How will Dogs handle life in the driver’s seat?

SEC-Football1It was amusing to hear Kentucky coach Joker Phillips telling about getting a text from the 803 area code (South Carolina) offering him dinner “anywhere in the world” if Kentucky upsets Georgia, but it also brought home how good it feels for the Dogs to control their own destiny, as the sports cliche goes, in the battle to play in the Georgia Dome.

Dawgs fans can relate to what South Carolina fans are feeling right now. Remember how frustrating it was for most of the season when we knew that no matter how well Georgia played, all the Gamecocks had to do to get back to Atlanta was win out in the conference?

Now, the roles are reversed and Carolina fans who were crying “War Eagle” last week are desperately cheering this week for Big Blue (a nickname more commonly applied to the Wildcats in basketball).

I know a lot of Georgia fans are concerned that with the point spread approaching 30 for this game the Dogs might come out complacent or lose focus looking ahead, and that’s certainly a legitimate fear in a situation like this. But a team that doesn’t let an 0-2 start and “hot seat” talk about its head coach derail its season isn’t easily distracted from the task at hand.

The Bulldogs know this isn’t just any old game against a lightly regarded opponent. This is a game to clinch the division title and go to the SEC Championship for the first time since 2005. I’ll be surprised if Georgia doesn’t come out breathing fire Saturday and ready to show the world they’re Dome-worthy. This is why these players came to UGA, to play for a championship.

After spending most of the early part of the season hearing constantly that each game was a “must” win for the Dogs, nothing’s really changed. Kentucky is a must win, but in a positive sense.

This time last year, every game for the Dogs was “big” in the ironic sense that they were desperate to just qualify for a bowl bid. This year, Kentucky is a big game because it’s for the SEC East.

Turnarounds like that are what make college football such a blast.

HATERS ON HERE BEFORE OUR GAMES THIS YEAR:
MSU: Dawgs are physical enough to beat these guys.
OLE MISS: Nutt playing for his job. Dawgs going down
TENN: Trap game. Vols tough at night. Best QB in the SEC
AU: Finally, Dawgs play a real SEC team with SEC players.

And after all those games, according to our visitors on here, AFTER the wins, we ain’t played nobody

roll tide

you are comical

Just because you are bama and you think you deserve a 2nd chance

You don’t

You lost to LSU. Only losers call the other team lucky.

I like our chances against your team more so than LSU.

LSU can make a FG and can complete a forward pass

Bama can’t do either

I still stand by what Ive said. And that is Grantham has shown so far he is a good coach. Richt and Booboo still have a long way to go before I buy a drink from that kool-aid bar

don’t worry, when UGA starts losing with a tougher schedule next year, dawg fans will get back at coach Richt again.

2 robberies this month

As opposed to 50 arrests and 10 DUI’s after one football game. Personally I am much less concerned with getting robbed then I am of losing my life to a UGA fan who doesn’t know when enough is enough.

UGA doesn’t play LSU, ARK, Bama..You know I’ll bet right now after watching the team with the best Rushing offense in the SEC, just get beaten badly by our Dawgs…I think LSU, BAMA, and Ark are all kinda glad they don’t have to come to Athens and play this weekend…Say the Dawgs are weak, over-rated, or play no one..etc. But they are playing good ball, and have SEC tallent. Win or not, this team will give any team from the west all they want. GO DAWGS!!
PS also love all the talk from Bama thinkig they should get a NC chance..same group saying UGA had no arguement in 2007….Pot meet Kettle

Roll Tide… year in/year out with Saban you folks are tough, no doubt… BUT I’ve noticed Saban’s sphincter muscle gets a little tight in the tough games and he goes all “McleWhine” on his team… How is that OC working out for you the last 2 years??? We gave you the blueprint on how to beat the Barners…Don’t blow it in the 2nd half this time.>>> You know…the last 20 year…The West has not been our problem at all…Just UF…

How sweet it is.. I hope that I am not the only one thinking that we have a great chance against LSU… also having a bit of trouble with the fact that Bama might go to the National Championship even though they did not play for their division title that smells a little too much like 2007 to me. A bit worse taste though.

2 more regular season games. The SEC champ game. A bowl game. It is still one foot in front of the other…. one game at a time.

Question: If UGA doesn’t blow it against UK and loses to LSU in the championship, LSU will play for the crystal, but who plays in the Sugar Bowl? I have heard people predict Bama, but wouldn’t UGA be the runner up? What about if UGA loses to Tech in tech final game?

The long shot of beating LSU presents problems, but losing is a little confusing, too. Best focus on UK.

anyone have any idea why the coaches don’t pull Crowell (when he is not pulling himself after getting hit hard…in several games) out and talk with him about running his mouth? I keep seeing him run his mouth…early in games and too much in people’s faces when he is doing it…and I keep thinking “he is going to do that and finally get called for it at a CRITICAL time”. Don’t know why the coaches aren’t taking it on. And, as an aside, a guy who fumbles, can’t take a hit without getting hurt and has already had some off-field issues, you would think he would learn to shut his pie hole.

Come on man…. you dont like Obama’s vision of a tax and spend government. I mean just think now for a moment, if Obama can raise our taxes even more before long we wont have to go to work anymore because we will be taxed more than it will be worth working.

Then we can stay home watch TV, have free healthcare, a government provided chicken on the table and life will be good

Like Obama said the other day, Americans are too lazy thats why our jobs are going overseas

Who knows, the government might pay for my UGA season tickets. Crossing my fingers!!!!!

The Dawgs won’t slip against KY (jelly?) and they will not be taking Tech’s running game lightly. They will win both and go into the title game against the Best of the West with determination, seriousness of purpose, and confidence. I’m going to savor each step along the way and not spend time thinking about Doomsday in the Dome until the dust settles on Grant Field.

I am just glad we have the opportunity to play for the SECC.

The coaches and the players never gave up. And because of that they are playing a game that if they take care of business, will vault them into a trip to Atlanta and a good bowl game.

Much better than playing to be bowl eligible for the Weedeater or Papa John’s bowl.

Then they submit it for me, call me in a week or two but hopefully not during Springer and let me knoe I have been approved for my Braves tickets, free gas, free rent, free groceries. I really just wanna do nothing during the entire process just sit on my couch. Sound about right?
