Granted, this list was compiled by people on the right — the editors at Townhall. That’s one reason I’m bringing it up here for debate. Did they get it right?
I count three current or former Georgians on the list — Newt Gingrich, Clarence Thomas and Erick Erickson; no Tom Price or Ralph Reed — and it’s interesting that 4.5 of the top 10 are women (the half referring to the fact that No. 7 is “the tea party patriot”).
The entire top 10, in ascending order and with my comments in parentheses:
10. Michele Bachmann (The most hated Republican in Congress? Really?)
9. Bill O’Reilly (Higher than Sean Hannity? Really?)
8. Dick Cheney (Only question imo is whether he or Karl Rove ires liberals more.)
7. The tea party patriot (A little too close to “Time’s Person of the Year: You” for my taste.)
6. Michelle Malkin (Not many liberals naming babies Michelle [or Michele] these days, I suppose.)
5. Ann Coulter (No surprise here.)
4. George W. Bush (How many years will pass before he makes it out of the top 10? Will he, or we, live to see it?)
3. Rush Limbaugh (Not No. 1? Is this Elton John’s fault?)
2. Sarah Palin (But of course.)
… and at No. 1, Glenn Beck.
Thoughts? Who would make the opposite list — people hated by the right?
(H/t: Hot Air, whose bloggers Ed Morrisey and Allahpundit are ranked Nos. 49 and 65, respectively.)

#4 is wrong. I, as a lefty, don’t hate him, I just think he was wrong about nearly everything he ever did, policy wise, and generally an idiot. Same with #2. She is more an object of ridicule than hate. I agree with you that Hannity should be higher rated, and billo is about where he should be, even though he does occasionally accidently reveal traces of humanity within himself.
It really is the hate spewing pundits that the left most revile, and the rest of the top ten list seems to be them.
As for whom the right hates? there is no logical reason for anything they hate. They simply hate whom they are told to hate by those on the top ten list above.

Hate is a pretty strong word to use on anyone you don’t know.
I don’t dislike anyone on either side who has actually been elected to office and served dutifully. I dislike Palin because she quit her job for a cash grab. Other than that, I only dislike media members that lie and use fear based, cultish tactics to make money at the expense of both civility and progress in this country.
For example, Rush Limbaugh and Hannity have no college degrees and are subject matter experts on nothing. They are just loud and belligerent with seemingly only a surface level knowledge of facts and are against nuanced arguments to complex problems. They just want to be loud and angry so that they can sell commercials. That’s not doing anyone any good. Its hurting both parties and America as a whole.

I don’t know why Hannity is not #1. He starts his show off with “this president”, and that is the end of me watching him. No matter what problem we are having, he always blames Obama. Obama can only be in one place at a time, and he is not responsible for the oil spill, that was deregulation by the Bush regime, and the oil barons who are still in congress. I would never apoligize to BP no matter who I hated.

Kyle, slow news day? You need to punch out early, find a bar and get drunk – it’s Friday. this nonsense is PSYCH 100 “Projection” crap and it’s becoming de rigueur for the pathetic neo-con crowd. most of the folks on this list are blathering talking head, who earn a living spewing inaccurate, baseless, maliicious, tripe. and they have the AUDACITY to produce their own list? as if they cold-called 500 “liberals” to complie the list. as a shout out to the climate change/no climate change crowd, where is the data? but I digress. First off, in the spirit of the flat earthers, let’s see the data? did Townhall call 500 “liberals” and ask them the rank, the rankest of the rank? Nope, I didn’t major in psychology, but have watched enough Dr. Phil to know we are all responsible for our own fellings (hip shrinks call it “owning one’s feelings”). I find such lists absurd because 1 – liberals don’t hate anyone – it’s one of their shortcomings. and 2 – liberals are the ones who profess to know how others “feel” (happy, sad, love, hate, disenfranchised, etc.). And, in a bizarre, kinda faux (or should I say Fox?) self-esteem issue, me thinks the right is far too concerned about what the left thinks.

Sarah Palin is not popular with the American people. It’s not just a liberal thing.
The NBC/WSJ poll released 2 days ago confirm it. Only 29% have a positive image of her vs 43% who have a negative image of her.
Same with W. His image is even worse. The question is “How many years will pass before AMERICANS change there views on W ? Will he, or we, live to see it?
Now to be fair I will also point how Obama fared on the same question, 47% have a positive image of Obama vs 30% who have a negative view of him.
Republicans have an image problem, not only with liberals, but with the entire country.

Amusing. Shows the depth of the thinking in the USA today.
Notice that only one member of congress is in the top 10. And that one member of congress is a do nothing member. All she does is talk.
All the other members of the top 10 are talkers, including the former VP & P. So why would anyone “hate” talkers when all they do is talk.
Personally I like to get after the guys who are actually doing stuff I do not like. Like Justice Scalia legislating from the bench in the New Haven firemen case. Or Obama cutting taxes and increasing spending like his hero Reagan.
Of course honesty requires that I confess that I am a talker also.

The federal government was fully aware of what BP’s practices were and are. The same holds true for Wall Street. Ever heard of the SEC? That is way it is rightfully receiving its share of the blame for both.
The left uses the failure of government as an excuse for more government. How about better government?

“I find it amazing how people champion Palin when all she did was let down the people of Alaska who voted for her so she could make money.”
That is certainly one way of looking at the situation. She came under intense persistent investigative scrutiny and outright mudslinging (from the left) and prying into her personal life. She was faced with a choice as Governor of staying put and fighting it out or doing what she’s currently doing to maximize her reach and impact. I would have to carefully review and consider her decision in deciding whether or not to vote for her in a prominent national election. She decided it was in the best interests of her and her constituents in Alaska to resign. For now, she’s very effective at what she does and I’m glad she’d doing it.
Let’s keep in mind on a scale of personal character she remains FAR AND AWAY ahead of such noted angels as Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, John Edwards, John Kerry, Barney Frank, etc. etc. etc.

“….If you oppose the teachings in the BIBLE..the left loves you” are the words of a CINO (Christian In Name Only) who has no idea what is between the covers of the Bible. I would suggest reading Proverbs 6:16-19 where we are told what God hates and is an abomination to Him. If you believe what the Bible says, it sure doesn’t seem like God favors the Hard Right.
“These six things does the Lord hate: yes, seven are an abomination unto Him: 1) A proud look, (2) a lying tongue, (3) hands that shed innocent blood, (4) a heart that devises wicked imaginations, (5) feet that are swift in running to mischief, (6) a false witness who speaks lies, and (7) one who sows discord among brethren.” Glenn, Rush, Sean, Billo and fellow false witness discord-sowers with wicked imaginations, God calls you an abomination.
God also tells us all we need to know about some of the female right-wing types listed above in Proverbs 9:13 with, “A foolish woman is CLAMOROUS (noisy): she is SIMPLE, and she KNOWETH NOTHING.”

Kyle…..you are a shining example of what is wrong with American Politics, and why I would recommend a third or fourth political party……
When you are the blog voice of the right..and you want to play kids games, and create divisions, by talking about them, instead of trying to create positivity amongst all Americans, perhaps you should move back to Amsterdam.
You did loose the last election, and instead of wasting time, by stopping progress….the right ought to deal with what is real…….how about an oil spill, or what we can do to improve the job picture, and rebuild the American infrastructure.
Grade school stunts like this are really uncalled for, when all American’s need to bond as a society and country….sad blog!

DannyX While Beck’s viewership has declined as the summer season approaches, have you compared his ratings to those of the wonks on MSNBC? And those folks are on in prime time. perhaps you should watch his show sometimes yourself, you might learn something.
As for the hate, most of the hate emanates from the left although I will admit there are some right wing wackos out there as well. The real problem with trying to discuss positions on issues with someone from the left is when they feel they cannot win with logic, they are the first to start the name calling and the slurs. Glenn Beck is the right choice for the #1 spot even if it is his own list. The ridiculous propaganda that he spews is absolutely moronic. He does all these great exaggerations just so he can get good ratings and sell his books. Doesn’t matter to him that he is lying and what he is doing is further dividing our country. All he wants is the fame and the money but his viewers think he is telling the gospel truth.
I would have Karl Rove and Dick Cheney 2 and 3 tho. They were the force behind the Bush years. Bush really isn’t that bad of a guy, but he made big mistakes in listening to Rove and Cheney.

And as for the negativity on Sarah Palin, if the media did acurate reporting on the incompetence of the current administration instead of tap dancing around it or ignoring it completely then you would see the same type of drop. Now, that said, it does not mean that I think Palin is qualified to be President, it is just that she speaks what many on the right think.

Congrats to Town Hall and Glenn Beck. They created a list of no scientific merit and have managed to convince one political blogger (our man Kyle) that it’s anything more than a fantasy world.
That’s not to say that there are people that are disliked by individuals who consider themselves left-leaning, but everybody needs to read the descriptions; They’re hilarious. Palin is painted as a paragon of everything fair and good.
Beck naturally linked to this thing because it kisses his fanny.
Actually, I shouldn’t say the descriptions are hilarious. They’re conservative propaganda. It doesn’t describe at all why this people would be or should be disliked. No cursory examinations, folks. Just extremely inflammatory propaganda.
Take, for example, this part of the description of Coulter: “Ann’s bluntness, coupled with her effectiveness and habit of being right, has made her a burr in the saddle of the Left.”
At this point, I’m not sure if it’s meant to be a joke. If so, Kyle and others have fallen for it. If not, it’s scary that people are so committed to their political affiliation that they honestly believe the values attributed to the people on the list.

7. country (they have Iraq and that country next to it)
8. family (well, Cheny got a Lesbian daughter who has a wife and McCain’s wife is for gay marriage…what else lurks in the conservative families godly values)
9. themselves…yes, they hate the one is more righteous than the other (e.g. tea party people and Sarah)

When it comes to government handouts, Democrats want to combine those who WON’T with those who CAN’T in the name of getting votes. It’s called Just Say Yes (to everybody). JeffW, just a note. The reason the Dow was at 14000 and your spec homes were increasing by 70K between contract in closing was “cheap money” flooding the markets. It’s like maxing out your credit cards and saying; “I love my new BMW, my 50″ flat screen, and my newlt rennovated kitchen. It was a costly game of hot potato, and when Wall Street realized it had skimmed enough, it sold short. This type of event is the RULE, not the exception as far as America’s boom/bust economy, and interestingly enough, at has nothing to do with ANY president. Bush overspent on Iraq/Afghanistan, TARP, and tax breaks, Obama thinks the economy needs “stimulation”, but he is going about it via the same route that caused the 2008 collapse (print/borrow more money). The American people are on a hike, and instead of protecting themselves against snakes in the grass, they are debating which is more dangerous; a copperhead or a rattlesnake.

Unless the right has a self loathing complex, I think a list composed by about hatred is trash. Bush. It used to rule out Palin, but as inarticulate as she is, she saw which side of the right wing machine gets the grease and decided to quit politics and and become mouth piece for money. So again, its not the politicians its the Limbaughs, Becks, Malkins, Hannity’s that are drumming up feart and divisive tactics. The polititions on the right are just idiots that that repeat the lunacy.

As a Democrat, I love Sarah Palin. Every time she opens her mouth, the stupidity that follows reassures me about supporting Democrats.
Perhaps we can get a Palin/Coulter 2012 presidential bid? That would be a democrat’s dream-come-true!

just HATED it when Bush was president!
I HATED it when the DOW was at 14000. I HATED it when unemployment was at 5%. I HATED it when our debt hadn’t been quadrupled. I HATED watching my spec homes go up 70K between contract and closing.. I just couldn’t stand it any longer. Thankfully now we have a “smart”* president and everyone is happy. Bush Dow 14K Obama Dow 10K, Bush unemployment 5% Obama unemployment 10% Bush debt 10.3 Trillion Obama debt 13 Trillion.
What a lying hack conservative you are.
When Bush left office, the Dow was at 8000 (yes, it dropped from it’s high of 14,000). Bush inherited a jobless rate of 4.1% and doubled it to 8.1% when he left office. When Bush took office, the debt was at $5.1 Trillion dollars. Bush increased that to $10.6 Trillion. Bush created just over 1 million new jobs during his 8 yr presidency (Clinton 23 million).
Do a little research before posting and maybe you wouldn’t be exposed as a complete fool.

The left does not hate 100 Americans. The left hates everyone & anyone whom disagrees with them. They hate independents, conservatives, conservative democrats, moderates, basically anyone who takes them on based on their nose up in the air logic & facts. When you prove them wrong on that basis, you’re intolerant, hateful & they hate you. And the belong to the party of tolerance! Ha! I cannot wait to make up for voting for Barack Obama by putting a good conservative in the White House in 2012! Vote Republican! Proud Black Republican!

Set the record for most campaign fundraising trips than any other president in U.S. history.
In my first two years in office over 2 million Americans lost their job.
Cut unemployment benefits for more out of work Americans than any president in U.S. history.

Appointed more convicted criminals to administration positions than any president in U.S. history.
Set the record for the least amount of press conferences than any president since the advent of television.
Signed more laws and executive orders amending the Constitution than any president in U.S. history.

Presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history and refused to use the national reserves as past presidents have.
Cut healthcare benefits for war veterans.

Dissolved more international treaties than any president in U.S. history.
My presidency is the most secretive and unaccountable of any in U.S. history.
Members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in U.S. history (the ‘poorest’ multimillionaire, Condoleezza Rice, has an Exxon oil tanker named after her).
First president in U.S. history to have all 50 states of the Union simultaneously go bankrupt.
Presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud of any market in any country in the history of the world.

All-time U.S. (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign donations.
My biggest lifetime campaign contributor presided over one of the largest corporate bankruptcy frauds in world history (Kenneth Lay, former CEO of Enron Corporation).
Spent more money on polls and focus groups than any president in U.S. history.
First president in U.S. history to unilaterally attack a sovereign nation against the will of the United Nations and the world community.
First president to run and hide when the U.S. came under attack (and then lied saying the enemy had the code to Air Force 1)
First U.S. president to establish a secret shadow government.
Took the biggest world sympathy for the U.S. after 9/11, and in less than a year made the U.S. the most resented country in the world (possibly the biggest diplomatic failure in U.S. and world history).
With a policy of ‘disengagement’ created the most hostile Israeli-Palestine relations in at least 30 years.
Fist U.S. president in history to have a majority of the people of Europe (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and stability.

Failed to capture the anthrax killer who tried to murder the leaders of our country at the United States Capital building. After 18 months I have no leads and zero suspects.
In the 18 months following the 9/11 attacks I have successfully prevented any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States.
Removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in U.S. history.
In a little over two years created the most divided country in decades, possibly the most divided the U.S. has ever been since the Civil War.
Entered office with the strongest economy in U.S. history and in less than two years turned every single economic category heading straight down.

“As for whom the right hates? there is no logical reason for anything they hate. They simply hate whom they are told to hate by those on the top ten list above.”
This comment from early in the discussion says it all. Left-wingers (different in some way from legitimate, educated liberals) assume that there is no dialog to be had with anyone with conservative views, assuming apparently that there is no diversity of viewpoints among conservatives. We fear the destruction of this country by looters empowered by the left wing and well-meaning but clueless rich liberals, the Pelosi’s, Boxer’s, Schumer’s, etc. of the congress. We also believe that the President means what he speaks and writes; apparently left-wingers haven’t done their homework, have their heads in the sand, or agree that we should be a socialist nation. They are lazy, in denial, or traitors; you choose.
As to most hated liberals, the Jesse Jacksons and the many wannabes are not to be hated; they are just buffoons who have manipulated and exploited their less educated brothers and sisters. The villains are those who would undermine our way of life for continued political power….Pelosi, Reid, Hoyer, Schumer, Bloomfield, Kerry, or to benefit their boyfriend…..Frank.

@Pamela….give me one, just one specific incident that would validate Sarah Palin being a racist? Just one is all I ask. The true racists are the one’s that go around calling people racists. Anytime you have 98% of a race vote for a Presidential candidate just because of his race, then you have an example of racism. Fact! Now bring yours.

Palin isn’t the most hated by the Culture of Death party supporters…she is the most feared! And I love it! A woman who has a child and loves him instead of using forced birth control that Dems support (abortion)and call mercy/compassion for the child. Disgusting!
A woman who sticks to her convictions no matter the loons railing her. She is courageous and genuine…unlike the US Pres.

I am surprised Hannity isn’t #1! Even from a conservative standpoint I am sick of hearing about his contempt for Obama. However, I am a HUGE fan of O’Reilly and Beck and although I live in Austin, I will be making my way over to the Restoring Honor rally in DC. I have to represent the small percentage of conservative college students at UT who are mature enough to understand that their teachers aren’t usually unbiased.

“You gotta understand the simple fact that left wingers are the D students in college who take classes such as condom studies, hair weaving 101, philosophy of weed, jogging, how to make porn with a flip camera and the toughest one of all, remedial math.”
Nice try, but you’ll have to try harder; it is well-known that colleges, universities, and academia at large are liberal strongholds. My brother visited MIT and finding a Republican at MIT is about as fruitless as finding a single Supreme Court case Palin can name other than Roe v. Wade (for those of you who didn’t watch it on NBC or YouTube, that’s zero). However, the admissions ambassador offered that about a decade ago, “there were like, 4 or 5 college Republicans.”
In a survey of the 32 most elite institutions of higher educations, conservaturd analysts/whiners found they all had a heavily left-leaning bias. The list includes the entire Ivy League, as well institutions such as MIT and Stanford. And it’s from a Hannity-approved conservative source:
http://www.studentsforacademicfreedom.org/news/1898/lackdiversity.html
Here are some gems:
• “The overall ratio of Democrats to Republicans we were able to identify at the 32 schools was more than 10 to 1″
• “At no less than four elite schools we could not identify a single Republican on the faculty, such as at MIT.”
What do Republicans have, Liberty University and Glenn Beck University? Not that Beck U is accredited or anything. I guess there’s always BYU if you’re a Mormon. Other than that, it is well-known that civic and general knowledge have a left-leaning bias, which is why many conservatives gripe that “collej is just another liberal bastion, dudn’t learn you nuthin but liberal talking points!” Hence why conservatives rebelliously defied liberals by deciding not to attend institutions of higher education other than junior colleges to obtain “certificates” in areas like x-ray or ultrasound operation (but then hands those x-rays and ultrasounds off to real doctors ha ha ha). The current intellectual vacuum in the GOP was created by these boycotts of education (seriously, you attend protest rallies with actual tea BAGS hanging from your costume hats? And you’re led by someone named Dick Armey, are you TRYING to invite ridicule, mockery, and wide disrespect?!). You cannot say with a straight face that Republicans are anything but vastly outnumbered by Democrats at esteemed universities, to do so would be intellectually dishonest, and I think intellectual dishonesty is cause for expulsion at every school except Beck University (ask GOP candidate Scott McInnis).
