One thing Barnes and Deal agree on …

… is that the least popular city in Georgia today is Washington, D.C.

At least, that’s what you’d think from seeing their ads on the Internet.

  • From the Roy Barnes campaign: “Congressman Nathan Deal: too corrupt … even for Congress.” The “even for Congress” part speaks for itself. But notice also that Congress, not corrupt, is the word in bold — and mentioned twice (i.e., it’s not just “Nathan Deal”; it’s “Congressman Nathan Deal.”)
  • And from the Republican Governors Association, in support of Deal: “Roybama: Are you following the Obama-Barnes apology tour?” On the “o” in “Roybama,” the ad manages not only to feature the familiar Obama ‘08 logo, but to hang a crown (remember “King Roy” from 2002?) on it.

Given the big gap between Georgians’ engagement in national politics and their apparent lack of interest in this year’s primaries, I expect that we’ll hear more, not fewer, attempts to tie the candidates to Washington between now and November.

And frankly, it’s hard to blame them: They seem to get a lot more mileage out of these messages than from their pronouncements on education or water.

What ByteMe said. That says it all. I would just like to add that the “Roybama” add is very stupid. It’s like something junior high kids would come up with. I’m voting Libertarian but if I had to choose between the two, I would choose Roy because I can’t vote for a party that would have such a stupid campaign. Is that the best you can come up with?

Christians in Gaza Fear for Their Lives as Muslims Burn Bibles and Destroy Crosses

June 18, 2007

After defeating their rivals in Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement, Muslim extremists are focusing their attacks on Christians in Gaza City. Christians in Gaza City have issued an appeal to the international community and a plea for protection against the increased attacks by Muslim extremists.

Father Manuel Musallem, head of Gaza’s Latin church, told the AP that Muslims have ransacked, burned and looted a school and convent that are part of the Gaza Strip’s small Romany Catholic community. He told the AP that crosses were broken, damage was done to a statue of Jesus, and at the Rosary Sister School and nearby convent, prayer books were burned.

Obama = one dumb president.

Obama says voters may blame him for economy

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama insisted Friday that the U.S. economy is showing improvement from the deepest recession in decades but conceded the “progress has been painfully slow.” He said he understands that many voters in November’s elections may blame the weak recovery on him.

Facing a rising jobless rate, Obama told a White House news conference: “For all the progress we’ve made, we’re not there yet. And that means people are frustrated and why people are angry.”

“Because I am president, and the Democrats have control of the House and Senate, it’s understandable that people are saying, ‘What have you done?’”

At his first formal session with reporters since May, Obama repeated his contention that Republican obstructionism is hampering his ability to steer the economy into a stronger recovery.

All politics and no issues! Why, oh, why do voters put up with this? How much money was paid out, and how many favors are owed, to sponsor these meaningless ads?

American politics are just legalized extortion and bribery. The politician “requests” contributions from organizations and individuals that he will be in a position to favor or harm if elected; that’s common-law extortion.

Organizations and individuals contribute to a politician to curry favors and avoid harm in the event the politician is elected: that’s common-law bribery.

The only ethical way to finance a political campaign is through voluntary contributions of $100 or less from citizens registered to vote in the election in which the politician is running. That’s not hard to understand, but it is impossible to legislate.

So, we’ll continue to have political campaigns financed by bribery and extortion, spending millions of dollars to fool voters into voting their stupidity instead of their interests.

Dinesh D’Souza, pres. of King’s College in NYC, is the author of a forthcoming book, The Roots of Obama’s Rage.” He wrote on Forbes a few days ago, “Barack Obama is the most antibusiness president in a generation, perhaps in American history…Obama runs up taxpayer debt not in the billions but in the trillions. He has expanded the fed. govt.’s control over home mortgages, investment banking, health care, autos & energy. The ‘Weekly Standard’ summarizes Obama’s approaches as omnipotence at home, impotence abroad…The President’s actions are so bizarre that they mystify his critics & supporters alike.”

Business critics think Obama is clueless about business & is a socialist, but the author writes, “The real problem with Obama is worse–much worse.” Read the article to learn what his father’s dreams were in Obama’s book, “Dreams From My Father.”

Governor Roy Barnes is the perfect Conservative Democrat to represent the Conservative wing of the big tent Democrat party. The Democrat party need Conservative Democrats like Senator Sam Nunn, Governor Frist Hollings, Senate Robert Byrd and others. Governor Roy Barnes is the perfect Conservative Democrat to lead the Conservative wing of the Democrat party.
