The poor play of Georgia's offensive line in pass protection is affecting Aaron Murray (Associated Press)

As the Bulldogs prepare to journey up to Rocky Top, what worries you most as a Georgia fan?

Is it the loss of ace pass rusher Cornelius Washington, who might have been expected to apply considerable pressure on Volunteer QB Tyler Bray? Are you remembering how Kellen Moore picked apart the Georgia defense when he wasn’t under any pressure?

Are you fretting about the continuing special teams problems and wondering just what Mark Richt’s going to do if a game comes down to the choice between going for it on fourth down or calling in Blair Walsh and the field goal unit?

Does the fall-off in offensive production in the second half over the past couple of games worry you the most?

Or is it the shaky play of sophomore quarterback Aaron Murray, who threw three more picks Saturday?

Actually, I think most of Murray’s problems, and perhaps even some of the second-half offensive slump, are a result of what worries me most about the Dawgs right now: the poor pass protection by a spotty offensive line that’s overworked because of a severe lack of depth.

It looked to me Saturday like maybe one of the reasons Mike Bobo got conservative in the second half and didn’t make as much use of the spread (where Isaiah Crowell appears to be more effective since he thrives on space) was because he was trying to protect his quarterback with more blockers in the backfield.

In addition to getting sacked a couple of times by the Maroon Bulldogs, Murray was hit hard several times in the first half and he never seemed comfortable in the pocket after that. In fact, a couple of times he seemed so uncomfortable that he hurried passes when he didn’t even have to. Bobo also had Murray rolling out more, which doesn’t appear to help the young quarterback’s accuracy.

And remember the last time this OL played before a really noisy crowd, in the Georgia Dome, and all those false starts? Neyland Stadium will definitely be just as loud, if not more so.

So that’s what concerns me the most as the Dogs head to Knoxville: the deficient OL and the effect it’s having on our quarterback and playcalling.

How about you?

If you’re not a fan…you’re free to speak your mind. If you call yourself a “Dawg,” then how about getting behind your team instead of trying depress the rest of Bulldog Nation. Try something like, “When we play the second half like we’re killing it in the first half this team will be untouchable.” Instead, I see way to much of this sentiment, “Everybody on our team sucks in the second half, fire Richt, bring in Mason, send Bobo to the curb.” If you can’t see the positive changes in this team from last year you’re blind…and the staff is doing this with a TON of freshman.

Tampa you are correct but unfortunately the QB usually gets the blame and too much credit. I guess my point is Murray makes too many plays to be benched but makes too many bone head plays also. Danny Wuerful was always good for at least one bad play a game too and Murray is still young. He is just not progressing like he should this year. Even against Coastal Carolina he missed too many open receivers.

DCDawg hits the nail on the head on all counts. There are several things to be excited about. But I mentioned this on another blog. Soooo many trolls and even some “Dawg fans” were predicting MSU to come in and run all over us opening up Relf to throw the ball over the middle against the LBs and blah blah blah MSU 31, UGA 10 .. all that crap and then after UGA beats them soundly, all we hear is, well, MSU wasn’t a good team anyway and they can’t throw the ball and look at all the mistakes UGA made and blah blah blah.

All are good points of why we could lose. The Dawgs just need to keep there heads in the game and forget about where your playing and they should be fine. We are a better team!!

ga gator .. ahhh, Danny Wuerful. Forgot about that guy. Yeah, according to these knuckleheads, he would be a “midget” quarterback .. that just happened to win a heisman. Murray makes a ton of plays and I think as the line gels more, the receiving corp comes along, Murray will also progress more and by the time (not to be taken the wrong way) we go to Jacksonville, the offense will be in sync.

@DCDawg- replying to the provocateurs (hostile visitors, fake Dawgs and other trolls) only encourages them to keep it up. The more we ignore them, the less they enjoy their foolishness.

I would like to see the Dawgs develop a killer instinct such as we see in Alabama and LSU teams. It has to be modeled by the coaches for the players to catch on. Maybe Grantham has already instilled this in the D. We used to have more of this during the early Richt era. What happened? Did the negative reaction to our UF celebration victory cause CMR to back off on the swagger?

Worry me most? Murray. He’s as good as he’s gonna get. And that’s a bit above average. BUT, he also has a liability side. Bad decisions. That’s not likely to get better. And we’ve got him for 2 years after this one. Get ready for another 2 and a half years of under-achievement. Maybe it doesn’t have to be this way.

The Vols are chomping at their bits to get to the Dawgs! They want to settle the score from last year’s debacle in Athens. My concern is the O-line protecting Murray. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dooley doesn’t dial up blitzes which might be a good time to hand off to Crowell and let him do his thing. If Sanders Cummings and Barcarri Rambo will cover the receivers like a blanket, Tyler Bray will have to eat the ball. They’re not very equipped to run the ball. GO DAWGS!!!!!!!

What's difference between 101,000 and 93,000

Tired of hearing UGA players, fans, alumni, etc. talking about Neyland’s 101,000. Heck, UGA holds 93,000. It doesn’t make a darn difference. Watch the game Hoosiers. The rim is still 10 feet high in Hickory’s Gym as it was at KU Fieldhouse.

Play the game hard. Play with passion. Play for your teammates. Play it like Herschel. All the rest will take care of it self.

No disrespect to my UT brothers. Love Knoxville and Neyland. Just pointing out the “worries” about 8,000 extra fans.

What’s worse? 102,000 screaming hillbillies or 92,000 drunk rednecks? I don’t really see much difference. Both places are loud no matter where these teams play. I will give UT the edge on this one. They will come to play and get after Murray. Ga has to stop their run game or it will be a longggggg night.

A lot of things worry me. As to what worries me the most: A coach who does not understand that you must let the big dawg eat when he’s hungry. If Crowell is running well, leave him in the game and give him the ball. What’s more important, winning the game of sticking to a predetermined rotation that is not working? I just have no confidence in either Richt or Bobo on offensive play calling or personnel decisions during the game.

Okay everyone, let me set the record straight once again.. Bobo isnt conservative,, he’s a retard.. He also drives a little pink and white shortbus. Aron Murray is his co-pilot.. Just waiting to get his turn to drive it.. but oh yea!! he has his pom poms…waving them out the window like a good boy does… kind like he does with a football.. Does anyone get the feeling theres this relationship like Teebow and Urban between the too.. If Murray leaves will Bobo fake a heart attack and leave for medical reasons.. Hmmm.. anyway CMR isn’t much of a coach if he cant control the lack of effort and poor performance during 3rd and 4th quarter, Bench Murray sat if he throws picks!!!!!! Play Mason.. Maybe Murray can help the ladydawgs cheer… Bobo ur stupid and the lead shortbus driver..

The thing that worries me most about going into Knoxville is the same thing that I worry about every game regardless of where it is played.

The worry? The would be our incompetent and conniving coach Mark Richt and his trusty Bobo.

The players are great, I’m willing to give Grantham some cautious credit so far…

But we will probably lose due to one or more fatal decisions made by Richt and Bobo.

I can just hear the amen chorus warming up to “Let’s give him an extension” when he makes his 100th victory. Don’t drink the koolaid; don’t fall for the scam…

The biggest problem seems to be the quarterback’s tendency to turn the ball over for points. The special teams have not looked that dazzling either. The defense has improved and that is a huge plus for any optimism of staying in the game over the remainder of the schedule.

Snoop—I wish the heck you would drop the Dawgs part you sign in with. Obviously a Techhie.

Pressure Bray win the game by 14, they cannot run the ball against our D.. Give him time and it might come down to a FG, and both teams are in big trouble, neither can kick one.

Just remember this Bulldogs….

The song “Rocky Top,” which Volunteer fans so dearly love, was written by Georgia natives Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, who wrote more than 1,500 recorded songs, including some of the hits by the Everly Brothers.

And that’s a fact, Jack!

So, every time the Tennessee band cranks up that tune, just remember…they’re honoring GEORGIANS!

What am I worried about? I’m worried that we’re gonna let Day-Rick get through an entire game without knocking his Ick-Day off…I’m worried that Barbara Dooley didn’t exercise her fashion sense and just say ‘I love my son, but that’s the ugliest color imaginable and I don’t ‘do’ orange that looks as if it’s been left out in the sun too long’…I’m ‘not’ worried that, unlike the last time we were up there, our, now former, defensive coach couldn’t figure out how to defend against the ‘nekkid’, bootleg roll-out…I’m worried that those fine folks at UT, the ones that made the decision to hire Lane Kiffin and Bruce Perle, and seemingly were proud of both right up til the end, have decided to ‘add’ a few more thousand seats simply by repainting the numbers, again, after shaving off another few inches of ‘rear-end’ space…I’m not worried about our team and our coaches, since I saw a South Carolina completely dominate this Tennessee team, and they didn’t ‘dominate’ us – we’re gonna win this game this time. I’ve lost track of how many Georgia-UT games I’ve seen in Knoxville, but I do know I’ve seen more wins than losses – oh yeah, and one tie in ‘68 – including the one that Bill Bates would like to forget and the one that Bill Battle would also. It’s time to let the ‘big dog eat’, again, in Knoxville.

Oh yeah, since Day-Rick’s still playing there and his ‘adopted’ brother Nash Nance is nowhere on the depth chart, does that mean that Daddy Nance has decided that his ‘first son’ just might not be such a hot commodity and should have gone to Vandy all along – then again, I’m not sure Day-Rick could have made Georgia’s WR top six anyway.
