How many millions Atlanta favoritism will cost us, answered
I asked the question earlier this month; yesterday, we got the answer:
A federal jury on Monday awarded $17.5 million in damages to an Atlanta businessman who claimed the City of Atlanta and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport illegally steered a lucrative indoor advertising contract to a competitor with deep political connections.
The verdict, which came after nearly eight hours of deliberations, called for Billy Corey and his company, Corey Airport Services, to receive $8.5 million in compensatory damages, to be paid in thirds by the city, Clear Channel Outdoor Inc. and businesswoman Barbara Fouch.
The jury also awarded Corey $9 million in punitive damages. Clear Channel was ordered to pay $8.5 million and Fouch $500,000.
The verdict was an embarrassment for Hartsfield-Jackson and City Hall that recalled the political maneuvering and outright corruption that came to symbolize the operation of the airport during the 1980s and 1990s.
The city said it will appeal Monday’s verdict.
So, city taxpayers are out almost $3 million in damages, plus whatever legal fees the city has accumulated — and will continue to pile up in an appeal. For what? So that Barbara Fouch can enter a fourth decade of making millions from a sweetheart contract?
No thanks. End the shenanigans, and re-bid the contract.

Chevy Volt to cost $41,000 before rebate
A federal tax credit would bring the electric car’s price to $33,500. Volt’s main rival, the Nissan Leaf, could have a base price of $20,280 for Californians after subsidies. Both go on sale later this year.
Alright, I’ll leave the high-priced cars for all you rich folks. There’s no way I’d pay $33,500 OR $20,280 for a car. $10,000 tops…maybe $13,000.

I fail to see Shirley Franklin’s name mentioned much here. Shirley got her ex-husband and son sweetheart deals at the airport for years and she worked for Maynard Jackson and Bill Campbell. She continued the “Good Ole Brother” cronyism at the Airport and should have to come up with some of the funds to pay off Billy Corey. Also, how in the hell did she keep her daughter out of jail. When is the hammer going to come down on Shirley?

Know how I found out? Professor Henry Gates of the, now infamous, “Beer Summit” wrote a paper on the history of slavery. Black people were NOT pleased…not pleased AT ALL!

Why the Left Hates Conservatives
Liberals don’t just hate conservatism as an ideology; they hate conservatives as individuals.
Of all the recent revelations to come out of JournoList, an e-mail list consisting of about 400 liberal/left journalists, perhaps the most telling is the depth of their hatred for conservatives. That these journalists would consult with one another in order to protect candidate and then President Obama and in order to hurt Republicans is unfortunate and ugly. What is jolting is the hatred of conservatives on display, as exemplified by the e-mail from a public-radio reporter expressing her wish to personally see Rush Limbaugh die a painful death — and the apparent absence of any objection from her fellow liberal journalists.
Every one of us on the right has seen this hatred. I am not referring to leftist bloggers or to anonymous comments by angry leftists on conservative blogs — such things exist on the right as well — but to mainstream, elite liberal journalists. There is simply nothing analogous among elite conservative journalists. Yes, nearly all conservatives believe that the Left is leading America to ruin. But while there is plenty of conservative anger over this fact, there is little or nothing on the right to match the Left’s hatred of conservative individuals. Would mainstream conservative journalists e-mail one another wishes that they could be present while Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi or Michael Moore died slowly and painfully of a heart attack?
From Karl Marx to today, the Left has always hated people of the Right, not merely differed or been angry with them. The question is, why?

Atlantans applaud Corey for taking this to the limit and winning what we all knew to be the truth.
Don’t think it is just black politicans, there are whites right in there with them. So many corrupt things continue. Blame our re-elected council members on the finance committee who have turned their heads to these contracts and exposing the fraud on the taxpayers. Every one of them is as guilty for knowing and not responding in a meaningful way. The current Mayor picked a police chief who was NOT on the list of 5 top candidates submitted by a national search team hired with my tax dollars to find the “brightest and best” for Atlanta. The new Chief is an old name…..he showed up on the list because he was Andy Young’s driver, an insider. Continues the”favors” and perpetual cronyism. When will the voters get enough of the stealing, waste and over taxing. When will that day come? The white business clicks are right in there with the black kabals. It is incestual, corrupt, and continues because voters don’t go to the polls and vote the bums out.
