Offensive line play a big factor as Aaron Murray hits his stride

Aaron Murray has his best game as a Bulldog. (Brant Sanderlin / AJC)

Aaron Murray has his best game as a Bulldog. (Brant Sanderlin / AJC)

As we look ahead to the chance to clinch the SEC East against Kentucky, here are a few more thoughts on Georgia’s big win over Auburn. …

The Dogs’ offensive line had its most consistent game in ages and at times looked dominating. One of the results is that Aaron Murray appears to have more confidence in them, isn’t rushing passes as much as earlier in the season and consequently is much more accurate. Yeah, Murray was sacked three times, but he still looked extremely comfortable in the pocket and had probably his best day as a Bulldog against the Tigers.

Kudos also to Mike Bobo, who must have noticed a susceptibility on the part of the Auburn defense to the “back shoulder” pass, in which, with the ball in the air, the receiver suddenly stops running or even comes back to get a deliberately underthrown pass, leaving the defender out of the play. Murray threw three of those perfectly Saturday, two for big gains to set up scores and one for a touchdown. …

Yes, it seems Vandy’s success on the ground was an aberration. Todd Grantham’s run defense is for real. Having already held two SEC offenses to negative rushing yardage, against Auburn the Dogs let the conference’s second-leading running attack get only 51 yards, with minus-12 in the first half. Auburn has a lot of problems, but one thing they’ve been able to do this season is run — until they met the Dogs. …

Mark Richt thought special teams player Quintavious Harrow’s big hit to stop an Auburn kickoff return dead was the most impressive play of the game, but Brandon Boykin’s similar fourth quarter hit on a Tiger screen pass had fans in the crowd imitating the “here comes the boom!” video we’d seen just moments before. …

When’s the last time you heard a Sanford Stadium crowd cheer the arrival on the field of the third-string tailback? Brandon Harton won a lot of fans with his performance a week earlier against New Mexico State and got to carry the all four times for 15 yards against Auburn. And you knew Georgia’s domination was complete when even Ken Malcome got into the game. He got 10 yards on three carries and made a first down right before the end of the game. …

At halftime, I said I was afraid that with a 35-7 lead Bobo would go all conservative. He did, but this time it worked since the Dogs were pretty much able to line up and ram it down Auburn’s throat, with Murray only throwing two passes in the second half. Again, credit the tremendous improvement in the play of the offensive line. …

I mentioned Saturday the loudness of the Sanford Stadium crowd. It was great to see the opposing team’s quarterback having to walk over to each player to give them the call and then still have to call a time out. It happened twice! …

Rotating the placekickers seems to be working well and I was glad to see Brandon Bogotay get the call when it came time for Georgia’s lone field goal attempt. Now let’s hope they can just figure out what has suddenly happened to normally reliable Drew Butler, who shanked his lone punt for just 17 yards. Net punting is one of the weakest aspects of Georgia’s game, with the Dogs ranking 107th in the nation. …

The Auburn game was a great performance all-around, easily the Dogs’ most complete of the season, but not perfect. What is there to work on? Well, besides the punting game and Isaiah Crowell’s two fumbles, Murray still could do better getting rid of the ball to avoid taking a sack or a big hit (one of which made him do a complete flip). The Dogs still are vulnerable to gadget plays like the touchdown pass from the tight end. And there were too many penalties (eight) against Auburn.

But those were all minor points on a day when Georgia looked every bit like a team that should be playing in Atlanta on Dec. 3. First, though, there’s Kentucky. Let’s hope we see the Dogs come out for the final home game of the season with the same sort of determination that has turned this season around from its unfortunate start.

Go Dogs!

Aaron Murray really showed us something these past two games. A few insane sidewalk fans were wanting Houston Mason to get the start but he’s really settled down.

Now I see why everyone picked him as the #1 QB in the SEC.

Oh, and FIRST! 45-7! ALL IN!

I was a bit disappointed in seeing Crowell come in and ruin all of Thomas’ hard work by fumbling the ball not once…but twice. Very impressed with how well Thomas was running the ball yesterday. Haven’t seen much from him this season. Also very impressed with how well Z. Ogletree played.

My brother said that if it was a “blunt” being handed to Crowell, he would have never dropped it…ZiNg…

Very impressive win for our Dawgs this weekend. Still, I need to see more consistency from both sides of the ball before I say we can hang with Bama or LSU. Do we have a chance to win? Yes. But we need to cut down on the penalties and for God’s sake Crowell, hold on to the ball. I can understand the 2nd fumble, dude was almost hitting him when he was taking the handoff but WTH happend on the 1st one? Richt needs to have him carry a ball with him everywhere this week and if somebody else comes to practice with it besides him, make him do extra drills or something to drive into him to HOLD ON TO THE BALL!!!! The Truth:

UGA is a “Nice” Football Team. Nice being the optimal word. They are not a Good or Great Football team. They are not in the same category or level as a LSU, Alabama or Arkansas.

That being said, they have done a very nice job of winning 8 games in a row against weaker teams and that does not bode well for our beloved SEC. Beating a injury prone UF team and a very weak Auburn team means very little to the big boys around the league. It was nice seeing UGA lay the wood to an Auburn team that by all accounts were allowed to play a player in 2010 after the NCAA changed the rule on family members requesting benefits for their children to play. In every other known case the student athlete was ruled “INELIGIBLE” and were not allowed to play. But that is history now.

UGA will go into the Georgia Dome, get their clocks cleaned and go to a decent bowl, see Outback in Lovely Tampa( a great New Year’s Day destination) for a weak Big 10 opponent to play( See Wisconsin or Nebraska or Michigan St.)

UGA is two years away from eing a player again with the big boys in the league. Once Missouri comes into the league you will avoid those big boys in the West Division one additional year each and maybe those other Tigers from Columbia Mo. will need some time to recruit some defense before they are part of UGA’s yearly troubles.

Be happy your schedule was so weak and stop all this world beater talk.

3 overlooked things that may have SAVED our program – both for this season, and the next few years…
1. Youth
2. Injuries
3. Suspensions

The fact that we’re young at WR, LB and DE has FORCED guys to get in there and learn at an advanced rate. It served as a weakness to start the season – but has truly payed off in the end. Injuries to Ogletree and Robinson and the Washington suspension allowed guys like Gilliard and Herrerra to step up and get valuable time on the field. Ealy and King getting booted and Crowell and Thomas getting suspended brought us Harton and Samuel and a clear recruiting advantage for Mister Marshall (please come to Georgia). Losing AJ made guys compete. Losing Malcolm for 3 games brought us the emergence of Bennett and Conley.

Now – we have a deep team (everywhere except the O-line of course) – and deep in the sense that many, many guys have seen the field in MEANINGFUL situations against the opposition’s 1st string players.

If Orsen and Jarvis stay another year, and Missou replaces Bama on the schedule – I think all the ingredients are there for a run at the MNC.

2012 Offense would have Murray, Crowell, Mitchell, Bennett, Conley, King, Orsen, Jay Rome, Marlon,Justin Scott-Wesley, Christian Lemay, Arthur Lynch, Samuel and hopefully a 5 star or 2.

2012 D would have – get this – Geathers, Jenkins. Abry, Lott and Garrison Smith. LB’s would consist of Jarvis, Ogletre, Cornelious, Christian, Gilliard, Drew and Herrerra. DB’s back would be B. Smith, Rambo, Commings, S. Williams and Nick Marshall

Folks – UGA is on the way back up to 2001-2005 levels and it is as clear as day to me. Go Dawgs!

I wasn’t saying that LSU wasn’t good, but just that I think even though AU seems to be a bit down…that I think it’s pretty impressive the way that UGA dominated them. They not only beat them by more points than LSU, but if you look at yardage totals, then they held them to less yards as well. UGA has a good defense too, I’m not making any predictions, but I’m just saying it was impressive. That’s all.

It’s funny how when the line blocks and Murray is not getting sacked or running for his life the completions go up and interceptions go down! Carolton ran great Saturday # 15 from auburn kept him from getting 200 yards cause three times he was the only guy to beat and he brought him down.
And bobo……… It’s easy to call plays when your line is pushing the other team off the ball!

It is very easy to say ” Would LOVE to play Bama, which is way overrated”. In reality, LSU would be an easier opponent to play as they got beat play after play by an average QB in McCarron and some no name wideouts. While it looked like Alabama pretty much shut down the entire offensive output by LSU. I would have given UGA a leg up on kicking to start the year against LSU or Alabama, but from recent weeks performance that is a wash.

The facts are that UGA will not be able to run the ball against either LSU or Alabama and both teams would put Murray on his back more than he has seen all season. You forget that defenses win championships and those two defenses are the best in ALL of college football.

uga would likely get beaten pretty soundly by either lsu or bama. i know common opponents isnt a great way to judge, but uga barely squeaked by florida, tennesee. and vandy this year, all of which were beaten by ~ 30 points by both western schools.

just be glad taht your soft schedule this year and a weak SEC bought you some time as far as coaching stability and allowed your team to build a little confidence. take it for what it is, but uga is nowhere near contending for a national title.

The first question is whether UGA’s offensive line will be able to handle LSU’s defensive line. The second question is can the LSU defensive backs lock down UGA’s receivers? Based on the games I have watched of both teams, the answer to the first question is not very well and the answer to the second question is probably. UGA’s offensive line has not lived up to its potential foe whatever reason this season and the showing against Auburn is no indicator of greatness. My guess is LSU will beat UGA 14 points if UGA plays well and a hell of a lot worse if they don’t.

Regarding Richt, I think McGarity better think long and hard about what kind of a contract extension to give Richt at the end of the season. All McGarity has to do is look at what happened to Fullmer several years back, which UT still has not recovered from. Does he want to put UGA into that kind of difficult situation? Keep the contract extension, if any, minimal…no more then 2 years.

I was surprised by how quickly this Auburn team quit. When they started the season, they were out-matched by Utah State, but they found a way to win. They were used to winning and simply refused to lose. They did the same against MSU. The first time they really just quit was against Clemson. They’ve been up and down since then. I thought they would play well against LSU, but they were never even in the game. Then they appeared to have regained their Mojo against Ole Miss. Oh well… That’s just typical Ole Miss, I guess.

At any rate, Auburn has learned to lose again and Georgia seems to have learned how to win. That has to be a good thing for the Dawgs. Auburn was the best team that Georgia has faced since South Carolina. I’d call this a quality win. Kudos to Georgia!

I would say that UGA is better than just a ‘good’ team by the way they are playing right now. Sure, they started out the year shakey, but they have been getting better and better every week which is what you want in a college football team. Right?

I am not going to sit here an knock Georgia’s schedule and cry like the haters because it’s weak. The way I see it, all these teams that UGA has played in conference have done pretty well in recruiting. The Dawgs cannot control how the other SEC teams play. Even if it gets ugly they are still winning. I for one would like to see how well the Dawgs stack up against an LSU, or Bama. They may not win, but I would give them a good chance.

If Football Fever is right then that is very interesting about opponents. However, hasn’t LSU played a few good teams….Bama for 1 and Oregon for another outside the conference. They still have AK to play….Ga could end up playing Bama after all. The NC is not about who is best. It’s about who has the best season. Unless there is a playoff we won’t really know who is the best team. I wouldn’t say GA is a top 10 team right now and neither do the voters, but we are improved for sure. Realist has a good point about contract extension. The truth is that Richt has produced in much the same way Fulmer did…under pressure Fulmer won when he had to in order to keep his job. Richt had 3 down seasons before contract talk got serious. But I say we ought to keep him…on a short leash. He HAS had an easy schedule this year and needs to keep the improving team to keep improving. Take us inside the top 5 nationally and vie for a NC in the next 2 years. It appears to me that the potential is there for it. Will he get us to our potential?

Gentlemen … as my life unfolds it is amazing how much luck has to do with sucess and failure. With his job on the line all year Richt was lucky and that is better than being good. He was lucky that tennessee, Florida and Auburn are down and lucky to not have to play Arkanasas Alabama or LSU.
Now it appear he will keep his job and i am a happy bulldog fan for the results. But i can’t help wondering is this team on the upswing or has this team simply played the worst SEC schedule in 50 yrears.

I really hope Ga doesn’t play on CBS anytime soon. Gary Danielson always pulls against Ga and he tries to make Ga look bad.

Last year when Fairley was rubbing his facemask into Aaron Murrays chin he said ”Look their facemasks are stuck together”.

While Ga’s defense was dominating Fla to minus rushing yards, he gave all the credit to Brantleys ankle.

When Mark Richt took the ball out of Murrays hand and the RB’s were running through the Auburn D-line at will, even though Auburn knew that Ga wasn’t going to pass, it was all about how bad Auburn was looking.

Gary Danielson needs to learn how to play both sides alot better.

Auburn better be glad Richt has some class, because if he would of allowed Murray to play pitch and catch the entire second half against that demoralized AU defense, it would of been ugly. One reason that the Big-12 dominates s.o.s is that the 10 teams play a round-robin schedule. Another is that 4 teams play only FBS OOC opponents, and the other 6 play only 1 FCS opponent. All OOC opponents were played in weeks 1-3.

There might be a large groundswell movement for a playoff system when the BCS selections are made. Based on the current standings, if Georgia, Oklahoma St. and Alabama win out, Georgia meets LSU in the SEC CG. If Georgia wins, Alabama like meets Oklahoma St. in the BCS CG. That points out a fundamental flaw in the BCS: a team can play for the BCS Championship even though they didn’t win their conference.

DIT – One more incident like the Fiesta Bowl graft, and maybe the feds will investigate the BCS in RICO (racketeering) charges. You can’t use the bowls for a playoff; there isn’t enough time. Playoffs would need to start the week after conference championship games. with a field of 4 sixteen team (or more) conferences, the conference CG would be the 1st round in the 1st week in December. The great 8 would be the 2nd week in Dec., and the final 4 and National Championship game would be the 1st and 2nd week in January.

Let the bowls play games with the teams that didn’t make the playoffs. There can still be a Rose Bowl parade, and that is more interesting than most of the bowl games as it is. Who gets excited by #8 Big Ten vs. #7 PAC-12 or whoever in these meaningless games of 6-6 teams.

Some posters want to post that we have no chance against LSU. for comparison lets look at two of the better common opponents that LSU and UGA had this year. On 9/15 LSU played Miss St and beat them 19-6 Miss St had 193 total yards 52 rushing, 141 passing. LSU had 361 total yards 148 rushing 213 passing. UGA played Miss St 2 weeks later and won 24-10. Miss St had 213 total yards 56 rushing and 157 passing. UGA had 315 total yards 155 rushing and 160 passing. Very similar victories. On 10/22 LSU played Auburn and beat them 45-10. Auburn had 248 total yards 87 rushing and 161 passing. LSU had 393 total yards 174 rushing and 219 passing. 3 weeks later UGA played Auburn and won 45-7. AU had 195 total yards 51 rushing and 144 passing. UGA had 528 total yards 304 rushing and 224 passing. Another very similar victory with UGA’s being a little more decisive yardage wise. So I think UGA can match with LSU pretty well. I think UGA will have the more balanced offense than Alabama had and just as good of a defense that Alabama has.

Great analysis of the game, Bill.

The OL played BY FAR their best game of the season. They were moving bodies off the point of attack and really manhandling the Auburn DL. They even pass blocked effectively and you can see what a difference that made for Murray. Really, really good play from a unit that has been justifiably maligned all season.

Also, there is NO WAY you can put the second fumble on Crowell. He was getting tackled before Murray even handed the ball off. There is nothing he could have done on that one.

Both he and Danielson were significantly worse than normal (hard to believe, I know), but they kept saying crazy things. Verne suggested that Crowell might be hurt, which was why he was not playing (while he was on the field), referred to Murray as “White” at least twice, Verne referred to Carlton Thomas as “5-7, 163 yards and no…that is Hartson….my mistake, as Thomas carried the ball). Delbert – I have heard Danielson weekly with Chris Russo on Sirius. He is generally coherent, he just provides no useful insight and he has been consistently bad the last few years on CBS. His commentary on TV is simply boring.

I really wish before a game like this, they would watch the previous year’s game so that they could have some sort of a context to go to in their weaker moments if he is not actually going to break down Xs and Os (which I am not sure he is capable of anyway).

The bad news is they will be destroyed by LSU in the SEC CG on national tv and end up in a lower bowl than if they did not get to Atlanta. Which SEC team has played the toughest schedule so far this season?

If you go by the combined records of FBS opponents, it would be Tennessee.

The Vols’ eight FBS opponents are a combined 47-23 (.671). Their schedule will only get tougher this weekend when they travel to Arkansas, which is 8-1 overall.

Counting the Hogs, that’s six teams the Vols will have faced to this point with two or fewer losses. Tennessee defeated Cincinnati the second week of the season, but has lost all five of its SEC games. Only one of those losses was by fewer than 10 points.

Speaking of Arkansas, the Hogs have faced the easiest schedule in the SEC, according to the combined records of their opponents. The Hogs’ FBS foes are a combined 34-37 (.479).

Of Arkansas’ eight FBS opponents to this point, four currently have losing records.

Nonetheless, Arkansas is one of only three SEC teams (along with Alabama and LSU) that has beaten three or more nationally-ranked opponents this season. The Hogs own wins over Texas A&M, Auburn and South Carolina. All three teams were ranked in the AP poll at the time of the game.

No. 1 LSU, coming off its 9-6 overtime win at Alabama, owns six victories over nationally-ranked foes, including two over top 5 teams.

With three weeks to play in the regular season, there are seven teams in the SEC still looking for their first win over a nationally ranked opponent – Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.

Florida, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt haven’t beaten any FBS teams this season that currently have winning records. The Gators are also at the bottom of the league in terms of who they’ve beaten.

Their five victories this season have come over teams with a combined 13-31 record (.295). The Gators started off the season with back-to-back games against Florida Atlantic and UAB, who are a combined 1-16 right now.

Here’s a look at the combined records of the FBS opponents for all 12 SEC schools:
•Tennessee: 47-23 (.671)
•LSU: 46-26 (.639)
•Ole Miss: 46-26 (.639)

•Kentucky: 41-32 (.562)
•South Carolina: 45-36 (.555)
•Florida: 43-37 (.538)
•Georgia: 38-33 (.535)

No!.

LSU would have to lose to Arkansas and UGA, and they will not happen, if Arkansas beats LSU then UGA will face Bama only if LSU is beaten by more than 10 points and falls to No. 5 or lower.

Best Case scenario is that two out of the these three are in a BCS bowl: LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, and even Arkansas is unlikely. UGA would have to win the SEC title game against LSU or Alabama and that is not happening this year. You can check back in two years when Murray is a senior, Mitchell is a final year junior, and Crowell has flunked out of school or has been kicked out of school and is playing football at UNA to see if the CMR extension has worked out.

Once Georgia beats Kentucky, nothing that SC does or doesn’t do will change the course of Georgia. Win or lose to Clemson means diddly squat to Georgia. From the bowls perspective The top 5 SEC teams of which UGA will be one will be in the NC, the Sugar Captial One, Outback, Cotton. The Sugar will take the team with the best record not going to the BCSNC. The rest are a coin flip and depending on tie ins from other conferences.

Any team always has a chance, especially in Big Games, Arkansas or LSU is going to lose a game and MORE than likely it is going to Arkansas. LSU is just too dominant, Alabama will be sitting at home and will fall into a BCS game. It looks from the forecasted bookers more along the lines of BCS bowl chances at:

LSU 97%
Alabama 95.2
Arkansas 54%
UGA 48%

those are forecasted updated odds for a BCS game birth. Of course that is all thrown out with a LSU loss or a UGA win in the SECCG.

If UGA happens to win the SEC Championship game then no SEC team should play for the title. Bama should bot play for it since they will not win the SEC Championship. UGA got left out back in 2001 even though they won the SEC title.

Just saying.

The word here in Bamaland is LSU and Alabama should have a rematch in the BCS title game, as they are the 2 best teams in the country. While I agree these are 2 formidable teams, Alabama had their shot (at home, no less), and didn’t get it done. There seem to be very few Alabama fans who remember 2007 for Georgia. They didn’t win their division, or conference championship, and that alone kept them OUT of the title game. Do overs are a nice idea, but no one is giving Georgia another shot at S.Carolina, why should Alabama get one? The same Alabama fans saying their team deserves another shot are the SAME ones that were calling us whiners in ‘07!

And all this talk about whether Ga. can,or could, beat Bama or Lsu. ‘Course they shouldn’t be able to but who knows. And going from 0-2 to playing for the conference championship and being guaranteed a top-level bowl, is that a “significant improvement”, or what?

DAWGMAN

November 14th, 2011

What do the Dawgs have to work on?
The season is like a 100 meter sprint. For a while now, Georgia has set up their blocks 10 meters behind the start line. Lose the first 2 or 3 out of 4 and the season is shot to hell. It’s too late for that to be fixed this year. Again we have to wait for next year. Some of us are getting old. There is a good chance that we will not enjoy another Championship before we take that final ride. I guess we should feel blessed to have experienced even one. There are many, many of you who may never experience that wonderful event.
It should not take coach richt a month each year at the front end of the season to get the team firing on all cylinders. Not at the price he charges us for his poor performance.
We need a disciplined, strong, and well motivated team from that moment the starter’s gun fires. We didn’t get, are not getting, and will not get a fast start out of our team until we make the only change we can make that gives these young men a chance of success at the national level. We and they deserve better. These young men don’t deserve to be ‘coached down’; they deserve to be ‘coached up’. What we can do is not extend his contract. That’s what we need to work on. Now.

The Cotton Bowl Likes Arkansas and vice versa but there is no automatic West team to the Cotton Bowl. Only an SEC/Big 12 match up. AR has been to the cotton for several years now sans last year Sugar, they could opt at anytime to go elsewhere. It’s a pretty sure bet the BCSNC and the Sugar have LSU and Bama as a lock. Unless of course there is a rematch and that would open up the Sugar for Georgia or Arkansas. Both would have 2 losses in that picture

The Bulldog faithful (or those who backslid but are now back in church) are understandably excited about beating UF and following up with a blowout of Auburn. Objective analysis of trends, stats, and weaknesses of the big 3 in the West supports the case we’ve got good reason to be optimistic about the SEC Championship game; but, fans of Tech, Bama, Arkansas and whomever are not rational people. Trust the coaches and players to TCB against KY and GT and then we’ll have out chance to show ‘em what we got. Finally, props to “2011 BCS Champions” for showing up and admitting you were wrong. An Auburn blog I read was highly complimentary of the Sanford Stadium homies warmth and hospitality. Georgia lost their second game of the season in 2007 to South Carolina, who finished 6-6. They then lost 35-14 to Tennessee, who finished 9-3. That’s not exactly the same as ending a regulation game against the undefeated No.1 team in a tie and losing by 3 points in OT.

Orange? What an ugly color. I can forgive a few gaffs from a rs sophomore QB who for the last two years has not had a competent running game or coherent line (until this last game). I especially forgive one who just broke the TDs for season record and has an excellent TD to INT ratio.

Not a Bama fan but let’s look back at the 2003 Oklahoma Sooners. They lost their last game of the season, their conference championship game, and still went on to play LSU for the NC. The idea of the NC is STILL supposed to be to pair the TWO best teams in the country. That is the overall intent and always should be. We don’t have a playoff which would usually accomplish this so we have to use the archaic system we have and hope that by whatever means, we still get THE TWO BEST TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY.

Is it just me or has the O line come alive because we now have a Neal Calloway pupil. I never thought Stacy Serles got the most out of the line. And the guy before that started with a good line and went down hill. I wonder if all the Bobo criticism should really have been at the line coaches? It does seem like for the first time in several years, that the running back is seeing a hole when he come to the line instead of a bunch of players from the other team.

Alabama’s only impressive win was the whooping they put on a very good Arkansas team (still in the western hunt btw). their win at Penn State was pretty good but i honestly feel Georgia would have the same success, Penn State’s offense is almost as bad as Tennessee’s. The fact is, Alabama has had nowhere near the schedule, particularly out of conference as LSU, or Georgia’s. With the exception of Penn State, they’ve traveled nowhere. LSU traveled to West Virginia, Tennessee, and had a neutral site game with a great Oregon team. I don’t see Bama coming out of that LSU schedule unschathed as LSU has. the only reason Bama took LSU to overtime I believe is because of it being in Alabama. LSU-Alabama rematch should not be in the conversation

As a Dawg fan I see SECCG as LSU-21 UGA-10, 14-10 until the final 5-4 minutes then LSU gets a turnover near the red zone and puts the game away, LSU in the national title game against Oklahoma State, Bama in the Sugar Bowl against maybe Stanford (hell of a game), Arkansas goes Capital One Bowl against Wisconsin, UGA in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl against Virginia Tech

In two weeks, UGA will slaughter GT; although GT’s pitch driven triple O will end up with 245 yds BUT only two scores and a FG. UGA will score from anywhere on the field, UGA’s wide outs will destroy GT’s cover men and when it looks like it is finally over, UGA will use their stable of running backs in the late 3rd and 4th qtrs to make the hiring of AL Groh look like a compete disaster. UGA 47-17 GT

UGA will have 2575 yds in the air with another 188 yds rushing. Yes, GT will end up with 245 rushing yds and maybe 45 passing. EMPTY GT stats as always.

Crowell is in a very good spot as a frosh legend back BUT he needs to recognize the entire squad and dig down deep to get some focus. He blew a gorgeous run with Brown out there, straight ahead and dumping AU’s safety out of the play. Blown TD by Crowell.
