Fan talk: Dawgs have a chance to prove they’re for real

The battle of the quarterbacks will pit Georgia's Aaron Murray ... (Associated Press)

Two very similar, evenly matched teams are meeting Monday in the Outback Bowl’s pairing of conference runners-up, which is why Georgia’s favored by a slim 3.5 points.

Both teams are strong defensively, with Georgia ranked third in the nation and Michigan State ranked fifth. Both teams have capable passing games but also have been productive on the ground. The Spartans have the more experienced QB in senior Kirk Cousins, but Georgia’s Aaron Murray looks to be more mobile. MSU has ace receiver B.J. Cunningham while Georgia has Orson Charles and Malcolm Mitchell. Georgia would seem to have a slight edge in the ground game if Isaiah Crowell holds up, and the Dogs tend to play better a) on the road and b) in bowl games.

Still, it’ll likely come down to which defense forces a turnover or two. I think Jarvis Jones and company will make the difference and get Georgia’s 2012 off to a great start.

And that’s exactly what’s on the mind of one reader in our holiday week Junkyard Mail …

... against Michigan State's Kirk Cousins. (Associated Press)

... against Michigan State's Kirk Cousins. (Associated Press)

Garrett Kee writes: Hey Bill, hope your Christmas was great and your New Year’s will be fantastic, hopefully watching a lot of football! I wanted to see what you thought on this. I think this could be one of the Dawgs’ most important games of the year in regards to a couple of things. Obviously, a win in any bowl gives you an edge for the upcoming year and gives your team a boost. From what I’ve read, a win over #13 Michigan State would put us in the pre-season Top 10. The most important thing I believe is to show that the Dawgs did steadily improve throughout the whole year. Let’s face it, the three best teams we played this year, Boise, Carolina and LSU, we all lost, so it has fueled naysayers that Georgia really didn’t get any better, they just got better because their “cupcake” schedule allowed them to. I feel like if we could come out with a win — doesn’t have to be a statement win — it would help reassure the whole Bulldog Nation that Georgia will be ready to make a run in 2012. Go Dawgs!

If Georgia doesn’t get hit too badly with underclassmen leaving early for the NFL, I have a feeling the Bulldogs may enter the 2012 season as a Top 10 team even without a win in the Outback Bowl, thanks to a combination of returning talent and a favorable schedule. But you’re certainly correct that notching the season’s 11th victory against a Top 20 team would improve Georgia’s image and make up for the 0-2 start in terms of the national media — as well as bolstering support in the Bulldog Nation.

Harrison Gaines writes: Bill, like all Georgia fans I’m pleased with how the revised 2012 schedule worked out, but I’m wondering where the conference goes from here. I keep reading conflicting things about the likelihood of a nine-game conference schedule in the future. On the one hand, I’d much rather see Georgia play Alabama than Buffalo. But adding another conference game probably would make it tougher for the SEC champion to make it to the BCS title game and would mean fewer home games some years. What do you think?

With nonconference schedules already set for several years and the buyouts from them rather expensive, I don’t think adding another conference game is likely to happen for a while, if ever. I know that sticking with the current eight-game model would mean long gaps between meetings with teams from the other division. And I have heard the argument that eventually going to a nine-game conference schedule would help TV ratings (and likely boost SEC licensing fees) with every team eliminating one cupcake and playing another SEC team. But as UGA athletic director Greg McGarity has pointed out, for schools like Georgia and South Carolina and Florida that have an in-state BCS nonconference rival they play every year, the nine-game model would really be limiting. And, frankly, as long as Georgia and Auburn play every year, I’m fine with only seeing the Hogs or the Maroon Bulldogs a couple of times per decade.

Trey Jarrard writes: I know that currently Dawg fans everywhere are concerned with the bowl game, recruiting, scheduling, and who we will lose to the NFL draft, but one question cries out for an answer every single year and we never get it. During Mark Richt’s tenure at UGA, the offensive line is plagued with injuries year in and year out. We get some of the best recruits in the country, and it’s not that these guys don’t live up to their potential, but rather they get injured in practice before they ever really get a chance to play to their potential. At what point should the coaching staff step back and start asking some serious questions? Are we doing the right drills? Strength and conditioning? Every year it seems like our O-line is supposed to loaded, but before the first game we’re decimated and relegated to playing backups for the rest of year. Now this year, Ben Jones and crew stepped up, but it was the same exact story as every other year before the season started. It’s one thing if these guys get hurt in a game like Dallas Lee, but it’s a whole different issue when they’re never making it on the field. I was just wondering if I’m the only one that’s noticed this yearly preseason evaporation of our offensive line?

The offensive line situation during Richt’s tenure hasn’t always been quite as dire as you paint it, but you’re not the first fan I’ve heard ask that question. In general the OL is an area that tends to see a lot of physical wear and tear. I think perhaps the tremendous size of Georgia’s offensive linemen in recent years has been a factor — particularly in the case of Trinton Sturdivant, whose knees didn’t appear capable of supporting his playing size — and in general UGA’s conditioning wasn’t what it should have been before this season. I’m encouraged, however, that Georgia was able to make it through this season with overall improved OL play despite a severe lack of depth. Looks like new OL coach Will Friend was a great hire.

PAC Man writes: It amuses me that whenever UGA has a modicum of football success, its delusional fan base starts crowing about “them Dawgs” getting back where they belong. Come off it! Outside your little corner of the country Georgia is not viewed as a major football program and never has been! You’re not at the same level as a traditional power like USC! You’re not even up there with Texas, Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan or Oklahoma! Get real and accept that you’re a midlevel program that rides on the coattails of LSU and Alabama!

I hate to burst your West Coast bubble, PAC, but it’s not just UGA fans who consider Georgia a major program. Just this week, Forbes magazine ranked the Top 10 “most valuable” college football teams in America (based on revenue generated) and Georgia placed seventh, behind Texas, Notre Dame, Penn State, LSU, Michigan and Alabama. Rounding out the Top 10 and trailing the Dogs were Arkansas, Auburn and Oklahoma. Your mighty Trojans didn’t make the list.

The best indicator os a school’s worthiness is looking at the entire span of that school’s history. I believe that Alabama, Southern Cal ( the REAL USC) and Penn. State and UGA are the ALL TIME …………………ALL TIME …………….ALL TIME BOWL GAME WINNERS.

Shake it, twist it, spin it anyway that you desire, haters, UGA is just one game below Penn State (in third place) for wins. Pretty decent company for a “low level, obscure, hidden, out of sight out of mind program”. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ???

As for BRAND $$$$ AWARNESS ………………….UGA is only behind Ohio State and I believe Texas for the REVENUE that is created by their BRAND, as measured by apparel sales, logo licensing contracts, etc. MONEY TALKS and SMOKE walks, haters.

Another way to compare, is to view the Sun Bowl in 2011 and their $2.2 million team pay out and compare that to the Outback Bowl and their $7 million pay out.

Bill, you can’t smell a Tech-mite behind that “PAC Man” handle? Key words: delusional, midlevel, coattails, etc.

But, to be fair, what else can a techie talk (write) about? 1 win in 11 years? NCAA Probation, El Paso?

Thus, some of them just hide behind some obscure handle, or pretend to be a fan of a team that has actually given us trouble lately.

This game should give more insight as to whether Crowell has the mettle needed at RB or not. He is supposedly healed up … over his virus, etc.
Hopefully we won’t see him limping off the field in Tampa.

Way to burst PAC Man’s bubble, Bill, I love it! I sincerely hope we get Orson Charles and Bacarri Rambo back next year. With Crowell and Marshall in the backfield and a couple new guys up front to give us some depth at OL (something EVERY tems needs, because as you pointed out, those guys get banged up – it’s the nature of these positions), I think we will truly see a return to the kind of success UGA fans expect. So glad Richt shut up most of his detractors this year as I truly believe he is the right man for the job. Great character, great mentor for these young men, and a great football coach – who could ask for more? I also like Bobo but I think he needs to work on making in-game adjustments and more imaginative play-calling (better in the last few games). Those were, incidentally, the same complaints I used to have about Vince Dooley :) Go Dawgs!! Let’s go take Sparty DOWN!

As a coach i can tell you that Oline issues sometimes are not due to lack of conditioning and strenght, ligament injuries and shoulder injuries are from the constant pounding they take. You have to undestand you CANNOT condition and Tendon or a Ligament. I do wonder if we should not implement some type of SERIOUS yoga or some type of martial arts stretching regiment, hell the martail arts would help with all aspects of the game look at Herschel.

That PAC person is a definite Techie. No one at USC has the passion to jump on an Atlanta paper where the Dawgs are being discussed. Those people don’t even tailgate, showing up an hour or two before the game. Pathetic Tech fans are funny having to pose as fans of other schools.

@bring the pain you make some really good points regarding Tendon and Ligaments. Martial arts are a great way to condition your body and mind for the physical and mental toughness you need on the OL or anywhere on the team. Plus getting to hit folks helps hone the “killer instinct” needed to play, and getting hit and learning how to take a hit helps build toughness and the understanding that just because you got hit doesn’t mean you’ve lost . Another thing that really helps is jumping rope..I promise I’m not making that up great for conditioning and flexibility.

If the 2011 version of the UGA football team were “for real” they would have beaten a couple of top 25 teams. Here we are at the last game of the season and we are still waiting. 13 games are plenty to already proven they are “for real”. They parlayed an easy schedule into 10 wins without a single one

13 NATIONAL TITLES – 22 SEC TITLES!!!!

I think the UGA/Sparty match-up is one fo the better match ups this bowl season.

In fact – I have debated to my Dog friends that UGA is the Michigan State of the SEC.

Both are regionally respected – but are not considered nationally elite.
Michigan State has 4 recognized National Titles
UGA has 2 recoginzed National Titles
Both teams – historically speaking – are rated the 4th or 5th best team in their perspective conferences.
Neither team is considered NATIONALLY as an elite football power – yet are fairly consistently competitive.

I am rooting for UGA – but think Michigan State is going to win this game.
Why?
1. UGA lost to the only really good teams they had to play this year – and sturggled to beat Florida and Tennessee….. these teams sucked.
2. Michigan State had the harder schedule – and actually beat some good teams.

I think UGA will be in position to be a really good team next year – but I do not think Richt, one of my favorite coaches – is National Tilte Coach material.

For the record Georgia is #6 for most bowl games played and has a higher winning percentage than Alabama who has only played in 11 more games making them #1.

LSU’s 2007 NC is a joke. No team that lost to Kentucky and Arkansas on the last game of the year is a NC. Everyone knows Georgia was a much better team that year but had to settle for a #2 ranking becuase of Kirk H.. Alabama does not deserve to be in the NC becuase they are not SEC CHAMPS and played a weak schedule, Another joke.

PAC Man wore himself out at the Chip Towers article about the 2012 schedule…with quite inane and asinine rants. I like to read the newspapers from around our opponent’s areas, before and after the games (unlike PAC, I never comment). Every team we played this year (coaches, players, writers, most fans) thought of the UGA game as a ‘challenge’ or ‘big game’. Every article I read showed a high regard and respect for UGA as an institution, the team and coach Richt. The St Louis Post-Dispatch a few days ago said about Mizzou’s schedule, “…opening SEC play with the SEC East Champs a daunting task…” No, we’re not quite irrelevant.

A nine game SEC schedule would be bad. It would be just one more game for half the conference to lose and drop in the polls. We beat up on each other enough as it is. It would definitely put us at a disadvantage compared to other conferences. They don’t all play each other every year in the Pac 12 or Big 12 either.

Just to play a little Devil’s advocate; given that we have the ‘biggest’ O-line in all of football. Entering the season it was going to be a main strength. I just don’t think they measured up this season, for the most part. EG can’t open a hole for a short yardage run between the tackles for Thomas; too many sacks/hurries for Murray. Coach Friend didn’t have near the depletion due to injuries and attrition that Searels had to deal with a couple years ago.

Goes without saying that a bowl victory can do wonders for a program. Yes, it will help ease some of the criticism; except for a few seemingly always disgruntled ‘fans’. 3 1/2 points is almost a tossup. IF we have a decent running game, I agree, it might come down to which D gets the most turnovers. IF we have a dominating running game, 3 1/2 won’t cover it. I just hope the Dawgs aren’t down there relaxicating too much. They’re gonna need to play physical for four quarters to have a chance.

Goooo Dawgs! And GATA against Mich St!

duronimo : UGA has not beat many good teams in the last 2-3 years, but let’s not act like that is a long-term trend.

We beat VT, a top-5 Hawaii, a good Wisconsin team, a pretty good purdue team led by Orton, and a decent FSU team in bowls in the Mark Richt era.

We also beat highly-ranked UT teams 3 times and beat some very good Auburn teams in the regular season, not to mention the road win against BAMA a few years ago and the regular season win over Boise a few years ago.

Take out UF and the recent lean times, and we routinely beat good teams.

LawDawg yes UGA isn’t worried about those PAC-12 teams and USC in particular? Well why did McGarity tuck his tail and run as fast as he could from Oregon? USC sucks for sure! UGA would just beat them like a rented mule right? Murray would light them up for 400 yards because those PAC-12 teams have never seen a passing team. I bet I Crowell would run for 200 yeards too because the PAC-12 teams have never seen Speed like Crowell.

Still@theKool … McGarity didn’t “tuck tail and run”. You just showed yourself to be either an idiot or completely ignorant. Going to Oregon was a logistics nightmare for the team. It was a PITA for fans. Just too far. He stated that during and after game week. And, many fans complained about it being too far. He also stated the reward was minimal even with nat’l TV, due to our not recruiting at all in that area; nor was it likely a recruit from the left coast to even consider UGA. He further stated that we’d try to get other ‘major’ programs on our schedule, but a little closer to home. As has been stated multiple times, OOC schedules are made years in advance. One cannot just waive a magic wand and pickup a Mizzou or a Texas A&M (that’s a joke son). Too drop Buffalo, we’d have to pay em probably 3/4 of the originally agreed upon ‘travel fee’ and then promise a home and home with another ‘major’ team; a team which also has it’s OOC schedule already made up. For those that advocate just picking up a USC or Bama or Penn State, well, you just don’t understand scheduling nor rivalries.

Pacman, Ever wonder why USC ”NEVER” plays a SEC team in a bowl game?

It would totally destroy the over inflated image of fan’s like you that don’t realise that USC has been making it’s living feasting on lesser competition just like Boise ST.

USC had it’s chance to face a real team in the Bowl game in 2007, but they decided stick with the safe bet and go the ”Traditional” route to play Illinois and duck the Dawgs.

That was a smart move, because it would have been imbarrassing for the Trojan’s to get beat by Ga in their Rose Bowl in front of a 60 to 75% UGA crowd.

Bama Stan… don’t let the facts get in the way of your rhetoric. You say UGA and Michigan State are historically equivalent. Through 2010, UGA was the 15th winningest program in collegiate history. Bammer is #11, Tennessee is #13, USC is #14 and UGA is #15. LSU is #16 and Auburn comes in at #17. When you remove (4) Ivy League schools from consideration, everyone moves up four notches. BTW, GT is #22 and Michigan State is #45.

UGA is anything but a midlevel collegiate program by any standard (that is when you consider facts instead of fiction.)

LSU- beat 6 ranked teams (va tech, usc,fl,au,bama,tn) lost twice in overtime once to a ranked team
UGA- beat 4 ranked teams(AU,ky,fla, bama) lost to 2 unranked teams that lost 10 games combined. And for a UGA fan to call ANY other sec teams schedule a joke is hilarious. Again lets look at the FACTS. I know the truth hurts.
bama- beat 4 ranked. teams. Lost to # 1 team in country in overtime.
UGA-beat 2 ranked teams. Lost twice.

LawDog, You are correct. I was too general with my comments. I was referencing what I believe is the prevailing trend …. the same past 3 years you mentioned. Georgia can remove the need to constantly have to “prove” something by playing complete games and rising to the occasion when playing equal or better teams. The Auburn game shouldn’t be an exception. An occasional bad game should be.

Alabama and Florida are numbers 10 and 11 and have nearly identical .70xxx winning percentages. Georgia is much better than most want to admit. since 1992 when the SEC expanded, Alabama has the 6th best record.

The entire bowl experience was fun, and we found the MSU fans to be a really nice group of people!! The fans that are traveling to Tampa will find the same, I’m sure, but I still hope my Dawgs win more easily this time around! GO DAWGS!!

PAC lover should realize that no one has any respect for west coast pansy football. USC had a few years of relevance (mostly due to cheating and a soft, soft conference in which they were the only team that played a lick of defense).
—-
USC claims 11 MNC’s – including 7 AP or UPI (2 of them in the last 8 years) – has 6 Heisman trophy winners (7 if you include Reggie Bush), has 4 alums as current starting QBs in the NFL, the reigning defensive players of the year in both NFL conferences (Clay Matthews and Troy Polamalu), more alumni currently in the NFL than any other school……
Yep – they are a pansy school that has never done anything in football

Ranked No. 19 entering the game, Oklahoma will become only the third preseason No. 1 ranked team in the last 27 years that will finish the season ranked outside the top 10 in the final AP poll. The others, according to collegepollarchive.com were Georgia, which finished No. 13 in 2008, and Penn State, finishing No. 16 in 1997.

Regarding Pac Man’s comments, USC’s BCS Championship in 2005 being vacated, means they haven’t won an undisputed National Championship since 1972 – 40 years! LOL. Since the AP pulled out of the BCS voting for whatecer reason, their poll doesn’t really count as it is not recognized by College Football and the NCAA as the official title. In other words, Southern Cal has not even had a split since 1978. Southern Cal was a strong program for a solid 25 years between the earl 60’s and late 80s. They were resurrected in the 2000’s under Pete Carroll because he cheated. Cheating doesn’t count. It disqualifies you the same way a holding penatly can wipe out a touchdown. So Pac Man, check back in when USC whens a BCS that counts. By the way, if Georgia is of no national significance what in the he…heck are you doing in our blog.? I couldn’t tell you where USC even has a blog.

These Bama fans that constantly come on a blog about UGA is so funny. Newsflash for you idiots. UGA has beaten the mighty Tide 3 of the last 4 games they have played. Richt has beaten Bama both times he played them on Bama’s home field. Richt has a winning record against the God of college football Saban. Richt’s team also put up the most points ever, and beat his team by the largest margin ever in Athens in 2004, which was Saban’s last year at LSU. So maybe you clowns should go on a Tenn. blog where u can actually brag about your wonderful program and head coach. Let’s see you can’t even go on an Auburn or LSU blog and brag either, because both of those programs have beaten you like a drum lately. You guys shouldn’t even be in a championship game, you didn’t win your division or your conference title. You didn’t even get to play for the SECC, yet ESPN and the talking heads wanted you to play for the National Title. How does a team that can’t even play for it’s conference title be allowed to play for a National Title? I remember ESPN and all Bama fans saying UGA didnt deserve to play for national title in 2007, you guys are so pathetic, and you think your mighty program deserves special treatment. If it weren’t for ESPN, you would be playing in the Capital One bowl, which is where you belong. Beating 3 ranked teams when you played them doesn’t qualify Bama to play for it all.

My 2 cents (FWIW)…. regarding how UGA fits in nationally. No we are not in the elite/top bracket. The way I look at it when viewing a programs history (not just recent years) I think the very top are USC (real USC), Bama, ND, maybe Michigan, then you have OSU, Texas, Oklahoma. Then teams like UGA, Nebraska, Penn St., LSU (maybe LSU could go to the bottom of the “second tier” with OSU, etc…). If you look at the history of UGA vs. Penn St they are very similar, same # of national titles, similar bowl records, # wins, etc… I havent looked at Nebraska vs UGA but I think it would be similar.
Of course Army used to be really good…… :)

The Dawgs should come into this game with fire in their eyes. If Richt want to fuel their desire to win – ask him to have them google “2012 bowl predictions. All have the game very close, however all but one of the many I read had GA losing. The reasons given are numerous including GA’s soft SEC schedule. They do not realize a “soft” SEC team doesn’t exist when compaired to most teams of other conferences. Also, West Coast, Northern and Midwestrern teams automatically recieve favorable projections and predictions over areas having a drawl. But those with the drawl have dominated the prognosticators “pet programs” for some time and will continue to do so in the near future in the worse case scenario.

Alabama held Michigan State to 171 yards of total offense, including a minus-48 yards rushing. It was the worst rushing performance by a Michigan State game in 21 bowl appearances, and included 56 net yards lost by quarterback Kirk Cousins, who was sacked four times.

- Michigan State came into the game ranked 39th in the nation in rushing. It was held to -48 rushing yards. The Spartan offensive line got killed by the Bama defensive front.

BAMA pulled the main starters with ten minutes to play in the third Quarter. Let that sink in for a moment,

The Crimson Tide only won 49-7. I say only, because it could have been much, much worse.

- Hello? Michigan State? Do you have an offensive line? The Spartans apparently decided that blocking was optional – and chose to decline that option. Spartan quarterback Kirk Cousins hung in as long as he could, but let’s be honest, he did not stand a chance.

We lost to the #1 team, and 2 top 10 teams. I don’t think we lose to Boise and SC if we had played them late, rather than early, that’s just me, sort of gave away the SC game and had the Tigers on the ropes early if we hang onto a couple of passes and if BoBo doesn’t get all conservative and try running little Thomas the train up the gut, but I digress. Oh well since most of their fans stay on UGA blogs anyway I guess the rubbing of their nose’s can be accomplished here. Utah! Really? Blown 14 point lead? 7 straight bowl loses and 10 of 11 losses to the only team they are obsessed with. You just can’t make this stuff up. No worries DawgNation, They will just get onto any UGA blog, and say their usual round of excuses. They don’t need facts, since they live vicariously through our opponents, knowing that 90-100% of the SEC opponents we play, would wipe them off the field, much like we do almost any year.
The amazing thing is that tech. AD can’t realize that they can’t compete in the ACC, if they are unwilling to admit they are wrong and try to correct the problem. They need a modern HC and lord knows, their DC should be someplace, chipping rocks into tablets. The academic excuse they fall back on is way past old, but it is the only thing they have to fall back on. Not a single player I could find listed the last three years, left tech. with that engineering degree. Now it is , but we have the best management degree program. As soon as that has been debunked, next it will be something else. They could probably win a few more games, if they were played with pocket protectors and calculators.

GO DAWGS and GATA
But, oh well, at least they provide UGA a good scrimmage, although not a lot, since only about 5 Div. 1 schools, run that offense. Keeps UGA in shape for the bowl game though, so thanks for that little bit of help.

Jborodawg

January 1st, 2012

Back to the subject. I agree with Bill…should be a close game and will probably come down to turnovers. MSU has a very good, experienced QB and a consistent running game. They barely lost their CCG. We have no idea about our RBs and our O line isn’t consistent. We do have complete faith in our D, IF they’re not on the field for 35+ minutes.

So, the same old formula: if we have a good running game and if we stop the run…two big ifs.

A win would make us “for real” in the eyes of most fans and pundits. Of course and naturally, a few on the AJC blogs will never admit it.

Dawg fans that predict a win: your hearts are in the right place, but it just isn’t a given that we’ll win (Big 10 is weak, etc). MSU is ranked for a reason. And, on paper we’re fairly evenly matched, depending on if we get a running game going or not.

Goooo Dawgs! GATA!

This is a reminder that we’ll be having our regular tribute and moment of silence today for Saint Jan Kemp, the courageous martyr who exposed UGA and Vince Dooley’s “remedial studies” fraud, a shameful scam that Mark Richt carries on today, almost thirty years later.

Please approach this special moment with awe and reverence as we honor her sacred name.

Preston,

If IC were flunking every class as you supposedly heard, he would not be allowed to suit up today. He would not be eligible under NCAA or UGA rules to play today. He has already taken his mid terms so obviously, wherever you got that rumor, was false and probably only meant to stir up comments and elicit negative ones at that on these blogs. He probably will not start today, but the reason for that most likely has to do with UGA wanting to see if Malcome has turned the corner and also because he has worked hard to prepare to play today. IC will see some action but he will not see most likely 20 carries, especially if Malcome does a good job, and Samuel is also healed and ready to go.

All saints,

You are about as funny, and useful, as a oil lamp in a hurricane. You have kept up with this same lame excuse of a blog comment for at least two years. Go back to your play pen.

I agree with your analysis of the UGA program, except for your prediction of today’s game. UGA is better than you think this year.

Once again, Bobo took his offenseout of the game in the second quarter and the Dogs lost. When is CMR going to realize that his offensive coordinator lacks the resolve needed to truly excel. Leading 16 – 0 and lose because the offense first goes conservative and then falters when they try to reassert themselves? We’ve seen that much too much with Bobo. Sad.

still@the kool-aid bar,

We need a new OC, but tech. needs a whole new coaching staff and a lot of players that they can’t recruit. I agree that UGA needs to make some changes, but they are light years ahead of your bee’s as far as teams go.
UGA can improve if they get some innovation in play calling and quit being so vanilla in it. The offense simply is out coached in the second half and leaves the defense hanging out too much. UGA can hire a new coach but tech. can’t hire a new football team. You coming onto a UGA blog and berating the DAWGS when they lose to a very good team, after you lost to a team without a QB, running game or decent coaches is not a good comparison. UGA can improve as we just need to have an OC that can coach them up and a few, mind you few, upgrades on the OL and RB. Tech. needs to start all over. Your head coach is proving that he can’t adapt his style of offense to big time football, your DC, well, he just can’t adapt to football anymore. You just need to worry about your own football program at tech. if you want to call it a program. Most of the time, it looks like you are a team, that has just started playing football at the FBS level and yet you think you can criticize a team that has owned you for over a decade, and over all, since you started playing football in 1892, has pretty much owned you. You should be hanging your head in shame, if you support that program you think is a football team. I think the smog in Atlanta is affecting your brain, but then again, possibly it doesn’t take a lot of smog to do that.
