the recession began – that’s why economists called it a “man-cession.”

In blaming Obama for “turning the clock back 20 years on American women,” as the Romney campaign puts it, Republicans are hoping to counter Obama’s perceived advantage with female voters.

“This is political gaming,” said Diane Swonk, chief economist at Mesirow Financial, a financial services company.

“You can play a lot games with statistics.

So, Trashman, you’re saying that Romney’s reliance on a valid statistic during the actual Presidency of the current Disaster-in-Chief, rather than the totality of the recession as a whole, is not a valid campaign issue?

Just when is this President supposed to:

A. Take responsibility for his actions or failures, and
B. Actually do something of note to fix the problems he inherited?

Bottom-line, it is factually correct that during the term of office of the current Disaster-in-Chief (as the article you parsed from states), far more women have lost their jobs than men, and Obama has done little, if anything to correct that problem.

Deal with it.

You become a Republican governor in Massachusetts by being a MODERATE, not a liberal. Massachusetts has a legislature and a Congressional district makeup based on years of gerrymandering and control, so while they have a resounding majority in both their State House and Congressional delegation on the Democrat side, at the state-wide level they have elected 3 Republican governors following the days of Mike Dukakis, and would have elected a fourth last year if a former Democrat turned independent hadn’t run a third-party campaign. And they elected Scott Brown just recently to the U.S. Senate (and look to be ready to re-elect him).

McCain is the one that lost votes (people stayed at home). If you look at the exit polls then you will see that it was the social conservatives that stayed home. Here’s how contrived this whole “GOP War on Women” mantra really is.

Last night on ‘The Ed Show’ on MSNBC, Ed Schultz began talking about a media conference call with the Romney campaign – note I said the Romney campaign, not Romney himself – where a reporter asked a Romney staffer “What is Mitt Romney’s position on the Lilly Ledbetter Act?” There was a long pause – Oh, no! – followed by the reply, “We’ll get back to you on that”. (Note: The Lilly Ledbetter Act merely changes the date when a discriminatory pay act is considered to have occurred)

Well, you would have thought that Mitt Romney himself had just committed the rape of a woman after denying her contraception if you listened to Ed Schultz’s contrived angst! Even though the Romney campaign did, in fact, respond later in the day with a statement saying that he supports equal pay for everyone and WOULDN’T CHANGE ANY LAWS, Schultz brings in Lilly Ledbetter herself and they both start bemoaning how Mitt Romney would REPEAL the act named for her!

To summarize, we go from a campaign staffer not having the candidate’s specific view on a specific act handy, to later having the candidate’s view supplied as being in support of the act in question, to the candidate trying to repeal the act, which of course is all part of the GOP’s War on Women. Did you follow that logic?

Contrived doesn’t even begin to describe what this latest alleged GOP “war” really is.

Sorry Tiberius but I want to address this issue. Why should their be a law that makes the majority of this country a special group with special protections?

The below is from Laura Ingraham on the subject of this “war on women” the other night:

“In her new book, “The Richer Sex”, Liza Monday cites new research that shows in U.S. cities single women in their 20’s without children on average make more than men. And check this out… almost 40 percent of working wives out-earn their husbands. The next generation of women in America will make more than their male counterparts across all levels of employment.

In 49 of the last 50 months, unemployment was lower for women than men; this according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. And women receive roughly three-fifth of both bachelors and masters degrees from American colleges and universities.

And get this… it gets better… the National Journal Heartland Monitor Group is reporting that three-fourths of women say they believe they can now advance as far as their talents will take them regardless of their gender. And nearly as many report that they have not experienced discrimination at all in the workplace.”

The GOP voters (and newspaper columnists) who overwhelmingly supported the most professionally and morally corrupt candidate in the primaries (Gingrich) will support Romney.

I agree with Thompson, if the Tea Party is anything but “GOP Lite” they’ll flock to the man who arguably invented the movement – Ron Paul. After all, it was the Heritage Foundation that came up with the health insurance individual mandate that Romney instituted as Governor.

I have trouble believing the hardcore evangelicals will vote for a Mormon – compelling evidence of what is wrong with the whole theocratic movement. How can anyone with any integrity even mouth the name “Ralph Reed” and be taken seriously.

Why doesn’t Kay Godwin and Georgia Conservatives in Action work just as tirelessly to help lift the areas of S. Georgia (especially around Baxley) that are practically third world nations out of poverty?

The center — in the rest of the country — will move toward Obama after viewing the attack ads (that are outright lies) already produced by Rove and the other Super Pacs. Citizens United will prove to be the downfall of the group it was designed to help. Scalia, Roberts and Alito be damned. That is how karma works.

DannyX;

Recent polls in these 11 states show Obama ahead of Romney in every state but Iowa. But they also show him topping 50 percent only in Wisconsin.

Obama seems to be running slightly better than last time in Ohio, Florida and North Carolina, and slightly weaker in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Iowa, and about the same in Virginia, Colorado and Nevada, with no recent polling in New Hampshire.

Obama has not sewn up any of these 11 states, which have 144 electoral votes. Without them, and without the 11 in Indiana and one in Nebraska he carried last time, he would have only 205 electoral votes, 65 short of the needed majority.

And 2008 is not the only possible benchmark. In the 2010 congressional elections, Republicans carried the popular vote for the House in all 11 of these states. They went into the election with only 56 of these states’ 126 House seats and came out with 82.

Voters’ issue focus this year looks more like that of 2010 than 2008. Even polls showing Obama ahead also show most voters rate him negatively on the top issues, jobs and the economy. Neither the stimulus package nor Obamacare evokes positive feelings.

The president has been reduced to trash-talking the Supreme Court, leaving his press secretary to tidy up afterward. He has been spending a week playing up the Buffett rule, a tax proposal raising capital gains rates on very high earners that would net little revenue.

That polls well in a vacuum. But more extended surveys, like one recently conducted for the moderate Third Way group, show most voters prefer limiting government and putting economic growth ahead of “an economy based on fairness.”

That’s closer to Mitt Romney’s view than Barack Obama’s. Obama and his party have bet everything on the notion that economic distress would make Americans favor a bigger government. That turned out to be a losing bet.

Romney and his party are betting that voters are ready for market-oriented reforms. Despite his political tin ear, Romney has been making progress in honing this message.

Meanwhile Obama is flailing. That’s not the behavior of an incumbent president confident of winning re-election.

“I just dont remember any one complaining about Bush staff in pay, do you?”

gm, this is known as a deflection, constantly used when someone has lost the ability (if they ever had it) to argue the actual issue in the first place.

The point you are missing (as usual) is the double standard of running a campaign on the issue after passing a law and touting that passage, and not conforming to it in his own workplace.

The difference lost on you is that Bush did no such thing.

Don’t think Jay Trashman will do a blog on this, do you?

On all of the most salient issues facing the electorate, we either see a statistical dead heat or a Romney advantage. And this is with Romney being bogged down for four months in a very nasty primary battle.

What to make of that topline between Obama and Mitt Romney, showing Obama up by seven points over the presumptive GOP nominee? Well, for starters a big part of Obama’s lead has to be chalked up to the hugely Democratic tilt of this poll. Pollsters with a more reasonable spread – in particular Gallup and Rasmussen – show a much tighter contest.

But the general election campaign has not actually begun. In fact, the playing field has been systematically stacked in favor of President Obama, who has been relentlessly campaigning while Romney has been mired in a messy primary battle. That is now set to change with Romney clearing out the GOP field.

Additionally, only about 10 to 15 percent of all voters are actually up for grabs in November, and they are hardly paying close attention just yet. Given that, I am much less interested in the head-to-head horse race number between Obama and Romney than I am in the details discussed above. To borrow a metaphor from economics, items like who voters trust more on creating jobs, whether they think the recession is over, or whether Obama is doing a good job dealing with the gas price surge are all “leading indicators” of where the race is going to head as we move forward through the cycle.

For Ron Paul supporters its Ron Paul or nobody at all!

What would be the point of voting for Romney? My vote is too precious to throw away on someone with his policies and lack of principles. He, Newt, Rick and everyone else running except Ron Paul are basically the same as Obama when it comes to the important matters of liberty, freedom, small government, sound foreign policy, sound monetary policy, etc.

There is a revolution going on even if the media and the GOP establishment are choosing to ignore it or hope it isn’t really happening. The big government, civil liberty and freedom destroying policies of the republicans and democrats are no longer going to be tollerated by the citizens of this country. The values and ideals of the founding fathers that every other republican candidate gives mere lip service to are embodied in Ron Paul and his voting record and it is these values that are driving this campaign. Ron has merely been the spokesman because he and he alone in Washington has the record to prove that his word can be trusted and that his principles are consistent and not up for sale by the corporatists that own the two/one party system we now suffer under.

Liberty and Freedom are going to win eventually. Those of us who have taken the red pill can no longer have the wool pulled over our eyes by Goldman Sachs candidates like Romney and Obama. Why would we take so many steps forward just to willingly take so many back by supporting someone who cares so little about the constitution, freedom, or liberty.

At a series of events in California last week Ron Paul drew between 5 and 10 thousand screaming, enthusiastic supporters each (and most of these events were held on University of California campuses). The youth have figured out that Obama was the joke everyone said he was. They know where REAL change will come from (and it isn’t Romney). This week thousands more are showing up at every event in Texas. The next generation has figured out how screwed they are even while the current generations desperately cling to the failed policies that got us here.

The future is bright, but only with a Ron Paul presidency. For the sake of america I hope the GOP does the right thing at the inevitable brokered convention and finally picks a candidate that can win against Obama – Ron Paul.

“Romney- wrote the blueprint for Obamacare”

And yet no matter how many times you repeat it, he didn’t.

“Romney- a long track record of shutting down companies and laying off Americans while sending jobs overseas”

And yet no matter how many times you repeat it, that’s not his record. Rather he has a record of creating and saving jobs.

“Romney- liberal his entire career until yesterday (we don’t know what he’ll be tomorrow)”

And yet no matter how many times you repeat it, his record is one of working with the other side of aisle which just so happens to be liberal, which is the sure sign of a moderate.

“Romney- a big government, establishment candidate”

“Kind of like the faux outrage about the remarks Hilary Rosen made about Ann Romney.”

kelly, I’ll agree that attempting to link Hillary Rosen to the Disaster-in-Chief’s campaign is a stretch, however, the outrage is, and should be real regarding her remarks. And is all-too typical for the liberals who make up the majority of the media. They are the least tolerant of any group around.

For all the claims of bigotry and intolerance thrown about conservatives, liberals alternately denigrate the religious aspect of conservatives, the working nature of stay-at-home mothers, and instead of preaching actual equality, they deliberately separate people into designated groups to play one off of another in order to buy their votes.

Liberals are, by and large, the worst hypocrites on the planet.

MrLiberty, if there were any such real “revolution” going on in America regarding the policies espoused by Ron Paul, he would have won a caucus or a primary during this GOP primary season.

He did not.

And he won’t.

There is a HUGE divide between intensity and acceptance regarding Ron Paul and his policies. Ron Paul supporters don’t get that. But the rest of America does.

Tiberius – Those who know exactly what has gone on at the caucuses know that he has actually won several (Maine as the most blatant example of corruption and vote tampering) but these facts have been specifically covered up by the mainstream media to insure his label of “unelectable” holds throughout the primary season. The collapse of the american economy, the dollar, the global economy, etc. will only further solidify the support for the sound economic policies he has been promoting for his entire career. With Diebold counting the votes I have no reason to trust any of the totals we have seen. Goldman Sachs has already chosen Romney as their candidate. What they will do to insure that happens is limitless as far as I can see. They chose Obama last time and did what they needed to do to Hillary and Bill to keep the whole Kenyan thing under wraps and they were richly rewarded with bailouts, etc.

America has a choice – freedom or continued slavery. The next few months and the next few years will show what this country is made of. I am encouraged by the young people but ultimately the older generations need to start caring about the future of america if this is going to change. Those of us currently in the freedom movement aren’t going to be able to do it alone.

Most women need to find care during the day while they go to work along with their husbands to make ends meet. I’m sure all mothers would love to stay home with their children but the reality is that the majority of families can’t afford that, something the Romney’s have never had to worry about.

something the Romney’s have never had to worry about.

Envious? He made his money legally and by using his own skills and talents. He took risks that many are fearful to take. With risk comes rewards. He should be emulated not envied. It only made sense for a mother of five to stay home. How many employees would she need to get all these kids to their after school activities and wouldn’t that cost more than she could earn.

Back in the day, before the Obama miasma, there were people that.had two to three children, that elected Mom to stay home and work on the house, meals and the children. Often she was also a home school teacher. I bought my house from a lady with six girls and she stayed home and did home schooling, while her husband worked out of state earning a large salary obviously. It is America, people have choices, or at least they did until the current period of unhappiness.

The Bush presidency was a joke, and like any good joke this one will still be funny 50 years from now.

In his eight years as President our debt more than doubled (even with a Republican House/Senate for some it), social programs were hammered and the middle class almost eliminated.

Can anyone name a successful program during his eight years?

Even more damaging was his lacking in ability to get other world leaders to support us. At times it seemed, literally, like it was the US against the world (hello, Kyoto anyone?).

By the end our banks were failing, we were in two wars, our debt was climbing, health care costs were skyrocketing…and what did we get?

Tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. I guess those bankers and AIG workers needed a tax break with all the bonuses they walked away with. WORST PRESIDENT EVER

7. ‘Hanging’ Obama with a misery index
Back in April, Romney sought to tie the nation’s economic troubles to Obama, but chose words that he immediately knew were problematic – given Obama’s race.

“ “We’re going to hang him, uh, so to speak, metaphorically, with, uh, with, uh – you have to be careful these days, I’ve learned that – with an Obama Misery Index.”

8. Obama’s ‘peacetime spending binge’
Romney attacked Obama for engaging in “one of the biggest peacetime spending binges in American history.”

Oops.

Can you say Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya? Team Romney quickly corrected the mistake. “He meant to say since World War II,” spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom told David Weigel of Slate.

9. ‘Small varmints, if you will’
: “I purchased a gun when I was a young man. I’ve always been a rodent and rabbit hunter. Small varmints, if you will. I began when I was 15 or so and I have hunted those kinds of varmints since then. More than two times

10. “I like being able to fire people who provide services to me.”

11. “I should tell my story. I’m also unemployed.” —Mitt Romney, speaking in 2011 to unemployed people in Florida. Romney’s net worth is over $200 million.

12. “There were a couple of times I wondered whether I was going to get a pink slip” –Mitt Romney, attempting to identify with the problems of average folk (January 2012)

13. “[My wife] drives a couple of Cadillacs.” –Mitt Romney, campaigning for president in Michigan (February 2012)

14. “I get speaker’s fees from time to time, but not very much.” —Mitt Romney, who earned $374,000 in speaking fees in one year according to according to his personal financial disclosure (January 2012)

15. 9. “PETA is not happy that my dog likes fresh air.” —Mitt Romney in 2007, responding to criticism from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals following revelations that he had once put the family dog in a carrier and strapped it to the roof of his car during a 12-hour road trip

16. “I believe in an America where millions of Americans believe in an America that’s the America millions of Americans believe in. That’s the America I love.” –Mitt Romney (January 2012)

17. “I have some friends who are NASCAR team owners.” —Mitt Romney, after being asked whether he follows NASCAR racing (February 2012)

18. “I like those fancy raincoats you bought. Really sprung for the big bucks.” —Mitt Romney to a group of NASCAR fans wearing plastic ponchos at the Daytona 500 (February 2012)

19. “I love this state. The trees are the right height.” —Mitt Romney, campaigning in Michigan (February 2012)

Point #1: VP candidates are irrelevant if they are “acceptable”, and an anchor if they are not. Any decent pick will be a non-event (it wont cause people to vote for the Presidential candidate, but it won’t cause people to NOT vote for them, either.).

Point #2: Conservatives hate Obama more than they dislike the current GOP candidate. It matters not whether or not Romney appeals to Georgia conservatives. Georgia conservatives , like most around the country, have an “anybody but Obama” attitude, and will vote for the candidate that gets the nomination.

I do indeed Trashman. When he was in charge the unemployment rate was much, much lower, my money bought more groceries, my gas tank was cheaper to fill, I felt safer and less in debt, and I had more freedom to choose my healthcare provider. Thanks for bringing up a fond memory.”

Ask those employees at United and American Airlines who were working on 9/11 if the Bush Presidency was a positive…when 25,000 people at United were laid off in a 2-week period? Ask those same laid-off employees about the inability to find employment for periods of upwards to tw- and three YEARS? Ask the people who were adversely affected by the financial near collapse of the stock and housing markets if the Bush Presidency was a positive?? Ask those whose gasoline prices rose to unnatural levels during the Bush Years??

For a many that experienced positives, I can find just as many — if not MORE — who experienced the negatives!! Many persist in decrying the level of governmental spending…but where were those concerns when the nation was BUSHwhacked???

And let’s not forget the out-of-control Justice Dept. who will sue any state or a private business at the drop of a hat, but can’t seem to prosecute civil or voting rights violations. They had three children before he even graduated from Harvard, and their fourth arrived just after he was hired by Bain Capital, so your comment regarding how Ann Romney had all those people helping her is both incorrect and rather stupid.

I am truly sorry that you and the airline employees had such a hard time during the Bush years. People were just scared to fly for awhile. I would think that would be the fault of the terrorists that drove those airplanes. Before you say, well, GWB was in charge, let me explain that he had only been on the job about 7 months. You can’t have it both ways, when you don’t hold Barry Oblamer responsible for anything that has happened during the last 3.5 years, but Bush should have prevented that attack? Modern thinking would suggest it was Slick Willies fault.

I know that you find it hard to believe, but MOST, there are always exceptions, people had a pretty good ride under GWB. Yes, he spent WAY too much money trying to buy off love from the Dems with Kennedy’s NCLB and the socialist program Medicare Part D. But there is no comparison to how awful things are now.

The latest polls show that 67% of Americans are unhappy with the way things are going in this country. Rasmussen has Romney up by 4 over Barry today. I know these polls mean nothing at this early date, but that doesn’t stop the libs on here from touting them over and over when Barry is up. I hope and pray that we are going to do the right thing this Nov and get this country on the right track and get people back to work and stop the withering of their savings. Have faith HDB.

Romney is not a conservative. I find it so hilarious that republicans want to beat Obama with a NE moderate. Really? If republicans think they were disapponted in GW Bush or the campaign of John McCain, why do you think Romney will be any better? Look at his record, he’s not a conservative, nor will he govern like a conservative, he’ll be even more of a moderate than Bill Clinton.

If the “good judgement” of the GOP had prevailed in “08 and McCain/Palin had been elected, the country and the world would be mired in a Global Depression — and generational unemployment would be accepted norm.

Of course, it’s easy to criticize the “actions” that were taken, but the “inaction” that the GOP espouse would have pushed the global economy over the edge.
