Enter your comments here What I don't understand is why ACORN or any other group getting Fed. Funds is not required to account to the Agency granting the funds. Does the Fed. Gov't. grant funds without any accounting? The stupid behavior of a few employees should not affect the funding of the entire organization. ACORN should have the opportunity via a Federal Audit to account for all Fed. Funds that way the taxpayer can determine if the funds were properly used

Kyle, I will show you the respect you deserve. Of course as you can see it is difficult.

The real problem, as I have expressed to before, that there are too many people in the Cult of Limbaugh and Beck. Back in during the Reagan Revolution, many of us were attracted to the underlying principles of limited government and libertarian ideals. In this world view, we value self-determination, which can only be realize where opportunity exists. The progress, thanks mostly to progressives but including enlightened conservatives from the Jack Kemp mold, has been tremendous, but there still exists large pockets of people who have been properly educated on these opportunities coupled with no shortage of small-minded angry white people working against it.

Here is the unfortunate consequence. If you value self-determination, then you have oppose government intervention. So things like affirmative action and welfare just do not fit. We can agree that there is no racist motivation behind that belief. However, consider that if your party is against those things that are supporting a signficant portion of the minority communities, it serves as an unintended invitation to racists to join with you.

People like Limbaugh and Glenn Beck see that group of people and reach out to them, egging them on. Many of my fellow Libertarians like these guys and I can understand why. When they aren't pandering the cretins in their audience, the can make a good case for conservative and libertarian causes. But I have always maintained the true conservatism as preached by Goldwater, Bill Buckley, Bill Safire, George Will, Thomas Sowell (before he started losing his mind) requires an intellect to get your mind wrapped around. I seriously doubt many in Fox News and Rush Limbaughs audience could read and hold a discussion on the Federalist Papers. One thing is obvious, that don't know what is in them. The concept of taxing citizens and using the money for bettering society is not so commie plot, Hamiliton wrote of it in the 30th Federalist papers. The opposition to such measures was expressed by the anti-federalist "Brutus". opposed this then. That question was asked and answered back then and embodies in the first line of Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution.

As Rush, et al, gathered these masses into the fold, the real message of Goldwater/Reagan has been clouded and obscured by racism and hatred of other Americans, who while liberal, still hold beliefs in common with our Founders such as Franklin, Hamilton, and Adams. Jefferson was not the only thinker, and even Jefferson would be appalled at the vitriol and lacked intellectualism (not to mention the disdain for science) found in the conservative camp today.

Someone somehow has to get us back on track. We have to put aside the hatred, the racism, the unfounded attacks on the opposition or Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid will continue their ineffectual leadership. The fact that the Republicans did virtually nothing to advance the cause - no balanced budget, no line item veto, no reform a al the Grace Commission, no overture toward the libertarians - shows how little those things mean to these people. Now as soon the Democrats took over, there they are marching on Washington with their leaders demanding the Democrats do what their own leaders refused to do when they had the House, 60 votes in the Senate, the White House, and the Supreme Court to back them. The last time we had effective Conservative leadership was the one session of Congress with the Contract with America. Then 2 years later they tried bring out the religious-reactionary agenda of Ralphs Reeds "The Contract with the America Family". It has been down hill ever since.

All due respect to Kyle, the man who makes the most sense on the pages of the AJC, and the only one who can truly attest to what goes on behind closed doors, is Bob Barr. If people paid more attention to him, we might get somewhere. The man just oozes facts and solid evidence while mostly staying away from harmful rheotoric. I am glad he is here.

Truthfully, my vote for Obama was more of a) protest against Palin (What? Wingnuts would have stayed home and give a guaranteed win to Obama if McCain had picked Romney? Which means they would have also lost many more Senatorial and Congressional seats, plus seats in the state legistlatures. Well, maybe they are that dumb!) and b) I think it was high time for a America to see an educated black man having opportunity and success in America. I now realize I should have followed my conscience and "thrown my vote away" casting it for Barr. I voted for Libertarians in ever elections except for Perot's run. I was proud of that fact.

Mccain is a democrat! He has more in common with them than he does with Reagan.

Ok, back with the name calling. I can see by ban coming!

Being and independent means you stand for nothing! What a RETARD!!!

I am fiercely Independent. I always spelling with a captital "I". What I stand for is my own independent voice. What I stand against is an entrenched sheep mentality of the two party system - found NOWHERE in the Constitution. General Washington hated the concept of parties, he truly believe all Americans should be Independents.

Let me tell you what two groups in America stand for nothing:

Democrats
Republicans

Any truly thinking American can only be an Independent. We have no allegiance to any party, our allegiance is only to the United States of America and its Constition. But above all what I stand for is to put both parties on notice that we will not vote blinding for one ticket or the other, we will vote for the candidate based on individual merit and for his willingness not to work for his party, but to do the work for The American People. Last election, Obama got my vote, but so did Johnny Isakson and Tom Price (Ok, Isakson was back in '04, but you get the point). For the record, if McCain did not get saddle with the ultra-partisan dumbass Palin, he would have gotten my vote, too.

David Axelfraud: Ok, Here is something you can go and cry to Kyle about you overgrown child - You are dumber than stump. Crackerville does not refer to white people in general. Crackers are a subset of southern culture from the South Georgia and North Florida coastline. (Here, educate yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_cracker). Sure they may be white, but they do not represent white people in general. Today, we use the term to refer to that segment of southern society that prides itself on being white and ignorant.

Now since I am white and married to a white woman from Brunswick Georgia, in other words an actual Cracker, how does that make me a bigot. I don't know you personally, but based on your postings, I bet you are indeed a resident of Crackerville.

Now go cry to your daddy and leave the discourse to knowledgeable people with intelligence.

(OK, Kyle, I apologize to you, but this guy is a piece of work and exactly the kind of "conservative" that sets the movement back)
