Obama, Dems spread the condescension around
How enraging it must be to the liberal left for their hero talk about them like a bunch of bitter clingers. From MSNBC.com:
President Barack Obama’s lecture to his supporters to snap out of their lethargy is getting a frosty reception from some on the left side of the Democratic coalition.
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Obama made a point to argue — “with intensity and passion, repeatedly stabbing the air with his finger” according to the magazine — that his followers in 2008 must not stay home this year.
“It is inexcusable for any Democrat or progressive right now to stand on the sidelines in this midterm election,” Obama said.
Whatever complaints they might have about climate change or other issues, Obama said, it is “just irresponsible” that some Democrats and progressives were lacking enthusiasm for the election.
“If people now want to take their ball and go home that tells me folks weren’t serious in the first place,” he said. “If you’re serious, now’s exactly the time that people have to step up.”
“I think it is a remarkably condescending message,” said Darcy Burner, the executive director of ProgressCongress.org and the Progressive Congress Action Fund.
Progressives, she said, continue to be deeply involved in policy and in politics and are not at all lethargic or disengaged.
“The fact that they are frustrated and discouraged has as much to do with the rhetoric coming out of the White House as anything else,” she said. “And this is the latest example of that.”
Rolling Stone may have punk’d former Gen. Stanley McChrystal, but something tells me its editors didn’t intend for this interview to make Obama look worse.
Of course, Obama is one of many Democrats chiding voters for their perceived apathy. Vice President Joe Biden recently told liberals “to stop whining and get out there and look at the alternatives. This president has done an incredible job. He’s kept his promises.”
Sen. John Kerry didn’t stop at the Democrats’ base, saying, “We have an electorate that doesn’t always pay that much attention to what’s going on so people are influenced by a simple slogan rather than the facts or the truth or what’s happening.”
A simple slogan, huh? Like maybe “Hope” or “Change”?

Truth be told, the democrats this year are headed for a certified, card carrying butt whooping that they worked very hard to earn, and they are not liking it one bit. Instead of blaming everyone but themselves, a moment of introspection and soul searching should reveal to them that the problem that ails them is that they are clinging to an ideology that has failed consistently everywhere it has been tried. It will be fun to watch their reactions as the election returns become public.

Kerry’s comments were rather hilarious considering that they accurately describe the 2008 Obama voters. Many who voted for Obama didn’t know that the Dems controlled Congress, who Nancy Pelosi was, or what Obama’s positions were.

Kerry said this? I did not think he had that much on the ball. But he is 100% correct. That is a fundamental factor in American politics. People do not sit still for a 20 minute lecture on Paki – India – Afghan relations but will fall head over heels in love with a 10 second sound bite on the same subject.

And since the media stopped talking about it the moment the program ended, most of them probably still think it’s a success. They don’t know that car sales dropped from the norm the same amount it had risen from the norm, and that we basically threw away millions of dollars and destroyed tens of thousands of perfectly good used cars, and got nothing in return! That’s the kind of willful ignorance we’re faced with. Obama is right, the people that voted for him are irresponsible.

Last election, I knew a few people who planned to vote for the first time in their lives because they fell for this hopey, changey thing, but they didn’t because they were afraid they might get called up for jury duty if they registered to vote. Voting is a responsibility, but comes with responsibilities. Patriotism goes further than showing up at a booth.

Immediately withrawn all troops from the Middle East as quickly as they were assembled there…quicker. 2. Close Gitmo in a year as promised. 3. Reinstate the Fairness Doctrine. 4. ACTUALLY, Obama crushed middle America with the manner in which GM and Chrysler were restructured.
The bond holders and shareholders, most all of whom were from middle America, were wiped out and billions of dollars were lost by ordinary Americans in order for the Lefties to stand up and proclaim a profit on the shares of the new companies.
The Left proclaims their love of the “little people” but stomps all over them when the mood suits or a union wants our money.
I also see Obama now attending a Christian church when he needs votes. Where was he the past year and a half? Oh yes, campaign season is Obama’s Christmas and Easter for the casual believer. The Christian casual believer, on the other hand, is at least honest about faith and not simply a liar attempting to trick the voter.
