A few quick random thoughts on spring practice so far …
I’m sure Todd Grantham and his defensive coaches would rather have all their starters for those first couple of games of the season, but remembering how they had to scramble last year with early-season injuries I have a feeling that all this mix-and-match cross-training caused by the pending suspensions will pay dividends for the Dawgs down the road. … It’s looking more and more like the offensive line is likely to be a work in progress not just until August when true freshman (and likely starter) John Theus arrives, but well into the season. If there’s one aspect of the 2012 Dawgs that has me uneasy, it’s the OL, the performance of which will have a lot to do with the play of the quarterback and running game. … If you haven’t yet read the ESPN.com piece on Jarvis Jones, the thinking man’s linebacker, give it a look.
