If you’re a Georgia football season ticket holder and you haven’t made your annual contribution to the Hartman Fund, better get down to the post office, go online or get on the horn to the Georgia Bulldog Club offices in Athens, because today’s the deadline. You can find out all the details here.
Contributions sent via snail mail must be postmarked no later than Feb. 15.
Even if you’re not going for season tickets, a minimum $100 contribution to the Hartman Fund will get you a 2012 football ticket application and will make you eligible to request single-game tickets to five of the seven home games. With the Dawgs looking to open the season as possibly a Top 5 team, some folks might want to scramble aboard the bandwagon.
Then again, whether you can find five home games on Georgia’s 2012 schedule that you consider worth the cost of the ticket plus a contribution is another question.
Along those lines, I had a note from reader SavannahDawg, who was going ahead and making his contribution but was grumbling about the 2012 home schedule, which admittedly isn’t that exciting: Buffalo, Florida Atlantic, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Georgia Southern and Georgia Tech.
He complained that “the cupcake portion of that schedule is particularly lame. If sticking to an eight-game conference schedule in the expanded SEC means we have to give up playing Auburn every year just so we can keep the likes of the Florida Atlantic Owls coming to Athens for a paycheck, I’m going to be seriously rethinking my commitment to buying season tickets every year. Better to make a smaller donation and get single games, or even cherry-pick the best games on StubHub. Even paying scalper’s prices for those games, it’ll end up costing me less than season tickets when you factor in the Hartman Fund.”
SavanahDawg makes a valid point and I’m wondering if the SEC athletic directors’ aversion to adding a ninth conference game might not end up costing them financially down the road in terms of getting fans in the stands.
What do you think? Would a schedule that kept the cupcakes and lost Auburn as an annual opponent make you any less likely to buy tickets to games at Sanford Stadium?

Ok, this confirms it. TDF lives in his Momma’s basement and he really does work food service. A shame (for his Mom). See you later, Still-Koolaid.

This is laughable. The Presidents and AD’s long ago gave up giving a rat’s behind for the ordinary fan that cannot shell out thousands of dollars each year. UGA has been number one in this category.

Yup, I’ve already made my move away from season tickets to cherry picking games. A result of cupcake teams (AD) for cupcake offensive linemen coached by a moron (BoBo) who feeds defenses a steady diet of 3rd and long up-the-middle or short side toss-sweeps, all headed by an apathetic CEO (Richt) who only managed wins against teams with either a losing record in the SEC or teams in in a sub-tier league (ACC or 1-AA). Not exactly the kind of action worth the average $100 per ticket price I’ve paid for more than 15 years, IMHO.

Until we played ASU a few years ago we haven’t played any tough outta conference opponents since Michigan 1965. Boise St was nice last year except for getting blown out.
Would love to do like Bama and play a tough non-conference team each year. They play Michigan for example next year. We start with BUFFALO. Gee-bus. They also started season with VT and Clemson recently. Saban believes you get better by playing tough opponents. Coach Richt and Ga AD are you listening??? I’m not gonna continue donating huge sums of money without a return on my investment (good games).

I have had season tickets for 6 years and did not renew. It’s sad but I can no longer justify the expense with the home schedule they have. The fans of this program have been loyal to a fault, even with the prediction of a successful season I am not willing to pay to watch them club a baby seal. Pay the scalpers the big for the big games, watch big games on TV while the Dawgs play the like of Buffalo.

cmac22,
I agree next season will be a joke………………no different (luck of the draw) from last season.
The Dawgs will likely win most games and lose big time in the bowl game…………..hmmmmmmmmm.
think there is a plan in place for winning during the season but unable to beat any real team?
Yep, commend Pres. Adams, McGarity, Richt and Bobo for this entire mess.

ahahahahahah man you are a retard. in the past 7 years bama got a total of……… 4 top ten players from Ga. while in that same period UGA got 31. hmmmmmmm………
Wonder which is better??? 31 or 4????
Keep going by the proven flawed star system if you want. Just shows how dumb you are!!

The DA claims that UGA got 31 top players out of GA (most stars) compared to 4 for ALA and then says that the star system is flawed.
You can’t make this stuff up!
