Fan talk: G-Day surprises and the Aaron Murray ‘conspiracy’ theories

Let’s jump right into a sampling of recent Junkyard Mail …

Ken Crow writes: Bill, I really enjoy the Blawg and your down-the-middle approach to fandom. You’re not afraid to criticize when you think it’s warranted, but you remain supportive of Coach Richt and the program and don’t continually harp on the negatives. I also appreciate your obvious love for the school and your hometown of Athens. I really wanted to get to the Classic City for G-Day this year but wasn’t able to because of some family stuff. I enjoyed your report from the game and was encouraged by what you said about the quarterbacks, running backs and defense. So who surprised you most at G-Day?

Thanks, Ken. While I thought Jay Rome’s long touchdown catch-run was the highlight of the day, it wasn’t particularly surprising, as I’d expected him to do well. And I was pleasantly surprised by the play of the starting offensive line. But I think the biggest surprise for me probably was the play of linebacker Ramik Wilson, who led the Red team defense with seven tackles (two for loss) and an interception that he returned 19 yards. And, of course, there was the play where Reuben Faloughi knocked the ball away from Black QB Parker Welch and unheralded senior defensive lineman Ricky Lowe grabbed the ball in midair and ran it back 62 yards for a touchdown, probably the highlight of his playing career at UGA. Those are the moments that make G-Day games fun.

Ed from Avondale Estates writes: So I’ve heard [Isaiah] Crowell has grown up and looks great, [Keith] Marshall is the real deal and Boo Malcome had a great spring. I’ve even gotten the position-of-the-day updates on Richard Samuel. Why no [Todd] Gurley updates? I have high hopes for that kid and he’s gotten no spring press. What’s the word?

The word is he’s still in high school. Gurley was not one of the UGA signees who enrolled early this year. But the coaches are very high on his potential and while he’ll start out preseason camp in August behind all the other tailbacks, I have a feeling his talent will show pretty quickly. Perhaps even enough for him to avoid taking a redshirt season in a crowded tailback corps.

Richard Hong writes: I wish someone would write an article that would explain why the QB position is not a wide open competition to see who should be the starter for this year. Sorry, but my untrained eyes just don’t see why people think [Aaron] Murray is such a good QB. He throws a lot of interceptions, makes a lot of bad decisions, can’t get out of the pocket when he needs to, fumbles when he does run and CANNOT throw the ball on the run. So please, would someone tell me what I’m not seeing?

On a similar note, Michael Jones writes: I like Aaron Murray but I am concerned with his accuracy and his trend of turning the ball over in big games that absolutely kill the Dawgs. Have you heard of outside the box training for Murray to get him to be more accurate and protecting the football? He got us to the SEC Championship game, I just want to see him make the next step.

There's a reason national sports media are high on Aaron Murray. (Brant Sanderlin / AJC)

There's a reason national sports media are high on Aaron Murray. (Brant Sanderlin / AJC)

I know there’s a segment of Bulldogs fandom that’s very down on Murray and convinced that Mark Richt and Mike Bobo are blindly letting him hold on to the starting quarterback’s job despite the obvious talents of backups Hutson Mason and Christian LeMay. Some folks even believe there’s some sort of “conspiracy” to keep Murray in a job he doesn’t deserve. I suppose some fans are remembering how Jim Donnan fell in love with Quincy Carter and ran off all his other quarterbacks. But this situation is nothing like that one. There’s a reason Murray made some All-SEC teams and is routinely cited by national sports media as one of the best QBs in the conference. He was the SEC’s No. 2 passer, throwing for 3,149 yards and 35 touchdowns a season ago. He ranked second in passing yards per game, second in total offense and fourth in passing efficiency. Of the returning quarterbacks in FBS football, only Southern Cal’s Matt Barkley threw for more touchdowns (37) in 2011 than Murray. Yes, Murray threw too many interceptions last season and had a couple of very costly fumbles. Richt himself has noted Murray needs to do a better job of taking care of the football. But as I wrote when we discussed Murray in January, the argument can be made that his tendency to fumble or throw a pick 6 at the worst possible time might be at least in part attributable to the sketchy protection he was getting from Georgia’s erratic offensive line and, in the last couple of games, the lack of a consistent running attack. This year he’ll again open the season behind a questionable OL, but he should have a much more potent, consistent group of running backs, which Bobo has said he thinks will make Murray a better quarterback. And sheer experience should help Murray make better on-field decisions and improve his ball security. He’s a good on-field leader and showed in last year’s Florida game that he can make big-time throws in tough situations, especially those two fourth-down touchdowns. I know, the knock on him is that he’s yet to beat a really good team. And I’ll agree that Mason and LeMay both show a lot of potential. But, frankly, from what I’ve seen so far, neither one is ready yet to supplant Murray.

Devon Wade writes: Bill, I am a former Tucker Tiger and if you know anything about Ga. high school football you will know that Tucker High School has been a UGA pipeline for several years now. It is most definitely Dawg Country. However, when I graduated high school I landed at a small liberal arts college right outside of Columbia, Mo. (right in the middle of Tiger Country). My roommate during my entire time in college is a die-hard Mizzou fan, and of course I am a Dawg through and through. We have always joked around about whose team would win if the two ever faced. Well lo and behold the semester AFTER we graduate they become division rivals and I know he has been salivating with the recent suspensions of key players going into that game in Columbia (which I will be at with him). I am still confident that between now and then CMR can get some players to fill in the holes in the secondary and I think our front seven can get enough pressure to make [Mizzou quarterback James] Franklin more uncomfortable than he has ever been. I believe our defense is still more talented than theirs even without several starters. Should I have reason to still be confident that we can pick up the W in Columbia minus key players? Appreciate your consideration. Big fan of the Blawg.

Thanks. I tend to agree with you, Devon. While Georgia won’t enter the game against Missouri at full-strength, I think the Dogs’ defensive front seven will be formidable. And from what I saw last year of Mizzou’s defense, I don’t believe it’s yet SEC-ready.

Richard Judy writes: Enjoyed your comment about my hero, Fred Birchmore. I am a ’73 UGA grad, and just after graduating I hiked the Appalachian Trail from Maine back to Georgia. Fred and [son] Danny read an article I wrote in the old AJC Sunday Magazine and asked me to counsel them on their upcoming Georgia to Maine AT thru-hike. I was invited into the Birchmore home and quickly discovered what special people these were. Fred and Danny needed no advice from me, but they made me feel like a real friend. A few years back, when my daughter was a J-school student at UGA, she contacted Fred about doing a story for the old UGAzine publication. He treated her like royalty and said very kind things to her about her old man. Fred was a class act, the kind of man who deserved a century of high-quality living.

Thanks, Richard. You’re right that the Birchmores are a very special family and Athens and UGA are both much better off for them having been there.

Listen guys, while it’s true Mark Richt chose not to give any meaningful reps in games to Hutson Mason, that doesn’t mean Mark Richt lacks confidence in Murray’s ability to outshine Mason, it’s just a coincidence. There is no conspiracy. I do not believe it’s because Richt fears Mason beating Murray on the field.

To all the geniuses on this board, let me ask one question. How come, if Murray is so terrible, is he cited on many experts’ top 5 QB boards nationally. Obviously, these are experts who have made careers evaluating talent and they rank him up near Tyler Wilson, Matt Barkley, and company. Anyone can throw around stats to make their point, just as all the anti-Murray guys do. But explain how, when asked, the guys who get paid to know football all agree Murray is a great quarterback.

To make my post more clear: Anybody can cite statistics to make whatever point they want to. As the saying goes, “there are lies, damned lies, and then statistics”. The numbers people drum up against Murray are not convincing when compared to the backing of coaches/expert opinions, many of whom are unbiased.

Bonkers, Your point on Bobo’s play calling and Murray’s efforts inside the GA 20 yard line is on target. We had several good runs coming out on occasions and then we threw on first down for an interception. The UF game two years ago started out inside the 10 Bobo called a flat pass. UF intercepted for a td. Without that call we win without going into OT and lose. You have the whole game to be fancy. The last time we beat them Marino ran the ball 10 straight times for a score. They tied it up and then since we ran the ball so good to start with, play action caught them sleeping and we hit MOMASS for that long TD. Inconsistant play calling is a defensive key. Bobo is predictable.

Well Carter cost us three qb’s that played at Oklahoma, Auburn, and elsewhere. He was older and Donnan gave him the reigns. He won some great games and lost some bad games. As far as that SC Game anyone could have done better than he did that game. What was his record in three years? Did Richt not just tell him to go ahead and go pro and give the QB job to David Green? If so a good move. He would have caused disention on the team and UGA may not have won the SEC Richt’s second year. Carter was about Carter.

Notre Dame is # 34 in won/lost record the current 18-year period. If you are 25 years old and started playing and watching football at age 7, you haven’t seen Notre Dame do one blessed thing in your entire lifetime.

They get a special bye from the BCS where they get to play in a BCS Bowl if they accomplish a lackluster season.

18 lackluster seasons in a row.

This is the legacy of Notre Dame nowadays.

Face it.

130 wins in 18 years.

7 wins a year average for the current 18-year period.

89 losses in 18 years.

5 losses a year average for the current 18-year period.

Pardon me, but that is their average number of losses the current 18-year period.

5.

5 Losses a Year 18 consecutive seasons.

Notre Dame is not relevant.

Notre Dame is not dominant.

Notre Dame is not anywhere near Top 25 current 18-year period.

There is not 1 recruit who has seen Notre Dame have 1 single solitary good season.

The very best season in the current 18-year period that Notre Dame has accomplished is 3-Loss Season.

I’m sorry, but that ain’t good.

NBC’s TV contract with Notre Dame has been a complete and utter failure.

Bob Davie

George O’Leary

Tyrone Willingham

Charlie Weis

Brian Kelly

Abject failures as coaches at Notre Dame.

None accomplished so much as 1 good season.

Brian Kelly has gone 8-5 and 8-5.

Brian Kelly’s quarterback has had numerous turnovers from the quarterback position which have cost Notre Dame any semblance of respectability.

For this, Notre Dame’s athletic director acts as an equal to the commissioners of the 11 Football Bowl Subdivision conferences when they discuss BCS issues.

2-10 is the bowl record of Notre Dame the current 18-year period.

2 bowl wins in 18 seasons, Notre Dame today.

Notre Dame beat only hapless Hawai’i in the Hawai’i Bowl and hapless Miami of Florida in the Sun Bowl the current 18-year hapless period of Notre Dame Football.

Notre Dame has only 28 players in the NFL today.

Georgia, by direct comparison, has 39. Notre Dame would make a C, 71 grade, 71 percent of the number of NFL players that UGA has.

5-12-1 Notre Dame vs Southern California current 18-year period.

Including losing 9 of the last 10 games vs Southern California.

5-9 Notre Dame vs Michigan current 18-year period.

Including losing 5 of the last 6 games vs Michigan.

In the current 18-year period against their only 2 Rivals, Notre Dame has won a grand total of 10 of 31 games.

Brian Kelly’s hot seat is getting hotter by the minute, and as time shows, ND fans will only stand for mediocrity for so long.

Florida recruits see players struggle with the lifestyle at Notre Dame. Study religion, play football out-of-state since there aren’t any recruits in the state Notre Dame is located in, # 19 in US News and World Report Rankings for colleges when UGA is # 58, a very good showing by the way, and play on a Losing Football Team – and, make no mistake about it when you average 7 wins a season the entire current 18-year period, you are a Losing Football Program – especially if you are Notre Dame. Georgia tek is # 35 in case anyone thinks that is Harvard.

UGA was # 12 in the nation Rivals Recruiting Ranking 2012, Notre Dame # 20.

Now, today, in the Notre Dame Spring Game, all we really find is Notre Dame fans talking about the hot seat of their Current

Loser Coach Brian Kelly – HOTSEAT

And, what specifics are found about Brian Kelly getting Notre Dame the talent that they need, every Catholic thinking the best Catholic Football Players should attend Notre Dame, not Boston College, when all Notre Dame can do is to recruit out-of-state, recruit nationally they call it, since again there are no football players in-state for Notre Dame.

Well, what we read about is their nearly best defensive football player from the recruiting hotbed of Florida quit the team.

ATTRITION Notre Dame.

Brian Kelly recruited

AARON LYNCH, the headliner of his 1st recruiting class and key to Notre Dame recruiting in the state of Florida, which is just 1 of the top 2 recruiting states from where the top football players are located.

Aaron Lynch of Cape Coral Florida was given Scholarship Offers from 17 head coaches last year; notably Mark Richt was not 1 of the 17.

Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami of Florida, Ohio State, South Carolina, Auburn, and Notre Dame all offered, at least, a Scholarship to the headliner recruit signed by Brian Kelly last year Aaron Lynch, an All-America Defensive End with a penchant for sacking opposing Quarterbacks – something Notre Dame sorely needs if it is to beat teams like Southern California, Oklahoma, Stanford – for example this up-coming 2012 season.

I mean just

HOW GREAT IS NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL ?

Considering a player of this stature from this state, Florida, which is so crucial to Notre Dame’s ultimate success or failure to recruit nationally, just up and says, eh this ain’t so great football here at Notre Dame, think I will just go to South Florida, who beat UGA in the bowl game the year before last 6-10.

Michael Floyd, a senior wide receiver, this time last year got a DUI. He had put up over 1,000 yards receiving and was the kingpin in Brian Kelly taking the job at Notre Dame. What did Brian Kelly do ? He put him on indefinite suspension for the Spring and Summer last year and then, August 2, re-instated him to the team.

Nice Brian Kelly, you LOSER COACH on the HOTSEAT.

Party School ranking for Notre Dame ? Uh, I don’t think so.

Notre Dame has not won the Fulmer Cup, nor are they # 8 all-time in Fulmer Cup as is Mark Richt.

Notre Dame does not have 24 attrition list of scholarships like this Aaron Lynch. You just cannot find these goings-on at Notre Dame, never have, never will. UGA ? Yeah, we allow it here and make excuses for it. That’s what the homer-crowd here at UGA wants. That and positive news.

Great Recession has had a profound effect on the Rust Belt, and make no mistake about it, Notre Dame is the Rust Belt.

Not just the Great Recession but Census Reports clearly indicate an Exodus of eligible age group for recruiting for football from the Entire Rust Belt Region. 25 percent Declines in this age group, indicates that youngsters who are beginning to look for jobs and colleges to prepare them for jobs, are leaving the Rust Belt. This has been on-going trend now for 2 full entire decades, if not longer.

There’s anecdotal evidence that the future isn’t as bright as it once was for Notre Dame football.

Let’s see, the current National Championship Picture is that The SEC sent two of its teams to play each other, again, to determine who is the National Champion.

SEC won NC.

SEC has won The National Championship in Football every single season in a row now for Six (6) Consecutive College Football Seasons, and The SEC when it is playing for the BCS National Championship in the BCS Era has never not won The National Championship Game when it was allowed to play in it.

Indeed, Notre Dame of The South is what The University of Georgia is faced with, only Notre Dame plays real football teams this up-coming season, unlike The University of Georgia, my alma mater where we only play 1 game all 12 games regular season long against a team who made any top 25 poll.

If you want positive news about a football program who

CANNOT BEAT THE TOP TEAMS, please dream up some post on the topic and post away.

I’ll read it. That is because I am not a small person who only listens to those who agree with me, and trust me on this, there are hundreds of us who feel as I do, while you sit there whining about the fact that no one posts anything positive about our football program. Post something positive – instead of JUST PERSONAL ATTACK in reply – like you think you are a GREAT DEBATER by IGNORING THE FACTS of our football program.

That’s because there a few vocal peons of people who want to hear only their opinion and their opinion is what ?

Uh no.

Their opinion is that it is a Compliment to call UGA the Notre Dame of the South in Football.

The Murray bashers baffle me. The reason for the TO’s in big games is Murray is a competitor and trying to make a play. With ZERO running game against good defenses its UGA’s only chance. IF CMR ever develops a running game, you will see Murray have a AA season. However, I don’t have much confidence in CMR to develop a true running game. I don’t even know if he believes you need a running game. I’ve never seen any signs that he does.

Conspiracy Theory :
_________________

There is no Conspiracy Theory ?

Huh ?

Mark Richt doesn’t give one hoot about beating top teams, not one. Never has.

In his 1st season as our head coach, David Greene beat the team that made it to # 4 in the nation, the vols. Mark Richt stated on the sidelines : “We knocked the Lid off this Georgia Bulldogs’ Football Program.” He LOST Four (4) Games the same season, in which David Greene beat the vols. David Greene was NOT recruited by Mark Richt. David Greene was already here. David Greene, Hall of Fame Coach Jim Donnan, who lost 19 games his 5 years here and was fired for it compared to 21 losses by Mark Richt his current 5-year period by direct contrast – Jim Donnan said that if he had not redshirted David Greene 2000, that he would still be UGA’s Head Coach.

Certainly, the players that did well in Mark Richt’s 1st half of his tenure, were Jim Donnan’s players. Those teams had players who did win games for us.

Coaching the 1st half of Mark Richt’s era, also cost us excruciating Losses.

Ok, I get it you are tired of the same old facts that Mark Richt is 3 wins in 16 games against teams who made it to the top 10, like the vols in 2001.

Maybe when you formulate a response to the fact that he hasn’t beat the teams who made it to the Top 10 in his 11 years to-date, and this season faces only 1 of the 12 regular seasons’ games a team who actually made it to any top 25 poll, then you wouldn’t have to re-read this in reply to A PERSONAL ATTACK of me – ignoring the over 300 others to this same blog, daily, saying the same back to you.

Do you really think that they would not have TOLD YOU MARK RICHT has won 3 of 16 games in his 11 years in this blog here again today, had I not done the research and provided you every game and the result ?

Apparently, that is exactly what you think.

What you are left with is over 300 posters telling you the same as I, and I am to blame.

I certainly don’t want my alma mater to lose 13 of 16 games against teams who made it to the top 10. You cannot make that stick that I do; no one believes you. So, Why do You Write That ?

Because you are such a small person that you actually think that my analysis of the recruiting in-state here in Georgia by Mark Richt last season compared to Nick Saban and Kirby Smart’s recruiting in-state here in Georgia would never be known, had I not done it.

WHAT ABOUT THE RECRUITS WHO SIGNED WITH ALABAMA ?

They NEVER READ my analysis of it, after the fact.

They DECIDED that I was right.

I merely studied it and calculated it; then presented it.

I believe you believe you are up against a formidable opponent; and, must ban me, censor me because I am bad for UGA recruiting telling the truth of our program.

Well, I have told you that you are the reason we lose these recruits in-state, because you say we are great under Mark Richt and cite really weak won/lost argument without regard to the teams who actually earned top 10.

Every single season, all these teams beat teams who make the top 10.

They win the NC.

We sit at home and are dealt another 7-4 bowl record against inferior opponents, while I watch them win the NC.

You have no come-back to the point.

We don’t beat the teams who make it to the top 10.

Mark Richt specifically doesn’t give a crud about winning. It is not, and Jesus is, what he is all about. If he did, he would NOT play Aaron Murray every snap of every game.

ALL I HAVE EVER ASKED is that the position be opened up and when he demonstrates off-field LACK OF LEADERSHIP and on-field heebie-jeebies from his off-field exploits, that he be treated the same as every other player, and be sat down some and let someone else play.

If we saw the other quarterbacks such as Christian LeMay be told he has a legitimate chance to start vs Buffalo game 1 – and why not ? – then, Aaron Murray would become more focused.

And, you would not see Aaron Murray run up his stats vs pitiful opponents, and fail all 9 of his games against teams who made top 25.

All 9 of those games, the OTHER QB was better than Aaron Murray.

Mark Richt doesn’t care about that.

That’s not important to Mark Richt AT ALL.

You are kidding yourself if you think Mark Richt cares about beating the top teams.

Thomas Brown

There is NO EVIDENCE that Mark Richt gives one hoot about beating the top teams when every word out of his Mouth, is that ALL he cares about is Jesus.

There is NO EVIDENCE that Mark Richt gives one hoot about beating the top teams when every game of the last NINE (9) in a row, he has LOST to SEC teams who earned a winning SEC record, dating all the way back to Kentucky game in 2007.

There is NO EVIDENCE that Mark Richt gives one hoot about beating the top teams when every game of the last SEVEN (7) in a row, he has LOST to any team in any conference who made it to any top 10 poll, dating all the way back to Auburn in 2006.

Both Mason and Lemay would have posted as good of stats as Murray or better if given the same opportunity and playing time. I also believe that Mason would have won some games Murray did not and not sure if Lemay is ready after watching G Day, but without a doubt has the ability to improve and be much more than Murray could ever dream. A 10th grader was better than Murray in high school and results show the stats of the 10th grader were much better than that of Murray. Same stands true at GA but for whatever reason: Conspiracy: maybe some should check the family trees of both families and see if they have the same limbs and or did Richt get to know mrs murray while in miami. Cannot beat Top Ten Teams 2) Losing depth on Team due to suspensions, transfers, and just leaving Football entirely 3) CMR afraid to make changes; ie Willie Martinez (forced to do so) and present staff members!! 4) CMB not being creative enough to win the big games 5) CRG has become complacent and is losing top talent to other SEC schools; ie only 5 of the top 30 players in the state committed to UGA last year!! 6) CWF is showing that he is a horrible recruiter of OL; ie no top in-state OL committed to UGA last year, only one OL commitment so far this year and losing out on the Max Garcia sweepstakes!! 7) S&C Head Coach is too old school; ie too many hamstring issues!! 8) Possibly entrenched in another (5) years of “what could of beens”!! C’mon Guys. do your job!!!

Murray has not beaten a good team yet..The qb is always going to take the blame.. Poor offensive lines and no running game will never help Murray.. Murray will not have the year he had this past season. The OL is cost Uga 5 to 6 games. I hope MR redshirts all the new RBs to let them have a chance to have a better OL to block for these rbs.. CMR always wastes players careers by not giving them a redshirt.. We have Malcome, IC, and Samuel.. Let the other backs be the rbs of the future..Maybe then, CMR will put together an OL.

Penn State strength and conditioning coach now at GA is a known to protect grown men that abuse little boys. He is a sick fk and should not have ever been discussed regarding a job a GA.

Every season Uga is always short of OL, CBs, LBS, etc.. Then after the season MR tries to flood the team during recruiting with the position the team is thin at. this sht causes players to quit or transfer.. Man CMR is a genious… SAME OLE SHT, DIFFRNT YR…

The Notre Dame/UGA comparison was brought up at the end of Bill’s last article (by a poster). I think it’s a valid comparison. Both fan bases love to talk about the past…neither program has won a national title in quite a while…Notre Dame does have a huge edge on the tradition side, as UGA’s tradition history is housed mostly in their own minds…no one fears traveling to Athens to play at Sanford…

As long as the 3 stooges are running UGA’s offense, there will be no championships in Athens. Richt and his stubborn, i know everything attitude has gotten UGA into the mediocre state it is in now. His stubborn ass keep Martinez around for at least 2 more years than he should have been allowed to stay, and it cost UGA a chance at a National Championship. His stubborn ass handed the starting Q.B. job to Cox because he said he deserved it because he had been in program for 5 years. That idiotic thinking set the program back 2 years. His stubborn holier than GOD attitude towards Mett, has put the program in it’s current state. Where was this liar Richt when it came to helping Mett. by giving him a 2nd chance and learning from his mistakes?? Richt wanted to give the job to Murray so badly that he ran Mett. off, just so there wouldn’t be a Q.B. controversy. And now he is going to redshirt Mason, so he will be out of the way of Murray. These are all moves made by the phony ass Richt and Bobo, so they want have to deal with playing another Q.B., and their hand picked boy want have to beat out anyone for the job. And to all of you Murray supporters that continue to use this excuse for all of his turnovers” to not having a good running game”. Your argument is B.S. Against S.C.last year. I.C. was running all over S.C.defense, and yet Murray still has a pick six, and he still fumbles the ball for a T.D. because he is terrible at ball security. Same story against LSU. First drive of 2ND half with UGA in lead, he runs with the ball and doesn’t get hit hard, yet he fumbles the ball and turns the whole damn game around. Then against MS in bowl game with UGA firmly in control, what does your boy Murray do? Throws a pick 6 because his pass is 5 yards behind the receiver. This wonderboy has no accuracy, and he has no arm strength, and he is the worst Q.B. in the SEC when it comes to ball protection. Yet Richt and Bobo sit there and defend this loser time after time. Richt once again lied to UGA fans when he stated that the starting Q.B. between Murray, and Mett. would come down to who protected the ball, and didn’t turn it over. My GOD, this guy is such a liar and a phony.Yet all UGA fans love the guy. Richt learned from the biggest liar in college football, Bobby Bowden. This guy was the biggest used car salesman there ever was. The difference is that Bowden could recruit and he won championships, Richt can’t do either one anymore. So keep cheering for the 3 stooges UGA fans, but unfortunately, Florida, Bama, LSU, and S.C will get the last laugh at the stooges!!

With the contract extensions recently given I’m afraid The Dawgs are in more alot more of the recent same. As long as the East is weak we may end up with a winning record then get destroyed in The SECC Game and the subsequent bowl game.

Once UT, UF, Auburn get their act together (and they will much quicker than we ever have) the winning seasons will be over. This strikes me as a major waste of time. McGarity must see something we don’t. On the other hand maybe we feel something he doesn’t.

Alvin Kamara in with T Matthews and R Foster. In no way is Alvin Kamara going to sign with GA. So if they all three go together, GA will lose T Matthews.

The CMR formula never changes. Fancy qbs, wide receivers, and undersized running backs. Alabama, LSU, Florida etc. come to town and the offensive and defensive lines get shreaded. See, Bama v. Georgia (35 successive points in the first half against Georgia’s bogus number one ranked team). The lines, the size of the running backs, and NCs are the difference between Georgia and Alabama.

Well, I can only hope this season will be an obvious statement one way or another. I doubt it goes Richt’s way again. But if the scheduled teams are as weak as I read then he can get another winning season and keep his job.

Damn, where can I get a job like that !?

Murray is great when playing Dayton State College and Night Program Technical School, but when the big boys come calling, there is a big drop off. Great players define themselves in the big moments, not the practice games. He has yet to do that on a consistent basis

Hutson Mason owns the state of Georgia passing records.

1) Mason has 4 of the top 10 passing games in the history of Georgia football
2) Mason is #4 on career passing yards (over 8000 in 2 seasons)
3) Mason is #1 in best yards passing for a season in the history of Georgia football

Yes, there is a reason Richt will not rotate Mason with Murray in games.

Murray will statistically lose, like he does every G-day when he goes head to head against other UGA QB’s.

Richt doesn’t even put Mason is when Murray throws 3 interceptions, or when the team is leading by 30+ points.

Mason only played 30 plays in 2011, he burned a red shirt, for 30 non-significant plays.

I have given up hope that UGA will win a NC under Richt.

His early teams were very competitive but the coaching became stale.

My only hope is that UGA somehow catches lightning in a bottle and have several bounces go our way.

Good luck to the Dawgs in 2012.

They’ve been keeping records from 1973. Hutson Mason has the state record for touchdown passes in a season since 1973. Mason threw 54 td’s in 1 season.

Mason outthrew Murray 2 to 1 in td’s over the 3 Spring games in 2012 (mason 4 td’s, Murray 2). Mason hit on more passes too (Mason 60%, Murray 50%).
