We finally have the birth certificate — I hope no one has to ask “whose birth certificate?” — long form and all.
So, there you have it.
Do I think this will end the debate? No, because conspiracy theorists generally aren’t persuaded by evidence. This was a ridiculous “debate” in the first place, and I expect it to become simply more ridiculous from here on. In fact, I think this may be good politically for President Obama, because the birthers will seem even crazier now.
As for Donald Trump: The potential presidential candidate is claiming the birth-certificate release as a scalp because he was the one who made a (kind of) mainstream issue of it. I disagree. How does it add luster to a candidate to make an issue of something that turns out to be much ado about nothing?

Ignoring it altogether until deciding to release the document to shut the morons up is playing it for all it’s worth?

all candidates for that high of an office should be required to show proof they meet the qualifications. that would include those who are in line to succeed the president should something happen to him.
while not a “birther”, I do believe he should have cleared the air sooner. I don’t think the majority of birthers are racists—many people simply became more skeptical the longer obama continued to skirt the issue. he wanted the office and in order to run for it then he should have been willing to show his credentials. try applying for a neurosurgeon job at a hospital and see if they ask to see your qualifications. same thing.

Kyle, you are correct, this evidence will not end the quest to determine who Barry really is. I think it is a character question. When you are as thin skinned, secretative, does not come off as genuine, and have been known to “stretch the truth”
(being polite), you wind up being questioned a great deal.
The more he bristles and acts indignate the worse it gets. If he were in middle school today, you would expect some bully to be constantly harrassing him. It is sad considering he is the President, but you have to admit it is fun to watch.

How much of what Hannity and Limbaugh and Bortz, and all of the rest of the mouthpieces for the right, use to beat Obama with fall into the same category of total BS like the birther issue? Death panels, govt take-over of the auto industry, radical socialist bent on destroying America, radical Muslim agenda, America hater, govt takeover of the healthcare industry, etc., ad nauseum. Flip over to Hannity for 5 minutes (if you can stand it) on any given day and you will hear the same slanderous inuendo nonstop. So this is what the free speech millions have died to protect has come to. There is no longer (if there ever was) any objective truth. It is whatever the think tanks and front groups and their pushers in the media say it is. Science is suspect, but trash-mouthed, mean-spirited, conspiritorial fools like Ann Coulter, or Glen Beck have all the answers.

Tech man you make me ashamed to be a fan. That is a false equivalency at its worst. Show me where media pundents and Democratic leaders made the 911 conspiracy an issue anywhere near this magnitude. I couldn’t name one person other than McKinney who even held this view. You certainly didn’t see the conspiritorial inuendo trumpeted all over the media for years and fanned by leaders of the opposition. So yes, your statement is also total BS.

Kyle- you ignore the fact that Trump is another fringe candidate that has been embraced overwhelmingly by Republicans in the past few weeks due to his idiotic comments. Today we get more from the other queen of the Republican intelligentsia- Sarah Palin claiming the birther issue was contrived by the media. Last night on Greta she condemned Obama for putting American troops under NATO control. I bet she has no clue what NATO stands for or what its treaty has stood for over the last sixty years or why by treaty it took control of US skies after 9-11.. Even Karl Rove has gotten tired of the looney right wing candidates.
Any party that could seriously consider Palin, Gingrich, Trump and Bachman to name a few has got to start wondering what image it is portraying. Barnum and Bailey???????

The birther leaders will still be out there with all their supporters, maybe even more. If anything they’ll just move into a more mainstream pack of lies. Ya gotta love how it took so long for Obama to produce it or to agree to produce it. It should have been done the moment it was requested. Why the short-form first and not the hard-copy long-form? What is the ploy behind dragging it out until we got to this point? I am happy it was produced and now maybe we can get answers to other questions….where’s the change he promised? Where are the jobs he promised? This took the heat off him for those matters, now Libya and the rest will take it off for the rest….Yes, it will never end.

Not one single person on the blog has even mentioned what the issue is. None of the lefties know what they are talking about. Obama’s citizenship is NOT the issue. Let me explain it to you, using an example.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, former governor of California, is obviously a citizen of the United States. He could be a US Senator, but he could NEVER be President of the US.
According to the US Constitution, the president, in addition to being a citizen, must be a natural-born citizen. That refers to the time of his birth.
The Constitution is vague so we look to the US Code for clarification.
http://www.usconstitution.net/consttop_citi.html
Had Obama NOT been born in the US, he still could have qualified to be President, if he met the requirements.
Everyone has their own agenda in deciding who to vote for. Making certain that a man or woman meets the minimum requirements as required by the Constitution should be important to every voter. It should have been equally important to Obama to be forthcoming & “transparent, as he promised.

wampum, the Republicans are sitting on their hands waiting. It appears both sides are doing next to nothing waiting for the 2012 elections. I have no trust in either side to do what is needed to alleviate debt or stimulate jobs. The sides are waiting for the others to make the errors and then pounce on that, not doing a thing to correct what is wrong…..sad.

@luangtom Do you have your long form?? You don’t do you? Most people in this country when they use/request their birth certificate, they get the short form. Why would he HAVE to furnish it to please you when the short form is LEGAL and serves the same purpose.
Why on Earth would anyone request their long form and wait 15 weeks or more to receive it makes no sense when the short version is legal and serves the same purpose? If you needed a Passport within 30 days and didn’t have your birth certificate, you’d request the short form not the long. Makes sense doesn’t it.
All of the sudden everyone is an expert at the Dept of Health on how birth records are kept and released.

Neither one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s parents were US citizens. Obama’s MOTHER was a US citizen. Big difference !!
AND YES, OBAMA WAS TRANSPARENT. He posted the OFFICIAL birth record that the state of HAWAII provides to EVERY Hawaiian CITIZEN for court proceedings, application of passport, and jobs.
The question was WHY WAS THE VERACITY of the document certified by THE STATE being questioned in the case of Obama, but NOT for EVERY SINGLE HAWAIIN who produced the same doc issued by the SAME STATE ???

No president is ever held up to their oath to the constitution – either during or after their presidency. The whole thing is a game to make the citizens believe that their votes count and that the citizens are actually responsible for deciding who the next president will be.

Tech Man, you having a problem finding those ELECTED 9/11 troofers? Mumbling to a pollster is one thing. Voting for someone who holds those views is quite another. Blatting them while in office is a whole new level. And introducing LEGISLATION over it a million miles from answering a pollster’s vague question.
Smartypants remarks are completely in order for egotistical partisans who spout nonsense. I’m not PC. When someone says dumb $#!^, it’s not my job to soothe their feelings.

I think a little smarty-pantsism is a mild response to such nasty, bigoted behavior. Obama long ago released a document that is “prima facie evidence of the fact of birth in any court proceeding.” Both the Governor of Hawaii and the State Registrar backed it up. Unbiased third parties were allowed to examine it. It was on the internet for the entire world to see.
Nutters continued their crap behavior, with absolutely NO evidence that Obama was born elsewhere.

hsn@4:41, Can you read? I’m the one who used Arnold as an example to show the difference.
You are one of the lefties today who did not distinguish the difference between being merely a citizen & a naturalized citizen. You did not even know what the issue was.
If Obama was so transparent, why did he not come forward for 3 yrs. with this document? (I know the answer to my question.)
I don’t know why his short form that is used for “court proceedings, application of passports & jobs” was not adequate for the PRESIDENCY OF THE UNITED STATES & LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD.
I was never a birther & refused to even debate the issue. I bet Hillary Clinton is laughing her head off right now. She started this rumor & I assumed if there was anything to it, that she & Bill would have gotten to the bottom of it 3 yrs. ago.
