What worries you most as the Dogs head to Knoxville?

The poor play of Georgia's offensive line in pass protection is affecting Aaron Murray (Associated Press)

As the Bulldogs prepare to journey up to Rocky Top, what worries you most as a Georgia fan?

Is it the loss of ace pass rusher Cornelius Washington, who might have been expected to apply considerable pressure on Volunteer QB Tyler Bray? Are you remembering how Kellen Moore picked apart the Georgia defense when he wasn’t under any pressure?

Are you fretting about the continuing special teams problems and wondering just what Mark Richt’s going to do if a game comes down to the choice between going for it on fourth down or calling in Blair Walsh and the field goal unit?

Does the fall-off in offensive production in the second half over the past couple of games worry you the most?

Or is it the shaky play of sophomore quarterback Aaron Murray, who threw three more picks Saturday?

Actually, I think most of Murray’s problems, and perhaps even some of the second-half offensive slump, are a result of what worries me most about the Dawgs right now: the poor pass protection by a spotty offensive line that’s overworked because of a severe lack of depth.

It looked to me Saturday like maybe one of the reasons Mike Bobo got conservative in the second half and didn’t make as much use of the spread (where Isaiah Crowell appears to be more effective since he thrives on space) was because he was trying to protect his quarterback with more blockers in the backfield.

In addition to getting sacked a couple of times by the Maroon Bulldogs, Murray was hit hard several times in the first half and he never seemed comfortable in the pocket after that. In fact, a couple of times he seemed so uncomfortable that he hurried passes when he didn’t even have to. Bobo also had Murray rolling out more, which doesn’t appear to help the young quarterback’s accuracy.

And remember the last time this OL played before a really noisy crowd, in the Georgia Dome, and all those false starts? Neyland Stadium will definitely be just as loud, if not more so.

So that’s what concerns me the most as the Dogs head to Knoxville: the deficient OL and the effect it’s having on our quarterback and playcalling.

How about you?

The only thing Muschamp and smart rejected was a lateral career move. From DC at Texas/Bama to DC at UGA

If Richt gets fired and Smart gets interviewed, he would crawl through glass to be head coach at Georgia.

@ the Bar…Go back a actually read what I said about that. Then tell me who’s dumb?
@ 17int’s…I feel we have a great coach who “possibly” could need to leave because sometime a new voice is needed. But I don’t think its cause he can’t coach. Everyone on here brings up history so quickly but when it comes to CMR record over his tenure then we are all of a sudden living in the past. I think coaches do get fired waay to quickly.

I’m worried that Richt will mismanage the game. Call all his timeouts in the 1st & 3rd quarters. Kneel down 4 times on the ball at midfield with 1:00 left on clock. Go away from the automatic short passing game (slants to receivers & short passes to tight ends),let Bobo call all the plays. These things worry me a lot. I just got 4 more grey hairs…

The Best out there is gettable for the right price. It is “CHUCKY” Gruden. He is not staying in the BOOTH. he is young. UGA has the money. Will he Coach and TEACH football at the college level? I believe YES. He would LOVE the challenge of the SEC with UGA’s recruiting ability. The NFL cuts coaches too fast, but he gets 5 years for sure at UGA. he is a great TEACHER too.
College coaches with a Job i don’t think are coming to UGA. Better the Devil you know. The ACC schools learned that in Basketball this past year. many Good/ recently great coaches didn’t want to face Roy @ UNC or Mike @ Duke. There many coaches that are already head Coaches that will not want to play Saban or Miles but would really like to face Old Spurrier, Young Dooley, or Young Muschamp.

“I wanna ask this question in all seriousness to people who actually understand football, if we boot CMR, who out there is better that would even possibly be available?”

Amen, brother. There is no one available that gives us any better of a shot to win than CMR does.

17 INT — Last I checked, Vince Dooley is consulting for Kennesaw State and gardening in his spare time. Not sure what influence he has on the football program, other than his 2 cents, which King Adams has proven doesn’t mean squat.

Most of the above worries me. But my worst fears are: 1. The Dawgs are woefully lacking in consistency, bad bobo play-calling (duh), play-to-play focus, and attitude. The first 3 are clear to us all. The last one is related to the AJC article on the Dawgs are happy where they are. Huh? Happy at .500. Happy they are tied for first in the SEC East? Wrong, they lost the head-to-head with SC so they are not tied for first. Happy they gave away the SC game with 2 SC Returned for Touchdowns and a Fake Punt Touchdown. Happy with the offensive line who, according to SI, is the largest in the country and can’t block anyone. This attitude is not what Bama has, no LSU, nor UF, not Auburn, all recent Nat’l champs. SC, Miss St and Ole Moss used to be speed bumps for us. Now they are peers. Sad.

Mad Mike,
Why does Boise State play the first game of their season like they were playing a BCS bowl game i.e., fired up, organized, working with precision, few penalties, efficient, effective, etc. And we come like out like the first fall scrimmage and we are “OK” with aiting till game 4 or 5 to start getting our stuff together. As in recent years, the Dawgs are just not prepared to play. Answer: coaching. I would trade the Boise State staff for ours in a heartbeat. Defense noticiably improved? Maybe, but hard to tell when we make that comment based on Coastal Carolina, Ole Miss and MSU. I hope we can say that after Tenn this week.

Amazing thing is that even though we should have beat South Carolina, we are right back in this thing. If we can continue to improve, who knows what might happen. As bad as I hate to agree with M. Adams, what he said made alot of sense. Let’s support our coaches and player’s completely and see how the season plays out. I, for one, really like Mark Richt, and hope he succeeds. And, it’s not like he has just stood pat over the last couple of years. He’s made changes to the coaching staff, as well as to discipline ot the players. Naturally, we all have ideas as to changes that we would make, especially with the luxury of hind sight.

I think the D wins another game for us this weekend. Our D line will win in the trenches and the secondary has actually learned how to play zone effectively. Look for big games from J Jones and Tyson to put the pressure on Bray and Rambo and Commings to get some snags when Bray forces it.

The onus is on Ben Jones and company to make Aaron look good for once.

The best thing that can happen is for Murray to get to the SEC CG and look as bad as he really is. You dawgs will be saying “Look Murray won some games and he will be fine”, but the truth will be he is like GARCIA. Not as good as he is and not as bad as he is. Murray is just average. You lost all credibility with this comment. As a Bucs fan, it was all too easy to see what happened there. He lost control of the team from the stand point that by the end of his time there, NO ONE wanted to play for him. Veteran icons on the team would get replaced by, well, OLDER icons from another team that had lost their skills. He is not the answer. His ego is way too big to get anything out of college kids.

If we had a hc who cared about the university of ga and its fans, I doubt many of us would be concern about the state of ths football team. Blaming Mike Bobo for calling bad plays every single week ain’t worth a hill of beans. He’s not the OVERSEER(Mr.Richt) so why keep blaming him? If you was the hc at the university of ga, would you let your oc continue calling bad plays? I think not. We should be 5-0 not 3-2.

@theBar, if you think Gruden is a good head coach, then you know something dozens of other GMs don’t. He wants to still coach. So why isn’t he? Unless you saw what was going on down here in Tampa, you are clueless to make the comment. So before you make the “you don’t know much about football” comment, make sure you know at least SOMETHING about the situation. And yes, NFL players are different than college, but having a personality and being a leader are required no matter what level you are coaching at. He doesn’t. He brought a system in to Tampa that won the Super Bowl the first year and couldn’t do squat after that .. go figure.
