Perry’s move is huge for Gingrich

This is a potential game-changer. From the Associated Press:

Texas Gov. Rick Perry will abandon his presidential bid and endorse Newt Gingrich, two Republican officials said Thursday, a move coming just two days before the pivotal South Carolina primary as Republican front-runner Mitt Romney struggles to fend off a challenge from the former House speaker.

Not because Perry commands a huge segment of the GOP electorate at this point — if he did, he wouldn’t be dropping out — but because it means the consolidation of the Not Romneys is truly in full swing. And with Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain already long gone, Perry is in the best position to signal which Not Romney has the best chance of beating Romney. Apparently, Rick Santorum isn’t getting the nod. (Ron Paul never stood a chance of getting Perry’s support imo.)

If anyone has a chance of beating Romney now, it’s Gingrich.

Dusty @ 12:40 “Bush was elected for TWO terms with very little trouble.”
Go back and take a look. Reverse one state (Florida), and W loses both elections. W won, but I wouldn’t think …”with very little trouble.” accurately reflects the contest. And btw, in a direct election, not the Electoral College, more people voted for Gore than for Bush.

After seeing the comments from the former Ms. Gingrich I think Newt needs two nicknames… ‘Angry Little Attack Muffin’ for use during normal political discourse and ‘Fluff Daddy Love Muffin’ for use after hours.

Dusty your choice to endorse newt’s immoral lifestyle by voting to place him in the highest office in the land not only calls your own morality into question but demonstrates that your own claim to being a Christian to be absolutely FALSE. Indeed your actions and that of your fellow conservative Christians demonstrate that Christianity itself is a Fraud and a Frace that has no place within one’s personal life much less the public/political sphere.

David Green, maybe lifestyle issues are not as important to deciding who is President for many people as you think they should be.

Personally, I don’t care what they do in their lifestyle. I just want them to govern the country as a small-government fiscal conservative.

Kyle it would be wise for conservative christians to drop the family values mantra and their endless pursuit of forcing their own moral values through force of law upon the American People until their own actions and lifestyles match up with what they preach.

Thanks for the response.

I cannot plead innocent to not having a horse in the race. But my horse really has no name. My horse is “anyone who can defeat Obama”.

And at this point I have a problem. I do not want the presidential campaign to be a one issue campaign with the Republican nominee as the one issue. If it is Gingrich, he will be the issue. And there is a possibility that Santorum could be the issue if he is the nominee.. That leaves Romney by default.

And “by default” is a lousy way to select a candidate.

Newt met his first wife while he was in High School and she was his teacher. He left her oin her sick bed for another woman, then left that woman for another 23-years his junior after asking for an open marriage. Yet he signs a pledge to protect marriage. This buffoon will collapse under the weight of his own hypocrisy. Americans will NEVER vote a lying, deceitful lech like this loser into the highest office in this land. You can bash Obama all you want, but he will NEVER lose to Newt.

Ron Paul is the only one who stands for anything. He leaves the campaign trail to vote against the debt ceiling because he cares more about principle than a few damn votes. I’m thankful for his honesty and consistency, agree with him or not. He’s got my vote even though I disagree with a few of his stances. At least I know he won’t go back on his word.

Nope….NO WELFARE….I have a JOB!! It is EASIER for me to find employment when Democrats are in the WH….and I LOSE jobs when Republicans are in the WH!! Seems as the economy has a habit of CONTRACTING when Republicans are in control…and EXPANDING when Democrats are in power (and I’m an IT professional……)!!

It’s NOT BS….when it happened to me!! For periods of upwards of TWO YEARS, when Republicans are in the White House, I couldn’t find a job; when the Democrat got into the White House, I was able to find employment within 90 DAYS!! That’s EIGHT TIMES LONGER to find a job when Republicans are in the White House!!
